Problems with a Vanku Headset - Android Head-Units

I have had an Android headset in my Skoda Superb since March 2021, purchased off Amazon and branded "Vanku". It has 64Gb memory and is running Android 10. For 12 months it worked fine, but since May it has started crashing a couple of popular apps on opening; and these are the main ones that I really need in the car: Waze for GPS navigation, and Audible so I can listen to audiobooks on the move. I use my Samsung mobile as the hotspot for connecting the headset to WiFi, and my other apps (e.g., Sygic and Google Maps) work fine.
After countless resets to factory settings and reinstalls of the apps Waze and Audible, they work for a short time and then they crash on opening. Would anybody be able to throw any light on why this is happening?
Thank you in anticipation.

If you would add the required information, there could be someone to help...
Picture of the "About tablet" wihich shows the MCU and firmware.

Thanks for the reply, but is there an attachment to your message? I can't see what required information is needed!

Hello, if your unit is MTCD/E, then the last update of android system webview and chrome is causing the app crashes, please uninstall and disable these updates, then restart radiation and ignore any requests for updates.

You need to attach the picture or at least the information I ask for:
MCU
Firmware
These information you can find in "About Tablet in the settings menu.

Thank you very much Pavel and Rigattoni, your help is really appreciated. I disabled the Android Webview after a forced stop, and one of apps that previously crashed was working OK; but not all. So I have preformed another factory reset and reinstalled all my apps, and will make sure that Android webview is disabled.
Attached are two photos of the "about" page BEFORE the reset, with the information required:
MCU version - MTCE_HT_V3.53_1, etc.
Thanks again,
John

You have MTCE, I identified the problem well:
Open Settings
Tap Applications.
Click Android System WebView.
Tap more options (three dots)
Tap Uninstall updates.
Turn off automatic updates in Google Play.
Restart the device Ignore any requests for Webview and Chrome updates.
Do the same with Chrome.
A factory reset is useless, a firmware update would help, but I haven't found one that solves this problem yet. Try writing to the seller, maybe he has it.

I asked exactly for the MCU and firmware, as Vanku also sells some units with CSN2 MCU. In this case we would need to dive deeper. But your guess was right. These Vanku with PX6 have a severe issue with Webview... same as some others.

Thank you Pavel, I have noted your instructions and checked my headset. However, since the reset of the headset, "Android Webview" does not appear in the list of apps in Settings; so I have disabled updates in Google Play, and will ignore any updates apart from the apps installed by myself.
So far so good, everything is working fine now; the help from you and Rigattoni is really appreciated!

UnIdentified Headunit

Hey everybody,
I've got an unidentified android headunit installed in my car,
I've been trying to figure out what brand it is ,and if possible i'll update to Kitkat.
Up until now, it seems to look like Icartech s730, but there are few differences between them.
I've searched on the internet few like the MCU version and the kernel version, but I've got nothing out of it.
here are the details:
Uboot version v00.01.13
Kernel version V24.02.25 20140930
OS version Android-4.1.1 V1.01.75
MCU Version V0.60B
I've also attached a photo, there are 4 soft keys (eject, back, home and volume), and a USB port underneath them.
Thanks
have the same
Hello
i have the same head unit & its Symphony SYD-70 BTWi
but as you said it has nothing on the internet related
& the icartech is the one that looks exactly like it with the look difference only
and i bought it from Egypt
I can not find anything on line about that system
where I bought it they say that it is called "TARGET U-1001" (some call it "i-1001" or "android i-1001)
got it as "closed system"- can't install apps. google play is not shown on screen
when I open the browser on this device and going t google play, it starts downloading apps but refuses to install.
does any one know how to hack it so it will be more useful ?
please contact me : [email protected]
thanks

I have the same unit, I did manage to access google play and install apps through it.
Does your steering wheel control work? Mine doesn't get anything from the controls, even when trying to re-assign them.

Fire HD 10 2017 - No GPS Location after Google Play installed

I'd recently installed Google Play onto my Fire HD 10 and noticed my weather apps could no longer access the location services to give me the local weather. It doesn't matter if the apps were downloaded from the Amazon or Play store. The only weather app that still works is the preinstalled one from Amazon. I've checked the Location function is enabled for all the apps within Settings.
Before Google Play installed, the weather apps downloaded from Amazon appstore definitely worked. I'm surprised this issue is not widely known as I've tried a factory reset several times to start again and could reproduce this problem each time.
Please help as this is really annoying as I really want to use the Google Play store.

We jerry rig these things to the point amazon internals cease to function properly, even without root. Location among them. I guess I can go ahead and write a guide this weekend that could put an end to that. In the framework, there are a few pre defined settings for AGPS. These settings use the Google AGPS system. Amazon only has it half set up. There are no servers set either. I have inserted some default settings I have come across on various devices, to at least get a position lock. Google maps has me off by only a few feet. The issue is, Amazon set it up in the framework for AGPS to work, but never activated it. This also prevents adding a gps.conf file because any additions made to the framework AGPS, override any settings set in the system files. What I will do this weekend is start from a fresh framework-res.apk and settings apk, and set only the AGPS settings. If it works, you unfortunately get no visual effect aside from what your apps provide you.

Now I understand, I thought I might have a faulty HD 10 as no one else has mentioned this problem but somehow knew it must be a software issue as before Google Play it worked fine. It will be fantastic if you could fix this. At the moment I have not rooted my HD 10 but if it is necessary then I'm willing to do this to implement the fix. Good luck and thanks.

I'm not even sure the AGPS settings work myself. I'm just speaking based on my experience so far. Very very few providers use the agps settings in the framework because their devices support GPS. The HD 10 supports GPS. Even has a GPS chip. However, the instructions sent to the preloader at boot tell the preloader GPS is unsupported. I can switch the settings in the Project config.mk, but if it doesn't match the values set in the preloader, the preloader overrides the settings in the .mk. it also links to the other loader too so that would also need to be modified. But without an unlocked bootloader, we can't make changes to those imgs without bricking the tablet. I wish we could take the preloader settings from the HD 8 and load them into the HD 10 preloader. All we need to tweak is the cpu specs and it would be good to go. Damn you Amazon.

So the HD 10 has a real GPS built-in, that's interesting. I wonder is that why a compass pointer appears momentarily at the top of the screen when the Amazon weather app accesses the location services. Never mind but thanks for your effort to look into this. Yes damn you Amazon indeed.

Because the HD 10, and pretty much all modern Amazon tablets have 'HERE Positioning' which has no activity and can't be launched, but is the driver for Amazon location services. What little I can gather from the company, they specialize in indoor GPS and uses a similar system to agps. I imagine a user interface arises when you are registered to certain Amazon interfaces, but I've never experimented with an Amazon tablet fully registered and used on Amazon software.
Point being, there is a GPS chip. Look in /system/data/misc at ProjectConfig.mk you'll see the device includes a GPS chip from an older chipset, but the following line says GPS-support=no. the only way to fix this is to modify the kernel. If you scroll to the bottom you'll see a few director locations, like the preloader. The preloader is going to default to whatever it's programmed to, but I've never looked at it. You can edit the file to say yes, but if it doesn't match what the preloaders say, they will override the changes to the make file and boot to set defaults.
Can it be changed? Yes. Will it boot? The chances are slim to none. Modifying any of those partitions and recompiling them will brick the device beyond repair. Locked bootloader means signature verification is active. You modify the prelaoder or boot images, the device will soft or permanent brick.
There is one good thing about this kernel make file. With root, you can add any of the MTK values that say yes, to the build prop, if they aren't already there. for example, from the make file we have:
Code:
MTK_SIM_HOT_SWAP = yes
This is included in the build, but is not supported in the build prop, or the framework (we don't have a mobile device). But if the framework we're not predefined and this were a cell phone, you could add the above to the build prop as:
Code:
ro.mtk_sim_hot_swap_support=1
and so on...
I'm hoping Devo mode will change all of this and then some.
I bought Fire HD 10 for using as head unit in my car. Therefore, Navigation is important for me. Initially I rooted device and tried some offline navigation apps like Maps.me and Here we Go. None of them worked and finally I decided to restore Fire OS to 5.6.1.0 hoping for navigation to work with the apps. It didn't work, now I am wondering if mine is bad unit or GPS is expected not to work.

The GPS chip is disabled in the kernel. If you have flash fire set up, try flashing nano gapps. when I am settled from moving, I'll post and updated framework apk that I've been working on that should help with location.

So it seems I may have found the issue. When you set up the play store, before installing Google, make sure 'find my device' is NOT set as administrator at least until you get the pop up that asks if you want to use Google's enhanced location services.
Was trying to solve this problem on a tablet I wanted to use as a jukebox in my car. The jukebox app required location services so that only nearby users could add songs.
On a whim I installed Google Maps from the Play Store, pressed the compass/zoom on my location button within Maps, and that prompted me to turn on Google Location Services. This was on a 5th gen Fire 7 downgraded to FireOS 5.4.0. YMMV with other tablets/OS version.

Thank you, DragonFire1024. I'm glad I found this thread. I haven't had my Fire HD 10 but a week yet (so not too far along into all of the installs and whatnot that I want to do--Play Store was the very first thing I did after some basic configuration that unfortunately included the setting you mentioned) and am wondering if it's worth a factory reset to attempt this fix.

It depends how bad you want location services to work. If you aren't too concerned, you can install a GPS spoofer and just use it whenever you need location services. The issue with using one of those, keeping a spoofer running all the time will drain your battery quick.
They say they have the chip for GPS but do they have the antenna?

I don't know. All I know is the chip is there, but Amazon had it disabled at build. It's evident in the .mk file in /system/data/misc on the HD 10:
Code:
MTK_GPS_CHIP = MTK_GPS_MT6630
MTK_GPS_SUPPORT = no
Christ, what a bummer. At least I use wx apps where I can input location manually. (Eweather HD, PYKL3 radar)

There are a few good GPS emulator apps out there as well.
Could anyone tell me if any fix for this having found? Pleade, should I uninstall Google play and grant access to my location to any one?
Here is what I found on my own, if you enable Scanning Wifi and Scanning Blue Tooth which were disabled by Default the location works in some applications.

This worked like a charm for my 2019 HD10. Installed Google play & services immediately after unboxing and no weather app would work. I installed Google maps as you suggested and clicked OK at the prompt to turn on location services and presto, all weather apps are now working. Thank you.
Pretty old thread, but hopefully someone will stumble upon this easy fix.
Hello everybody.
I just got the most current Fire HD 10+ (11th Gen, with 4GB) on a Black Friday deal to use mainly as a car Media and Navigation unit, but the GPS Performance is absolutely terrible.
The included Maps app (Nokia's Here) is barebones and can give you instructions but not precise navigation, so I followed a guide to install Google Services/Play Store and Google Maps.
The GPS kinda works, but mostly when I'm stationary. As soon as I move, it loses satellite signal, and it is veeeery sloppy. Sometimes I need to close the app and open again to have some update (you can imagine how trying this can be while driving on a Freeway).
I spent almost 30 minutes doing "the infinity" symbol to improve accuracy, but Google Maps still says the accuracy is very low.
Any advice on what can I do to make this a usable navigation device?
Thank you

Hello,
I recently purchased this unit:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001723766214.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.52f54c4dcVJLhn
The install was a little difficult but went okay. For some reason when I try to login to login to google playstore it automatically closes. I have tried allowing app permissions and clearing storage and cache. It says it is running Android 10 API 29 (qp1a.190711.l020). It has carlink installed but does not seem to recognize my phone. I have managed to get the Bluetooth working, but I guess I should have done more research and gotten a unit that other people have. Do I risk bricking the device if I try to flash another version of android onto it? I like the DSP and some of the features but I can't even log in to google. Also could someone tell me if this is MTCD or the other? The company is responding to my questions so far but it was really late in China when I told them I can't log in to google, so hopefully they message me with a fix tomorrow. There seems to be 4 instances of an app called "Launcher 3" and an app called "App store" that says it could ruin my device if I try to uninstall so I just disabled it. This thing seemed to have all the features on paper, 8 cores, 128gb ram, 4gb rom, DSP, dash cam, rear view cam, optical audio out, 4g antenna, external sim card, gps antenna, 5 g capability... you name it. They "accidentally" sent me the 64 gb version instead of 128gb but they sent me a free dash cam and tpms to make up for the mistake (which they denied at first). If anyone knows why google would be doing this and a fix please let me know. Big let down for 450 bucks.
Please post a picture of the system about screen for your unit, that would help determine if it is MTCD/E. You should be able to find such a screen in the settings.
You're pretty lucky that they're responding to your inquiries. There is a chance that your head unit is not running Android 10 and may be fake in many regards (e.g. running much earlier version and "claiming" to be Android 10)).

Thank you for the quick response. Yeah, at least they are responding. If you click the add it looks so legit with the 8 core 64 gb 4 gb ram. But my home screen looks nothing like what they advertise.View attachment Home screen.webp
Please scroll the view up on the about screen and take another picture. It is hard to see with what looks like plastic film on the screen. Would like to see the MCU version and perhaps additional information. Thank you for posting the first picture.
Oh and my pleasure to try to help you. We need to determine for sure what the head unit is and if it's MTCD/E I along with others here in the forums would be glad to try to answer your questions and help you resolve the issues you're having.
Sorry it's super bright out. Here ya go.
The only units I could find that use that particular CPU (UIS7862) are Joying branded head units. Their units are not MTCD/E. That being said, this thread probably should be moved to Android Head Units as the discussion in that forum are for non MTCx head units.
I will offer you this suggestion regarding the Google login issue, try opening the YouTube app or Google search app and try logging in from one of those. Alternatively locate the Accounts section in the settings and see if you can login to Google from there. That may help with the Google Play launching issue. If you can get GP to launch then you will be able to get Play Services updated and other applicable updates to make the Google apps/ecosystem work.
Once you get Google Play working, I would suggest installing an app like CPU-Z to see what your system consists of.
One more thing, welcome to the XDA community.

For sure, I have heard the Joying are decent. I haven't been able to get it to interface with my phone other than viewing it as files. I cant do the mirror screen split screen that is advertised in the AliExpress ad. I tried to download Zlink apk and install it (disabled third party app restriction) and it said not installed. Maybe I need an older version than 4.0.6? Unfortunately none of your tips worked, even the google one, but thank you so much for taking the time to assist me. Hopefully the seller has a fix for this, as I am not great with android.
Requested via report to move to Android Head units forum.
Sorry that my suggestions did not work for you. I have asked the forum moderators to move this thread to the Android Head units forum where maybe someone in that forum maybe has experience with the same or similar head units as yours. Suggest searching the forums here as I'm confident that somebody has solved the Google login problems you are experiencing.
Your head unit should just work out of the box. I would not recommend updating firmware or such major changes before getting your unit working at a minimum as you expect. Thing with that is how will you know if additional problems that you might encounter are from the update vs what you have now?

Already done same before. Thank you.
By selecting one of the variants of launcher as the default launcher app you should be able to get the user interface to look as shown on the ad where you bought the unit. Since these devices are sold under many brand names, they often include many different launchers which is what provides the user experience seen when the system boots up.
You should find a default apps selection in the settings where you can pick the default launcher.
One more suggestion that might get it where you can login to Google would be to locate the factory reset option in the settings. Since you couldn't install any new apps on it anyway, not much to lose customization wise.
I believe there is a system patch for the FYT IS7862 units. My IDoing came working so I assume it was already patched, but if you head to the Joying thread you'll see posts about a system patch. Not sure that patch will work for your unit, I think that's what you need.
Actually, they are being pretty helpful. They just sent me an update I have yet to install (kind of afraid as it is working now and I realized I don't really need google integration. Here is a screenshot. Good to know it is a FYT IS7862 unit.
Here is the new firmware she sent me and instructions. Honestly kinda scared. She didn't tell me what I am upgrading to, she just said new version. Maybe someone could check this RAR out if they have time?
https://wetransfer.com/downloads/2f...6e4ab0a57f920b634846c7f920210515022252/aac7ff
Just for fun I went to the download page and did a screenshot of the page. I then ran the screenshot through the Google translate app. With the transition set to go from Chinese to English, the download link says "overseas system. rar".
You could possibly run the PNG file that you attached to your post thru Google translate and maybe figure out the filenames. The picture is not clear enough to do the same as the picture resolution is pretty bad. Was hoping maybe the download filename would offer some clues about what the rar file contains.
Maybe you could request from whoever sent you the link, an English version of the download if available. Granted they say something about English text showing up in green after the flash. I could totally understand your apprehension since you cannot read the filenames.
I could unrar the file and try getting filename translations, might be helpful.
Man, I really appreciate you looking into that for me. I went ahead and bit the bullet and did it and it booted up with a different theme and reset to factory settings. Seems to be dropping my home wifi connection now. I havent tried putting a sim card in the unit yet, as I only have a micro sim from my tablet. I asked her several times what we are upgrading and she said it's not the android version, but a fix to make google login work. So, I went to login to google and instead of getting hung up and crashing after the "checking info..." screen it actually had a box to type my gmail address and let me type it and press login. Then it said "Cannot contact google servers, try again later.
This 1.4 GB file seems large for a small fix. There were like three ZIP files in the rar. Also, when I look at what is using memory on the unit there are like 10 apps I didn't open in the background. Makes me feel like the mfg. has some spyware or malware on the unit. Isn't it commonplace to completely wipe one of these units clean and install a different version of android? Why couldn't I just install android 11? Is it becasue I wont be able to find the apks for unique apps and functionality on there?
They usually (never) provide system patches that fix one specific thing. By providing the whole system update it still makes it impossible to know exactly what's being installed.
Unfortunately it's not so simple to go from one version of Android to another as they intentionally make it difficult to do. It kind of puts a lifespan on these units. There's always gonna be something broken or something that will eventually break rendering the unit useless or just be a flaw that you end up accepting. Plus by limiting the Android version its planned obsolescence as updates won't always be available forever.
Maybe and it's a big maybe you can find an alternative ROM for your particular system right here on XDA. Those are becoming more and more rare because of numerous factors however.
I wouldn't recommend logging into the head unit with a Google account that has a payment method associated with it. Maybe create a whole new Google account just in case? Also you could try going somewhere that you can get free public WiFi (e.g WalMart, McDonald's, etc). All that would do is confirm it works, for what it's worth.
Regarding the wifi connectivity issue, was it able to connect to the same wifi before applying that provided update? Is the wifi signal strength good? It's likely connecting to the wifi but not getting an IP address and other connection parameters and disconnecting on failure. There is an advanced workaround that involves manually setting the network connection parameters (e.g IP address, etc) but you'd need to be comfortable with doing that sort of thing. Let me know if interested.
Despite the update essentially doing a factory reset as part of the firmware installation, I suggest manually doing a factory reset. Maybe even do the reset a couple times just to be sure. Truth is that the device should just work out of the box without the extra contortions.
Apparently the Google login problem is a common issue and there are claims of Google hacks on these units as well:
Post in thread 'New Joying Android 10 UIS7862 Octacore 1.8GHz (4GB RAM, 64GB flash)' https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...8ghz-4gb-ram-64gb-flash.4168069/post-85003075
I was looking at one of these on Aliexpress and found this thread. @CaliBurr, do you have any updates on how this is unit is working out for you?

Yulu E10 Plus - Auto Start Apps/Alexa

I currently have the Yulu E10 Plus for F150. My specifications are attached. I have an Alexa Auto that works well with the device, however, in order for it to connect the Alexa app requires it is open. I wanted to automate the opening of the Alexa app, however, there appears to be no native way to do it. I tried using an app like Tasker or Automate but it has a couple of problems.
1. The device kills all apps that the user opens when it sleeps or restarts.
2. Accessibility settings are turned off after each sleep/reboot.
I wanted to root to whitelist certain apps but there does not appear to be solid information on how to accomplish that for this model of head unit. It does have the UIS7682 CPU but none of the information I have found in the forums covers that along with the specific MCU and System version. Want to be sure as to not brick my device.
Wondering if anyone has advice or experience with this type of head unit.
Thanks in advance!

First you could check if your device has the option to auto start the navigation app and if you can set another app as navigation app.

Android unbranded for car lost Zlink

Hello all,
I've just got an Android unbranded tablet for my car (BMW E82) yesterday.
It's a 10.25 touch screen with Android 10.
Under System Information, I can read: version HY: V2.32.4core.201113.
I can enter to factory settings via 8888 code.
It came with Zlink already installed, and I could make it work perfectly yesterday with my iphone & wireless carplay.
(I can't remember actually if it was Zlink or Zlink5 but it worked good).
Today, I mistakenly cliked on reset to factory, and after the headunit rebooted, the Zlink app is not present anymore.
I am struggling to get it back...
I have found some Zlink apk files in forums, but none worked for me.
Does anyone know if it's pre-installed somewhere on the head unit, and I just need to enable it ?
Or should I install it with an apk file ?
Thank you in advance,

The Zlink app that I have found in Play Store asks for an activation... Which seems to not be free.
Does anyone know if it's pre-installed somewhere on the head unit, and I just need to enable it ?

i think you can find it in settings then in factory settings it might your factory setting have password 1617 or 2010 try any one of this password. there you will find the option name feature settings in there find “phone connected” or something like this tick that option and you are ready to rock again.

Hi Rooblevarn,
Thank you for your reply.
I tried the 1617 and 2010 passwords, but they don't work on my Head unit.
The only password that worked for me so far it's 8888.
I can then get into a factory menu as shown in attached picture.
I have looked everywhere in those menus, but I can't find anythink similar to "phone connected".
I suppose that Zlink app was installed manually by the vendor before he sold me the head unit, and the only way for me to get Zlink back, is that the vendor send me the file that match this unit to be installed....
Problem is that I don't have vendor contact.
I've been in contact with one of the vendors of an Android 11 HU I recently purchased,
#1 - It's tough to communicate with them
( they are all in China, and it's clear they translate English using Google-T )
I don't know the specific build for your system, but Zlink is somehow tied into the entire Android Build Version which they custom build for each HEAD Unit.
I have provided two different files here. READ this carefully.
The file starting with:
gongban_92_Zlink - is the older version of Zlink. It may be less resource intensive, but it works similarly to the new Zlink5 version.
The file starting with:
gongban_F92XX_Zlink5 - is the newer version of Zlink ( or at least as new as it can get) ( This was given to me by the manufacturer's tech dept in March of 2023. )
The way I was told to install these is to:
- Save which ever one you want to install onto an empty USB stick.
- DO NOT change the name or the extension of the file.
- Plug in the USB stick
- Open Your App Drawer > Find Car Settings > Find System Information
- There could be a button on that System Information screen that says: Android Update ( This button was greyed out(unaccessible) until plugged in my USB drive.)
- You hit that button and wait for the update to finish. everything is automatic from that point.
- When successful you would notice a new Zlink app in your app drawer. It might even automatically launch after system reboots.
BEFORE YOU GO TRYING THESE STEPS THOUGH:
Understand that these apps are custom built to access bluetooth and Wifi functions of the Android system.
If they are not installed correctly they might
A: Not work at all
B: Brick your device
Here are some photos of the specs of my device and some screen shots of how the settings pages look and where you can find update options (given you have the right update files):
How old Zlink app looks:
How new Zlink5 apps looks:
Settings Page:
and finally ABOUT FACTORY SETTINGS and your app disappearing:
When you hit Factory Settings ( and get into the main screen:
You should see an option called APPS:
When you enter that there could be a screen with the header: XYZ apps
XYZ apps is a custom system settings app which forces apps to boot with the head unit, and never allows them to force quit. ( This app in not attainable on the app store - is what I mean by custom)
Before you go installing any updates or files, find the APPS section in factory settings and see if Zlink is on that list.
The list is "check-able" - like toggles or check marks
- If you see the app there and it is UNCHECKED then CHECK IT, go back a page and find Reboot.
Then see if you app appears again.
If you don't see it.. well.. that's beyond my understanding, but most likely you would need to install them through a USB port like I detailed above.
Weather or not MY attached files will be suitable for your system is a whole other question.
One other thing:
- I'm not a developer and I don't know how build versions work on Android and how each aspect of each function affects other aspects:
But it is clear that the Chinese devs who write these Android builds are forcing certain apps to run in the background.
Having said that.
NEVER connect your Android head unit to Wifi and use it to access Personal Information or store passwords.
These aren't ATT or Verizon head units. They are made by a foreign company who is most likely under the umbrella of laws and regulations which allow the military to snoop on customer data in the name of the motherland...
The only way I use my headunit, is for it's radio, and the Android Auto function for navigation.. (whenever Zlink isn't crashing)
I don't allow any internet connection to the unit as it is not necessary. As a driver all you need in a car is a map and some tunes.

Thank you for your reply ! It helps to understand a lot of things.
Well, today I went back to the (physical) shop where I initialy bought the device last week.
I told them that Zlink is no more available and to me, it's the most important feature on the tablet.
They tried to reapply a new Reset factory settings, expecting that Zlink will be back with that, but it wasn't back. As they couldn't find a solution, I asked to replace the HU.
At first, it was a 2/32 GB (Android 10), and they replaced it with another with 8/64GB (Android 11) from the same manufacturing (on the box I can read J-1018)
Wouah ! Now it makes all the difference !
The device is much faster, and now when I go to factory settings (with 8888), I can find there a menu, like the one you are mentionning, called in my device "Type selection" as seen in attached picture.
This menu was not present in the previous 2/32 GB device...
Now as per the seller, even if I hit on Reset factory settings, I will always have the ability to restore Zlink (which a built-in version, quite old as it is 3.8.8 but it does the job).
I think we could have found a solution on the 2/32 GB (Android 10) with the help of your files. But I don't have anymore the device, so can't test it.
I hope someone else from the forum with the same problem can test them, and reply back if they are helpful.
In all cases, I am happy that this issue occured on the first device, because thanks to that, I have now a 8/64 GB instead, and I can only recommend to anyone buying a new Android HU, to choose as minimum 4 or 8GB of RAM, and 64 or 128 GB for stock memory. It is the minimum nowadays.
