Question Dust Inside Nothing Phone 1 Back Panel - Nothing Phone 1

I bought Nothing Phone 1 from Flipkart(India) but unfortunately, both the original unit and replacement unit have dust inside the back panel. It looks aesthetically unpleasing and ruined the purpose of having a transparent back.
Dust particles are clearly visible when glyph lights are On.
It's been over 3 months & still, they couldn't solve this problem. They really need to work on quality control. It seems like the assembly environment of BYD Electronic (Nothing phone manufacturer) is not entirely dust free.
Both my units are Sep 2022 manufactured with the same QC inspector number (560895).

No option for replacement from Flipkart, already got one replacement. And the service centre is denying replacement.

that shouldnt be the case from what i know at the service center i have been. But i guess their policies must have been changed.
or you still have scope to try harder

SVC also denied replacement. Currently in touch with their social media team. let's see what they do in this matter.
But to be honest, I'm afraid of a similar issue in the next replacement unit (if they approve) as well.
Is it possible for you to share photos of your unit with glyph lights on?

Your unit also has dust particles. Have you tried to replace it?

No response from their social media team to date. I am using the same phone.
If the dust particles are visible when glyph lights are off, then get it replaced otherwise you can use it.
But yeah don't believe anyone who says his/her unit is dust-free. All Indian manufactured units have dust issues. I tested almost 20+ phone1, all have dust particles inside the back panel.

Help urgently needed

Hello,
I changed the housing of my HD and throw the broken one away. I was not aware that there some tiny parts that did not come with the spare part - so now I need this tiny silver metal/alu grid which is in front of the speaker on the top of the phone.
Where can I get one? Or do you have any other idea, what I could place there in order to avoid that dirt comes in?
Thanks!
Get a bit of fine stainless mesh from a hardware store or engineering supplier, maybe even an electronic shop.
You could also try a tiny bit of foam glued in there, just have to make sure what ever you use, it isn't touching the speaker driver
Well, all of this doesn't work that well. Are there any other ideas?
Or is it possible to purchase this part somewhere?
Or do you know, how this part is called in English? So that I can search a bit...
yes you could fashion a new one out, lucky its not part of the light sensor, but only sits beside it.
shame too, In my guide I have a specific photo showing not to forget to perform that task (much like not forgetting to reattach the camera when reassembling)

the easiest way to describe it in english is front speaker mesh
you could maybe get one from a mobile repair shop if they have any dead blackstones if you're lucky.
edit: I call it in my thread "front speaker piece grill" but i think that mesh is a better way if describing the part
Thank you!
Well, unfortunately, I have not seen your replacement guide before, in that case I would have been aware of that part.
Do you, or someone else, know some mobile repair shops that repair dead blackstones? Well, I phone HTC Germany and they connected me to Arvato, the shop which officially repairs HTC phones in Germany. But in contrast to HTC, they said they are not allowed to send out spare parts. But I could send it it and they repair it for around 150 Euros (!) for this tiny mesh! Unbelievable...
Look around for small business mobile repair shops, go visit them in person, and discuss with the persons there that you are technical and can competently repair your phone and that you would like to source parts but not pay for their labor.
thats what I did, if you have any markets, its a good place to find these sorts of repair shops which have people who are kind enough to sell parts without obligatory labor and labor charges.
Ok, I contacted every HTC repair shop I found on the Internet from around the world. Most of them did not answer and the others don't have this part.
Do you have a repair shop around? If so, could you give me some email adresses so that I can contact them?
I just had the same problem... I didn't know the new screen with come with the speak mesh... now i have no idea where to get one.
I see qwertylesh is from Melbourne... I am from Melbourne too. Can you please tell me how you repaired yours qwertylesh... thank you.

Bought a Focus and it says "Not for Sale"

Hi.
I bought a Samsung Focus on eBay.
I received a phone with a cracked screen and it says "Not for Sale 1119" on the lower end and in the battery cover.
I can't open a claim on eBay because I live overseas and I received it in over 45 days so I don't have more time.
The phone it's not recognized by my PC when I connected with the USB but it seems to turn on and it makes lock and unlock sounds.
I disassembled it to check if it had every part on it; and it does... it's a full Samsung Focus but it's unbranded...
Now, my questions is... how can I be sure it is not a DEMO Phone or a full phone with a DEMO operating system? Please keep in mind the screen is cracked; digitizer works thou.
I ask this because Focus digitizer/lcd assembly it's quite expensive; and I don't want to spend USD150 for a dummy...

Whoa looks like a prototype unit (very cool dude!). The LED flash placement is shifted to the left. My focus flash is straight under the camera.
If it has a rev.1.3 hardware, even if it's a demo unit, i guess you should be able to flash it with 7004 at&t / rogers rom (assuming you can go into download mode).
If only it's in mint and working condition, it would be awesome. (iPhone 4 prototype unit are priced very high in ebay)

It should be on the sticker where the battery location is. However, I don't see it.
On mine it says Made in Korea, yours is in China. Definitely interesting

It's definitely written "Made in Korea" there .... (-_-; )

Free or pay?
PS - How did you end up with such a dead iconia?
PPS - Hang on a second. Most of the internals are working? Why didn't you rma it?
I didn't RMA due to the estimated costs of repair. I'd be happy to send it to you for free if you don't mind paying the shipping. The board is in full working order. (as far as I know) It is missing the LCD panel, glass, and battery. (As i said earlier) the board should still function, I'd be happy to send the AC adapter too.
PS: I accidentally sat on it (full weight), and it just ruined the screen. I thought the glass was still ok, but it wasn't.

Display comes out of chassis!

Today I was noticing a really strange thing about my display.
When the S4 is lying flat on the table and you look at it from the side you can see that the display is curving out of the chassis. It is hard to explain but the display is not even with the chrome/plastic rim (the one just above the surrounding metal frame) as it should, it stands out (about 1mm). I can push it back into the chassis so that it is perfectly even again but after a fews seconds it stands out again. It seems like the display is glued into the chassis but the glue isn't gluing any longer and the display is slowly working its way out of the chassis.
Does anybody know what I mean?
Or has experienced anything similar?
I wasn't able to take a nice picture of what I mean, you just can't see it in my pictures. But I found a picture of a HTC One with the same problem. I hope you guys can get the idea.

Better don't fix it yourself, just bring it back from where you bought it and ask to fix it.
This is unacceptable for a flagship device and should be replaced/fixed under warranty.
What he said.
Send it back mate. Don`t be tempted to touch it, just ring your provider up and tell them. They are obliged to do it under warranty
Never mind.. my silly mistake.

Will return it under warranty.
The reason I was starting the thread was because I wanted to know if this is a known S4 issue. If other users are experiencing similar problems. Because when there is a chance that this will happen again and again then maybe I'll leave Samsung and go for another device...

No it's a know issue, just happened to be a manufacturing defect.
Try heating it up with a hairdryer and try to push it back into place. The heat will make the glue sticky again so hopefully it will work.

Thanks for your advice, but because I'm (as already mentioned) still under warranty I won't try anything risky as that

NOOO! What is happening to my screen?!?

Out of nowhere I got one line. Then a few weeks later another and now there are 3!
Anyone else experienced this and do you know the cause/fix?
Problem is I bought my phone (G935F) through eGlobal in China. I had faith in Samsung as I never had any issues with their products. Now that I ended up with my first faulty product, I am faced with sending it back to China. Unless Samsung UK will cover the warranty...No idea how it works.

Yeah same problem the LCD is coming loose I bet if you push down hard towards the top of phone by the "G" in Samsung under the ear piece it will go away. Have you dropped it out day on it? Either but parts on Amazon and learn the repair or pay hefty to have it done at a shop. I'd honestly first off putting a heat gun on it while there's added pressure and see if it will re glue it self. I had a bunch of lines on mine and it cleared up a lot but unfortunately not all lines. Good luck
Thanks for the reply. Yes, one of the lines go away if I press in exactly that spot.
I'm not brave enough to start a DIY repair - since it's under warranty, I don't see why I would have to pay anything. It was never dropped - I cherish it like my life depends on it!

Download a pixel filter from the playstore to prevent any new ones from appearing especially useful for phones that have screens on for a great length of time helps safe battery and screen quality.

Too late. Today the screen completely died. Phone works fine (I can take calls), but screen is just black.
Went to the Samsung help centre and they said I need to send it back to the seller (not a UK model).
So back to china at my own expense - or bite the bullet and pay for the fix, but I have no idea what that might be
Gutted....
Its a faulty screen. exactly same happened to me. first the lines then screen completely died. Had to rush to Samsung service centre. They had to change the whole screen. Luckily mine was in warranty so got the screen changed free of cost. All the best !
