Which guide? Because 3 years later there are many guides with caveats towards the end of their threads where users say "this method doesn't work."

you can use magisk 18 also
I just recently installed b20, had trouble installing it had to oem lock and oem unlock in b15 edl then update through official recovery to get the thing to install. Well the playstore store now shows device not certified on a clean install, im guessing its because of the oem unlock.

Thanks. I was able to get back from Oreo to Marshmallow via Jcadduno's instructions in the rom/kernel sticky. Used MiFlash + B19 EDL package and then was able to get into fastboot & oem unlock.
I'd like to get to a state of stock Oreo + TWRP + Magisk. Has that combination been achieved by anyone?
Is your playstore certified? Cause on my clean install before i installed any other stuff showed device not certified.

Hi folks,
I just got my self A2017G global variant and on B08 firmware and i had been reading all the threads and seems like there isn't any way to BL unlock and root A2017G model yet right?
And i'm also really confused, if you need to root you need to have BL unlock? Due to flashing TWRP recoveries?
Thank in advance !

I'd say no, I did this and my phone had issues booting, I was able to unlock the bootloader after a few attempts and then re-flashed the supersu zip.

Follow this thread to install TWRP, BLunlock and root : https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/guide-install-twrp-unlock-bl-flash-t3517379
As @bungie240 quoted : installing TWRP and directly flash Supersu 2.65 gave booting problems. He had first to unlock BL and then flash Supersu again.
Hi folks,
i have the same problem: A2017G V1.0.0B10
I followed this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/guide-install-twrp-unlock-bl-flash-t3517379
Can't find TWRP that works with my Version. I have Tried TWRP ailsa_ii 3.0.3, 3.0.3.1, 3.0.4
Neither worked. Booting with Volume up and Power-Button will always lead into black screen with red led.
Normal Boot works, i am not rooted. Stock ROM.
I would really like to go to LOS 14.1 but there seems to be no way.
Does anybody have any ideas?
Thx
Same here.. I can't download the twrp at http://d-h.st/dgWW as in the guide

Had the same issue, you have to flash the twrp in the OP that is 3.0.2.
The others fail to flash, then upgrade the desired version once you have twrp working

I can probably see right now, you've done it wrong... Download stock rom from huawei.consumer... For some reason i thought it's gonna be android MM, but it was android N, so no problem here, just download stock rom and you will have newest android.
You probably downloader rom from xda, rom it's in .zip right? And you tried to flash it with TWRP?

Yesterday I had this issue, it's more easy than it seems. In Revolution Recovery for Nougat, flash the update.app ZIP with 6.0 , it will show you a lot of errors, but don't worry, it's ok. After this flash than DUALSIMOEM.zip and after that shutdown your phone and use the 3 buttons method to automatically ,,update" to B161.

That's because u don t have the bootloader unlocked Also, verify in Developer Options to have Enable OEM on, that's why you have an error in CMD

Uhh try not using stock recovery, just go to Settings and Updates
But you need one of the full updates (~2.5gb) and original from ZTE. and unzipped

Hi guys and gals,
I am ordering the Moto E4 right now and it comes unlocked already. Now do I have to root it, or since it is unlocked it is rooted already? Also since it is unlocked can I just use a one click root?
Unlocked means SIM unlocked. You must unlock bootloader, flash custom recovery and flash supersu through custom recovery
