I just received this head unit
Ebay "Android 3G WIFI 6.2" Double 2 DIN Car Radio Stereo DVD Player GPS Navigation+Cam"
Item Number: 252162785871
I have not been able to find anything about this model number (TH8681). Does anyone know what roms/rooting with work with it?
Thanks
Dave
This does look like the previous Version of the "Tonghai Infinidi" Model.
Main Difference is it's a Dual Core and the "Tonghai Infinidi" is a Quadcore. But the outside looks identical.
As I have the QuadCore Version and kingroot.net worked for me, I would try this first.
Do you know the code to access developer mode? I asked the seller and they said it wasn't for consumers. I tried the 123456 code as well as the 8888 code, but nothing is working. The typical 7-click on the build version didn't work either.

Good to know thank you. My head unit arrives tomorrow and rooting it will be the first order of business.

For the Quadcore Version the codes are as follows, but no clue if they work on the Dual Core Version as well:
Factory Reset password: 7890
Developer Options password: 7890
USB Debugging password: [email protected]
Extra Settings password: 123456
Please note the attached Quick-Start Guide only claims "126" as the code, but that did not work anywhere for me with the QuadCore Version.

I had asked on the Pumpkin forum and they claim it was 121212
I still have to try it though. The codes you provided did not work for me. I'll let you all know what becomes of the 121212 code.
Codes confirmed

Hi everybody. New to the forum.
I just acquired one of these units (listed as Tocado TH8681 ) and these codes are confirmed! I was able to gain access to the developer options and enable USB debug and also install a rooting program (kingroot 4.5 worked for me) and rooted the device. Next order of business was to backup the device completely before I attempt to upload different firmware or MCUs (the one included sucks IMO). I installed the Android SDK on my W10 and the Google USB driver. I connected to the device by using a microUSB to USB cable connected to my PC and tried to 'adb devices' but was unable to connect or view the device.
I opted for installing Titanium backup and performing a full backup to SD while rooted. I'm not sure if that will be sufficient to recover the device in case I mess up the firmware. Next, I tested the method to reset/reload the MCU from flash. I believe that holding the reset button will suffice to bring it back to factory settings but will test further.
I believe that the CPU is an RK3066 but not sure since all system info apps I've tried list the CPU as "Full AOSP on MStar Cedric3 ". Is there any way or app that can help me to be sure what kind of chipset I have (short of opening the device and looking at the chip) that way I can look for the right MCU and change the manufacturers GUI to a better looking one?
In any case, this is the info listed on my device under 'About Device':
CPU Information: Cortex-A9 dual core
RAM Information: DDR3 1GB
Android Version: 4.4.4 (although all system infor apps and the root program list it as 4.2.2, hummm.)
MCU Version: 4.3.14-1-10-61010101-150525 (notice no Mfr code at the beginning?!?!?)
System Version: 2.9.5_20150722
DVD Version: 2.13.15-860mc-150417
Any further comments or suggestion on how to change or modify the GUI layout is highly appreciated. I specially dislike the inability to remove/modify the two desktop pages with the big tiles for the Video, Ipod, Radio, TV, Navi, etc apps. for example, I do not use IPod so I would like to remove it from the desktop.
cheers and thanks for any comments.
Hello guys!
New guy here. I've been looking on the forums for answers to my issues but they elude me.
I hope somebody can help me out here. I have a TH8681GA and wanted to change the Launcher. Long story short, I thought that rooting the device (easy enough with Kingroot) and having a TWRP backup with Nandroid would be enough to fall back onto if updating/modding went south. Well, it did not quite work like I planned. Things DID go south and I lost volume and tuning knob as well as audio and BT functions. Factory reset did not work, so, I found a few firmware files and tried that but no dice. This particular unit does not have TWRP or CWM as boot options that I know of.
Now my questions to the forum are:
1. How can I perform a full wipe and reload of this unit?
2. Have anybody been able to perform an adb connection via USB on this particular model? I've tried with no luck.
3. Is there any way to boot maybe to a TWRP image on an SD card an restore the TWRP backup to the ROM from there?
I've tried to contact the seller and the Mfr to request firmware files for this unit but seems to me that EVERYBODY in China is making TH8681 units and they may vary in internal components and features.
Thanks beforehand for any pointers. Hope somebody can help me recover this day-old brick.

Where do I get king root? Is that the same as kingoroot? So many of these sites look sketchy.

ThAnks, but there is no code for installing unknown apk's
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA-Developers mobile app
If there is no option in settings, try downloading apk installer in play store. Also if you tap the build section under about device 7 times it will open developer options, may be the option in there

123456 and 7890 try these.
MCU Codes
These codes can be entered when accessing the Factory Settings menu item
• m123456 - opens Factory Settings in "super" mode -- makes another option visible; Launcher type (not sure what they mean though)
• adbon - seems to enable adb on the usb port. Might enable it for all usb ports (haven't tested it yet)
• *#hct#root# - enables persistent root adb on usb port(s) (might be an easy way to root roms, will have to do some testing)
• adboff - disables adb on usb port(s)
• keject - simulates the eject button for the DVD drive
• kpower - simulates the power button
• hcttouch - displays information about the touchscreen/calibration?
• hctbtup - some sort of bluetooth update mechanism?
• hctbtte0-9,0-9,0-9 - some sort of bluetooth testing code -- after the hctbtte there should be 3 digits, ranging from 0-9. Haven't looked into their meaning.
I hope this'd help

Hi there!
I really need to change some factory settings on my android HU. Anyone here who can help me?
Thanks!!
How can i post an image??
It would help to know which HU you have. 126 or 1260 are used by many HU but 8888 and 3368 is used by some brands too. Allwinner based HU have a more complicated code. Go to the general settings menu and hit the gear icon then type the code to get into factory settings.
