Google Backup/Restore question

Anyone know if this is device specific or google account specific? I have quite a few Android devices and I still cant figure out if it syncs all my devices (apps and settings) into one big lump of data or if its keyed of the device id.
Good question. Seems like it just does what it wants.
I think the first time you register the device, it downloads as many apps as it can. But when you reset or wipe the device, it still keeps the id and downloads the apps you used to have.

Help backing up and restoring app settings

Question,
I changed phones and smart switch from my old note 4 to this new one did not transfer my settings for a few apps (Philips Hue lampshade, etc).
Is there a way I can back these up or transfer them on my non rooted note 4 to this one?
Thank
You can utilize Android Backup Service to go down data associated with one or a greater amount of your Google accounts. On the off chance that you needed to supplant your gadget or eradicate its data, you can restore your data utilizing any record that you moved down. In case you're utilizing a tablet with various clients, just the tablet's proprietor can see the backup and reset alternatives. Transfer apps & data from Nexus 10 to Galaxy Tab S2?

I've just bought Galaxy Tab S2 to replace my Nexus 10, and want to migrate all of the apps and data from the Nexus 10. I'm aware of the option to sync everything via my Google account, but presumably that would pull down everything that I have on my phone as well, which I don't want - i.e. I only want to migrate the specific subset of apps/data that I have on the Nexus 10.
Is there any way of doing this?

Skipped copy from old phone on setup, now can't get it any more

Hi!
I had lots of trouble with my S7edge and did lots of flashing and resetting. At some point on 6.0.1 after factory reset I went quickly through the initial screens and was very surprised to get at some point a long list of accounts offered that I could transfer to this phone (they are not showing in my Google account now, it was Yahoo and such things). Those accounts were from an older Galaxy on the same account. I skipped that and wanted to use it later.
Now I updated to 8.0.0 and even on inital setup such a screen or offer never showed.
Any idea where I could find this? The strange thing is that I had Google cloud copies disabled wherever I could but assumed to have surely missed to deactivate sometime somewhere. Since the phone was totally wiped multiple times this data can only have come from the one Google account I used. But if I go to e.g. restore contacts it is empty as expected.
Where did Google/the phone find this rather exhaustive list of accounts from my other phone?
Google backups can only be restored on setup. So you have to factory reset to get those options again.

Oh wow - another fail there. The thing is I did not notice that option on the last reset after installing an Oreo system. Any reason why it wasn't offered? I think I removed the google account before upgrade and did the initial setup with signing up so as to not run into more trouble with FRP. So I guess not signing in with a google account in the setup screens - but hitting skip - will cancel any chance of restoring?

If you factory reset again, since there's no Google account on the phone if I understand you correctly, it will ask you again on setup. Don't you have other backups?

It's not about backups, I just wondered why it offered me restore in the first place despite me thinking all cloud backup was disabled. But then when I actually wanted to try and see what is backed up I can't without resetting the phone again. And I'm even doubtful it will ask again as it did not ask after the last ROM upgrade.

Samsung Dex for second android user

Hi,
I don't know if anyone had similar issue.
I bought Tab s5e recently, configured everything in my account, and then created second account (normal one, not the restricted )
In result I got two accounts : mine (administrator) and my wifes (normal user )
Issue is that while I can launch DeX on my account without any problems, on my wifes account DeX is unavailable. The option in settings (Settings > Advanced ) is just grayed out .
Is there a way to trigger it manually , make second account an admin or something ?
Best Regards
Did you manage to solve this? I am having the exact same issue
Not currently supported, to the best of my knowledge, on a consumer level.
Wow! How often do you google a problem and find someone with the exact same tablet model?! Unfortunately, I have nothing of value to add. Same tablet, same issue, and the same wife asking me HOW I could not have googled this BEFORE I bought the tablet XP
I have the same exact issue. Wish there was a work around or a way for the secondary user to be allowed to use Dex on the Tab S5e. It is like a tease that it shows it but doesn't allow you to use it.
Same here on tab s5. But its not stated anywhere. I am extremely pissed off.
