Can't seem to find an answer to this question.
Looks like the mod Dexter did for adding Google Play to the A7 was for an older version of the A7 firmware (1.4x).
Will this mod work on 2.2 or am I out of luck?
I just inherited this tablet from my 94 year-old mother and the only app I want to put on it is sold only on Google Play.
Thanks
is yours an a7 or a7+ ????

Sorry, mine's a 7.
Any advice from anyone?
Thanks.
OK, I am editing this last post. After a couple of PMs with Dexter, I decided to run the mod on my Elocity. I did discover that the Android Version is 2.2 and not the firmware.
The firmware version is the latest which is 2.01.
Anyway, the mod worked perfectly and now my A7 has access to the Android Marketplace and Google Play.
So all is calm in the universe. The only issue on Marketplace is that it reads the original device model, so if an app was incompatible with your device before the mod, it probably still is afterward. I have an astronomy app I want that lists the Elocity (T-Mobile Compal A7-040) as "incompatible" by the maker of the software because of it's inability to gain access to the Google Marketplace. Every other requirement for the software is met (Android 2.2 and a 1 Ghz processor), but Google still sees the device as imcompatible and won't let me buy it. Bummer!
Where can I find the files for Dexter Mods?
Just bought one of those old A7-004s from Brad Deals.
I want to have Google Play (Market) on the unit. Ready to burn new rom, but where are the Dexter Files? His website is dead.
Thanks

i have google play on mine and its stock with a few changes but because its under warranty i refuse to put a full mod on it till the warranty runs out.. but anyway go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431967 and use the dropbox download and use the z4root app to root your device, if its already rooted then proceed to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582422 and get the latest play market.
note i tried the modded market but it wouldnt let me download anything so i went with the non mod google play market and everything seems to work fine.. just the normal google crap saying some apps are not compatible with your device.. but theres a workaround for that if you edit the build.prop to have it say its a different device(not sure exactly how to do it but ive seen a few threads where people have done this but i havent).

Hello,
Can't download Google Maps 4.4 from the Market, it's not visible in Serbia.
Any volunteers for uploading?
Big thanks!
mate, just wait a bit for mr brut to come out with 4.4 instead.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630887
Google maps 4.4.0 and brut-appmod seem to co-exist btw.
I was happily using Brut-appmod (great mod, btw!), but noticed significant memory leak I couldn't trace. It went down to 40 MB for no apparent reason.
Was it the Brut mod or something else? I don't know, but I've recently wiped clean my HTC Desire and wouldn't push my luck further.

Hello,
Before the brut is released, You can download and install market enabler
http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/downloads/list
With this program you can change your location (like US) and download all software you want.
PS : i Think you need root access.
I guess this is legal so I've uploaded it here. It's on my dropbox so I can't guarantee you how long it will be on there.
If this is not legal, please remove it mods.

Yes, I've already considered that, but am still not ready to root. This is my first Android phone and I don't have enough experience for rooting.
AppBrain app does great job for everything else, but not for Maps.
Thanks for the help!
Thanks

I encountered the same problem, my memory is 50MB now. anyone can tell whether it's a bug of brut maps?
Hello!
My mate would like to play with the following game, but somehow it's missing from the market.
I have a galaxy s, and I have it on the market, no idea why.
Is there any workaround to get it on his phone too?
Thanks for help!
Nobody?
Some apps seems missing from the market. Why is it?
Facing the same issue on my blade as well.
Game is missing from the market.
They are filtered out for you guys, it's there still.
Apps in the market can be filtered out by device type/model or by region.
A good example here would be.
Samsung S can search and find flash player in the market.
Blade wont find flash player in the market.
just install an app called 'market enabler' u can download it via market. this ap fakes ur operator id - ie. im from montenegro my operator id is telenor 2202 and i changed it to verizon us and i can download anything i want. to restore original id just reboot the phone.
Anyone got a fix for this with ZTE Blade/Orange San Francisco? It just crashes/reboots the device whilst installing.

r u talking about market enabler? because on my ROM (FLB Froyo r10b) app is working perfectly, i found about it on google's official website so i'm pretty sure it's good.......
No, a fix for the game.
Working fine on my Desire , but it crashed the phone on installing on the San Francisco .
Can not get far enough to try running it or moving it to sd card as the help suggests on the website. (Yes her San Francisco is on 2.2)

Not working for me mind you from comments on ME looks like It's to do with comparability of newer market... ?
Sent from my ZTE-BLADE using XDA App
It needs an ARMv7 device.. Blade is ARMv6..
It'll never work. Thats why it's hidden.
(sorry for bumping up an old post.. I read the date as 7th april for some reason.. anyways at least my answer is correct )

i am one of few people who bought vibrant to use on AT&T network as i preferred its looks to captivate.
anyway i am on MIUI 1.9.9 LE7 and was trying to install thinkfree mobile viewer app on my vibrant, but coudnt find it when searched thru market on phone, so searched it on pc and it says "this app is incompatible with your device" it shows me only the pro version for 9.99 which i dont need, all i need is viewer which is free. has anyone got any solution?
thanks.
Highly Doubt it
Unlikely but best way to find out is to odin to stock and see if it downloads from there. There are several SW developers that don't offer their products to certain HW. For example, I can download Order and Chaos on 2.2 and 2.2.1 roms but it isn't available on market for CM7 or MIUI roms. I believe this has something to do with how CM7/ MIUI is recognized by market (perhaps as international version). The best way around this (thanks to tip from a member here) is to backup your app, while on a compatable rom, with TB and restore on Revamped. Alternatively you can change how the phone is identified but I have found the previous method to be more successful.
thanks for the reply, i will try your method or i will just try installing thinkdroid.zip which i have from the Trigger 3.2 days lying around

Or just get the APK for that app I believe EDT has this one of their "pick and chose " apps might email them and maybe they can just send you the apk
Or try changing your build prop to whatever the captivate is. Ours is SGH-T959 so I assume theirs would read SGH-I897 but check first.

Hi guys,
i have flashed my phone with Supernova ROM and everything is fine and works like a charm. But i am not able to get 2 apps i really liked from the market because the market apps says my device is not compatible. I know that these apps work with the Desire! I couldnt find these apps in the web! My girlfriend has a Wildfire and she is able to download them but her device is not rooted and so i cannot get the apps out of the internal memory.
These apps are FREE in the market so this is not a warez request or so. I just want to ask whether some guys can download the 2 apps, put them in a RAR and send them to me.
The apps are named:
1. Beetalk Connector for WebSMS
2. Unnützes Wissen Deluxe (The app with the orange icon, not the blue!)
It would be very nice if someone can do this. Or perhaps someone can give me a hint how to find those in the web?
I tried to fake my build.prop, changed LCD Density and used Marketenabler apps which change the mobile numeric gsm code, but i am still not able to download them.
What shall i do?
Greetz
try google search .apk for it, may be your final solution, i took the liberty to help u on:
Beetalk Connector for WebSMS: http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/communication/websms-beetalk-connector_qeok.html

And here is exactly my problem... the "androidzoom" link just sends me to the market! After a click at "Download" it does not give me a download link for the apk, but it just gives me the link to the market! The market wont let me download the app because of compatibility problem...
I already managed to get the second app, but i am still unable to find the "beetalk websms connector" app...
Hi
I have a problem that I cannot install Nexus Q app from market on my Galaxy S3 (stock rom)
it says incompatible device,
I wonder why
even I tried to download apk and install it gives me package paste error
is it meaning the app only runs on Android 4.1? it wont work on 4.0 or below?
It will work once the Q is available for shipping. I contacted Google about it. They said there were still some bugs being worked out but it will be available at launch.

Yes you need 4.1 unless check development forum and see how to change the Q .apk file to work on ICS

I have seen several people say that you need to be running JB to get the Q to work. In the devices manual it says that you need a device running at least GB. Did I miss something here? No way Google is going to release this device to the masses when it's only compatible OS is not even released yet.
I am guessing that at launch Google will update youtube and Play Music to be compatible.

There is a Google support page for the Nexus Q (can't find it right now) that says the current applications only work on JB and the backwards compatible application will be available when they start shipping. If you want to try to get it to work on ICS before then see this thread in the development forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28656080&postcount=1
