My phone suicided? - Huawei Nova 2i (Mate 10 Lite / Honor 9i) Questions

WTF!!?? I just let my phone working, alone, turned off, over my workbench, on a box, two days ago!!
And yesterday when I tried to turn it on newly it does nothing. Then I guess it drained the battery (but I didnt remember leting it turned on) so I put it yesterday to charge.
But, today, still does not turn on, and when I connet it to my computer it shows as "USB SER".
What stup*d phone!! I don't understand what it did if I left it alone on a box only for one day!! wtf!!??
Note1: That is my second phone, so I rarely use it. And I remember only put it there as always, doing nothing, not updating anything. I use it for take pics or record videos, it does not have sim card.
Note2: It have a new battery, I changed it recently.
So, I will search for information on internet on how to recover it from a "USB SER" state. Or/And understand of what is "USB SER" mode. But if someone know something abut this case, please let me know.
It shows as: "Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. USB SER".
Thank you.

Usb Ser... not enough power to charge fone. You tried to charge fone from a usb on lappy or pc, standard settings for windows usb is only 500mA (milliamps) devide that by ports, you dont have enough power through usb, just a guess?
Try a decent charger, around 3.5A max, (or 3.500mA) to PUSH power into battery.
This is how many kill thier usb, the fone sucks the life trying to get 2000mA from 500mA, no happenin.

I use a 2 amp wall charger and I have a USB tester that shows flowing 0 mA so I assume that it is charged. But I will test without battery next time if it try to drain some amps. I guess it is not working because does not drain power at all from the charger. USB SER is on PC but on charger it does nothing, it is as I know dead, same like dont put anything to charge.
And yes, I have more chargers, USB cables and my main phone to test and the chargers and cables are working good draining enough amps from the charger. The only phone that does nothing is the Huawei Mate 10 Lite.

I checked the battery (dissasembling the phone) and it is charged (4.22 V). So the battery is OK, the phone is on some low level state that does not boot up neither the first bytes of the FLASH. I think the internal memory got damaged by the aging.
Now I need to know how to upload something to that phone so I can try to reflash it (and hopefully the damaged cells get reallocated).
Some recommendations?
The phone is a Huawei Mate 10 Lite (RNE-L23).

Continuing with the intend to repair this phone I tried with PotatoNV without success because it cannot reboot the phone.
So, it appears to be a hardware issue on some place.
PotatoNV output:
Code:
info Autoselecting USB VID:PID=12D1:3609 LOCATION=8-1 aka USB SER at /dev/ttyUSB0
done Flashing xloader
done Flashing fastboot
success Bootloader uploaded.
info Waiting for device...
info Connecting to fastboot device...
success Bootloader code updated
info Rebooting device...
error Failed to reboot device

Still not solution. My phone always boot on SER mode. PotatoNV can enter on fastboot mode but cannot boot the real firmware. Screen black, led not turning on when charging (but charging is working).
It is the same as having an Arduino with only a serial port :-/

The phone went into service mode. Restore with board firmware using DC Phoenix (paid service).
Or, you can try using the testpoint and IDT method and install the board software,
but without knowledge and experience you can completely kill your phone.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, it charges via a charger. I have a multimeter and tested the battery and the battery is charged (as I said in a comment above).
I can use fastboot and have a firmware, but nothing happens, it flash successfully without error, but it does not work. I want to know what is happening. Why my phone still stay on service mode. What is triggering that mode if there are no physical changes on the phone. Neither a short circuit as I know.
Maybe a last resort mode because the EMMC is damaged?

Could someone assist me please

My jasjar shutdown after the battery was drained from normal use. So I tried to plug it into the USB port to charge. Well the amber light did not come on. So I tried to unplug and plug in again. Nothing. So I tried to charge from the lighter adapter, still nothing. I do not have a wall adapter.
So I purchased a new battery, and inserted into my jasjar and plugged up to the USB port. Well now I get a flashing red instead of amber.
Well at this point and reading on this forum I decided to hard reset and reload the OS thinking the current one was corrupt. Well the hard reset didnt work using my USB. So I tried it while plugged up in my car and I got the menu and selected 0 to reset. But it showed clearing and then shut off. I called PPC Tech and they told me that it was all corrupt.
So I cant connect via USB so how do I get an OS on my unit. Is there another way to do this.
If anyone could help I would appreciate it.
Regards
Julian
You should see if you can enter in boot loader mode (search for all the procedures in the wiki).
If it does not enter into boot loader, then you will have to "unblock" it manually, this procedure involves some communication with the PDA directly with MTTY, again, search for this procedure in the forum/wiki, also search for the mamaich method if the things get tough, do not panic, it's usually feasible to recover your PDA.
Be patient and read, then if you have doubts, ask a more specific question, then the people who knows will usually answer you.
cheers
Thanks kecido for the reply,
Yes I can enter bootloader mode but only using car adapter. All my batteries are uncharged and I do not have a way to charge.
I do not have a way to get a USB connection to my device. For some reason nothing works with USB connection. I can only get the 2 boot screen methods by using car adapter.
I have tried 2 different USB cables, maybe I should try another.
Again thanks
you should just buy a wall charger from here http://www.buybits.com/product/sku_bb-world-charger-htc-universal.aspx
or even buy a cradle charger that can charger an extra battery as i doubt the universal will charge the battery without windows being booted (very stupid idea that). If you cant fix it can i buy the lcd cable from you As i have a universal that works but my backlight is broken
Well Im not ready to give up just yet. Somehow I have to get a battery charged, and proceed with the process.
Regards
Im still needing help
is there anyone that could assist me please. Im not sure what to do now.
So your device is not dead, well, then it should be easy, you just have to recharge one of your batteries out of the PDA, many sellers in Ebay (most of them from Asia) sell the batteries with an external charger, this could be a way of charging your battery without the PDA, you can also charge the battery with any external charger for Lithium batteries (i.e. a cellular external battery charger), you could even charge the battery with an old cell phone (it has to have a Lithium battery), all that you need is to take the positive and negative poles from the phone to the battery, it could take more time than with your PDA, but it will work.
You could also attach your PDA to an external power supply, you should give him 3.7V and at least 1A through the battery's contacts (not the USB connector that is disabled when you upgrade the rom), the power supply MUST have a voltage regulator in order to keep the voltage constant, if you're not sure about this, or if you don't have the necessary equipment, try the other two solutions to get your battery charger and being able to reflash your device.
I'm out of my work (another continent) and will not return until mid april, i do not remember the circuit well, but there I have a very simple one to recharge lithium batteries, but this requires electronic assembly, if you have the skills, you might search the internet for a Lithium battery charger.

HTC TyTN does not charge anymore.... Need Help

Hi Guys
I have a problem with my TyTN at the moment.
My device is not charging.
Yesterday i put it in my Docking Station and wait a little time.
But Now the Tynt isnt charged.
I think ist a Problem with my TyTN Hardware.
I have all Power Supplys used they i have, but it doesent work.
Can you help me?
Its this a problem with the accu or a fuse on the circuit ?
Sorry for my broken english i hope you understand me.
Regards Patrik Laube
Hello,
first of all, try to soft reset the device.
If it fails, hard reset it.
If it doesn't work, go the service center.
Good luck
The above advice is fine. But you did not say if any of the LEDs are lit.
Do you get the red NO CHARGE LED?
Does your phone operate normally except for not charging?

Hello
My Phone is working fine but i cant charge it with the original HTC adapter.
I must load the accu with a special loader.
USB and Charge dont work....
And i have no warranty I cant send it to my operator.
When i plug in the USB Cable it doesent make everthing.
I think it was a to high voltage on the USB or the USB Ground ( - ) had a electrical Power for a litte moment.
Have you an idea?
Thanks for yur help.
Regards Patrik
I had a similar problem, which was sorted by a new rom, but I ascertained it was software problem when I realised it charged when powered off.

hi,
try this: when your device is connected via usb, tab on the battery icon in the taskbar on you device, go to the register "advanced" and check/uncheck "When Device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the pc"
thats it

I'm having an issue along these lines, also.
My phone has been working fine untill the other night when I tried to charge it via the wall electrical outlet. It will not charge at all, the battery has been drained to nothing and I can't turn it on. The yellowish light doesn't turn on when I plug it in like it used to.
I don't know if this is a battery issue or an issue with the USB connection inside of the phone. On a side note, when it did have power and I tried to connect it to the USB via the PC; it didn't work. The phone was on, but the computer didn't even notice the phone was plugged in. That leads me to believe it would be a connection issue; but I'm not quite sure.
If anyone has anything they can add to this I would appreciate it, thank you.
P.S. Bringing it to a service center is a bit out of the question in the mean time seeing as it was bought on eBay and funds are limited for the time-being.

Hello, I cannot find the "When Device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the pc" in my device. My Rom is WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.20273 cooked by dvha79_ddt.
My HTC TyTN has the sample problem, but i can use the USB to charge normally. It cannot work using my AC adapter Only when the device is open...
About your Battery Issue.
I'll tell you exactly why ur phone isnt charging anymore... If you have been charging it alot on the USB or pretty much any!! charging on the USB u have killed ur battery, never charge your phone on the USB it kinda sucks they should make these phones able to be Sync'd thru USB without a battery cause these batteries should not be powered thru the USB over Time... from syncing to your pc will kill these batteries i have noticed that when u sync this Tytn Ithru USB and the device is at say 70% it charges up to 100% pretty fast i would recommand to you and anyone who reads this dont sync your TYTN or any HTCC phone for to long to the USB Cause it will Trash your batteries Life down the road... Hope this was HELPFUL.
Cheers

^I'm having the same problem with my herm200. I did the soft reset, hard reset changed ROMs but still the same problem. I don't think it's the usb connector because if it is it wouldn't have been able to charge the phone even if it's turned off. Before I'm able to charge it turned on but it would take a few minutes before the orange led turns on, but when I use the phone or if I receive a text the orange led would turn off it's like the charger disconnects but after a few minutes it would go back again. Now it just wouldn't charge turned on, sometimes it gets worse where it just wouldn't charge on or off.
Now I'm already planning to buy an external battery charger.

Are you using an official 1000mA charger? (Not a 500mA one) 500mA ones work, but they are under-powered and can cause strange behaviour, like not charging whilst turned on or whilst on a call. Similar problems can be found with car-chargers that will not charge until the device is soft reset.
Mike
^no it's not the official charger, I have this usb wall charger called Power Juice (phone and mp3 charger).
Input Voltage: AC100-240V
Output Voltage: 5V
Output Current:1000mAh
Do you think it's because I'm not using the original charger?
fixed my charging problems
The boyfriend told me to try a new cable for my charger so he bought me a 5pin usb cable, tried it at home and it worked! I still need to turn off the screen sometimes but that's ok at least I don't have to turn off the phone anymore. Now my battery charges less than 3 hours.
Hold both SoftKeys and Then press the Power button
Or you can also hold both softkeys and then put your stylus into the reset hole.
answer why it does not charge through the usb
Sorry for the very very late response. Under electrical legislation all hand held electrical devices must be insulated and fused. Some of the chargers that you can purchase are sealed without fuse which indicates that the phone has a fuse contained within its circuitry (or there may be 2 fuses one in each device) .
The problem you have encountered is that you have connected your phone to a computer or mains supply to charge. There has been a surge in the electrical supply either on connection or by un-connecting from these supplies (e.g. connect to the computer as it is booting would see a 65w signal through the USB) and this more often than not blows the fuse which sits on the PCB (printed circuit board) just after the usb connection internally to the phone.
you can either have the fuse fixed for 20/25 gbp or you can purchase a new circuit board or you can use an external charger for the battery. As it is only the power input point that is faulty.
hope this helps
Since we are at this non-charging & battery issue, I would like to ask this question on the D838pro. My battery won't charge even after 24 hours of charging. The red LED blinks thru the whole process. The LED did not turn on to orange or green. It is the battery problem because my spare battery works well. I would like to know what is wrong with the battery as I am willing to strip down the battery. Could it be the battery circuit or wiring that had fired?

Never tried stripping down a battery, some things... well, just don't seem worth it. However as a learning exercise it might be interesting. Without lots of testing on a good battery with a multimeter then I have no clue what the readings should be between all the contacts. (Now there's a little job for you) It is as likely the internal structure of the battery is screwed as it is to be a wiring problem.
If you solve it you can certainly report back here

need quick help please defy wont charge

Hey guys I am hoping someone can assist me. This morning when I woke up my defy would not charge. I have tried charging via my pc, ps3, and 3 wall chargers and it refuses to charge. The battery is at a very low state (around 7 percent). I am afraid if I call tmobile and/or bring it to their store and they look at it im screwed because im running CM9.
The phone is still under warranty for another few weeks, do I just chance it at this point and hope it has enough juice to flash the USA SBF and then go for warranty options or is there a fix for this?
EDIT: silly me, cant flash a SBF because my pc doesnt know my phones connected
did u try to use other usb cable ?
maybe the problem is the usb cable .
Yes all 3 chargers had different cables. My wife's LG marquee is charging fine on them
Sent from my LG-LS855 using XDA App
is it odd that without a battery in the phone I can wiggle the usb charger and my phone will boot into CM7? I thought it was odd, I kind of find it out on accident
EDIT heres the deal I can wiggle the usb end that plugs into the phone itself without a battery, and the red M logo comes up and will boot into CM7. At any time if disconnect the usb during this process, the phone turns off, If I leave the usb plugged in it continues to work. Anyone have an idea as to whats going on? It seems like it must be getting a signal from the usb cord
my friend, if you have an earlier complete recovery just boot into recovery mode the restore it. i can confirm that will solve your problem as i encountered the same problem before.
try to use an original usb cable.

Usb-pc and charging problem.

Hello, I am the owner of the Chinese version of the phone. I have trouble. After installing the unofficially firmware there was a problem.
The switched on phone does not see the connected charger, does not see the PC. (PC does not see my Phone too. No New devices)
If the phone is switched off and connected to the PC, then turn on my Phone, the PC and the phone see each other, until the cable is removed.
If the phone is switched off and connected to the charger, the phone is charging. If turn it on(connected to charge) Phone is charging, but only slow charge (no qc)
I tried different chargers and cables, including official.
I tried to install different firmware via Myflash and Axon7_EDL_Tool
for example:
A2017_B13_FULL_EDL_UNBRICK_DFU
A2017_B17_NOUGAT_FULL_EN
A2017_B11_OREO_FULL_OR
etc.
disassembled the phone, all contacts on the board are normal. externally all is ok.
what do you advise? how to return the phone to its normal state?

Very strange... it should not just stop working with usb port suddenly like that. You might have to try ordering a new USB board from Ali Express to actually make sure it's not the board. Some chip on it may have bricked that would be harder to ping.
mine does this too, only way to get it to charge is to power off, plug phone in, and then power back on. Tried clearing cashe/delvik and even wiped everything clean and did a fresh install of newest version of bootloader/twrp/rom
I am also experiencing this recently. about two weeks already not having quick charging and PC connection nor OTG function not working.
If I have time, I'm gonna open up this phone too.

SGS7 not charging after software update fail

Hey everyone, it's my first post here and I'm glad to meet you all.
Recently, I updated my SGS7 edge using OTA updates and it failed to turn on after(stuck on bootloop on samsung logo). While i managed to turn it on after wipe in recovery mode, battery percentage decided to drop to low percentage (not sure what exacly, but to the point I decided to charge it). It shows alert about wet USB port, and I'm sure it wasn't wet at all, but I decide to stop charging and let it dry for few hours. Battery lost its charge completly while it was drying. After few hours i pluged it again, and it was charging (at least i thought so). After 2 hours of charging it managed to charge 1% of battery and then it turn off. When I measure the current flow to the battery it shows 90mA when I plug charger, then it drops to 0 mA after few seconds. When I press buttons it shows that current is flowingh again, but never more than 90mA. Anyone knows what can be a reason for such behavior? Is it charger port broken, or firmware malfunction?
EDIT: I've trierd to charge it for a bit with power button pressed. Now it shows that current is equal to 170mA and it keeps flowing without button pressed.

The way you've described it almost sounds like a short. It may also explain the difficulty with OTA (short). The S7 USB charging port may be suspect but also the battery may be at end of life. To eliminate the other usual suspects, have you tried a different USB cord and/or charger? Does your S7 show as connected when plugged into PC (either through adb commands or file explorer)? Have you tried charging using a wireless charger?
If needed, the good news is charging port isn't too difficult to replace, granted you have a heat gun and a few tools (google S7 teardown -- iFixit or youtube). If you're convinced the port is bad and decide to replace it, might as well replace battery too (OEM only). After the above mentioned process of elimination you're left thinking software, maybe download model specific required firmware (matching current binary) and familiarize yourself with ODIN flashing.

I managed to charge the device, I left it plugged into charger with power button pressed and it started after ~2 hours. Now, I'm trying to charge it to 100% just to backup my data. Really appreciate your help tho.
I was trying 4 different USB cables, 2 chargers and powerbank. Device wasn't recognized by computer by any means. I have no access to wireless charger unfortunately. I'm not gonna replace any part of it becouse it is time to change it to newer model I guess.

Hopefully all is well then. I wouldn't rule out repairing the S7E, it's still a competitive device. Newer phones are fine if you can afford it but I prefer proven devices with development and software support. Granted, it is a personal preference. For the same price of a new flagship phone I can justify to the wife fiddling around with 5 or 6 old ones (ha). Other than an LCD/digitizer most parts can be gotten pretty cheap and there's always [insert any online sales (ebay/swappa/amazon)] in order to acquire a salvage device for parts.
