Hidden Features in the ColorOS Launcher - OPPO Find X5 Pro General

The OPPO Find X5 Pro ships with ColorOS 12.1. Throughout the system, there are tons of features and settings that you might look over. The ColorOS launcher has plenty of settings that let you manipulate the way that your launcher behaves. While you might be familiar with the standard options that let you change the look of your homescreen, there are more settings that you might find useful. These are some of the hidden features that I have found in the ColorOS launcher.
Icon pull-down gestureNo need to stress your thumb to reach apps in the top corner of your screen. Activate the icon pull-down gesture to bring the apps closer together for easier access. Once, activated, you can swipe from the bottom left corner of your screen, which will bring all of the app icons near your thumb. Then you slide your thumb to the app of want and open it. This can all be done with one gesture, where your thumb does not need to tap the screen more than once.

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
To activate icon pull-down gesture:
Press and hold on your homescreen
Go to more
Go to Icon pull-down gesture
Toggle on
Double-tap to lockThis feature will let you lock your phone by double-tapping in an empty space on the home screen. I find that I tend to set my phone down, before locking it. When this happens, it's much easier to double-tap than it is to press the power button, which requires me to pick my phone up again. This also works to wake my phone when the screen is off.
To activate double-tap to lock:
Press and hold on your homescreen
Go to more
Go to Icon pull-down gesture
Toggle on
Rise to wakeAnother way of waking my phone, which I like to use in combination with the double-tap, is rise to wake. When you pick up your phone or pull it out of your pocket, the screen will turn on. This is different than the always-on display feature, as it takes you right to your screen lock.
To activate Rise to wake:
Press and hold on your homescreen
Go to more
Go to Rise to wake
Toggle on
Icon autofillIf you're not interested in spending time to arrange your homescreen apps yourself, you can simply turn on icon autofill. This feature will automatically arrange your icons from left to right, top to bottom, in a natural style.
To activate Icon autofill:
Press and hold on your homescreen
Go to more
Go to Icon autofill
Toggle on
These are some of the best hidden features from the ColorOS launcher that I could find. Have you found anything else? Leave a comment and let us know!
Thanks to OPPO for supporting this thread.

I made folders on the home screen (since I haven't found a way to organise the apps in the app drawer that way) and now notice that the Icon pull-down gesture does work to open a folder but then the icons in that folder can't be summoned in reach of my thumb by doing another Icon pull-down gesture.
Pity.

Or is there any app that does this? It is just so handy, being able to toggle from anywhere and access the settings on long press.
Notification Toggle
Notification Toggle
Excellent App. Using it myself.
Description
Notification Toggle creates notifications in the Android status bar to let you quickly switch WiFi, Bluetooth, Silent mode, Screen rotation and Flight mode on and off or to adjust the screen brigthness (and many more...)
You can also add shortcut to your own apps right into the notification bar!
In the settings, you can choose which notifications should be active. On some devices, you can also enable the 'all in one' notification, which lets you toggle all features in just one notification (unfortunately this doesn't work on some devices - you will get a popup to select the toggle feature if your device doesnt support multiple notification clicks)
------------------
More information & beta releases can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037817
If you don't like the default icons, press your menue button in the app, select 'Skin' and use your own icons. Some icons are slightly modified ones from the MetroStation Icon-Pack by yankoa (http://yankoa.deviantart.com/)
Some notes:
- not every toggle will work on every device
- some settings aren't changeable by user apps, so it will bring you directly to the android settings
- "all in one" toggle might display a dialog to choose the setting to toggle. if this happens then your device doesn't support notification with more than one click-events
- if you see the settings activity when clicking the "all in one" or the brightness toggle: exit the settings activity with your back-button, not with the home-button

If you mean transparency, you can enable it in UOT kitchen, for Cyanogen Mod 7 only though.

With our Galaxy S4, I can't figure out how to get the 'Dash Clock' widget on the lock screen ?
Aldo the S4 lock screen doesn't seem to allow swiping to the left or tight for the other lockreens, to add widgets and stuff ?

Ok, I did that, and then I press on the lock screen before I swipe to open it, and hold press the screen, trying to add widgets nothing happening, and the option to swipe left or right on the lock screen, just doesn't work at all it seems on Touchwiz ?

comatose1978 has it right. After you select that setting, go back to the lock screen and swipe left and hit the Plus Sign to add the widget. After you have it added, press and hold to reorder them, to make Dash Clock the default.
When you drag right or left, make sure you are dragging on the widget its self, not the empty area on the screen (cause then it will trigger the swipe to unlock).
Attatched is a screenshot of my phone, held halfway between lockscreen widget pages.

Great thank you. But I just installed Widget Locker instead, gave me more options, and seems to go better with Dash Clock than the stock Touchwiz lock-screen.
Is there a ability to set dashclock as the main lookscreen and use it, when you have a look pattern?

You cannot add custom widgets to the lockscreen with security enabled, like a lock pattern.
No, I'm pretty sure an xposed module let's you use widgets with security on. Could be wrong though

And how?

Here is the module:

[NO ROOT] No navbar | Pie controls - Free your screen and prevent burn-ins

Don't you hate the navbar?
Isn't it way to big and destroys look of the beautiful big screen?
And what about burn-ins?
There's a simple solution.
Completely hide the navbar and use PIE instead.
And it even makes one hand usage easier. Especially for S8+.
You no longer have to try to reach the statusbar or the back or recents button - doesn't matter on which hand you hold the phone.

}
Info:
This is a no-root solution. This won't trip knox nor will you loose your phones guarantee.
Anyway, all these steps are described as is and everything you do is on your own risk.
Don't blame me if anything goes wrong. But there isn't anything risky at all, so you should be safe.
Step-by-step guide:
Go to PlayStore and download Shortcutter Quick Settings and Pie Control
Go into Android settings and select developer settings at the very bottom (if you don't have it, do the steps described here)
Activate USB-Debugging
Make sure ADB and the needed drivers are installed on your computer. If not, do the 15 seconds installation described here.
Connect your phone to your computer and approve/allow all dialogs coming up on your phone.
Open CMD on your computer and write in the following 'adb shell pm grant com.leedroid.shortcutter android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS' (without asterics)
Wait few seconds. Then you can disconnect your phone again from your computer.
Open the app "Pie Control" you installed before on your phone and select 'Side'.
Activate the option 'ENABLE SIDE AREA' on the top using the slider
Click on the 'Level 1' tab and remove all entries there using the recycle bin icon.
Click on the first entry on Button 1, 2 and 3 and add the navigation buttons ('Tools' > 'Home' / 'Back' / 'Recent apps')
You should now be able to slide from both edges of the screen and the PIE controls with the three important buttons ('Home' / 'Back' / 'Recent apps') should come up
(You might want to change the settings on the 'Level 2' tab as well. I set them to 'Volume control', 'Camera', and 'Notification', which brings up the notification bar)
Next we need to get rid of the navigation bar.
Open the app "Shortcutter Quick Settings" you installed before on your phone and activate the very first option 'Security settings'.
Swipe right and activate "Immersive" (you might deactivate all the others if you don't need them).
Swipe down the status/notification bar with two fingers so that the quick setting tiles come up.
Tap on the three dots on the top right and select the first option.
Drag&drop the 'Immersive' tile from the bottom to the top setting tiles.
Tap on Done on the top right.
Now click on the 'Immersive' tile and then select the last option 'NO NAV'.
We're done!
Here some pictures how some apps look like after these steps and how PIE looks like.
Enjoy!
You do know that the soft keys move to prevent burn in right?
Big fan of pie control though can't live without it!
Sent from my SM-G955U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Is there still the bug, that keyboard won't show up when navbar is in immersive mode?
No need to scaremonger about burn in (which won't happen by the way), this thread can stand on it's own two feet as pie controls are pretty cool.
People are already complaining about navbar burn ins on reddit, xda, ... and there are also pictures showing the burn-ins.
So there's a reason to worry about it, sadly.
But as @Jonathan-H wrote, Pie on such a big screen looks awesome.
@Bautinho88 yes, the bug happens only when the notification bar is hidden. When hiding only the navbar this doesn't happen.
I think it is funny how a small change can make peeps freak out. Ever consider the top status bar and the static info up there? No burn-in.... It is dynamically the same as the nav bar... It will be ok peeps. Pie control is sweet though!

Gesture to put the phone to sleep?

The awkward position of the power button makes me miss the sleep gestures in xposed framework when I would just remap google now(don't use anyway) to sleep so I could just swipe up from home to sleep the phone to return to the pocket... Thing is I'm on Verizon and don't have root. So does anybody know of a way that something like this could be done without root? I looked all through settings and googled it but have not found anything.
Thanks

I'm using the app One Hand Operation + from the Samsung store. I have it set up so I can swipe in from the left edge to turn off the screen, even if I'm in an app. Custom launchers like Nova can also let you swipe to turn off the screen. I think there are also ways to map the Bixby button to turn off the screen as well.

Am also using one hand operations and assigned a gesture to screen off
....You can also use this "Softkey Edge"... [emoji6]

You can buy Nova Launcher Prime and use double tap to put the phone to sleep. Otherwise you can simply remap the bixby button to be your power button and then you will have it closer.
Only thing is with Nova the double tap will only work if the phone is unlock, otherwise if you don't unlock it and you are still in the lockscreen you will need to press the power button.
Thanks for all of the feedback, I'm going to download One Hand Operation +. My only question about remapping the bixby button is doesnt that require root access?? I looked all over with google to see if it could be done without root and I couldn't find a way. I played around with the bixby settings to get it to run a command to sleep the phone too but that didn't work for me...

Navigation bar on HD 8 post 7.3.2.3 update?

I have a Navigation bar on Fire HD 8 2020 version after the 7.3.2.3 update but im not crazy about it
I have it set to run Nova launcher when i do LONG press of the home button
its a pain to have to hold the finger down to go back to the Nova launcher scree.
But i am looking for one that has the standard 3 buttons( BACK ,HOME ,RECENT ) at the bottom- covering up the FIRE navbar

I only am finding ones with Long press to run an app.
IS there any with a short press /click to launch an app?
Hello,
I'm sorry if your problem is solved but I have found a solution that has been working for quite some time. There is an app called simple control that is dark blue. It gives you another navbar that does not add anything to the screen. Here is what I do:
1. Open the app and set the home button to the launcher. For me I use nova.
2. Adjust the size and duration of the nav bar. For me, I use the gesture "swipe up" for the new nav bar to show.
This is the only method that seems to work and is FREE. There have been some "glitches" where the screen goes black for a few seconds after pressing the new home button but then refreshes to the launcher. But for the most part, everything works fine. If you are confused, I could upload a video of the whole process.
Have a great day

Hello,
I'm sorry, I have another solution that could work; only if you have a fire toolbox. There is a custom nav bar feature that downloads an app called automate that will create a code that will make the home button on the fire tablet open the launcher normally. Apparently, this function will not go away after a reboot and should remain "permanent". Both methods that I shared with you should not go away.
Thank you.
