Hello folks,
I just tried to benchmark my x10 with linpack and got only 6.8 or 6.9 mflops. is this normal, is there anything i can do to make it get a higher score?
I'm using the latest .435 firmware and rooted and have all the junk pps from the 'x10 junk apps' thread removed from my phone.
Thanks for any help.
How does the phone perform? Are you satisfied with it or does it lag considerably? A benchmark really means nothing other than bragging rights. If it feels fast and feels good then why worry about mflops?

whether you updated via flashtool or through seus or pc companion, to optimize your phone is very simple especially if not wanting to root or install custom roms. download latest flash tool, once installed and up and running. make sure your phone is set on debug mode. connect to usb and plug into comp. though you may not want the apps that are in the custom folder. hit the customize button, you can remove them later. you will now notice that the optimize button is now highlighted in black. click on that button and let it install the files. This installs JiTv2 Files. this will bring mflops up and quad scores up. it however will not give very high scores. quad will be around 800-850 tops. mflops will be increased to about 20-30 maybe 35. notice on quad when running the rotating planets test. you might hit 33fps!!! instead of the supposed 30 that its only suppose to get. if you run neocore test you might only peg and 25-28. Good Luck!!

try running the test again after the unit has settled down (no activity for a while). you might get different results.

Hi SErooted,
thank you for your helpfull respond. i pressed the customize and then the optimize button like you said and the phone rebooted and the result was better. linpack now get about 32 and some change, quadrant about 757, and neocore about 21fps, shouldn't neocore get better frame rate than this?
can i get it even faster than this?
i have heard about clearing the dalvik chache when installing JIT for the first time. well i didn't clear any cache when i press that customize or optimizer button. did it do it automatically or do i still have to do it manually?
what i wanted was to have the interface and games run fluid and smooth. like no studder at all.
does the processor throttle down when the system is at idle?
should i overclock?
also, i have notice the video recording in hd mode have less studdering now. though its still there, but less. do you think it probably have anything to do with the memory card performance. i'm still using the stock 8gb that originally came with the phone.
My score for mflops is always around 39 and my highest is 40+

hello Michael7168,
thank you for your respond to my message. can you please elaporate more on your statement. is this an x10 you using? i would like to get this result too.
furthermore, i prefer not to use custom firmware at the moment as i use this phone frequently day-to-day and i need to have full functionality of it and reliably. custom firmware are still buggy and lacks some functionality of the phone that i still find usefull for my daily task. but if there is a better custom firmware that really does utilize all of the phone functionality, then please point me in that direction.

Hello xxcysxx,
yes neocore normally runs higher scores. round about 27-28 avg. i personally havent ran a stock firmware since right around mid december. i have alternated with a few and have finally settled on z.s 2.2b4. and have checked all roms available to find which is best. and custom firmware is sometimes shere you get the desired result. i have done some testing on my x10 with various settings and roms and will be happy to share with you what i have going on. my phone is very responsive. quad scores as of ten minutes ago was 2011 without having overclock widget installed. if yo install overclock widget and max out on screen and off screen min and max to 998mhz, you can achieve slightly higher quad scores. but really not needed if you follow settings below. i have a free app from market sysctl. it works!! not sure if you have read the thread on it yet but if not i will have to post there as i have found perfect settings for performance but at cost of battery drain. install if you have root, if not, the call to root is yours.
if interested.... download sysctl from market.

like i said performance not battery. i know for battery saving settings set these numbers close to what the default are. the lower the better battery, the higher, performance.
if you are really worried about daily performance and custom roms.... when/if you decide. i recommend eminence for 2.1 theme of your choice but i really dig bitsnackers theme its awsome and who wouldnt think a tron looking buzzlightyear isnt cool? its awsome. has a cool bootlogo too. all phone funstionality is there video, camera, flash. EVERYTHING!!
BELOW>>> Optimized, xrecovery, root<<<< ENABLED
if you are interested in a 2.2 rom which really does boost speed on phone and what not. i recommend z's 2.2beta4 as video is not working as of yet you might hold off. if you dont use video you should be ok with camera for now and that works. install gappsfreex10, z's data2sd, and theme of your choice. i like xfx10 cant remember name of creator (sorry) but this theme is great! all of theme are great to be honest this is just the one i use.
2.3 roms are out and they are snappy alone without having any adjustments, however there are things that dont work, camera is really the only thing i can think of right now. but by this time it might be fixed, cant say havent checked status but will when done replying.
you can install and run sysctl on these roms as well and gives great boost.
update: not sure if this is a result of sysctl or problems due to network overrun... mflops as of now are 3.2 i normally run 38+. Mmmmm, I wonder?
update 2: double checked after a little while and low mflops was due to network overload not settings. also once upon reboot from my settings i have a quad score of 2233. screen shot below. mflops picked back up but yet are not as high as usual 34.xx
as well to answer on dalvik cache... yes clear cache and also install cache cleaner from market. i have mine set to clear every twelve hours. when installing custom rom not always a case but recommend to wipe user data as well. a few minutes to reset your phone and make sure everything smooth is worth doing this. as well, clear battery stats.
either way, let me know what you guys think and if these settings help.

if it is a modified sony ericsson 2.1 stock firmware with a different theme, then i'm not interested.
however, if it is a fully ported open source 2.1 android firmware, (not tamper with by sony ericsson) then this is good news. i really hope it is this!

i have a question about xrecovery.
are you familiar with bare metal restore, acronis true image, or norton ghost.
i use these software to customize my laptop for different occations. whether i use my laptop to play games with my buddies at break hours durring schools, or do homework assignments in the library, or other general work. all i have to do is lay the image at boot and i have a completely different pc. it can be any os using any software customize in anyway, and took about five to ten minutes to lay down the image.
now back to the xrecovery question. can i do a "full backup" or a complete snap shot of the flash of my current android os and then restore it back at a later time in the same state and condition it was in just before i left it?
this is just incase i might have a remorse when i try the custom firmware.
i put a lot of time in making all the settings and adjustments just to the way i like it and i prefer not to have to do it all over again.
I have another question about the JIT software.
how many jit versions are out there?
i'm using the x10 flash tool version 0.2.6 to install the jit software on my phone. do you know what version of jit was distributed with this flash tool version?
thanks again, your time and help is very much appreciated.

i always keep several older phones for camera use, or other things so this is always a good idea.

i agree in holding off, really overclock widget should be utilizes when operating stock 1.6. anything after that 2.1 2.2 2.3 their optimized with jit or are optimized enough without it

to my knowledge is has not been tampered with by sony, cant recall if the dev had placed any se apks in theme. but it is a great rom. so is blue sparks. if going 2.1 anyway. these are roms and not just themes overlay. so should be as open source as the dev made it.

yes you can. when in xrecovery, go to back up and restore. and backup. this will save all settings, phone book, contacts text message, everything! if not happy with custom software you have installed. just go back to xrecovery>backup and restore> restore. back to 2.1 software before the custom rom
I have another question about the JIT software.
how many jit versions are out there?
i'm using the x10 flash tool version 0.2.6 to install the jit software on my phone. do you know what version of jit was distributed with this flash tool version?
the JiT version that is with the new flashtool is JiTv2 i believe.. dont quote me on that. i believe it is as i have looked at the files in the optimizer and compared them to the copy of JiTv2 i have saved on my comp. to my knowledge, there is only two versions. again, dont quote me on it. i havent seen an chatter going on about newer versions so this might be all we get. not sure though

Sorry took so long to kget back to you. hope you catch this.
Sysctl settings really dont make large change in how fast all functions of the phone operate. most increase in performance for settings is shutdown and power on time. as well as a little better scrolling of menus.
basically running the 2.2 software from z or trip, adding the data2sd.zip will get you well into having quad scores of 2+++. if aiming for higher closer to around 3000. which i am very near doing. ill show when i have the proof not till then
anyway, getting mid 2+++ scores and higher, do require using something like set cpu or Overclock widget, in order to get your phone to run at top speed while doing the test..
after that run a test then another and so on until you have achieved what is perfect W/O for you.

i did tried the setting parameters you suggested earlier before your latest post and i found the improvement is not that noticable, but the battery did die very quick. i found the original configuration work just fine at this point.
i'm still doing some reading on the custom firmware to make sure i make the proper approach without any hickups. i still have a lot of school work to finish and a part time job so the custom firmware is moving along quite slowly.
My N910H lags in games after I updated it to stock 5.0.1.
I play Modern Combat 5 it was smooth in Kitkat now it's really laggy.
I got 50k in Antutu with Kitkat, now it's 38-42k.
Can someone help me? I'm a heavy gamer and I want the best performance in games. Or should I downgrade to Kitkat?
Thanks for your help!
Things I already tried:
- Factory reset (2x)
- Power saving mode is OFF.
- Turning off bluetooth, sync, location, and nfc.
- Reinstall Antutu.
- Reinstall MC5
My device is unrooted and Knox warranty status is 0x0.
Benchmarks don't really mean anything for Christ sake....if your games don't play smoothly then just downgrade to kitkat and wait for Samsung to hopefully updated our devices with a newer and better working version of Lollipop.
I had the g3 and boy did they screw the pooch on that one! The device got so slow and battery life was considerably worse! This was the 32/3gb version... Hopefully samsung won't mess this up big time.
All other scores looks fine.. Except for 3d graphics.
Man i have the same problem here it seems that the phone is always in power saving mode and the gpu is limited to 350 mhz instead of 700 mhz. Also the cpu runs at 1.3 ghz instead of 1.9 for the big cores thats why it has low score in antutu hope somebody figures out a solution and also this is a bug in this update

Does your device perform slow? No?Why the **** do you care about useless benchmarks....your device got a lower score than the S5 so what?Numbers don't equal performance...try doing a ful wipe if you already didn't...
There are already threads about this and you don''t care to search the forum before posting the same thread?

Nah..I'm not pissed lol...sorry if I sounded like that it's just that those benchmarks are useless.Judge the device by the way you see how it performs in everyday use not by a number you got from a benchmark app...and also as I mentioned there are already threads about this so use the search function

I don't have any problem with the 5.0.1 in Note 4. I'm coming from Galaxy S5 and there is no way the Note 4 is performing worse than the S5. Its way faster.
I agree that benchmark points is useless and says little about the performance of the device.

meh
You guys are just being paranoid, I even noticed that it got faster after the lollipop update, I would never care for benchmark numbers as long as I am satisfied with the performance in real world, benchmarks can be influenced by many factors and I barely trust them (and ofc I am talking about Android benchmarks)
Edit: I just tried running a benchmark in Antutu and got 37940, ran it again and guess what? I got 44304, how can I trust this? LOL (I knew it would be way different from a benchmark to another, as it used to happen with me on my old HTC One X, since then I never trust these benchmarks). Just enjoy your phone and stop looking for non-existent problems.

I tried all above, but still get 37K score. most degradation is in 3D graphics. Also in UX and single thread CPU.

Of course not, we expected the score to be at least the same !
Except the score you can notice that fps has dropped in games.
It also has some problems definitely, I have hangouts crashing several times a day.
UX runtime is much lower in my case also.
Benchmark scores are 100% useless.

no they are not useless and I can see that on practice, performance has slowed down just like benchmark scores got lower.
Benchmark can precisely tell and measure the performance, that's it's purpose. In my case I can feel the difference not only in benchmark scores bat in practice also.
Same for me. Tried fresh wipe, re-odin, etc
Benchmarks are 100% useful and in the fact the performance has gotten worse on the beastly note 4 it feels same as note 3 is that even called update anymore. The frames per second for big games is just arownd 20 fps its very disapointinf

Hello Community,
my german Z4 Tablet (SGP712) was on 28.0.A.6.2 and got really hot sometimes, especially when I was downloading some gigabyte from PlayStore. Extended Stamina-mode brought no cooler CPU.
I unlocked my bootloader for helping a dev to root our device.
After installing 28.0.A.7.24 the CPU is much cooler, no more hot. So I went back to 28.0.A.6.2 and it was "hot" again.
Back on 28.0.A.7.24, everything is fine.
Please note that 28.0.A.7.24 is not available in all countries, yet.
Do you think they have introduced some throttling?
I read very much about it and there is no 2nd revision of SD810. All changes are made by software.
Maybe it was a bug of the Sony Firmware? Why the hell should a device become hot of downloading from PlayStore... it was really hot. I downloaded all my apps at once. It takes more than 15 minutes. I suppose that all cores where working at the same time.
But on the other hand, Sony confirmed overheating issues of SD810 and promised a new firmware without overheating in a short time. New firmware is 28.0.A.7.24 and it has no overheating issues. As far as I know they let less cores working at the same time - do we need really 8 cores working at the same time for such things? Never...
But please keep in mind - UNLOCKING your BL deactivates some features like Screen Mirroring and some more...

What is your antutu score after the update?

Hello,
how did u unlock the bootloader
and
how did u root the device?
cheers
My antutu score is 57173 - 32 Bit version - no root available, yet... but soon.
I got my Z4 tablet from O2 on Thursday. It came with 28.0.A.7.27 installed. Used for 3 days so far with no heat issues.

Don't really understand antutu but I downloaded the app and ran it and it gave an overall score of 54963 on 64bit version

I have an German LTE version with 28.0.A.6.8 and no heat problem..
had installed 28.0.A.7.24 and when I run Antutu, midway the backside is heating too much.
is that everyone experiencing? I had installed CPU-Z and in idle condition it shows ~40 degrees average across - but during Antutu run midway it peaks to 80s and 90s and that when I see more hot on reverse.
are there any other aspects we need to check for heat issues?

is there a list what will be deactivated by unlocking?
Thanks.
Guys, What is your usual screen-on-time when using this tablet? Can you achieve 7 hours?

Would it really have been so hard to browse the other five non-sticky threads in this forum to see the thread entitled "Z4 Tablet battery life demolishes the competition!" before posting your question in multiple, completely non-related threads?
Here, I'll make it easy for you:

No, I won't post the answer here. Click the link where you will find the answer in the second sentence of the very FIRST POST.
So I upgraded my X compact to official Nougat 7.0 a couple of days back and on first impressions I noticed some lag here and there mostly when scrolling
And I knew that Snapdragon 650 is almost clos to SD810 so what could be the problem because it was awesomely fluid and smooth on MM 6.0.1, so I started to dig up and here's what I noticed:
In CPUz app on MM it shows Qualcomm SD 650 @ 1.8 GHz but today I looked it up and in Nougat it shows Qualcomm SD 650 @ 1.4 GHz!!! And if you look at cpu cores, those 2 last core Cpu4 and cpu5 are stopped (i guess those two are [email protected] cores right?)
So conclusion is that A72 cores which are the main core to maintain smoothness are offline for some reason so Im asking developers to dig this up and help us out
Thank you
If there is no activity they should be stopped. My old Xperia M2 usually had only 1 core out of 4 active at the minimum clock. Then sure, if something was running in the background all 4 kicked at the hight clock.
I can't check right now with Nougat (my phone is currently updating to it. But it seems to take an awful lot of time. I think it has been updating for 20 minutes or more. Hopefully it's just updating all Dalvik caches or what they are now), but in Marshmallow all 6 cores were always active even with the CPU nearly idle. In my case I think that helped to cause the somehow high battery drain I had (that and plus wakelocks spamming all time).
But sure, if that means the phone will start lagging, screw it. I could deal with a day of battery life, I sure can't deal (again. And then again and again!) with a keyboard showing up after 1 or more seconds also missing the keys while swiping.
PS: it finally installed. You're right. Something definitively looks wrong with it. The cores 4 & 5 are disabled even with Google Play doing some apps updates. Unless it's because CPU Z isn't supporting Nougat yet. I'll have to investigate more via adb.
PPS: It might be the typical placebo effect but it actually feels even smoother now! So I am not sure what's going on.
Nah definitly not smoother!
I Check with qualcomm app and those 2 core are off all the time and it is lagging very bad in many places
If you wanna see the lag you can go scroll fast in call log or install an app like telegram messenger and scrol in chats
And also I played spiderman unlimited game on it and its lagging there no
There was No lag at all on android 6
Guys please report this issue
I used CPU-Z and CPU N°4 and 5 seems to be stop.
After few hours I am not sur that there are more lag than before.
I made a test with Antutu, I had arround 75000 before the update, and arround 80000 after the update.
I think I will make a fresh installation tomorrow.
I don't have those problems....
edit: I HAVE THIS PROBLEM.....
Guys are you serious?!
You actually dont see the lags here and there? Ieven see it lags when there are some notifications and i wanna scroll em fast
Come on guys!
Can someone on 7.0 with the Issue use CPU-Z (from google play) and click on "online validation" and share thr link to the CPU information page here, please?

Maybe I am but smoothness in compact size was the one and only reason I went for this little guy
And whats the point of havin SD650 if there isnt any A72 cores to operate
And I really prefer a 100% fluid rom than a couple of hours more juice...

I agree with you, and hope in a future update to solve this bug(because it is obviously a bug), but for now I can live with this.... maybe I'm lucky, but I don't have big lags, just a little bit here and there..... hope in future 7.1.1 to solve that....
another thing I notice is a louder speaker sound.....

I confirm it doesn't lag for me. I checked scrolling through a long chat in Whatsapp and through the list of all my apps in Google Play (the latter has always been slow. Now it loads immediately, that's why I felt it was snappier). Then I tested with Antutu and I have got 74K (not sure why @dcro95 has got 80K, though).
Then if you look in Antutu/Info/CPU/More you see that for core 5&6 it says they are disabled. But at the same time it shows the percentage of their are activity (which, being the cores disabled, should be none). I didn't have time to check with adb, yet. But what I suspected and it seems to be confirmed by Antutu is that there might be a "bug" where the values for the cores active have the "read" flag cleared, like it happened with the minfree values in Lollipop with some Xperia (M2 for sure. It was "-w--w-----" instead of "rw-rw----".
Anyway, in case of your very noticeable lag I'd suggest to first check your stamina settings. If I enable the Stamina the phone lags immediately. Either with Nougat or Marshmallow.
Oh, and it mat not matter f you didn't enable the Stamina before upgrading. After the upgrade plenty of my configuration parameters simply went bananas. It changed my WiFi settings, removing the static address. And in the case of an app (but I imagine more of them at this point), it modified the login. I'm sure the login was correct because I had a widget for that app active (and working fine).
PS: my battery life still sucks, though. Actually it is even worse than before. I may have to backup, reset and restore the phone and see if it helps.

I had a customized FR ROM 34.1.A.3.49, I had the Nougat update by OTA.
I made some test with ANTUTU with Nougat ROM, the results are :
- 80160
- 75600
- 74600
- 80780

Thank you for you info man but let me explain it to you again
Firstly, what Im saying is on microscopic scale, I do feel even the smallest amount of lag
The laging that comes up after turning on Stamina is waaaay more than the lag that I talked about in OP, of course that is big enough to be seen by anyone!
On android 6.0.1 I didnt see even the smallest lag absolutly nothing! but after the upgrade to 7.0 I was starting to see small lags here and there(you might not even see it! Im very sensitive in this case) like for example when you have 3 notifications try to open notification bar with slow to normal finger swipe down, it lags a little there, and other examples that i said before.
At first i thought maybe the rom is not well optimized but after I saw cpuz I was sure that those cores are off!
On android MM telegram messenger had no lags, nothing! But now it lags a lot when scrolling but i say again this "a lot" is in compariaon to MM! not to Xperia tipo!!!
So I am 100% positive that A72 1.8Ghz cores are not functioning.
Lets go and try to fix that, or wait for an update to fix it.
I created a thread here quoting your first post. Maybe it will get more attention

Have reboot the phone and the core 5 & 6 were activated (up to 1,8)
Just after make it sleep, the core were stopped. Maybe an issue with doze ?
However I can"t say it lag. It maybe a little longer to charge game or big app but I use them to rarely to compare

Hmmm.. Nope, my friend. You talked about a lot of lag: these are your very own words: "it is lagging very bad in many places"
Now if the problem is that you perceive a microlag that could be. With Lagdroid I learned how to ignore that for good.

And I am quite sure that the cores are active, as Antutu benchmark shows in the info section. In the attached picture you can see how Antutu shows that the cores 5 & 6 have a CPU load (which I made it varying moving the notification panel), while at the same time they are shown as disabled. That simply isn't possible. If a core is disabled it can't have any load. So yes, there is a bug, but that seems to be in the CPU monitoring. I doubt we would get 74K or plus in Antutu if those two cores were off.

So what you say is that those cores are functioning normally but its juat showing them sleep right?!?
Then please tell me whats the reason on these even small lags?
Those dont matter actually, I need to know why I cant play spiderman unlimited and asphalt 8 on ultra setting like before
You could test them yourself
See 4 a53 1.4GHz are enough for daily usage but on heavy usage its obiouse that those a72 cores are missing
But there is one probibility, that those guys become active on very high usage like antutu! But I guess thats gonna be VERY HIGH!

I have exactly the same on Antutu, and the max frequency is 1804 MHz.
