I have been using the V35-Amazon version for over 2 years and it still works great. If I remember (it has been a while) most of the Amazon stuff can be uninstalled. What can't can be disabled in settings. I personally use the Amazon store, Kindle and App store so I didn't remove these. I never see or hear from Alexa.
If you just don't want to see all those Amazon apps try what I did first. It is much easier, safer and quicker.

[REQUEST] Help Remove Ads from Amazon Moto G4 Play

Hey y'all thanks for taking a peek at this thread.
We, the people over at the forum for the Moto G4 Play, have had a lot of trouble figuring out how to remove the Amazon ads from our XT1607. You guys have found that simply flashing your gpt.bin and oem.img from a non-amazon XT1625 to an amazon XT1625 works simply enough.
Problem is with our device the amazon oem.img is sparsed into two different chunks, but the non-amazon device has a single oem.img. We have tried many different routes to remove the Amazon Ads from our device but haven't been successful at all. Now we've hit a roadblock and can't figure out how to get around it; and we'd love for the developers of this subforum to help us out.
Check out our progress in this post I made.
Thanks!
be aware that Amazon G4 owners (me included) who used RootJunky's Amazon debloating method cannot receive updates. attempts to flash the stock Amazon ROM (to get updates) results in bricked phones. so de-Amazon'd G4 owners with locked bootloader are stuck. we may not be able to install the Nougat update.

Damn. We really need to figure out a way to root this device without unlocking the bootloader.
Ditto on this thread! ... Love my G4 play but not the AMAZON bloatware, want to delete it! ... Please help us get rid of this waste of space...

That won't happen no matter how hard you figure. It was done on the older Qualcomm chipsets and since then the RSA key has been beefed up to the point that if someone could break what they call the Qfuse and unlock the phone, they would be doing a lot more than just unlocking phones. There have been lame attempts in the near past that didn't go well for those trying so don't count on unlocking the bootloader without Amazon's or Lenovo's blessings.
This is now working (ended up not having to affect the systemui files, it was even simpler).
I am thinking about rolling up the solution into an apk so you guys can run it easily.
This thread seems pretty dead though. Anyone interested in an apk?
Still Interest
Hey...like me, I'm sure there is a lot of interest if there is a workable method to unlock the boot loader.
tnx...

Removing ads and unlocking the bootloader are two completely different things. The bootloader on the Amazon phone will never be unlocked until Amazon allows it.
YEs! Show me how....

Is your phone rooted? If your phone is rooted, just use any file manager program and delete the app called Amazon Offers. You can also freeze the app if you don't want to delete it.

US997 Model bootloader unlock some supported & some "NOT">>> WHAT GIVES??

US997 Model bootloader unlock some supported & some "NOT">>> WHAT GIVES??
So this is some what of an SOS in the form of a discussion..
I recently puchased the LG G6 US997 unlocked version.. At first I wasnt jumping on the root bandwagon immediately due to slow development.
As of lately things are starting to pick up so I gave it a whirl only to find out per the LG development site that my version (US997 "Z" is what LG called it) was not supported.. After multiple attempts and being advised form the LG site that I woul be locked out after 9 try's I bailed after 4..
Has anyone esle ran into this wall? If so whats the "work around"? (IF ANY)
Ive searched google for days and the dedicated thread by @autoprime and unless im missing something I keep coming up empty handed.
Any insight on this matter is extremley appreciated.. Thanks in advance:good:

No use, that version (US997z) is not supported!! Only the US global market variant US997 (without the z) is, and the Global Euro variant (H870)... Everyone else can't get root or bootloader unlocked...
Unfortunately, that's how LG rolls.

Didnt know that when i did mine it listed us997 no different variants thanks for the info
The exact thing happened to me. I thought I was buying the US unlocked phone. Nowhere in the software or on the box does it list the phone as US977Z. '
Turns out it's the US Cellular variant of the phone. If you'd like, commit to the bounty thread for this phone. It's our only hope.
Looks like I have the same problem with the US997U. I thought that extra U on the end just meant Unlocked, but that tiny difference is preventing me from unlocking my phone. Lame.

Yes and no. Try looking around this forum at least a LITTLE before you ask for help. There are plenty of guides.

It means some can and some can't. Go read the guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/how-to/official-lg-g6-bootloader-unlock-t3614719
This tells you everything you need to know. If you still can't figure it out after that, you're probably better off not rooting.
LG G6 variants H870+US997 can have bootloader unlocked and be rooted with general ease.

Not completely correct. It depends where your US997 comes from. US Cellular US997 devices can't currently be unlocked.

Where and how do I start my rom installation process?

I have an LG V20, thats the sprint version. I'm on the March 1st 2018 security patch. Id like to install a custom rom to increase game performance, but i have no clue where to start. Can someone give me an idea what to look for? Any good roms?

You don't. Thank Sprint for making the LS997 the most locked down variant and unrootable past the very old version ZV7 with a negligible chance of ever becoming rootable again.
For all the other v20 variants, which are still rootable, there are several guides for different variants, just search xda for the thread for your variant.

It's probably legit but the key is in the first step, you have to unlock the bootloader. Currently there is no way to do that therefore it's a no go.

No, their guide on unlocking the bootloader is wrong and won't work on any v20. It's a joke, they took the generic steps and assumed they worked.
