Hi guys, i need a little help.
For a few days (since when exactly, I don't know) I can no longer open my play store and the "Google" app (yes, I know -.- ') can no longer be opened. After a "click", it pulls for a millisecond so that it is also opened. You can see a "shadow", the animation, very briefly. Prevent the installation from running without problems ... but now I don't know what to do next ... all apps from the store can still be used. Do i need a new apk? Was there an update? I have no idea ... Do you have a good tip or an idea? fireOs 7.3.1.8
Thanks and best regards

Fire OS 7.3.1.8 is running Android 9.0 Pie. You must install the appropriate versions of Google Services Framework and Google Account Manager using Fire Toolbox.

Okay, so I rooted my kindle fire with no problem and I got "Android Market" installed but it is an older version that looks kind of funny and it is not letting me install any of my apps (or any apps from the store). I want the newest one because I have two different Google Accounts with different purchased apps on them. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Where did you download the Android Market?
Check what version your Android Market is:
1. Go to Settings-->Applications-->Third Party Applications
2. Scroll down and select "Market"
The version should be 3.3.11
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
Also note that there seems to be a filter on the market that doesn't allow all applications to be downloaded on the Fire
You can sideload those apps though, as long as they are compatible with the Kindle Fire

Vending.apk is the problem. All the tutorials had that as the app to use. For me, it was never starting any downloads and yes it was the old market version.
Try com.amarket.apk from the gapps.zip, that worked for me first try.
Use the vending.apk on this post. It is the one that got market fully functional for me.

How did you install?
I installed vending.apk, got same starting download issue. I copied the gapps market apk to sys, chmod to 644 and tried to install. Starts install and then just says Application Not Installed.

This is a good choice. I was using it for a bit on my HTC flyer before I rooted and installed on my Fire.

Can't seem to find an answer to this question.
Looks like the mod Dexter did for adding Google Play to the A7 was for an older version of the A7 firmware (1.4x).
Will this mod work on 2.2 or am I out of luck?
I just inherited this tablet from my 94 year-old mother and the only app I want to put on it is sold only on Google Play.
Thanks
is yours an a7 or a7+ ????

Sorry, mine's a 7.
Any advice from anyone?
Thanks.
OK, I am editing this last post. After a couple of PMs with Dexter, I decided to run the mod on my Elocity. I did discover that the Android Version is 2.2 and not the firmware.
The firmware version is the latest which is 2.01.
Anyway, the mod worked perfectly and now my A7 has access to the Android Marketplace and Google Play.
So all is calm in the universe. The only issue on Marketplace is that it reads the original device model, so if an app was incompatible with your device before the mod, it probably still is afterward. I have an astronomy app I want that lists the Elocity (T-Mobile Compal A7-040) as "incompatible" by the maker of the software because of it's inability to gain access to the Google Marketplace. Every other requirement for the software is met (Android 2.2 and a 1 Ghz processor), but Google still sees the device as imcompatible and won't let me buy it. Bummer!
Where can I find the files for Dexter Mods?
Just bought one of those old A7-004s from Brad Deals.
I want to have Google Play (Market) on the unit. Ready to burn new rom, but where are the Dexter Files? His website is dead.
Thanks

i have google play on mine and its stock with a few changes but because its under warranty i refuse to put a full mod on it till the warranty runs out.. but anyway go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431967 and use the dropbox download and use the z4root app to root your device, if its already rooted then proceed to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582422 and get the latest play market.
note i tried the modded market but it wouldnt let me download anything so i went with the non mod google play market and everything seems to work fine.. just the normal google crap saying some apps are not compatible with your device.. but theres a workaround for that if you edit the build.prop to have it say its a different device(not sure exactly how to do it but ive seen a few threads where people have done this but i havent).
Just an FYI, the latest Google Play Services update to version 4.0.34 (924341-36) seems to have fixed issues with dependent apps. All is working well for me again, as of this update, which is available in the Play Store.

Not applicable to 4.5.3; ignore.
Updated to the most recent and I'm still getting constant force closes (though my most recent google play services is 7.3, am I missing something obvious?)
No, I was playing too. With no positive results. I think the op found a different old version.

U can use Titanium backup to freeze Google Play Service. I'm using 7.0.99 and freeze it. It will block auto update Google play service.

I am on a rooted 4.5.2 Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 using the above referenced 380 DPI version of Play Services, downloaded directly from the play store with the latest Play Store version & it is working fine for me. Definitely not an older version I stumbled upon, unless Google is specifically pushing older app updates directly to me.
It is also working for me with 7.3.29 (1866531-036), which should now again be the latest.
I tried to let it update on mine and it broke. Odd...
There are two differences between our devices. I am running 4.5.3 on Thor. I also used the universal gapps package.

Google Play Services 7.5.62
Google have released version 7.5.62 (1927436-034) which seems to have fixed the problems I was having with an experimental aosp kitkat build. For the Apollo device I downloaded it from here.

do you just install the apk as normal or is there a special procedure?
thanks
Downloaded and installed from the place recommended. I am rooted on 14.3.2.4 Apollo. Continuously says that Google Play services stopped working, etc. I did uninstall the old play services first before I installed this one. Any ideas how to get this to work?

Happening on other devices too although problems do not appear to be as widespread as v7.3. Likely have to wait for another fix from google (sigh).
I'm running a rooted 14.3.2.6_user_326001820 (build date September 8, 2014) on my Fire HDX 8.9", and any version of Google Play Services 7.0.99 won't work. I tried the latest greatest (com.google.android.gms-7.5.71_(1955121-030)-7571030-minAPI9), as well as a 7.5.62 (com.google.android.gms-7.5.62_(1927436-034)-7562034-minAPI9), and they both give the dreaded "Google Play Services has stopped".
To the poster who successfully ran 7.5.62 - did you run it on stock FireOS, or on a different ROM?
Does this work on Saturn? I've rooted with Kingroot and disabled updates but cannot get gapps to work. Is there maybe an alternative download I should try? Minimal works for 2 minutes but then goes haywire...thanks

Thanks, Christopher. That's both comforting (I'm not alone, so I'm not crazy or [probably] doing anything wrong) and annoying (I really wish it worked!).

Just sideload your phone/tablet apps via Apps2Fire, you can find it on the Play Store & is very easy to setup.

You can sideload apps but some apps require Play Store to be installed or they won't work. Even if you sideload them they still won't work if you don't have Play Store installed and logged in. The Play Store won't work but the apps that require it will.

One thing that may be worth a try is to use an app like "/system/app mover ★ ROOT ★" in the playstore to convert the for playstore files to system apps. I know the app's name is ridiculous. But I have tried this on Xioami products where a sideloaded playstore did not function and after conversion and reboot it worked fine.
Based on the amount of free space in /system, I believe installing proper gapps should work. I should be done with recovery soon, and if gapps work, I'll include a note about installing them.
do we have a working recovery yet?
that would be great!!!!!!
I have some google apps installed including the play store and Google Play Services but The play store can't seem to grab a connection.

Functionally it all seems to work. I'm just finishing up the prerooted image and I need to do some more testing with that. And then I need to package it all together into something people can easily install.
that is great news!!!!
Thank you

If you can do a mac version that would be cool
Mac version for what? Flashing the custom recovery? Ok, I might not be 100% sure what package rbox will deliver but it sure will be loaded either by adb sideload or the superfast preloader way for people like me hehe

agreed don't be that guy. If your hell bent on getting apps from the playstore do a google on "evozi apk-downloader" and use a pc to sideload with adb or adbfire app. you can also use another android device and use one of the play store apps like "apps to fire" or "fire installer" to send it to the firetv.

Well... you can try to replace the app with adb but i'm not sure if it will work because you need to use the command adb root and the system might refuse it...
Thanks for the reply!
Do you have any idea why I can install this version but not the ones from APKmirror?

However, this version lacks the "receive call from notifications" function. Wonder if it's possible to get a fully functioning Google Phone without a custom ROM.
