Security updates?

I was wondering how many and what updates everyone else have received and when?
I'm currently on the April 2017 security update and I received that in early June I believe.
I'm hoping Huawei can at least be excused by the fact they're working on an Oreo update instead of doing security updates and bug fixes (highly doubtful though). Mine is a Nordic unlocked model by the way.
So are anyone else receiving security updates?
Not here, in Spain. The thing is, I don't see any security patch coming till next EMUI version arrives, hopefully before the end of the year.
Not sure if this helps, but I found some way opening another security gap
As far as I figured out, you need 3 files for the update to work:
update.zip
update_full.zip (or update_full_WAS-XXX_hw_eu.zip)
update_data_full_public.zip
I am sure, FirmwareFinder or any other tool might come in handy doing so. The next thing you'd need would be TWRP which is available as some beta build somewhere on this forum. Then you'd have to unlock the bootloader and root your device to get TWRP on it. I'd recommend doing some research on this as you might have to get some code for "fastboot oem unlock"...
Flash the files listed above the way they're listed.

identifying proper firmware

This has to be a complete newb question but how come when I search on sammobile or updato there isn't an AT&T firmware under SM-G950U, but rather it's always under SM-G950U1?
Example - SamMobile for U1 -- lists AT&T firmware
But SamMobile for SM-G950U, although it lists several carriers, does not have AT&T.
Background: My wife and I both got AT&T branded S8s. I got mine through Samsung.com, she got hers through Best Buy. Mine had no problems receiving OTAs. Hers is still stuck with software from April and will not receive OTA updates nor will it update via SmartSwitch, so I was just going to flash latest AT&T via odin, but only seeing software under 950U1, I just wanted to make sure I was downloading the right one (currently this one, I believe)
@mhh84,
You can download the .zip files for AT&T updates from here, and ADB sideload them > https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s8/how-to/adb-sideload-servers-t3647117
Thanks but I'm not sure that answered my question or helped me. Her phone is on April security patch. The page you linked seemed to have incremental updates but doesn't go back to April.

You can download AQF7 from this thread (post #5), then follow the step by step incremental updates from the first post that I linked. > https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s8/how-to/att-software-update-g950usqs1aqf7-t3625728
OK, thanks @cam30era. I'm still a little unclear about my initial question though. Is the answer that AT&T firmwares aren't available or that for some reason they all just are classified under U1? I guess I want to know why it's better to do 5 incremental updates like this rather than just grabbing the August AT&T firmware from updato/sammobile. That was my original plan. I just got confused why the AT&T showed up under U1 rather than U.

I can't tell you the "why", but from observation I can tell you that there are no Odin download links for AT&T firmware updates after April. Using @norbarb thread for ADB sideload appears to be the only way to update if you're not getting OTAs.

H915 rooted users

Hi I'm looking for h915 users of the Canadian v20 that have successfully rooted their phones. I have many questions and concerns to ask concerning the h915.
I don't know if in 2018, will there still be h915 Users since not much developments for the h915.
Welcome to the small group of Canadian 915 users. Allow me to summarize your information quickly.
If you have received the latest security patch pushed OTA, you're unfortunately out of luck and can not safely root your V20. I unfortunately downloaded the update before I even reached home during the day I purchased mine... Boy, do I regret that terribly. I want root so terribly bad.
Secondly, if you have NOT run the latest security patch, you can flash the US 996 version and successfully achieve root without any problem. The only issues that may arise are baseband incompatibilities, but those are easily corrected by flashing back a 915baseband.zip found here in the forum.
To clarify the aforementioned security patches; In your settings -> software info ... you'll find 'Android Security Patch Level'. If it reads May 1, 2017 then you're out of luck. That bumped your software version from something like H91510d to H91510q. If I'm not mistaken, I believe '10d' was the latest software version released by LG that would allow us to cross flash software versions. Later versions are patched up and locked down.
If you're v10d then hallelujah for you brother!
*If anyone has a correction on this info, please chime in!*

I was told that you can use lgup to downgrade to h91510e or h91510d since h91510q doesn't have anti-rollback features. So if thats the case I still have the option to start ?

It looks like I was misinformed the entire time. Well then! Give it shot buddy, I thought that 10q was ARB enabled. According to a deeper check on my own device, it comes back ARB=0. We're all aware what that means ?.
Now I'm very very curious. I'd love to follow your progress and see how you make out with this my friend. There's just one last thought to keep in mind though; LG consumer relations department for their software updates has officially confirmed the next April security patch will ship Android 8.0.
Wait for a taste of the Oreo? Or root now and make the update a little more difficult in 3-4 weeks. Either way I'm half tempted to take the plunge myself now too!

I would wait for Oreo to come to v30 and g6 before getting excited. Who knows, their Oreo update suppose to come in March and still hasn't.
As for rooting, im still hesitant to pull the trigger. I still need to find out if my LTE on freedom mobile is going to be affected even after restoring the basebands.

Freedom/wind functioning just fine according to this thread.
As for the V30; Oreo beta release is already out to the entire country of South Korea for the V30, for a few weeks. A small select few of American users have already received this beta as well.
G6; China has already been testing 8.0.
Seeing as 8.1 is already released, it's highly presumed by a many sources that LG will likely skip 8.0 altogether and push 8.1 to our devices. 8.0 merely serves as a means to identify larger incompatibilitys/bugs.
i just rooted my h915 with this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/guide-root-twrp-lg-v20-using-dirtysanta-t3722278
it is much simpler process compared to the older dirtyelf method. The thread op was very helpful in getting through it.

Thank you so much for this input brother. I'm strongly considering this now. How is your cell signal/LATE speeds? FM radio functioning correctly as well? Any odd vibrations upon bootup?

hmm it turns out i can't connect to freedom mobile. Im working with the op to resolve the issue. I will update when i can get my signal working along with root.
update 1: so I was told to use lgup to install the us99610f kdz and factory reset and now I have signal again. Now I am gonna use the same process of the guide i used again to root the now converted device.
update 2: i have gone thru the guide again and have achieved root + freedom mobile signal on my phone.
update3: I have installed weta rom and it is working all fine with signal.
the op of that thread @dksoni411 will be including a separate guide for h915 users in that thread since it has additional steps to follow. In the meantime, i can help you if you want to get root on the h915.

i made this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/lgv20/comm..._v20_canadian_update/?st=jeh88vej&sh=d1dca001.
keep in mind i asked for info on the h915 since its been stuck on may security patch.
Lge security product is suppose to be the best accurate info compared to the customer rep of lg social media accounts.

Did you try installing the 915 baseband.zip from post #6 for your inability to connect to freedom?

no i used patched lgup to flash us99610f kdz to get working signal and then did the whole guide again to get a working signal rooted h915 phone. Afterwards no need to do any baseband installing as the signal is strong as how it was on normal h915.

Nougat Security Update Instructions

Hi XDA fam. I'm currently running NPH 25.200.22 unlocked and rooted with Majisk since it was released. Work and life has prevented me from keeping up with the update(s) that have come out since then. However, there was a thread put out a while back in the General forum that provided the instructions to update that came out after 25.200.22. I have been having a hard time finding this thread (don't know if it was deleted or not) and the search function isn't helping. Does anyone recollect the title or can point me to the instructions to flash (dirty) the OTA? I really don't want to go through the process of wiping the phone and putting on the firmware.
I appreciate the help.
I think 25.200.22 is the latest release and most likely the final "official release"
My phone lists the Security patch level as October 1, 2017.

There was at least one security update after that. My patch level is September 1, 2017.

Tmobile S10 Plus running software for S10 - Odd problem

Both Samsung and T-mobile have been a complete waste of time trying to figure this out - hoping you guys can help
I have a Galaxy S10+ on T-mobile SM-G975U
I just got blocked from my work email with the error listed that I do not have the latest August Security Patch
I hit 'download and install' on the update screen a bunch of times, but each time it tells me:
'Your software is up to date - Security patch July 1, 2019' - See attached screenshot
Looking on tmobiles website, I see 2 pages documenting the latest updates pushed for August:
S10: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-39499
S10+: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-39465
Note, on those pages the baseband versions are as follows:
S10: G975USQS2ASGC
S10+: G975USQS1ASGC
Looking on my phone at current software version, it's showing the baseband version is "G975USQS1ASGC" - Which is noted as the S10 baseband on t-mobiles website
My phone is also saying I have the July security patch installed (see attached screenshots)
Any ideas as to what the hell is going on?
According to Samsung they haven't actually pushed out the August security patch for the S10+ - http://doc.samsungmobile.com/SM-G975U/SPR/doc.html
T-mobile's website apparently is inaccurate
You are up to date. The release was in august for july patch. Now there is going to be a august patch soon since their was a exploit found. That's maybe why your work email is refusing to work.
August patch should be out shortly. It is available to install from firmware.science to load via SD card and they usually get it shortly before it's sent out by TMobile.
I had this problem back on the s8 it is fine there are no problems but if you want to fix it then you have to flash with Odin (you just lose all your data KNOX IS NOT TRIPPED)
