[Q] Internal memory recovery - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Geetings,
A while ago my device had a hardware defect (most probably defected VGA / http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794925), back at my home country the device's board was replaced by a new one.
As expected I lost all the data since the internal memory is built-in (I think so).
Here come the important question, If I bought back the original board from the service store, can I recover any data from the Internal memory? even though I was able to access the recovery mode when it was bricked, but didn't want to trip the knox chip so I lose the warranty.
Best regards,
McHaimech

A techy query - Deleted files on XDA IIi

All,
Hoping to call on your expertise...
My XDA IIi recently crashed and stayed that way probably about an hour before I spotted it, soft reset didn't work so I removed the battery. Bad idea.
From what I can gather numerous programs still running in background had actually worn down the battery. Not knowing this I removed the battery to reset the device. Un be known to me at the time, the backup battery was faulty and not holding a charge and the unit affectively did a hard reset.
so now I've lost all my data on the device. I note from reading other posts this generally means your screwed and the data is gone with the underlying message to backup device regularly.
However speaking to UK firms like ontrack data recovery for a fee they claim to be able to recovery data from your device and I don't mean the areas referred to as 'storage' and 'storage card'.
How come they can do it, yet no tools exist for the consumer? It sounded from other posts that it was technically impossible, yet for £300 they seem pretty confident.
Am I missing something?
Any help appreciated... lost some pictures and video of my baby boy, born just a few days ago...
Thanks,
PPCDude
as far as i know you cant recover the data any more then you can recover the stuff in your ram on your pc if you close it without saving
sdram will loose the data if it loose power
unlike flash and hd's where even if you delete data it's still there
untill the sectors the data was on is later overwritten with new data

[Q] Samsung I8700 Omnia 7 blocked at startup

I tried to put many different rom but when making the first reboot hangs forever ....
thanks in advance
probably memory problem that the some Omnias are known to experience, send it to Samsung for a warranty repair.
I'm afraid that You have a "dead boot". I don't know how You did it, but for today nobody knows how to repir it. Even using a RIFF Box... So it could be a difficult mission. Tell us what have You done with it?

has restarted by itself, has remained with the words that flashed omnia 7. -
I'll bring in assitance, I think it's the only way.
It is common with sammy's memory chips to die out of the blue. Most of the times the EMMC chip just gives and it's done, sometimes the the internal mem hangs. There's no way to recover. I suspect it's HW issue induced by faulty Sammy drivers, it's been reported to affect some Android phones running leaked ICS also.
Also, maybe it's a downfall of the way WP7 handles physical mem. It only occurs when flashing or updating through hard reset. It's the eMMc that is only used then to format, partition and so on. There were a lot of hardbrick on the first WP7 update so all leads to Sammy.
Sadly, the only option is MB swap. As the Omnia7 is a late 2010 model, all the phones are covered by warranty. Just call a SC and when they ask you about the receipt, tell them that they should consider the date of mfg as the date when the device was made-they know that by the IMEI.

Retrieve data from emmc

Hello, I have a lg g2 d802 (32gb) that hasn't turned on for a few years. The phone was working but then one evening I left it on charge and the next morning it didn't turn on anymore. I tried to replace the ignition circuit and battery but it still doesn't work. I don't know what happened to it, but I think maybe the problem is with the motherboard. I would need to recover the data present in the emmc internal memory. Do you have any idea how I can do it? I was also thinking of buying another working lg g2 and trying to swap the emmc. Or is there a cheap way to be able to recover the data on the memory? Ideas on how I can unsolder the emmc? Thanks so much for your help.

Chip-off a bricked s8 to recover data

So yeah my s8 was soft bricked from storage being too full, I was able to check the size and the device only has 500kb, Would chip-off recover the internal storage data?
I think i also had a power IC failure or my galaxy note 2 e-mmc chip was overheated from my storage being too full as well. I have yet to give it to a reliable company to get all data off it

Getting files off a dead device

Some days ago I shut down my phone because I needed to take out the SIM-card. When I would turn it back on it was dead. Just like that, all of a sudden. The screen is just black, no vibration, no fastboot, no nothing, and when I plug it in to the charger the led does not turn on.
I made a backup a month ago but there is a couple of hundreds of photos and sound files I would like to get back. Does anyone know if there is a way to recover the files off a seemingly dead device?
I am aware of MSM Download Tool, and have used it a couple of times, but am a bit reluctant to use it because of the total wipe.
Sounds like a hardware failure, maybe just a connector. The only way to get the data is to repair the damage without replacing the mobo.
No boot, no data.
This is one reason why I always use a device with expandable storage and use the SD card as the data drive. Not foolproof but provides another layer of physical and electronic isolation.

Thanks for the quick reply. Not very uplifting but I learned something, wasn't aware of the boot = data.

When you boot it decrypts the data, more accurately it provides an access pathway to the data for you. If you can access the internal flash memory without booting and decrypt the files... that's a tall order.
Not sure what form of encryption is in use but it's all a pain.
The easiest fix be to find the physical problem and repair it. If it's a mobo failure that can't be easily repaired you're boned.
I managed to ressurect the phone but lost all files.
For anyone in the same situation I resat the phone using the MSM Download Tool v. 4.0 and the Qualcomm HS-USB QDloader 9008-driver. Beware that this will wipe everything from the phone. When using the tool it said that Sahara failed, if this happens press Power + Volume Up until the installation continues.
After this the phone booted normally and is back in business.
