Okay, so I rooted my kindle fire with no problem and I got "Android Market" installed but it is an older version that looks kind of funny and it is not letting me install any of my apps (or any apps from the store). I want the newest one because I have two different Google Accounts with different purchased apps on them. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Where did you download the Android Market?
Check what version your Android Market is:
1. Go to Settings-->Applications-->Third Party Applications
2. Scroll down and select "Market"
The version should be 3.3.11
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
Also note that there seems to be a filter on the market that doesn't allow all applications to be downloaded on the Fire
You can sideload those apps though, as long as they are compatible with the Kindle Fire

Vending.apk is the problem. All the tutorials had that as the app to use. For me, it was never starting any downloads and yes it was the old market version.
Try com.amarket.apk from the gapps.zip, that worked for me first try.
Use the vending.apk on this post. It is the one that got market fully functional for me.

How did you install?
I installed vending.apk, got same starting download issue. I copied the gapps market apk to sys, chmod to 644 and tried to install. Starts install and then just says Application Not Installed.

Hi
I have a uk milestone and I messed up my android market
Can anyone upload his market apk and also market updater
please
Sent from my Milestone using XDA App
That is pretty much impossible because Google doesnt share the market app for download.. they have copyright on it or something like that, i dont know exactly the reason but you can always google it
Not an official google apk
U just need to pull the market apk from the /system/app directory it is called vending.apk and marketupdater.apk

I have uploaded the two apks from my Milestone. Let us know if they work.
Hi,
I don't know what happened with my market app. Before I rooted and installed GOT rom, I had seen that the market app had comments in another tab/button. Now after using GOT, I restored my phone to the latest original stock version (still rooted). I don't see that change any more
Anyone please confirm this?
Thanks!

otherwise you could've just gone on ROM Manager and downloaded the Gapps package under CM
Force Closing
I've downloaded and Installed the APK thru QuickOffice... but when I tried to download using the Market App, it is force closing... *sigh* now i'm thinking of buying and HTC or Samsung android phone.

That's not the latest market your stuck with the old version. But if you take the vending.apk file out of this archive and put it in with the gapps.zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9741682&postcount=56
then you have the new market and this one also adapts the language of the market to the language of the phone. Just installed and tested it.
Good luck with it
I do have problem with market (FC) after restore from Titanium Backup. Download Gapps package and update from OR is the fast and easy way to recover market.
Im on overcome Hermes and have a tmob tab. it says flash 10.3 is installed and updated, but no flash movies play.
any advice?
thanks
Search before you post.
Delete it from system/app reboot then install it again from the market.

Yeah, this version of flash blows! I followed the recommended steps and got no joy, so now I am going to wait a few. Adobe upgrades more than any company I know.
hi
just got a new htc desire hd
and there is no android market on the phone
how can i install it to the phone
thanks
Are you definitely sure that it isn't there? Considering that it does come installed stock.
Otherwise, install it from this link: http://code.google.com/p/synergy-base/source/browse/trunk/system/app/Vending.apk?r=239

You really should go back to wherever you bought it from and ask for an explanation.
If that doesn't work out for you, a simple way to install it without connecting it to your computer would be to install ROM Manager and then install Google Apps from there. I personally would take the new Market from the XDAForums.
Hey, if you are going to install the market, it might as well be the new one.
How can he install ROM Manager easily without the Market, and what use would that be? I've merely provided the apk, that's all there is to it.
To the OP, remember to allow installing from unknown sources under Settings > Applicationa

I see your point.
I was just assuming that if he didn't have the market, he probably didn't have some g apps either.
Doing it either way is easy enough, and in any case, and if you're going to install through an apk, then you might as well take the new one (that said, I haven't checked out your link as yet).
Does ROM Manager give a flashable package or a bunch of apks? Because again, if he isn't rooted, he can't flash zips either...knowing ROM Manager, I'm presuming they are zips.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
ROM Manager deals with installing Google Apps the same way it deals with any other ROM. It is a pretty useful thing tto hhave, especially because a lot of ROMs ship without Google apps.
So yeah, I'm guessing that you would have to root.

Sugggest you back to shop to ask for an explain. By default it comes with HTC Sense and all Google apps. If you sure it is not there, maybe the shop flash you another customized rom?
as far as know its the standard rom the phone came with
its wasn't root etc.
its not a UK phone its from Kuwait but it has English etc on it
i was wondering if it doesn't have apps market as standard in that country??
i got it online so would mean posting back, emailed them and that dont understand why it didnt have the market on.

If you go to settings > about phone > software, could you post the info from there on here please? Just to determine whether your ROM is standard or not

You can get the latest Android Market.apk from here.
(It's also on XDA in a few threads.)
EDIT: Sorry, nevermind. I missed the replies on page 1.

Hmm...all stock. Strange.
Did you install the Vending.apk from my link, and did that work? 1.86 is very old, that might be why it doesn't work as well.
If mine didn't work, I can fetch the previous version for you.

Is it possible to get the dolphin browser downloaded onto the kindle fire, because it does not show up in the google play market. and when i followed the link on the site to the google play market it says my device is incompatible. is there a way to trick it into letting me download it or anything?
I have Dophin HD running on my rooted KF. I just copied the APK file over from my Tbolt and then installed it.
I have it on mine as well (on cm9 reloaded rom).

Just an FYI, the latest Google Play Services update to version 4.0.34 (924341-36) seems to have fixed issues with dependent apps. All is working well for me again, as of this update, which is available in the Play Store.

Not applicable to 4.5.3; ignore.
Updated to the most recent and I'm still getting constant force closes (though my most recent google play services is 7.3, am I missing something obvious?)
No, I was playing too. With no positive results. I think the op found a different old version.

U can use Titanium backup to freeze Google Play Service. I'm using 7.0.99 and freeze it. It will block auto update Google play service.

I am on a rooted 4.5.2 Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 using the above referenced 380 DPI version of Play Services, downloaded directly from the play store with the latest Play Store version & it is working fine for me. Definitely not an older version I stumbled upon, unless Google is specifically pushing older app updates directly to me.
It is also working for me with 7.3.29 (1866531-036), which should now again be the latest.
I tried to let it update on mine and it broke. Odd...
There are two differences between our devices. I am running 4.5.3 on Thor. I also used the universal gapps package.

Google have released version 7.5.62 (1927436-034) which seems to have fixed the problems I was having with an experimental aosp kitkat build. For the Apollo device I downloaded it from here.

do you just install the apk as normal or is there a special procedure?
thanks
Downloaded and installed from the place recommended. I am rooted on 14.3.2.4 Apollo. Continuously says that Google Play services stopped working, etc. I did uninstall the old play services first before I installed this one. Any ideas how to get this to work?

Happening on other devices too although problems do not appear to be as widespread as v7.3. Likely have to wait for another fix from google (sigh).
I'm running a rooted 14.3.2.6_user_326001820 (build date September 8, 2014) on my Fire HDX 8.9", and any version of Google Play Services 7.0.99 won't work. I tried the latest greatest (com.google.android.gms-7.5.71_(1955121-030)-7571030-minAPI9), as well as a 7.5.62 (com.google.android.gms-7.5.62_(1927436-034)-7562034-minAPI9), and they both give the dreaded "Google Play Services has stopped".
To the poster who successfully ran 7.5.62 - did you run it on stock FireOS, or on a different ROM?
Does this work on Saturn? I've rooted with Kingroot and disabled updates but cannot get gapps to work. Is there maybe an alternative download I should try? Minimal works for 2 minutes but then goes haywire...thanks

Thanks, Christopher. That's both comforting (I'm not alone, so I'm not crazy or [probably] doing anything wrong) and annoying (I really wish it worked!).
