Hello, I have a lg g2 d802 (32gb) that hasn't turned on for a few years. The phone was working but then one evening I left it on charge and the next morning it didn't turn on anymore. I tried to replace the ignition circuit and battery but it still doesn't work. I don't know what happened to it, but I think maybe the problem is with the motherboard. I would need to recover the data present in the emmc internal memory. Do you have any idea how I can do it? I was also thinking of buying another working lg g2 and trying to swap the emmc. Or is there a cheap way to be able to recover the data on the memory? Ideas on how I can unsolder the emmc? Thanks so much for your help.

Geetings,
A while ago my device had a hardware defect (most probably defected VGA / http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794925), back at my home country the device's board was replaced by a new one.
As expected I lost all the data since the internal memory is built-in (I think so).
Here come the important question, If I bought back the original board from the service store, can I recover any data from the Internal memory? even though I was able to access the recovery mode when it was bricked, but didn't want to trip the knox chip so I lose the warranty.
Best regards,
McHaimech
Hi all,
I've got a dead/hard bricked (can't turn on at all, black screen, no charge indication) phone.
The phone was fully stock, no root, no funny business (was used by my parents), and one day it spontaneously bricked, out of the blue.
We can't replace it under warranty because it was purchased abroad, so I'm trying to revive it.
I came across this unbrick guide, which would require (if the process goes well) to flash a PIT file, which must match the phone's memory size. I've been told the phone is 16GB, but how can I tell for sure if it is indeed 16GB or 32GB, without tearing it down and examining the memory chip?
The sticker has no apparent indication of memory size (I'm attaching a picture of the sticker).
Thanks in advance for any help!
It can't spontaneously be bricked.
You have a hardware failure. No software can fix that.

Thanks for your reply, you're probably right. I messed around with it, it seems that by disconnecting the device from all power sources (incl. battery) for a few hours, I can manage to get it to fully boot (with all previous data intact) and interact with the phone for a couple of minutes, after which it completely stops responding again. I'm guessing the phone stops responding as it gets a bit hot after it boots.
Would you reckon it is a PMIC problem? Or something else?
Hi guys!
So while using my phone halfway, it suddenly powered off and died. At first I thought it was something small and tried to power it on again, but unfortunately it seems to be a much bigger problem. I am unable to do anything with the phone at all. It's become a literal brick.
I have not done any rooting nor have I dropped the phone into the water. I dropped my phone a couple of times, but it was with a proper phone cover.
When I tried to charge my phone, the charging light did not come on. I have tried the battery in an external charging kit and it works fine, therefore I do not believe that it is a battery problem.
The lucky thing is that my phone is still under warranty. However, I was told that the SOP for servicing the phone is to remove all personal data during the recovery process.
Unfortunately, I didn't back up the files in my phone because I didn't see any signs that the phone was gonna die on me, so I was wondering if there was any other way to save my data.
I read online that it may be worth trying to use a USB jig to try to force the phone into download mode. Is this possible? Does anyone know where I may be able to purchase one?
Unfortunately, I do not know which specific model my carrier sells, but it's a Qualcomm 2.7 KHz 4G+ note 4. Can't remember the exact firmware it was running on, but it should be the latest stock firmware.
Would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks!
Is there anyone here who has any advice for me?

jig is basically a 300K ohm resistor across pins 4 and 5, so searching for brand names/judging by marketing descriptions won't help. It can only fix soft bricks for you, specifically it lets you enter download mode where you can use odin to flash stuff you want. It wont help you in any other way.
Now that we are clear, the cheapest ones I could find are these:
http://www.amazon.com/SainSonic-Dongle-Samsung-Captivate-Vibrant/dp/B0053H73JQ
http://www.amazon.com/Download-adapter-Samsung-Galaxy-Unbrick/dp/B008THL0V4
Buy whichever you like
And if its a hard brick, off to the service center you go!
PS: i have no idea about any way to backup from download mode, maybe someone else can help you on that part.
If you are able to dirty flash a rom and get it booting then you can backup all you want. Hope that works for you.
Thanks for the advice!
Unfortunately because I wasn't able to power up the device I had to send it into the service center. They replaced the motherboard and the charging point for me and I got back my phone 4 hours later.
Lesson learnt, always backup your data every day.
Ok so i have a crazy question. Im sure its a lost cause but Ill ask anyways. I have a G2 that i used a few years ago and one day it just turned off and never would turn back on. I opened it and installed a new battery if that was the issue, no luck. Left it on chargers for a week, no luck. Im not sure if it just shorted out or what. BUT my question is this. That was the phone i had when me and my wife first met, so theres pictures still on the phones storage. Is there any possible way to access that without the phone getting power? No its not detected by the PC or anything but is it possible to find the chip from the phone that holds the storage and in some way solder that to a new component and get the files? Like i said i know its a long shot, but honestly I dont care if they phone gets destroyed, i would love to recover those photos. If anyone has ANY ideas from the strange to the downright bat**** crazy feel free to let me know.
Thank you!!
Some days ago I shut down my phone because I needed to take out the SIM-card. When I would turn it back on it was dead. Just like that, all of a sudden. The screen is just black, no vibration, no fastboot, no nothing, and when I plug it in to the charger the led does not turn on.
I made a backup a month ago but there is a couple of hundreds of photos and sound files I would like to get back. Does anyone know if there is a way to recover the files off a seemingly dead device?
I am aware of MSM Download Tool, and have used it a couple of times, but am a bit reluctant to use it because of the total wipe.
Sounds like a hardware failure, maybe just a connector. The only way to get the data is to repair the damage without replacing the mobo.
No boot, no data.
This is one reason why I always use a device with expandable storage and use the SD card as the data drive. Not foolproof but provides another layer of physical and electronic isolation.

Thanks for the quick reply. Not very uplifting but I learned something, wasn't aware of the boot = data.

When you boot it decrypts the data, more accurately it provides an access pathway to the data for you. If you can access the internal flash memory without booting and decrypt the files... that's a tall order.
Not sure what form of encryption is in use but it's all a pain.
The easiest fix be to find the physical problem and repair it. If it's a mobo failure that can't be easily repaired you're boned.
I managed to ressurect the phone but lost all files.
For anyone in the same situation I resat the phone using the MSM Download Tool v. 4.0 and the Qualcomm HS-USB QDloader 9008-driver. Beware that this will wipe everything from the phone. When using the tool it said that Sahara failed, if this happens press Power + Volume Up until the installation continues.
After this the phone booted normally and is back in business.
