You need stock rom (not root) to install patch update.

I know this is old, but I am having the same issue with the OTA update failing at 18%
I have an OP8 Pro and it is on Android 12 stock from with rooted boot.img. My device has down all the Android 11 updates and I use Oxygen Updated and use Magisk to patch the boot.img before rebooting. Has always worked.
But I cannot update from C.21 to the C.33 it fails in the process. Did you all come up with a fix or found a solution?

Again my question is: Do you go to the About Phone screen or do you use the manually installed local update?
Did you try the full package instead of ota?

My apology
I would have to say no...
I am aware if I go to the "About device" and click on the banner above, it takes me to the update. And it shows C.33, but in the past, I never downloaded it that way I manually downloaded with Oxygen Updated.
But I do come back to the System Update "about" app to click the gear icon to manually install so I can keep root before rebooting.
Also I have for the hell of it tried the "About device" and did the download and install, knowing it will reboot and remove the root....But that also fails, and in the process

Thx for the link, my friend....
I will get into this or look at it tonight when I get off work.
I did NOT try the full update I could not download it. I have a global OP8 Pro, and all I can download in Oxygen Updater is only the C.33 incremental. If I change the app option, the only full download I can get is C.16
I think TechiBee posted it when he talked about C.33, but when I looked at these links, only full C.33 was IN/EU version. I am not sure of this, but I think I can use India (IN) or EU firmware to do a manual update. Have you heard or know if that is doable...just asking, not holding you to it ?
Thx

Thats odd. I cant find a full update for IN2025 too.
Maybe you can try this with the OTA too?
Code:

oplus_update_engine_verify_disable=1

I think you can use the EU version but i dont know if you will face problems but i dont think you will. Its doable for sure.

do u have any custom recovery installed?
Hi. this rom , can install whit TWRP or CWM or recovery mode ??
I have successfully installed this rom on my 32GB E7. Working fine, no issues. Just transfer this file to your phone at any location, then go to System Updates and chose to install update by file, then select this file from the menu.
Once installed do a factory reset so that KitKat works optimally.
Someone could clearly explain how it is installed? Can be rooted at the time of installation? Since recovery? I think it costs nothing to lend a hand to which we are not able to do it properly!

try this,
goto settings>All settings>apps>(swipe to the right) All> there search for system update and then open it, there press clear cache, clear data and then try to open system updates again, if its still there then press force stop and then again try opening system updates
if this doesn't fix it then theres another way to flash the OTA via recovery (volume up + power button)

Hello Everybody.
I successfully updated my phone to 4.4.2
But the problem is I am not able to root my phone on this version the way I did on 4.2.2
Somebody please tell me how to root this phone on 4.4.2
I cannot live without root and Xposed.
Camera quality is noticeably bad after update :/
Especially in low light. Please check someone and confirm.
error: installation aborted
I am getting an error "Installation aborted" after "Verifying Package" in recovery mode.
cache/last_log shows some "E:Signature" error.
This may be due to a corrupt download. Will download it and try.
Any suggestions.

Root + OTA

When i root my S7 Edge, how to get OTA updates?
Is there any page to download it?
You can't get ota updates with root, you have to go into the dev section and basically download a rom with the current updates already installed.

1. You can't get OTA updates if you are rooted.
2. You have to flash the correct firmware via ODIN if you are rooted. One page to download the firmwares is this ONE.

never trust an OTA update it will just patch your FW and in time your device will become too slow,I always used this site to download and install the latest full updates using Odin.

If somebody would like to answer this guy, I'd be the happiest.
I'm wondering the same thing. Though I get by with Titanium Backup for now (even though I don't trust it that much anymore, it just swallowed all my backups when I moved the files through the app, I had to reinstall evything by hand, and I lost most of my SMS/MMS).
Actually you can get OTA updates when you are rooted there is option in xTouchWiz Module when you have Xposed installed that changes the device status from Custom to Official and for me it worked and then i can install the update using flashfire. But i dont know if it works you too

OTA is a Over the air package.
Contains just the nessesery code to patch the current firmware.
You cannot flash a OTA, Simple.
What you can do, is what others have advised. Download the full Firmware and flash away.
There is two ways to do this. Flash everything and have the device wipe all data.
Flash the necessary files for odin with a patched csc file (This will avoid any data being wiped)
Second method:
Flashfire.
You can download the whole firmware package from Sammy (Link the guys posted above)
Then use flashfire to flash these packages straight on the device.
You will retain all Data and Settings etc. You can also replace bootloader
and then flash TWRP again after.
(If i have used flashfire since i have had the device. I have updated Dirty (Dirty is when i dont wipe and keep all Data)
I have done this around 5 times, and noticed my device starting to become slow at responding.
Today i installed the latest Firmware with a Full wipe. (Its advisable once in a while)

Its Simple in XTouchWiz go to Security Hacks and then tick the Box "Fake System Status" Now close XTouchWiz and go to Settings and Status, now it should be Official and Thats it. You can download your OTAs but obviously you can't install it, Open Flashfire go to Flash Zip or OTA.... Done.

TWRP (NO ROOT) and Official Firmware with OTA updates possible (S7 EDGE 935FD)
Hey, If I am posting here irrelevant, please guide me to the best Thread where I should post it.
I recently installed Resurrection Remix rom on s7 edge. Them ram was good, however, camera wasn't working with stock rom as well as open camera and candy camera apps. It was just showing blank screen when I open any camera app. I reinstalled the stock rom via Smart Switch.
I require a few solutions:
1. How can I get my camera working with Resurrection Remix? Is there anyone who had the same problem?
2. Can I install TWRP to have custom recovery with official rom? And while having TWRP (without root), would I be able to have OTA?
3. How can I use smart switch backup via any other app or software to get it into my phone (which is installed with custom rom) because custom rom do not catch smart switch.
Thanks!

***Edited: Important update*** Anyone managed to ROOT P10+ (VKY-AL00C00)?

Bootloader is open but TWRP is giving ERROR1 when trying to flash Root, and also is unable to mount any partition...
Any help from someone who managed?
***Important Update!*** I am almost sure the problem is with Huawei shipping the P10/P10Plus with different storage chips.
Myself unfortunately got the eMMC chip + LPDDR4 memory. This is why TWRP is unable to mount any partition since the .fstab is different.
I have a working TWRP I ported myself which I was able to rebrand with, root yet to be confirmed. If you need it PM me.
I strongly advise anyone trying to flash TWRP to check their storage chip first using adb command "ls /proc/fs/*".
If you get mmcblk your F******, SD or UFS you are good.
I have an AL00 (rebranded to L29) that I rooted without too much hassle. The key is NOT sliding the first screen in TWRP. You have to click the read only button and then flash the phh nocrypt root zip.
Thanks!

If you follow this guide exactly, you'll be rooted without issues. (you can use their files, they work fine) Two things to watch for :
1. You absolutely cannot slide the first slider in TWRP to allow modifications. You have to click the read only button.
2. It will only work on a fresh install / fresh boot.img. If you've already allowed modifications within TWRP, you're stuck. You have to flash a new boot.img or completely re-install EMUI via update.zip or funkyhuawei.
Hope this helps
Thanks so much for your Info Goronok.
I got the same problem.. No possibility of a full root and system partition is write protected..
One question:
Is ist possible to do a factory reset out of the settings as well?
Or do we have to go for the funkyhuawei method?
How can i update.zip the system if its not possible to make a dload folder in the root folder on system partition?
Can someone uplad the boot.img for VKY-L09C432B130, if that will save the problem too... ?
Ok that wasnt one, that were 4 questions.. but thanks so much in advance
Kind Regards

1. No factory reset within the device will help you once you've swiped to allow modifications within TWRP.
2. I did funkyhuawei, so it's the only thing I can speak to. This method will absolutely work assuming you dont mind spending a few dollars and have a router where you can specify DNS.
3. update.zip should (in theory) work from sdcard, though I have not personally tried it. I think most of the people mentioning this method are coming from a P9/Mate9, which does things a little differently.
4. I have not seen a link for VKY-B130 yet, but here is one for B124. The boot.img here should work just the same... http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1475/g104/v82453/f2/full/update.zip
can't figure out what is wrong
First time I tried to root I did slide the "allow modifications"...
I reinstalled stock twice with FunkyHuawei but still can't get TWRP to work.
It seems it doesn't have access to any partition.
Phone boots normally though...
Any ideas?
Please.....

Hey Mosquito, i guess we both have the same kinda Problem.
I will do the following steps today and let you guys know, if and how it worked out.
The only problem is, im not at home right now, so i dont have access to a router where i can change the DNS. So no FunkyHuawei method for me.
I will do the following steps today:
1. Donwloading the VKY-L09C432B130 jus now. Trying to flash the original boot.img and do the TWRP and root again, WITHOUT swping the TWRP allow modifications slider
2. If No 1 doesnt work i will copy the download update.app, will create a dload folder on my external sd card and copy update.app in it. Then trzing to freshly install the downloaded firmware.
3. If there is somehow a failure or any error with the automated update i will factory reset the phone via settings and then see whtats going on.
I hope everything will work out fine, even without the possibility of FunkyHuawei Reset.
Keep in mind that there are two types of TWRP online available for the P10Plus Version 3.0.2.2 and version 3.1.0.0.. maybe the root works different with the different TWRPs. At this moment im not quite sure which one i use.. probably the one from gizdev, what Goronok told us to use.
I keep you up to date whats going on!
Thanks guys

I already did everything you wrote, still no go.
Please update me if you get a different result.
Tried both TWRP versions.
What firmware you had at first?
I have bought my phone 10 days ago.
From T-Mobile Germany.
VKY-L09 6GB Version, Single Sim i guess.
Not sure what Firmware i had when i bought it, cause I immediately tried to root after buying, without checking the FW Version.
But I did a FunkyHuawei Restore before with VKY-L09C432B130 Firmware and it worked.
Only the Full Root is the Problem right now.. damnit.
I Will try everything and let you know.
Later!
MosquitoByte said:
First time I tried to root I did slide the "allow modifications"...
I reinstalled stock twice with FunkyHuawei but still can't get TWRP to work.
It seems it doesn't have access to any partition.
Phone boots normally though...
Any ideas?
Please.....

Get your Firmware Number, download the whole Firmware (about 2GB +/-) and download the huaweiextractor from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454
Start the Huaweiextractor exe and unpack the boot.img.
Start your phone into bootloader
Flash boot.img (of your original firmware, the one u unpacked just now) to your phone via fastboot flash boot bot.img
Then start your TWRP Recovery
Clear Cache/Dalvik
then install the SuperRoot_noverity_nocrypt, this time you wont get a error
then wipe cache/Dalvik
reboot
enjoy our FUll root on Your P10plus or P10

Where did you get your firmware from and what firmware you were on?
I have the Firmware L09C432B130 and i downloaded from here:
http://www.stechguide.com/download-huawei-p10-plus-nougat-firmware-update/
Just google your firmware and downloaded.
You need the exact 100% same boot.img from your installed firmware.
Then it will work for sure!

Dennis,
Can you please check for me if TWRP mounts partitions correctly for you?
I suspect the problem for me is incompatibility of the available TWRP with the Chinese version, or some sort of data encryption embedded.

You can Use the TWRP from MI8 and then you only have to edit the updater script in the custom.rom.zip
0. Use "MI8 TWRP" on "MI8 Explorer Edition" and install custom ROM
1. open downloaded custom "rom.zip"
2. go to -> \xiaomi.eu_multi_MI8Explorer_V10.0.4.0.OEHCNFH_v10-8.1.zip\META-INF\com\google\android\
3. edit -> updater-script
4. change -> getprop("ro.product.device") == "ursa" to getprop("ro.product.device") == "dipper"
5. enjoy
I use this recovery to flash new rom but now i can't find rise to wake any rom i flash.

Can't update to IN2025_11.C.11

When I go to about phone in my settings then update, I get a message that says IN2025_11.C.11 is ready to be downloaded and installed. When I click download and install it fills up the bar about 10% then crashes and says it was unable to be installed. Anyone have any advice or the update I can download to take care of it locally?

Did yours update normally? Did you have to local upgrade?
I just did the ota through system update in settings.. I read on here that there was an update so I manually checked and it showed up so installed it and it worked I was on open beta 1 Android 12 not rooted used incremental update. I used oxygen updater to install the beta I was on before. I'm a little confused because I thought I had to factory reset to go back to stable builds. Is this actually a stable build now or is it still a beta?

Idk why mine wont let me update through updates even tho it shows it there
it simply because you're rooted.. it's already known from a long time.
there're 2 way if you wanna update from OTA:
1. simple uninstall magisk, and restore image. then do update. then back install magisk again
2. localupdate again C.10 and because you're now lose root, then you should be able to update fine

what step that you actually do ?
If you like to do an OTA;
Go to Magisk, uninstall Magisk - restore Image
Download and Install the OTA but DONT reboot
Go to Magisk, install magisk to inactive slot after ota
Reboot

Yea I tried that. I had to use msm tool loose all data then start from scratch apply all updates then I was able to do what you said and it worked. I'm on the latest A12 with root but unfortunately I lost all data in the meantime.
Installing magisk in an inactive slot will result in a softbrick.

So lets say I am on the latest Android 11 stable build and I want to flash the C11 stable Android 12 build (full zip, not incremental) and keep root and data. Is there a way to do that?
Previously as others have said, we restore images in Magisk. Install the OTA, then direct install Magisk, then to inactive slot, reboot, and all is well. Does this no longer work? Can someone please give a full explanation of their understanding?

Do you have the IN2021 version? Because NA/global doesn't have a full ROM yet. I can only confirm what the guy above me has experienced - installing magisk (v24.3) into the updated slot will result in a softbrick. Without that step it's working fine (I managed to switch slots in fastboot and redo the update from previous slot again).
It seems like the boot.img from the IN2021 C11 ROM does work with the IN2025 software, since I couldn't extract the incremental OTA and patch the boot.img. That actually saved my phone and I almost used MSM tool.
Maybe it's different if you update from A11 to A12 - I updated from OB1 C10 to C11 and magisk messes something up in the process.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I think I'm going to wait until the dust settles because I need my phone available for work. I can't be stuck in a bootloop for 3 hours trying to fix it.
I tried to extract the BOOT.IMG from the OTA file, trying many tools without success, although in the log of one of the extraction tools it told me that the boot had 100MB, in the output only a boot.img appeared with 0MB
