My Phone was HACKED!!!! Please help me - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

So here’s what happened, I had a person’s email logged into my gmail and I forgot to remove it from my device. I was watching YouTube yesterday night and suddenly they turned on ‘Lost my device’ and my phone started to format on its own. But since my phone was rooted the data didn’t get formatted. But now my phone is stuck in boot loop mode and now not even getting switched on for some reason. I have an option to go to service Center and fix it but then probably they will format all my data which I couldn’t backup. Is there anyway to fix this problem without losing data? The person who did this is blackmailing me now for money. He said if you want me to unlock your phone pay this amount blah blah. Please help me
Points to be noted-
I have more than 5 emails of my own linked with my device and the main email which is used as phone’s backup email is fully safe but I didn’t know that any newly signed email can also be used to turn on find my device and reset or lock it. I thought only the primary email which is linked can do this.

U can try to flash a custom recovery and view ur file manager and backup ur files and then format your device and flash your rom and put the data in it

If you have another phone you can use that one to try to disable find my device on the 8 Pro or see which device that person is using and remove and block it from find my device. Not sure if this would work but the suggestion from above is your best chance. And if you use custom recovery you can backup everything on the phone from there flash the version of the rom your phone is on after resetting, boot it set everything up and go back into the custom recovery and restore all the data. Just don't use the same email

At least in my home country, I'd file a charge at the police.

I try this:
- remove SIM from phone,
- data + wifi OFF.
Then Format Data in ADB. This Wipes ALL in youre phone ! So copy on a PC or flash drive anything you want.

Yes, possibly factory reset might assist. Back up everything before!

Check what's backed up already, Google contacts, photos etc, then MSM.
How on earth did anyone log into your phone? Did you lend it to them?
Learning curve there I think.
If you let them log in then contact the police.
As it's not booting it could just be as simple as the boot image that's borked.
Try booting the correct image or even safe mode.
Personally I'd just MSM and put it down to experience.

I9000M booting problem- after failed download.

I just installed PSX for my galaxy and installed the all roms app...(forgot name) but i was downloading a game and then i left my phone alone to let it download.
10 minutes later my phone wouldn't go onto the lockscreen aka froze. so i decided to take the battery out...(mind you the download wasnt finished) and now when i boot up the phone it just goes the the "S" logo and either turns off...or freezes.
note* I can access ADB through 3 button reset.
However i do not want to wipe data. as i have important pictures on my internal sd and videos. i was thinking of using the "wiping cache option" cause my theory was that the frozen app was still in memory or something....can anyone give me suggestions to fix this issue?...try to avoid "wipe data option"
thanks.
edit** have got into download mode and tried to use ODIN but odin doesnt see my phone....however kies does. but kies cant connect to it. keep saying connecting to device....any helP??
flashing a rom doesn't delete your pictures I think
just contacts, sms, apps etc
but it is better if someone else also verifies it
edit: oh sorry I just saw you wrote cache... i am not sure what that does. I don;t think it deletes your data.

i am waiting for someone to clarify that i can "wipe cache". By the way, i do also require my SMS messages, there is some delicate information within them. i am currently googling wipe cache. any other help is greatly appreciated. thanks for the quicky reply allotrios
just wiped cache. phone still wont boot to main homescreen it freezes, and/or shuts off. last resort is wipe data. anyone offer a suggestion other than that?
WTH? i just wiped date/factory reset and hit reboot and it STILL doesnt load. it goes to the "S" symbol and shuts off or freezes.
edit* trying to find firmware for i9000M canada version. Attempting to use odin but cant find links
just got pit file! where can i get the pda phone and csc files? what else do i need to flash it using odin? im constantly googling and trying to do this before i sleep
edit** just tried to use odin with a different firmware with all correct files. when pluggin in usb cable in download mode, Odin doesnt see my phone.
kies sees the device but keep saying "connecting to device"
welcome to my world........flashes fine, wiped data/cache, still freezes at the 's'. i just sent my phone in after i couldn't get it going after flashing 40 times.
it would seem your sdcard is corrupted or fried.........try flashing some more roms (jg9 or jh2) with different pits (512 and 803) and wipe data/cache. samfirmware.com for the roms.
as well, if you do not have the 3br fix to get into download mode (since you said you get into download mode via adb), i would suggest you flash the fix asap before you lose the ability to use adb.

ive been sitting here for 3 hours...have a exam tommorow and am fed up. Problem is i bought this phone from a friend, so warrranty is out of the option.
The other problem WHICH can be solved somehow...is that my computer sees my phone. (kies does..but wont connect)..i can "technically" use odin if i can somehow get my phone to work with it.
If the case that my internal sd card is fried....i dont have warranty, do i have manufacturer warranty?. aka samsung?. i dont know just a thought.
can you get into download mode? i assume no as i had the same issue, and adb wouldn't work unless the phone had fully booted up. odin will only recognize your phone in download mode.
the only options you have are:
make a jig with 301k resistor to get your phone into download mode and try flashing
send your phone out to be repaired (some other thread mentioned repair shop in ontario)
go into bell and see if they will take your phone in for repair (samsung 1yr warranty)

i CAN get into DOWNLOAD MODE. but problem is ODIN doesnt see my phone
edit* could you give me a link to that store?
ah, ok...........i had the same problem, but after i installed the drivers for it, no more problems.
you should try that before you send your phone in.
edit: found the link

If you're phone can get into download mode then it should work. However, Odin is somewhat temperamental, have you tried Heimdall?

i have just woken up. my phone is now dead, i cant turn it on. i have tried connecting the charger and it wont charge my phone......anyone have any ideas? is it bricked? internal SD card fail?......i dont have Bell warranty, would samsung canada cover this issue? as internal sd cards area known to fail?......thanks.
edit** never mind, it is now charging. i will keep this thread updated when i finish my exam today and let everyone know where my phone stands. So far i think it is a internal sd card error. But i am hoping after a full charge it may work again.
hmm still same thing, i load to "S" screen and it shuts off, i can still access 3 button recovery and download mode. i just called samsung too, they said to call my service provider, but problem is i bought the phone second-hand.
Have just flashed JH2 firmware and JG5 firmware on phone with ODIN, phone still boots up to "S" logo and then shuts off .
edit** only JH2 firmware will go through to my phone on ODIN, i have tried a 2nd time, it goes to the S logo....looks like it will load to phone, and then just doesnt and shuts off.
So is it safe to say the phone is bricked?.....i have heard of someone in this forum saying there was a unofficial samsung store somewhere in Ontario that fixes galaxy phones?....anyone can link me to this?. I don't have warranty as i bought it 2nd hand. hmm..now idont know what to do, besides, i guess, save up and buy a new phone.
edit** it cant be bricked if i can still access recovery and download mode? right.
Phone is OFFICIALLY bricked, tried flashing a 803 pit file, now it wont power on, or charge through wall charger. thanks to all who helped in little ways. but looks like ill have to buy a new phone.

that would normally be true........with one exemption to the rule.......if your sdcard is corrupted/fried.
if you have flashed back to 2.1 with repartition and wiping multiple times with different PITS, and still the same issue, then nothing will help (at the moment) aside from sending it in.
I Had this exact same issue a week ago. My guess is that your internal SD is dead and you will need to send it out for repairs. Im still waiting for mine from bell to see if they only reflashed or replaced the whole motherboard.
Light
Problem is i dont have Bell warranty....so i am kinda a goner. unless someone has a suggestion?
Just because you don't have warranty doesn't mean you can't pay to get it repaired (at least get it inspected and a quote). Should be much cheaper than saving up for a new one!
If you bought it from your friend, they should be able to send it on your behalf.
Sorry to hear about your issues :/

In Ontario, the only way to get our phone repaired is through Bell sending it to a service center, Problem is my friend doesnt have the receipt. He bought it from a friend. Its past through 3 hands to get to me. Friend's Friend > My Friend > ME.
So...i am currently looking at cell repair shops to see if they can fix this problem....BUT i am assuming alot of them use Odin or some sort of flashing, WHICH i have already done .....
I also called 5 bell stores to see if i could get the receipt printed out using the IMEI code, all of them said this information cannot be provided due to "privacy issues." They told me to call Samsung or talk to a 3rd party cell repair center.....fml.

Forgot unlock passsword - how to get rid of it?

SOLVED.
Greets.
A mate of mine forgot his unlock password the other day. At first I thought it was gonna be the same as with Galaxy S - just flash it or better yet do a wipe/factory reset in recovery and be rid of it - boy was I wrong... I tried everything I could come up with - flashing costum SW, different kernels from xda, older/newer original SW, CMW resets etc. - no luck at all.
So now I turn to you beloved XDA and ur techies - does anyone have any idea how we could reset our SGS2's so that this passwords would be gone aswell?
Solution:
Just spam random passwords (think it was 5 wrong) and then a message appears, that the SD card will be reset and a full wipe will be done - press OK and bang the phone boots normally.
In case anyone finds themselves in the same situation. You lose all your data ofcourse but the password is deleted and bang the phone works.
What password are you talking about, because a factory reset in recovery mode should do it.
I am talking about the screen lock with a password. Like I said nothing works... everytime I turn the phone on I get the "Confirm Password" screen thrown in my face
A ROM flash should definitely get rid of that, but I'm very surprised that a factory reset doesn't do it.
Like I said I tried flashing original roms (older and newer of KE2), costum roms (villian, litenin etc.), different kernels - the password is still here.
I'm stumped then mate. I've never had a lockscreen password persist from one ROM to another. I think household insurance and a brick may be the easiest way to remove it
Hehe ye I was not exactly exstatic about it either... I've been playing with roms etc. since my 1st android Samsung Galaxy (GT-I7500) and the one thing that was always persistant was "Software saves" - and now this with the SGS2...
I just tried the same on mine - set the password and flashed the official KF3 - got welcomed with the "Confirm Password" screen and just input my password that I set before and bang the phone finished with the software update and booted normally...
Thinking this thread would be better off in the development section in case anyone will have the time to look into where this stuff is stored and make a workaround (perhaps similar like the nv_data one for network unlock).
This is purely a guess and I haven't tried it on SGS2, but you could try flashing a ROM via Odin and ticking the option "Phone EFS clear". Not sure but this could wipe also the EMMC partition where I have heard the screen lock data is stored in. I won't take any responsibility on bricked phones or other problems though...
I only did try this on my wife's SGS and for it it did not do any harm.

Tut tut matey. It's a question - it's already in the wrong forum
Heh my bad about the placement of the topic
@Pume EFS is actually where the calibration is stored aswell (which is different for every phone/IMEI/RF), but yes I did try it aswell heh, also tried the bootloader update option ticked on - same story still the damn PSD (Password screen of death?).
First you can try to disable the password via adb (in recovery) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110307
If its not the right description you could try to format the data partition in recovery and then flash a new rom. No idea how smart that is on the galaxy s II but on the desire it was perfectly save. Last i believe this is a more common problem and there should be other threads around with solutions.

Oh, good to know anyway. Damn I'm never gonna put a password on mine as I tend to forget even my own birthday
You could try that again(flash a rom) without your SIM card and maybe without your MicroSD. Maybe it syncs with data and get the password lock from there.
Are you sure the password isn't a PUK lock? Try booting the phone without a sim. If it works, then the password is restricting your use of the service by locking you out of the phone. To solve this you can do one of two things:
1. Get the Sim replaced
2. Call your provider for an unlock code and GET RID OF IT in the security settings under sim-lock
Hope that helped!
Actually I always flash roms without the SD card and SIM as I've come to realise some .pit's acutally repartition your SD card aswell thus erasing it - cheers for the post tho.
@TheGhost1233
You might be on to something with that actually but now I have another problem... for some reason everytime I want to go to recovery it shows that little yellow box (the usual one before going into recovery) and then back to the dumbass PSD. So I can't get ADB working now at all.
I almost don't want to post this hehe...
But ye found a solution - spammed random passwords (think it was 5 wrong) and then a message appeared, that the SD card will be reset and a full wipe will be done - pressed OK and bang the phone boots normally

I think this is anti-theft protection, at least your info is gonna be deleted if someone steals it

Need help fast!

I broke the screen on my S4 to the point that it is not usable. I work in a hospital and urgently need to access my phone and the texts on it. The phone is rooted. Is there any way I can access my texts and unlock my phone so I can access the data on it.
Can you plug it into a PC and access KIES?
Other than that, I do not know. I use MightyText and that keeps everything sync'ed to the cloud. Maybe installing that after the fact.
Or, second thought, look towards AndroidLost, I think you can install that without seeing the screen.
I am now familiar with kies how does it work?
If you can get into recovery, you could make a nandroid backup of your current setup, then restore data (I'd advise against system) onto the new phone, assuming it's still a Galaxy S4 (and it's not the Triband).
Alternatively, still do the nandroid but use an app such as Nandroid Explorer to get the pieces you need out of it.

Any possibility to break lock pattern?

Hello, my friend gave my a Samsung Galaxy J510fn, because she forgot her lock pattern. Phone is not stole or something, as you might think first I got a login and password for google account registered on this phone if that would help. Phone has been using by woman so there is no things like custom recovery, root or usb debbuging turned on and it has stock firmware. Normally I will factory reset this phone but she said that she don't want to lose anything, specially photos, videos etc. I tried to unlock this pattern by programs like dr.fone or backup data by Kies but none of these are seeing this phone :crying:
So is there any possibility for cracking this phone without losing any data?

Back in the day you were able to remove pattern if you knew the samsung account details. Not sure if thats a thing anymore...

But when we boot phone for the first time it's force us to create samsung account or we can skip that step? Because she said that she didn't mention of creating samsung account. Even tried to search her ID through email but can't find anything.

then wiping everything is the only choice i guess
You can backup files from recovery mode (should be able to do it in stock recovery) I think (maybe copy to PC). Then make a factory reset.
Recovery Mode - Vol+, Home and Power buttons
Download Mode - Vol- , Home and Power buttons
And 2nd option. If you can, go to Download Mode and flash her TWRP! Make Nandroid backup there and then make factory reset. Flash TWRP via Odin of course.
But you must read how to enable USB Debugging if it is needed, I forgot how to

You can go to Google Find My Device and change something from there.

S10+ stuck in bootloop

Hello everyone,
My old S10+ suddenly shut down and entered a bootloop. The last things I did were the following:
copied some data from my old to my new phone
Switched my SIM-card to my new phone
watched some Youtube in my browser (since stock had some issues)
Then, out of nowhere, my android system turned off. Since then it is stuck in a bootloop.
I can still access Android Recovery and download mode. I tried re-flashing stock firmware, but I get the error that the Android firmware seems to be corrupt.
My question is: How can I get my phone to work again without losing my data?
There is still some important data left on my old phone. My 2FA app for instance. So I would rather go to a repair shop and pay instead of losing said data.
But before I do that I wanted to get some advice what else I may be able to do. I haven't tried sideloading an OTA since I don't quiet understand it and want to be on the safe side. persist.safemode.sys does not seem to exist. And I read about perhaps backing up my "emmc" with TWRP but, again, I don't quiet grasp the concept yet.
I have some experience with adb, ROMs and flashing. The latest recovery-logs are attached, if they are of any help
Well, repair shop went and formatted everything
Even though I asked them not to
Let this be a lesson for everyone: If you care about your data, back it up AND don't bring it to a repair shop

In the future use a SD card* as a data drive. All critical data goes there. Do Not encrypt it.
Had you done that you probably be ok. Always backup redundantly and regularly to at least 2 hdds that are physically and electronically isolated from each other and the PC.
*A V30 rated Sandisk Extreme is a good choice
