[Guide]How To Root Honor 5X Running Marshmallow

As we all know Indian variant of honor 5X received official Marshmallow update from Huawei .So in this guide I am gonna show you guys how to root it.
Lets Begin
Requirements:
1)Honor 5x
2)Unlocked Bootloader
If you don't have unlocked bootloader then don't worry just follow this guide

Again all credit goes to Chainfire.I just mirrored the specific build.
Steps
1)After unlocking bootloader install twrp.
2)Copy Beta SuperSU to your internal memory or external sd.
3)Boot into twrp and swipe to allow modifications to system.
4)Tap install and locate the SuperSU zip.
5)Wait until it finishes flashing and then hit reboot.

tell me the exact version number please. i tried latest stable and beta but both didnt work for me.

The EMUI website isn't working for me. Can someone help me here? I want to get the unlock code.

Hey guys, I'm having trouble accessing the unlocking website, it just crashes. Can someone help me out here? I can't create a nickname. Each time it says wrong nickname or duplicate nickname, even after following the naming convention.

i tried all the versions including latest release and latest beta release. and the link mentioned in the description. i tried all but nothing worked.

anyone else tried marshmallow I am thinking about rooting my phone to try this.

which twrp version are you using... if you are using older one then update it to latest one and then try...

You should use SuperSU 2.79. Rooted the KII-L05 with it last night -- this is a GR5 (Canadian variant of the Honor 5X).

Rooting OnePlus 2

Since we won't get any updates I've decided to root my device but before I do so I would like to know if the official root tutorial uploaded by OnePlus would work with Oxygen OS 3.6.0 and what are the usual problems that may come with a failed root.

Yes it will work. Oneplus' firmware is easy to root. You'll not lose any data on unlocking the bootloader either(not guaranteed. I didn't). Just go ahead with it.

Ok, so just to make sure I download the latest TWRP version for OP2 and the latest SuperSU (2.82) and follow the tutorial and I should be fine?

Magisk v15.0, anyone using it on their PH-1?

I seen that Magisk was updated to version 15.0 so I was wondering if anyone had problems with it and how you updated from the previous version. Thank you.

I was getting reboots on v14.3 and v14.6 on Oreo Beta 2 but I have not gotten a single reboot since flashing v15.0 earlier today (been running for maybe 8 hours now.)

I'm on 15 and it is solid

No issues yet. Safety net is okay.

I'm also using it with no problems. I rooted the phone using the intructions from Magisk to root the pixel phones and it worked great, no need to use twrp.

So far so good on 15.0
No reboots o Android auto for my 2 driving sessions. If I was on 14.3, would have happened already

My phone bootloop if i update from 14.5 (beta) to 15. Fortunately i had a backup and i restored boot partition through twrp...

What rom do you use for passing safetynet?

I'm stock except for some thermal tweaks

I am unable to upgrade v15. Whenever I try to install the zip from magisk manager it says done but after reboot it shows no root Install magisk. Please help. I m on J7 2017 with Arm build 7.0 nougat. Currently on Magisk v13.3

Which guide? Because 3 years later there are many guides with caveats towards the end of their threads where users say "this method doesn't work."

you can use magisk 18 also

I just recently installed b20, had trouble installing it had to oem lock and oem unlock in b15 edl then update through official recovery to get the thing to install. Well the playstore store now shows device not certified on a clean install, im guessing its because of the oem unlock.

Thanks. I was able to get back from Oreo to Marshmallow via Jcadduno's instructions in the rom/kernel sticky. Used MiFlash + B19 EDL package and then was able to get into fastboot & oem unlock.
I'd like to get to a state of stock Oreo + TWRP + Magisk. Has that combination been achieved by anyone?

Is your playstore certified? Cause on my clean install before i installed any other stuff showed device not certified.

That's odd, I've tried it in MIUI Global, EU, GSI and worked perfectly.
Are you planning to install other ROM?

I will try on xiaomi.eu rom and see how it goes.
Couple of questions :
1) I have finished setup of MIUI Gloabl ROM after installation via fastboot, added xiaomi account and added PIN screen lock.
Only after that I flashed TWRP and flashed Magisk (TWRP ask for PIN in order to decrypt partition), at that point I got bootloop.
I have done only wipe cache/dalvik, do you think a complete wipe is necessary ?
2) Can you tell me the exact steps you've taken if you don't mind ?
3) Is it possible to remove xiaomi account and then factory reset the phone ? (I am asking cause after I flashed via fastboot first thing I had to do was to insert xiaomi account password)

Thanks, currently running xiaomi.eu as daily driver, all working fine so far.
Only two big issues:
1 Android auto not working
2 Google pay not working
Both hopefully will be solved with future releases of the ROM.

Tried Google Pay with the Global ROM (not rooted) and it didn't work either. The payment terminal in the store just said that the card is not readable. Anybody here who successfully paid with Google Pay and the K20 pro or the Mi9T?
