Hi to you all, i been trying to use a sd card as the main storage on my sm-t595 without any success and now the internal storage is about full even though i moved some apps over to the sd card,
now my big question is if i root the sm-t595 will i be able to set the sd card as main storage in any way?
i don't care about warranty issues as i bought this a while back,
thanks in advance for any help provided

No. This is asked quite often and the answer is always no, because it is a BAD idea. The SD card is MUCH slower than internal memory and if you succeeded in running apps from it you'd start complaining about how "laggy" the tablet is. The Tab A line is Samsungs "economy" line of tablets and aren't designed for "gaming". (And gaming is the only thing that requires that kind of internal storage.) If you really require more than 32gb of internal, your only option is to buy a tablet that has more.

[Q] Out of Internal Memory

i'm running out of internal memory on my tab (sprint). i haven't installed a lot of apps. i have more apps on my droid incredible so not sure how i filled up the 2G. maybe it's coincidence but it started going low when i installed clockwork mod. i verified that my backup for clockwork mod is in the sd card so that's not it. any other places i can start to look internally? i barely have 10 or so apps in here.
Maybe check if files and pictures are going on your sd card and not the internal memory.
Try moving some apps to sd card and see if anything changes.

yeah, i moved all the apps that possible to move to the sd card. i've taken only 3 pictures. i still only have 28M left. i guess it's time to check all the folders.
I'm willing to bet that as far as Clockwork is concerned, that 2GB internal storage is seen as your SD card, and the MicroSD card is sdext, which Clockwork probably isn't aware of.
That's the way it works on non-CDMA Galaxy devices (though all those have like, useful amounts of internal storage so it's not really an issue like it is on the crippled Verizon/Sprint versions).

nope, that requires repartitioning so that the sizes are split differently in the internal memory...i don't think anyone cares about this as long as the phone supports 64GB external.... the method was used for reviving the superbricked phone a year ago on ICS smaller system partitions resulted in a successful booting rom but with less storage.
But is there any way for installing all app and games in micro sd like kernel perseus whick allow install all in microsd whatever app or game
Thanks!!!

I've had luck with the FolderMount, liked it and bought the full version. There's a thread for it in the themes and apps section
PS. You should open new threads in the right sections :good:
There was a mod on the S3 that swapped the internal and SD memory - i.e. it fooled the system in thinking the SD card was internal.
Give it time, im sure the mod will become available - you will probably need to root

AFAIK the trick was modifing the vold.fstab file in system/etc/ still i think its useless since the most space is set on internal sd and not the system swapping them makes your storage space even less than it already is...who wants that to happen ?
he can get a light ROM i've seen one in the forums calles biochemical TW i think not quite sure which is 800MB well stripped but still he can add what he needs only and not get to the crazy 1.5 GB system

How to save/move Apps to SD card?

Hi could anyone tell me how to save Apps to an SD card in my Z2?
You cant... its because Google decided to restrict it in 4.4

You can't, read about the restrictions of KitKat. and if you have root you can use an app to do that.
Seriously? Can't believe I just found out... what is the point of this restriction? is andriod trying to copy Apple with their restricted iphone storage?

I don't think Google likes SD cards, and they try to promote their Google Drive. None of the Nexuses have SD card slots.

What about applications though, you can exactly move them to cloud to free up space. The Z2 only has 16gb and with apps getting bigger and bigger that's really going to be a big limitation.

So your apps use 12GB storage? That is how much free space you have. For backup apps you can just move the backup folder to SD card. You can have Nandroid backup on SD card aswell.
Also music and films go to SD card. There are exploits for Spotify to move the folder to the SD card.

You should be able to save photos/videos to SD card still (there's an option in the camera app).
There is an option to transfer data like videos, photo's & music in "storage" , which I know does not solve the problem but is good news for Z2 developers because this shows that it's possble to do it & create roms with that purpose in mind...
There's no problem on galaxy devices coz their native folder manager "My files" bypasses this restriction.
I hope Sony creates their own native manager to fix that!

Could someone test following: connect device with usb debugging, start cmd and try adb shell pm set-install-location 2. Only do it if you know adb.

Try a Xposed module named XInternalSD
Try foldermount. On my Z2 it works but I have the premium version. I am not sure if it also works with the free version.

Free version should work also, I believe difference is in number of pairs allowed.
Thanks for the reply guys! I tried folder mount and it indeed worked for me. But i have another concern, i dont know if its just my phone or others are also having this issue. Do you have problem installing some apps? It says No space available but i still have 9gb available in my internal card. Hope u can suggest what i can do to install any app i want. Thank you!

Let's go out on a limb here but have you tried folder mount?
Still can't do it with new update?
So let me get this straight, even with the new update(4.4.4), you still can't move apps to sdcard on the Z2???
I'm unrooted/stock, just got the device, but I'm shocked to know this, I should've looked more into it before making the purchase. I have link2sd, and I noticed it just takes me to the app in app info(which I could do by myself through settings), and I still don't have an option to move apps to sd card.
Am I missing something? I have to root to move apps to sdcard with the z2 on the latest stock rom and firmware??
I didn't want to start a new thread and saw this one, among others.

6.0 flashing noob questions

I just got the x pure with tax money and I want to root and ROM it I've read all the directions but my questions are a little deeper than that I think. I got the 16gb version cause I knew 6.0 and adoptable storage and I got a 64 GB card. So one of my questions is since I used adoptable storage once I download my ROM on device when I wipe the device before I flash, is my ROM data gonna be gone after the wipe or is there a safe place to put it so it doesn't get wiped? My next question is are any ROMs that uses 6.0 adoptable storage so i can get the same use ability out of my SD card, or is that built in to the Android code and always there on 6.0 so it wouldn't matter? Thanks for the help and if this is in the wrong place I'm sorry I know y'all could help me out the most. And any ROM suggestions that keep the moto voice and actions???
1. Wrong forum to post this. Please go to q&a sub forum.
2. When you use adoptable storage you will have 16+64 gb storage on your device
3. Adoptable storage is a beta feature, so expect bugs, with flashing other roms.
4. In that case use you sd card as adoptable storage.

In the future, it's easier for us if you omit #1 (#'s 2,3,4 were great answers) and simply hit the report post button to notify us to move it. Sometimes (especially on mobile apps like tapatalk) posts/threads land somewhere other than intended.

I found it better to use the external SD as portable storage when flashing ROMs because when I switched ROMs I had to format the card every time. Otherwise it would show up as unreadable after the ROM switch. If you plan on staying on the same ROM then you might get away with adoptable. I had a 16GB model too and didn't have a issue with storage space with it as portable. Just save your music and pics to the card.

No problem. Now if I quoted the right post it would have been better.... I did end up selling my 16GB and picking up a 64GB but for me it's kind of a waste because I put everything on my external card. I really didn't benefit anything other than a lighter wallet

Yeah my issue with the 16 GB is I have big games so I fill up internal memory fast but everything else goes on my card
So I shouldn't use adoptable storage before I flash a ROM just after it if I plan on staying on that ROM right?

how make sd card as default internal storage in s8?

I bought a 128GB memory card while I was using it as internal storage, but this option is not available.

AFAIK Samsung disabled android's adoptable storage function on its phonres. Were you using your sd card as inernal storage on another phone?

Yes, HTC allows that. Samsung removed that option because of the changes they made to their custom kernel.
What aboot the "force allow apps on external" setting in dev options? Wouldn't this allow apps to be installed on the sdcard first?

I think this should work
There is a build.prop for it that is off in stock. Regardless there's nothing stopping you from doing this as root so rooted the answer is definitely yes. As for rootless I don't think it's possible unfortunately.
