Bootloader is open but TWRP is giving ERROR1 when trying to flash Root, and also is unable to mount any partition...
Any help from someone who managed?
***Important Update!*** I am almost sure the problem is with Huawei shipping the P10/P10Plus with different storage chips.
Myself unfortunately got the eMMC chip + LPDDR4 memory. This is why TWRP is unable to mount any partition since the .fstab is different.
I have a working TWRP I ported myself which I was able to rebrand with, root yet to be confirmed. If you need it PM me.
I strongly advise anyone trying to flash TWRP to check their storage chip first using adb command "ls /proc/fs/*".
If you get mmcblk your F******, SD or UFS you are good.
I have an AL00 (rebranded to L29) that I rooted without too much hassle. The key is NOT sliding the first screen in TWRP. You have to click the read only button and then flash the phh nocrypt root zip.
Thanks!

If you follow this guide exactly, you'll be rooted without issues. (you can use their files, they work fine) Two things to watch for :
1. You absolutely cannot slide the first slider in TWRP to allow modifications. You have to click the read only button.
2. It will only work on a fresh install / fresh boot.img. If you've already allowed modifications within TWRP, you're stuck. You have to flash a new boot.img or completely re-install EMUI via update.zip or funkyhuawei.
Hope this helps
Thanks so much for your Info Goronok.
I got the same problem.. No possibility of a full root and system partition is write protected..
One question:
Is ist possible to do a factory reset out of the settings as well?
Or do we have to go for the funkyhuawei method?
How can i update.zip the system if its not possible to make a dload folder in the root folder on system partition?
Can someone uplad the boot.img for VKY-L09C432B130, if that will save the problem too... ?
Ok that wasnt one, that were 4 questions.. but thanks so much in advance
Kind Regards

1. No factory reset within the device will help you once you've swiped to allow modifications within TWRP.
2. I did funkyhuawei, so it's the only thing I can speak to. This method will absolutely work assuming you dont mind spending a few dollars and have a router where you can specify DNS.
3. update.zip should (in theory) work from sdcard, though I have not personally tried it. I think most of the people mentioning this method are coming from a P9/Mate9, which does things a little differently.
4. I have not seen a link for VKY-B130 yet, but here is one for B124. The boot.img here should work just the same... http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1475/g104/v82453/f2/full/update.zip
can't figure out what is wrong
First time I tried to root I did slide the "allow modifications"...
I reinstalled stock twice with FunkyHuawei but still can't get TWRP to work.
It seems it doesn't have access to any partition.
Phone boots normally though...
Any ideas?

Hey Mosquito, i guess we both have the same kinda Problem.
I will do the following steps today and let you guys know, if and how it worked out.
The only problem is, im not at home right now, so i dont have access to a router where i can change the DNS. So no FunkyHuawei method for me.
I will do the following steps today:
1. Donwloading the VKY-L09C432B130 jus now. Trying to flash the original boot.img and do the TWRP and root again, WITHOUT swping the TWRP allow modifications slider
2. If No 1 doesnt work i will copy the download update.app, will create a dload folder on my external sd card and copy update.app in it. Then trzing to freshly install the downloaded firmware.
3. If there is somehow a failure or any error with the automated update i will factory reset the phone via settings and then see whtats going on.
I hope everything will work out fine, even without the possibility of FunkyHuawei Reset.
Keep in mind that there are two types of TWRP online available for the P10Plus Version 3.0.2.2 and version 3.1.0.0.. maybe the root works different with the different TWRPs. At this moment im not quite sure which one i use.. probably the one from gizdev, what Goronok told us to use.
I keep you up to date whats going on!
Thanks guys

I already did everything you wrote, still no go.
Please update me if you get a different result.
Tried both TWRP versions.
What firmware you had at first?
I have bought my phone 10 days ago.
From T-Mobile Germany.
VKY-L09 6GB Version, Single Sim i guess.
Not sure what Firmware i had when i bought it, cause I immediately tried to root after buying, without checking the FW Version.
But I did a FunkyHuawei Restore before with VKY-L09C432B130 Firmware and it worked.
Only the Full Root is the Problem right now.. damnit.
I Will try everything and let you know.
Later!

Ok forget my last post.. sorry!
Here is what to do:
Whoever gets the Error 1 Message when installing the SuperRoot_noverity_nocrypt zip, do the follwoing:
Get your Firmware Number, download the whole Firmware (about 2GB +/-) and download the huaweiextractor from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454
Start the Huaweiextractor exe and unpack the boot.img.
Start your phone into bootloader
Flash boot.img (of your original firmware, the one u unpacked just now) to your phone via fastboot flash boot bot.img
Then start your TWRP Recovery
Clear Cache/Dalvik
then install the SuperRoot_noverity_nocrypt, this time you wont get a error
then wipe cache/Dalvik
reboot
enjoy our FUll root on Your P10plus or P10

Where did you get your firmware from and what firmware you were on?
I have the Firmware L09C432B130 and i downloaded from here:

Just google your firmware and downloaded.
You need the exact 100% same boot.img from your installed firmware.
Then it will work for sure!

Dennis,
Can you please check for me if TWRP mounts partitions correctly for you?
I suspect the problem for me is incompatibility of the available TWRP with the Chinese version, or some sort of data encryption embedded.

Alright.
I had this problem for a while and I figured out how to flash the update without the need to factory reset or change the update script of the update file.
Even if you get the user/release-keys error message. EXAMPLE:

You have to be using the latest lollipop release before updating. That means you have to be on YOG7DAS2K1 before attempting.
This worked out for me. But it might not work for you. I do not believe it can destroy your phone and switch some satellites off, but still, not responsible if it did so.
Requirments:
You have to have TWRP now or you at least have ROOT and any flashing app like flashify.
Download COS 13 update file. here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995316311
Download the latest CyanogenMod Recovery https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=bacon
Download the cm-12.1-YOG7DAS2K1 full ROM [url]https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24369303960686198[/URL]
Guide:
Make sure the update cyanogen recovery option is checked in developer options.
Flash CyanogenMod Recovery downloaded before.
Reboot into it.
Use the update function in CyanogenMod Recovery and choose cm-12.1-YOG7DAS2K1 as the update file. It might take a while.
Now reboot to your phone. When booted and running, reboot to recovery.
Now you are running COS recovery. Update with the incremental.
That is it.
I hope this works out for you.
EXTRA: How to ROOT and have TWRP as a recovery:
Requirements:
A laptop.
Download TWRP and adb drivers on the laptop and the SuperSU and TWRP on your phone
Download Oneplus One TWRP Recovery [url]https://dl.twrp.me/bacon/twrp-3.0.2-0-bacon.img.html[/URL]
Get any adb divers. This one suffice [url]http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/adb-fb-apx-driver-universal-naked-t2513339[/URL]
Download the latest SuperSu [url]https://download.chainfire.eu/921/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.65-20151226141550.zip[/URL]
Guide:
Reboot into bootloader: you can do this in many ways. A simple google search will show you how. Easiest way is to turn the phone off and hold the volume up and power long enough for the phone to boot into bootloader.
Connect your phone to your laptop
Run the adb: I assume you are using windows of course. First put the TWRP .img file in this folder. Hold shift and right click in the folder downloaded above. A 'Open command window here' option will be there. Click it and write in the window
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-bacon.img
. A hint: you can just write twrp and hit TAB, it will complete the filename. Or you can rename the downloaded file to just twrp.img
Check your phone, you will be running TWRP temporarily. You now have the option to ROOT only by flashing the SuperSU file downloaded on your phone. If you reboot now you will lose TWRP and get back to the official COS Recovery. If you want TWRP for good flash the TWRP file downloaded on your phone before.
I hope this is easy. It actually is. just follow it step by step.
If you could provide us the guide to root and come back to twrp I would be extremely happy

if you need a guide to root, this means you are not rooted, and if you are not rooted most probably you already have stock recovery, which means you can just install the OTA update without any issues.

As I stated before you have to be on COS 12.1 YOG7DAS2K1. This method should not format your phone or remove any data as there is no factory reset step.
As for the link they are all over the place now. I used the official one. I'll link it for your convenience.
can anyone please pull the stock recovery from COS 13, not 12. I kinda screwed up while updating and now stuck in bootloop.
Update: The issue is resolved. The issue was because of SuperSu 2.46. Installing the latest TWRP and SuperSu 2.66 fixed it. Marshmallow is now rooted!
Thank you very much! After going back to stock and still not receiving the update for more than a week (well at least it felt like a week, Lol) I decided to flash a full COS 13 zip floating around. Instantly liked the new ROM but it had root/symlink issues only to be resolved when flashing a custom kernel it seems. Not what I really wanted so then I stumbled onto your thread and this technique worked 100%! I was on DAS2K1 (flashed thru a custom recovery) already and had several failed attempts flashing just the incremental outright (thru stock recovery)., but by flashing DAS2K1 thru stock recovery first as you suggest then the incremental seems to do the trick.
I did it all the steps, but my phone doesn't not start. After optimizing aplications I have bootloop at "cyanogen modready".
L.E. I think the problem was one of old aplications. After a clean install everything works.
This is the best thing Oneplus one i ever experience.COS13 give my Oneplus one a new breathe of life .This update better than crap lolipop. No Bug for me until now, only google play service need to update twice in play store, its auto reboot itself twice and wholla, super speed UX.The best thing i ever have.I apply update from CM-12-0-YNG1TAS17L Build LRX22G using this method and it works flawlessly
I don't need to factory reset or wipe cache .
I flash full stock ROM cm-12.1-YOG7DAS2K1 and apply update through CyanogenMod Recovery only and nothing else.
Now my oneplus one is rooted and TWRP install using ADB and its fly.All rooted apps is working together with Adaway.
Thanks Cyanogen team for make this 2 years old flagship killer a beast .
Only thing not satisfied is gone signal and wifi status (connectivity indicator ).I need to swipe down to see my transfer data working (what a bummer ).
Thanks so much for this magical guide (y2kkingboy) Yours truly Oneplus one diehard fan.
I was already on cm-12.1-YOG7DAS2K1, however rooted. So even if I had been offered the OTA it would have failed.
Your guide got me updated, first time with no problems.
6.0.1 is such an improvement on 5.1.1, I tried a couple of other 6.0 roms, however this has by far been the most stable and bug free.
Cheers for the tutorial!

I had tried this before and it did not work for me. Kept getting an error saying "the signature file was not a complete file" and therefore it didn't flash. But it may have been editing error on my part. This method works just fine and no need to give up your data either.
Having tried many other ways, I got it done with this instruction.

I wanted to root the phone, unlocked the bootloader but flashed incorrect TWRP version and it didn't see SuperSU zip file in the memory. Then I decided to give it up, lock the bootloader back and bring the phone to its initial genuine state. However, the "3-button flash method" didn't work. I downloaded FullOTA zip of B225C636 firmware, unzipped it and moved "UPDATE.APP" file to dload folder in the phone. After using the "3-button method" the phone said "Installation package doesn't exist". Then I made a factory reset from phone settings... and got a non-booting device. It goes to eRecovery which asks me if I want to get an update via Wi-Fi but finds nothing. I entered fastboot mode and flashed boot.img, recovery.img and system.img via ADB Run but nothing changed. So now I can only enter fastvoot or eRecovery. How can I restore the phone? Please help, I understand it's all my fault but I am a newbie with Huawei devices as I was using Samsung where it was much easier before.

Thanks, I tried to flash stock recovery back via ADB Run but it didn't work. The phone was still rebooting into eRecovery partition asking to update via Wi-Fi.
I solved the problem in other way, by setting appropriate DNS in the DHCP section on my Wi-Fi router and then pulling clean B225C636 FullOTA to update server with PC version of Huawei Firmware Finder. Then booted into eRecovery and the process started. After flashing I got my stock recovery back and performed wipe data/factory reset. Now the phone works normally with a locked bootloader as I wanted.

Hi there,
1) Firstly, you need to install the desktop version of Firmware Finder (download here).
2) Then go to the admin panel of your router, enter DHCP section and put 81.177.139.39 as primary and secondary DNS. Write down your original DNS (if any) to restore it later. Make sure that DHCP is enabled.
3) Run Firmware Finder. Open "Common base" tab, enter your model into search window and copy the link for the desired firmware from "Changelog" (see below). You should select the FullOTA version.
{

}
4) Click the round button with a cloud on top of Firmware Finder to open ProxyServer window. Paste the URL you've copied from changelog to this window, click "Set" and then "Register for update" (see below).
5) Reboot your phone to stock eRecovery and connect to your Wi-Fi network. The download and installation should start now.
If the phone is stuck on boot logo after completion, boot into standard Recovery (VolUp + Power) and tap "Wipe data/factory reset". Now the phone should boot up.
Don't forget to restore the DNS in your router's settings.
Hope that helps!

Hmm... Looks strange. This is my first Huawei and I didn't face up with the issue you've described so I can't even figure out the reason... I'd like to know what's the problem with your phone too. Which version and region did you choose in FF? Huawei deletes some of them after a while. Also, maybe there are some ports/services blocked by your inet provider or router?

Then all of a sudden i lost TWRP, FRP and PHONE is now locked.
Cant boot into system, can only access erecovery and stock recovery dosnt exist anymore.

Oh, you may have corrupted some system data. MHA-L29 is the usual Mate 9, not Pro, and FF seems not to recognize the device you need to restore properly. Maybe you should consider giving the phone to service...

if i could just get twrp on the phone again i could restore the oeminfo i backed up from the original phone. But fastboot wont let me unlock the phone with the original code.

As far as I know, the bootloader unlock code is unique and is stored in "nvme" file located in /dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/. Maybe that file was corrupted too or OEM unlock in developer options has gone off.
P.S. The dload (3 buttons) method doesn't work on Android 7 and above. It doesn't matter if you use internal memory or OTG, it will fail eventually. That was one of my mistakes that led to bricking the phone. Never try that again.

ok i managed to get some progress.
I ended up using firmware finder to flash a mha firmware onto my lon phone because i had installed a mha oeminfo.
Im hoping once this works i can somehow flash twrp and restore the original oem i have.
I just hope it will let me unlock the BL. Will report back in a hour or two.

First off, a HUGE thank you to @autoprime (for paving the way) and @waylo (for his assistance on getting this going after I found the KDZ)
I am currently storing these in my google drive account, so please be gentle till I have a better host location:
Below are the downloads for the LG-H83020N firmware
Folder with all the LG830 firmware I have so far:
LG830 (G5)
LG-H83020N-Flashable.COMPLETE-ARB01.zip
As always, COMPLETE is 100% stock
Flash COMPLETE zip -> wipe cache partition -> flash Magisk ZIP (or SuperSU if you insist) to root and keep TWRP
OPTIONAL: After flashing, remount /system RW -> delete recovery-from-boot.p to guarantee TWRP sticks
LG-H83020N-Flashable.Bootloader-ARB01
LG-H83020N-Flashable.Modem-ARB01.zip
LG-H83020N-Flashable.Boot.zip
H830N_00_1017.kdz (HUGE Thank you to @Azul Baseem for the upload)
For instructions, follow the same instructions as you would in any other KDZ/ZIP thread. For Example
Feel free to hit thanks.
Also feel free to hit up autoprime's All in One thread HERE
Thank you very much bedwa!
Kdz link updated!
Thank you @bedwa as always.
I fear my only true contribution here is MD5 confirmation of the files:
LG-H83020N-Flashable.COMPLETE-ARB01.zip 8a49733028bef23d775bf542eb62b726
LG-H83020N-Flashable.Boot.zip ddea9d814f66266de34a154f0c7f6b41
H830N_00_1017.kdz 732b717af8d77501342be445002c4fae
Edit: Also, since someone will definitely miss it in the title, this is confirmed to still be on Anti-Rollback 1. You're free to flash back and forth between 20A if you need to Dirtycow your phone again.
Keeping me honest, I swear I'll remember them next time.
Thanks for the upload. I was able to update just fine thanks to this.
BTW... It still has H83020m mentioned in the body of the OP instead of H83020n.

running 20N , so far so good, just notice a small problem with GPS , it is a bit spotty today. @bedwa : Can you make a slim down version ? like removing LG/TMO/Google stuffs ? and reduce /system partition size ?

That would be trickier. All of these are the partition images. To make a slim zip like that I'll have to either unpack and build or unpack and attempt to repack. I might, but not likely at this time.
Thank you so much for making this. So happy to be rooted and on the latest build thanks to your hard work. =)

I am running on rooted H83020a with TWRP and SuperSU installed. In order to upgrade to 20N by keeping all my current settings and data along with root and TWRP, what are the steps should I follow?
1. Take a complete backup using LG Backup
2. Boot into TWRP
3. Flash Complete Zip (H83020N) from TWRP
4. Flash SuperSU Zip
5. Reboot System
6. Restore the complete backup from LG Backup
Does this work okay? Or, do I need to do anything else, like Wipe Data/Partition etc.? Sorry for the noob question.
Hello,
If I flash boot and bootloader, will it lock my bootloader and brick the phone if I am on LineageOS?

Backup is always good, shouldn't have to restore it as it's updating from a previous version and doesn't wipe data when upgrading. But that's the correct process with or without #6.

Shouldn't, but it would always be a good idea to backup beforehand. I would however only flash the bootloader, as the boot is the kernel and will be different than what LineageOS uses though.
I just boot into TWRP and flashed the complete zip and then flashed the latest SuperSU Zip. I pressed Reboot System after that, but, I am now stuck in a boot loop. Phone shows LG logo and reboots again and again.
I tried the Power button + Vol Down method, but, it doesn't work too. It gets to Factory reset screen, and after Yes and Yes, it goes to back to boot loop again. I am able to get into Download Mode and Fastboot Mode. Can I do something from here?
Can someone help please? Anyway to get into TWRP or recovery?
Sounds like you will need to LGUP or Uppercut your phone back to stock 20A. Then dirtycow back TWRP. Then try flashing the new ZIP again. Skip Supersu this time and try Magisk instead.
Thanks. I flashed back to 20A using LGUP and KDZ file. Need to dirtycow back TWRP now. I'm still wondering what went wrong in my process.

Do I need to reboot to TWRP once after flashing instead of Reboot System directly after flash? Any idea?
No, rebooting into TWRP wouldn't do anything. There's a script you might need to get into and delete prior to rebooting. But that only ensures that TWRP stays.
"After flashing, remount /system RW -> delete recovery-from-boot.p to guarantee TWRP sticks"
That having been said, I've done this before and STILL not had TWRP stay. Some recommend wiping /cache as well.
OR, again, use Magisk instead and don't use SuperSU.
Even if TWRP didn't stick, you should have been booting into system fine. You wouldn't be rooted, TWRP would be gone, but system shouldn't have been messed up. So something got borked, I'd have to guess, because of SuperSU.

Hi Guys, it's been a while since I've been trying to fix this HW Mate 8, but without success.
At the moment TWRP tells me it is without software, could you kindly help me?
I would like to install the nxt-l29c432b version ... I tried to get it from AL10 to L29 and this is the result ...
I tried a bit 'of xda-forum and the guides I found were not helpful, because many links with the firmware have expired and Hw Firmware finder are not exactly those of the guide.
I await your feedback,

This should be easy, if you are not planning on changing region.
Basically you need to find the twrp version for the EMUI version that you are going to run eventually.
And then just flash the files from FF according to the guides.

If you are trying to flash a rom different than the region that your phone is configured for it will fail.
I believe, at least I know it was so before because I done on marshmallow, that you need to change the region configuration before flashing the different region rom.

Hi guys, do you have a TWRP backup of L29c432 that you can restore?
I am having the same issue. Tried to debrand L29 to AL10. Somewhere in between bricked the phone and now I get no os installed in twrp. Tried flashing the update.app , fails at 5%. Twrp says can't mount system, cust, data. Tried flashing the update.zip from twrp. That also failed. System partition is showing as only 2 mb.
EDITkay, I can mount system now, but not data and cust. I tried converting their file system to fat and back to exfat4 but that's also not possible.
Any solutions?
can you boot to fastboot mode? if you can use this command to know exactly what you have. then debrand to the original firmware. flash the original recovery then force restore via erecovery (vol+ vol- power) use same firmware update.app
AL10 can update up to oreo.
fastboot oem get-product-model
fastboot getvar vendorcountry
fastboot oem get-build-number
Finally found a twrp by which I was able to format data . But now it says can't mount system although it can read it. I tried the commans you posted and it says that I have the AL10C00B320 version. But in twrp it says no os installed and everytime I reboot it boots to Huawei erecovery.
This is the twrp which worked for me, incase anyone needs it.
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767140812
can't find a AL10C00B320 firmware finder . i found this NXT-L29C432B320
extract :
system.img
boot.img
cust.img
recovery.img
and try to flash this twice via fastboot
reboot to erecovery the factory reset. then force restore using the update.app for NXT-L29C432B320. the factory reset then reboot.
I do have a AL10B320 rom . Flashed it with twrp, says cant mount system . Falshed it via dload. Fails at 5% and says incompatible system. Flashed the img files via fastboot. Everything geta flashed but the phone gets stuck at bootloop. Also flashed the hw update file for AL10B320, same thing.

This is the result of the fastboot commands. I think I have the product model in my phone as next instead of Huawei NXT-AL10 or NXT-L29. If somehow I edit the model version in update.app or the update.zip to be NEXT , then maybe it can install with dload. Anyway to edit the files?
I tried flashing oeminfo.zip fo the l29 version in twrp but it fails. How do I flash oeminfo through fastboot?
did you factory reset after flashing?
extract everthing in the update.app and flash it one by one. verlist.img in the update.app is the one holds the version you can open it via note pad or notepad++ to see whats version. if u succeed in flashing the verlist.img the erecovery might work.
You mean to say flash everything like modem, and all the 20 something img files?
I think maybe there's something wrong with the system partition. I tried flashing kangvip b368 but it says can't mount system partition. I am trying everything to boot to a OS. Also is it possible I change the model of my phone from twrp by replacing files via twrp file manager.

why don't you try dload method..i'm just revived my Mate 8 today after 3 and half days try to find solution after debranding from L29 to AL10..haha..is it on EMUI 4.0 or EMUI 4.1? this is the instructions to solve the problem:-
1. you need to flash stock recovery. Just use SRK Tool by @somboons. Please choose the stock recovery based on your EMUI
2. Try to flash AL10C00B386 https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69331930&postcount=1338 (download firmware the last link on the thread) by using dload method.
3. If success, use SRK Tools to change oeminfo and custom.bin (need to be unlocked bootloader and root)
4. You can follow the rest of instruction from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/guide-how-to-install-nougat-al10c00b523-t3500327
I hope this will help you bro..
Okay, I managed to fix it. AL10C00B320 was not working, so I thought why not flash an older version. So I dloaded the AL10C00B192 firmware . It reached till 48% then failed. So I thought there's some hope. Flashed the firmware via twrp. Had the same errors but result was successful. Rebooted and the phone is working fine now. It's updating to nougat now . Everything is working fine now except hat sim1 is not working. There was a fix to this.
After I flashed L29C185 CUST sim1 started working but the model changed to NEXT and stopped updating. So after flashing cust should I again change oem and rebrand?

Hi guys, forgive my incapacity.
After all this time my Mate8 is still unusable.
I tried to follow the steps I found here, but trying to load via dload the AL10C00B386 arrived at 35% then it stopped.

Hi Friend, You can get your firmware in Firmware Finder app available on Google Play store.
Dload you did with files on SD card and not internal storage, I hope. If not, put it in SD card and try.
Sorry, I read your previous messages now. Let me know your Original build i.e., AL, DL, or L29. Which last working rom you were on and what you did after that.

Hello on the packaging there is written NXT-AL10.
Bought from China, the supplier has put a European ROM (I do not remember which one it was). At the moment the NRD90M test-keys is installed on the phone, emui 5 android 7.

So basically it is not able to install EU rom on a device with CN rom ?
im wondering why the file ends in .ozip vs .zip maybe thats why?
EDIT: I didn't realize that is a oppo specific update extension,so im not sure why it wouldnt work
maybe unlocking bootloader then flashing via recovery will work?

I would have thought this was expected? The same was the case with the X2. Unless you can fool the recovery somehow in to thinking you're on a global version I would imagine it's unlikely this method would work.
I assume flashing through TWRP with an unlocked bootloader would work but that's not going to work with this proprietary ozip.
I don't think anyone has tried a full twrp system backup and restore from a global phone to a china one though. I'm interested in how that would play out.
Ozip to zip is easy. Done.
BUT, both fastboot flashing and twrp flashing giving errors, because new (EU) system.img and vendor.img is larger than CN versions.
I can go further, try to flash EU recovery and flashing ozip rom. BUT I'm afraid if device is bricked, I don't want to wait for months hoping for a unbrick rom

Hi
I'm in the same situation as you are. Should get my X2 pro these days and am collection information about safe ways to root, because I need my phone as working phone and unfortunately can't take the risk ofbricking the phone or have an unstable installation. As far as I know for shure:
Unlocking bootloader
You need the tool "In-Dept test Tool" on your phone. Read this . You will find a download link there.
Installing TWRP
There is a pre-release version from honorable @mauronofrio. I don't know how big the risk ist to install this. I haven't read anything about people who have experience with this. For instructions read this .
Rooting
Now we are on the tricky point. I have not read anything about succesful rooting. Neither with Magisk nor with SuperSU.
If anyone has additional info or newer info please let me/us know.

Extracted EU rom to system.img + vendor.img + other partitions. BUT the system.img is 5.1GB, CN version is 4.4GB, same for vendor.img, is bigger. Now both fastboot flashing and twrp flashing are giving errors, that there is no space for flashing.
I need help, is there any way to resize those partitions ? (twrp resize does not work).
