Greetings folks,
Just wondered if you could assist in identifying what model of M10 Plus I have? As all the info scattered around various websites don't seem to show clear results, such as Amazon, GSMArena and various other sources.
Some say the 2nd Gen has a much bigger battery, such as 7000mah, others are saying this still isn't true and only applies to the Chinese version of this device.
What are the main differences between 1st Gen and 2nd Gen of this device, please...??
The model we have is: TB-X606F 2GB RAM & 32GB Storage. It claims it has 5100mah battery....? Is this true of the 2nd Gen, and is this better than the 1st Gen ?
How easy is it to root this device, and does it break anything, like Warranty or OTA updates?
Cheers, Lister
Hi All,
I am assuming I do have the Gen2, but who knows...?? lol
If I was to OEM Unlock within Android OS, then Unlock Bootloader via ADB, then flash TWRP...
Once I have done all this, will the Tablet still get/pickup OTA updates, such as OS updates or Security Patches. Or once you trigger the Bootloader, you break the official status. If this is the case, would re-locking the Bootloader make it official again, or is OTA broken permanently then?
Cheers, Lister

Hi everyone,
I have the Moto G4 xt1625 Amazon Prime variation. Nevertheless, I took the regular steps to receive the unlock code on Motorola Website and they simply sent it to me. No idea if the fact that I live outside US and / or that my carrier is, obviously, from outside US had anything to do with it or if I was just lucky. I got the code, but I still never used it, which means I have the stock 6.0.1 android.
Now on to my questions:
1-My build number is MPJ24.139-64. What does that really means? I see people discussing this everywhere, some are 65. What difference does each build have?
2-I never heard of Firmware when speaking of mobiles. I always heard/changed the OS, but now you guys are changing firmware and OS. How do I know which firmware I have? How do I get the latest one?
3-Since I have the unlock code for the boot loader, does it virtually means I have a regular xt1625 Moto G4? I mean, as of now I still have the adds, but should I opt to unlock the boot loader and say flash CM 14.1 it would be the same as non Prime xt1625 or does the Prime version have other differences (build, firmware, etc)?
4-Can Moto G4 use the same ROMs as Moto G4 Plus? I've seen different answers regarding this matter. Would I have to flash base bands and/or soak test?
5-Is CM 14.1 (cm-14.1-20161225-NIGHTLY-athene.zip) the latest AOSP ROM for Moto G4?
Thank you in advance for your help and time! =]
Andre
Anyone? ^^
Maybe i can help you
1- This is like the version of firmware, or OS if you want to call like this way, (correct me if i am wrong)
2- Firware and OS are the same, i guess. Better call it ROM
3- Yes, the same. But i have the prime version locked so i cant tell you with 100% of security
4- Yes and no. the board is the same thing, you can install it but maybe you have problems like heat (not so much, of course)(because moto g+ have the cores boosted to 100%, and moto g non plus have 4 to 100% and 4 energy saver cores.)
5- NIGHTLY is a buggy software, this is not the software 100% tested. Maybe you have to wait a SNAPSHOT. This is more secure
Sorry for my English. I speak spanish better <3s
Thank you!!
What about the Indian 7.0 ROM? Can we install it without problems?

If you have unlocked the bootloader of course! Yes!
But maybe you want to make a backup of everything before!
I will recommend to you wait until the official software for your smartpone arrive..
For some reason Motorola has not released it, maybe the Indian 7.0 is buggy and they are just testing with india...
But you can try without problems!
PD: Remember when i said without problems, Problems may appear like overheating, WiFi problems, etc etc. But you can have a taste of nougat! Just search a little, i know people who have Nougat in theirs XT1625, and is working "well" (overheating againg)
try this

Hi,
I'm not a newbie here, but I think I can help u with some info since I have the same amz prime unlocked bootloader
Now on to my questions:
1-My build number is MPJ24.139-64. What does that really means? I see people discussing this everywhere, some are 65. What difference does each build have?
This is the latest build, that it's available for this phone version, this FW is the one that I had before I moved to RR.
2-I never heard of Firmware when speaking of mobiles. I always heard/changed the OS, but now you guys are changing firmware and OS. How do I know which firmware I have? How do I get the latest one?
FW es the specific version of a OS, the one that's meant to be on your phone
3-Since I have the unlock code for the boot loader, does it virtually means I have a regular xt1625 Moto G4? I mean, as of now I still have the adds, but should I opt to unlock the boot loader and say flash CM 14.1 it would be the same as non Prime xt1625 or does the Prime version have other differences (build, firmware, etc)?
Unlocking the bootloader means that it can support non official software, a custom recovery and after that you can root it, install a custom rom or mostly anything that you can think. But it still an specific branch oh the moto g4 the prime edition. So you can install Nougat from a TWRP, but not directly as an update or any other procedure
4-Can Moto G4 use the same ROMs as Moto G4 Plus? I've seen different answers regarding this matter. Would I have to flash base bands and/or soak test?
The moto G4 plus uses the same Hardware, custom roms can be used in any of those, not official roms
5-Is CM 14.1 (cm-14.1-20161225-NIGHTLY-athene.zip) the latest AOSP ROM for Moto G4?
CM is now gone, the new version of it would be Lineage OS, I personally use Resurrection Remix as my daily driver, it has TONS of customizations and it tells you whenever an update it's available.
Be carefeul with installing anything on your phone just have always a recovery back up in the micro sd and on a usb o pc available in case anything went wrong.
Hope this could help
Pardon my english.

Thank you for this! Also very helpful!
Moto G is an Android smartphone developed and manufactured by Motorola Mobility. It was released on 13 November 2013, and it was initially aimed at emerging markets, although it is also available in developed markets as a low-price option. After six months on the market, the Moto G became Motorola's best-selling smartphone ever, and was the top selling phone in Mexico and Brazil.
Later on, Android 5.1 update was announced for Moto G, but Motorola disappointed the users by not updating the device to Android 5.1.1.
Moto G performed best on Android Kitkat (4.4.4), but users were excited to see Android Lollipop on their device. However, when Android Lollipop arrived on their devices they were not happy because :
i) the update came with performance issues such as lags and battery/memory leaks;
(ii) moreover, Android 5.1.1, which was supposed to be a fix to these issues, was not going to be available for this device.
So many of the users decided to downgrade it to Android 4.4.4. But unfortunately, after successfully flashing Android 4.4.4, the automatic OTA updates, hard bricked most of the devices which were downgraded. The devices looked dead and were only recognized by PC as "qhsusb_bulk".
Almost every user tried hands on the device to recover it, even I did but I was unsuccessful like others as there was no fastboot file available for this device because Motorola didn't release any.
I also consulted XDA forums but I was disappointed. There were methods available on internet which were useless. People started petitions asking Motorola to release the files but still no files were available.
I kept trying hands on the device to recover it and finally after 1 year, I successfully managed to recover my device, somehow, and it is working again, properly. Thanks to another XDA thread.
Here is the link to XDA thread which helped me recover my device : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/how-to-unbrick-moto-g-falcon-t3394788
If any of the Moto G user wants to recover his/her dead Moto G, he/she must visit the link given above.
I hope it will also work for you guys.

I made a bad update of the system, my Xt1032 was left as a brick, but with a tutorial that I followed, I managed to activate it in fasboot mode, but since there it only stays in "failed to initialize partition table" and does not allow me to install anything, is there any way To recover it, for there lei that in the xt1033 could do it with some file that you published, there is something similar for my model beforehand thank you very much (excuse if it is written badly or expressed some phrase, is that I only speak Spanish and I use translator for To write in English
I don't see many people on any of the Moto G4 fórums who have the Amazon G4 ads version. I know there are a few like myself, who were able to unlock the bootloader, before Amazon stopped it.
All info on updates communicated on these forum pertain to the retail version. I would have thought more people would have bought the Amazon discounted version.
It sucks that even with the bootloader unlocked, I cannot flash a retail version of the Stock ROM. Is anyone out there with the Amazon G4 versión?
Please let me know if you are and on what Android build your on? Anyone received the September security update? We're you one of the people who were able to unlock the bootloader?
I have one
I ran MM for a long time, but I just upgraded to the Sept Nougat release fine following the steps from the first post, followed by the second:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138
I might have been able to just do the second. FWIW, I didn't relock and I did pull out the gpt and bootloader.img lines from the upgrade script.

It's your Moto G4 the Amazon ads version? I am on the June security update NPJ25-93-14.5. I was checking if anyone on the Amazon update channel got the September security update.
Also, I wanted to know if anyone was able to convert the Moto G4 from Amazon to Retail.
I have a xt1625 Amazon Prime ads g4. My phone is bootloader unlocked, rooted, and on Npj25-93-14.4 with the bootloader from retail 93-14-8 from my last attempt to change it from a amz to retus. I haven't yet found a way to use the stock retus rom on the phone, after many attempt and several bricks.

To the prior question, yes mine is an ad-supported XT1625. I unlocked it like day 2 before they stopped supporting it. I ran rooted and ad-free for about a year, then the micro-usb failed and I had to send it in for warranty repair. Moto was nice enough to take it a week after expiration and they sent a replacement - another ad-supported XT1625. That was a few months ago. Sorry I can't confirm how I got the new phone bootloader unlocked, but it is. Software channel shows retus, and I'm running the roms I linked. I do recall seriously bricking it at one point, but I do think if you're bootloader unlocked there is a way to get to retus. Again, sorry I can't recall the journey.

By just flashing a retus bootloader you changed the channel to retus? Even with it being retus, you can't flash retus firmware on it?
Anyone with any knowledge on converting the Amazon Prime unlocked bootloader phone from AMZ update channel to retail RETUS?
If the bootloader has been unlock on an Amazon Ads phone, Why can't a retail version be flashed? It's the same firmware that the Retail XT1625 has. Even if the software channel stays AMZ, the retail firmware should work.

Hello,
I've just bought a second-hand moto G5 Plus that had a custom rom installed on it, I'm guessing it was also rooted at some point. It currently has the Aug 1 2018 version of 8.1:
build #: OPS28.85-13
It's been a while since I've messed about with flashing phones, so I wanted to ask for some assistance before potentially bricking the poor thing.
Ideally, I'd like to get it back on the stock update channel, so it can get OTA updates, but with root -- if that's not possible, I'd be almost as happy to just flash a Sept 1 2018 build (which my other 100% stock G5 plus already has) and root it. I've looked at a few posts here, notably this one:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5...o-twrp-flashable-stock-builds-coming-t3830482
Though not knowing the exact history of the device, I'm reluctant to just follow the instructions. Can anyone provide some insight as to the safe(st) procedure?
Thanks!
-pir
You can't have root and receive updates from official channel at the same time.. the bootloader need to be locked to recieve updates.. you can however flash twrp on the device.. flash the stock rom( you will find latest in the forums).. and when the updates come out someone will capture it and make a flashabe zip, so you just need to flash that.. you can have root that way and stay updated.. cause from what I've read so far you don't get OTA when you're bootloader is unlocked..
That makes sense. So I guess the moto software won't even attempt an update if the bootloader is unlocked? Thanks!
Unlocked bootloader won't make any difference. The OTA update checks the system files and bootloader. If you have made any modifications to the system, kernel, or are running an older bootloader version the update will fail. Lock status of the bootloader makes no difference.

I have a firestick 2nd Gen software version 5x but it won't update
It checks for updates but won't update. Even spoken to Amazon and theyve said it requires a number of updates but they didn't know what to suggest.
I've factory reset the device a number of times and hasn't helped.
Is there any way to manually update it.
I want it to run v6x or7 if possible so that I can run the latest wolf launcher and launcher manager.
TIA

You wont get a 2nd generation to update to fireos 6 or 7 via OTA (over the air updates) .
You can however update the firmware if you unlock the bootloader install twrp and flash the latest prerooted firmware of your choice .
Unless amazon are willing to send you a replacement it is the only way to successfully bring your OS upto date im afraid .

Has anyone done this and can speak to performance?
I have a 1st gen fire tv (not stick) and wondering if it's useful to update and then possibly debloat. Or if this would ultimately be a lot of work for having bad performance in the end.
/edit
Sorry for hijacking this thread, came to the forums looking for something else. Saw the thread, had the thought and just asked. I've tried to read up on rooting and it seems my old firetv (fully upgraded to 5.2.7.4) isn't rootable without soldering so it seems I won't be updating anyway.

Yes i have done this with several sticks and the update works perfectly, i had a stick stuck on version 5.2.6.8 and successfully flashed 5.2.7.2 r1 then 5.2.7.3 . I cannot say the same for montoya 1st geneartion as it would need to be on one of the very lowest firmwares for this to work .

They won't send me a replacement I've spoken to them already about it as its out of warranty.
Would you recommend rooting it etc?
Is it worth the headache?
I've rooted phones before but never a firestick

Can you share a tutorial please
@bartjunited
Follow this unlock process here :
[UNLOCK][ROOT][TWRP][UNBRICK] Fire TV Stick 2nd gen (tank)
Read this whole guide before starting. This is for the 2nd gen Fire TV Stick (tank) Current relase: amonet-tank-v1.2.2.zip NOTE: Recent reports indicate a change that disables brom DL-mode The change seems to have been introduced with devices...
forum.xda-developers.com
For firestick 2nd generation
Then download and install via twrp a prerooted rom from here :
Fire TV Stick 2 (tank) Prerooted Stock Images [5.2.7.3_r1]
As usual, this WILL void your warranty and I am NOT responsible for anything you do with this. Installing it properly won't brick your Fire TV, but doing stupid things with it might. First, you must be unlocked. You can follow the instructions...
forum.xda-developers.com
The guides on each of these posts will demonstrate in an infomative way how to upgrade youre firnware on 2nd gen "tank"(5.2.7.3 is current version of prerooted ).
If you need any help just ask and someone will be happy to help
