This is the right way to ask a question. Spamming the forum sucks for everyone. Here check this out for the rest you're on your own coz spamming the forum sucks for everyone.
Good Evening all, I picked up a new car from auction this week and it has an aftermarket head unit installed.
It's an Audi A4 b7 2007. And I think I have identified the head unit as a xtrons model. (unable to post links)
I have a previous knowledge of rooting android phones and I suspect that the head unit has been rooted..... Badly... and it doesn't work as I would expect. Buttons do the wrong thing and there is an error code down at the bottom of the screen for
version mismatch 01.
There is also a beeping tone every 10/15 seconds which is highly annoying!
It is running the following aparently.
Android 8
Security patch 2017
Kernel 4.4 93
Build px5 malaysk 3.5 8.0. 0 OPR5
On boot it appears to be running a maya mod 3.5 or something similar.
Im quite happy to flash back to stock at the moment, as I havnt got time to be messing around with it. Which I will probably do in the future.
Where do I start to try and undo all of the garbage that has been installed and made it unusable?
Having not got it to this point, it's very hard to understand how to get it back!
Thanks in advance,
Tom
I am assumimg you have a MTCD type headunits..due to malaysk rom. (If mcu startss with MTCD or MTCE string then i guessed well)
If you think you have an xtrons px5
..then you have to find the mcu for the xtrons manufacturer to do an update. That error comes from being upgraded to mcu from other manufacturer....
Otherwise
So go to match subforums and search "mcu version mismatch" and you can override the error (beep and medsage will disappear)
On that subforum you can find android uogrades for the dame android 8 version or you can upgrade to android o or android 10....but you need to upgrade your rexovery partition first....search and read first

Hello,
about two years ago I purchased myself a nice head unit for my BMW and it has been working nice since then, but it's on Android 9 and Google Maps won't update anymore on my unit. I'd like to know how to upgrade my unit to newer Android version and if it's even possible. Disclaimer - I've never done that before so I'd like to do it as safely as possible so I won't accidentaly brick it because os wrong software or something
The specs listed in the device are as follows:
Android version: 9
Compilation number: rk3358-userdebug 9 PQ2A. 190305.002 20190612.101357 test-keys
Kernel version: 4.4.167
MCU version: MTCE_CHS_V3.02_1
Also, there are MCU update and device update buttons in the settings, but the device won't do anything when I press the device update button and MCU update one tells me that there is no MCU file. What is this?
Not a single person know how to do that?

So I shouldn't post on XDA but rather search for MTCD forums?
Suggest a read of the MTCD sub-forum of XDA. Your unit is an MTCD/E, which there is plenty of info about.

Hello humans,
I have been looking to upgrade my tesla style headunit px3 coreboard to a px6 and have some questions regarding this upgrade about software compatibility.
first: My unit is now running a 4.4.2 kitkat android version. Will this cause any problems for the px6?
second: Is there a place where i can find car specific MCU software (Astra J)?
third: I found that a user here has made his own android version for these screens. Will i be able to simply use that to upgrade my android?
Thanks!
