So I have a china mode IN2020 that was working great.
I am in the US.
After One Plus sent down an upgrade to Andriod 11 I started had issues with the phone.
The text messages took forever to load and trying to send them was a waste of time. I changed the text message program and solved that issue.
Then the phone starts doing weird things, I would go to dial and it would just right back to the phone screen, programs crashed, etc.
The last problem was the phone now is useless the speaker (does not matter if I use the speakerphone, earpiece or Bluetooth) Is DEAD during a call. the person on the other end of the call hears me fine but, I hear nothing.
One plus says it is because of the motherboard not working with the US upgrade.
They want to charge me $350 to replace it with a US version.
I have since flashed it back to Andriod 10 and again it works perfectly.
I have also tried TWRP to flash to a custom ROM but the phone will NOT flash.
I get errors like wrong Andriod version or a check sum error occured.
Any help or suggestions...
thanks!!
If / when you upgrade to 11 I would highly recommend a factory wipe afterwards..
Jumping between bases causes issues and a wipe fixes them, at least in my case.
It's like jumping between ROMs, always best to have a fresh start.. 10-11 isn't any different, it's possible a mod may have caused it.
So if you had viper running on 10 then you updated to 11 and didn't disable it it could have borked it, or there could have been left over remnants of it left behind..
Again a wipe would help here
I was/am running stock ROM.
and thanks but I did do a factory reset.

How did you update the phone? Via system?
Grab oxygen updater and get it from there.
No reason why it shouldn't work
the phone updated automatically (via One Plus)
but after that did not work i downgraded it to 10 and then tried it again with the same result.
My understanding is the phone has a different motherboard, it is an IN2020.
They say it runs a different os...

The board strictly speaking shouldn't mean you don't get audio? That's just wrong..
Personally I haven't used the Chinese version of the 1+8pro but if an update is available then it should accept it correctly.
I agree, BUT they told me to send it it for a repair and if they replace the motherboard it will cost me $350.When i said the update should work no matter where i am the answer i received was if you are in the US and get that update it can cause issues.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the update itself, I highly doubt it, but you can try downloading the update from Oxygen Updater and install it again, make sure you factory reset right after finishing.
If it doesn't work, then I think it might be something with your hardware, couldn't be something else I suppose
Ys I did that also and same result.
It this phone goes to Andriod 11 it has the speaker issue, No matter how it gets there..

They're wrong, just putting that out there.
So what are you meant to do?
Are they suggesting if you were in the devices homeland then it would work?
If so just use a VPN, install it and prove them wrong because they're chatting bubbles.
They ought to just fix it.
I already had this "fight with them"
got this today
Greeting from OnePlus.
This email is regarding your repair request RMA# OP202012290204583075 for OnePlus 8 Pro.
I see that you have created a repair request for the OnePlus 8 Pro device due to the earphone malfunction. We certainly understand the need and importance of having the device working in an optimal condition. We are here to assist you.
We would like to keep you informed that we will be able to repair all components apart from the motherboard. After inspection, if we find it to be an issue with the motherboard we will be unable to proceed further with the repair as it is a Chinese version and due to region difference and unavailability of the motherboard, the device will be sent back without repair.
Also, we are glad to inform you that we have approved your repair request. If you would like to continue with the above repair options you can follow the shipping instructions and send the device for repair. If not, you can revert us so that we can get the repair request canceled.
this is BS!!!

Tbh pal they wouldn't have Chinese boards there.
I honestly cannot see them doing any ad-hoc soldering, so if taking it apart and putting it back together doesn't fix it or changing the earpiece and speaker modules then they'll send it back.
Give it a shot there not much you can do.
How come you bought a Chinese version? Cost?
I'm not going to send it in because it is a motherboard component issue that happened only with Andriod 11, so why waste my time and be without a phone.
I honestly got it as a gift and did not know it was the in2020.

I got my blackstone yesterday. Excitedly opened it up, fiddled with it a while, and flashed a new rom. It was a while before i realised that the phone woudlnt vibrate. Im pretty sure its a hardware fault, but just wanted to check here to make sure I havent missed something.
The phone wont vibrate, even when being called / txted with vibrate mode on. I also understand the hardware buttons are sposed to have some kind of haptic feedback or minivibrate, but this doesent work either.
I searched through all the settings, and couldnt find any magical turn on vibrate feature buttton. Vibrate notification is definately turned on, and so is the vibrate profile. I inittialy installed Panoshas Black Pearl rom. I tried a hard reset, and then also flashed the Dutty rom, and finally the original rom to see if it that worked.
Can anyone point out an obvious mistake ive made? Or am I gonna have to send my lovely blackstone back?
Thnx in advance.
Hmmm...you've already tried flashing a new rom and if you still have the same problem, send it in. It's still spanking new, shouldn't be a problem getting it rectified....or better yet ....replaced!
Was it vibrating when you recieve it, on it's original ROM ?

thnx for your response, i think ill probably do that.
its pretty annoying to have to send it back already lol, but its worth it to have a working vibrate.
A Second Opinion
Yep, I got my Blackstone a week ago today and it vibrated just fine out the box. I have not flashed any new ROMs, but I have installed plenty of programs including .net 3.5 and mobilmagic button stuff and hd tweak, installed and uninstalled advanced config and a few keyboards, the list goes on. Long story short, my vibrate doesn't work either! I think this is due to my tampering with it though, I really do. Also, I saw another post where someone had the same problem, he ended up getting his to work after playing with .net 3.5, hard resetting more than once and soft resetting too. So try that, let me know what you find out! I plan to hard reset and flash new ROMs soon, so I figured maybe these problems would go away then. Oh and, anybody else have a problem where their end key doesn't end the call, ? This is such a tinkerer's toy, lol!
Probably a good warning about flashing ROMs! Did you backup your original ROM? I think you will need to restore your original ROM before you send it back for "repair". (Otherwise it is likely you will be charged for any work/replacement - justifiably!)
Before you despair, what ROM did you flash it with? Have you contacted the developer about it? It may be a setting in a tweak you don't know you've installed. Have you tried playing Tweeter (the vibration feedback when the ball collides with a wall will indicate a working/non-working vibrator).
Rather than just offer bad news to you and tell you it's your own fault, here is a helpful tut on How to backup ROM, albeit a little late maybe. It may not be all doom and gloom - some kind soul may be able to offer you their backup ROM (particular to your mobile provider) which you can use to restore it to factory default before testing for the vibrate and/or sending it back for a fix. Who is your provider and what original ROM do you need?

thanks for the tip. i fiddled with .net framework 3.5 and more hard resets, and altho i have installed hdtweak and advconfig a couple times, ive done multiple clean flashes without them and it still dont work. in fact - as i said above, im 90% sure it never did work, so im convinced its a hardware fault.
i hope yours wroks after a rom flash, but i think mine is gonna have to go back...

yeah - i definately played tweeter even before flashing any roms, and there was no vibrate - so i guess that proves it really is the hardware.
i bought my phone from mobilephonesdirect, but have my rom backed up, so should be ok.
ta for the offer tho.
Mine was the opposite, it wouldn't stop vibrating, even when switched off.
You had to take the battery out to get it to stop.

I appreciate that
yes I would love for you to keep me updated, I purchased mine through ebay from addictedtophones.com, which is out of California. They seemed like nice people but they sure aren't wanting to help my broken vibrate after only 8 days! That is just sad my friend. I have also contacted UK and US support and HTC global repair service. They have indicated that they are looking in to it. Apparently the US section may not have the resources to work on the device. I requested that they replace the phone, if they couldn't work on it ASAP, the person seemed to agree and put the request forward. I hope that helps your situation. I spent too much for a broken stone!

I received my new replacement Touch HD in the mail a little bit ago, it vibrates. It must have been a hardware issue best I can tell. I just about had to send it off to HTC, but I finally got the retailer to replace it. It actually took a lot of crap just to get HTC USA GLOBAL repair center to want to accept the idea but, I called UK HTC and they called HQ in Taiwan or somewhere and got something done. So if you need some help, Ive got a few contacts that can help, anyone can just let me know. I hope this doesn't become a widespread infection.

I'd say it's probably a hardware issue. My first HD also didn't vibrate, and had to exchange for a new one. Probably some issues with one of the batches.

Had the same problem...now we're at least two with this prob. Still waiting for the replacement...
My Asus TF300T has been starting to act up lately. When I access the settings menu faint grey lines start to appear which run across the screen. When I change to portrait the lines disappear for a split-second and then reappear black. When accessing Google Play I see the same thing. The power menu and other menus appear to have a pixelated background and are 'blocky'. It also happens in the ASUS File Manager on the white background (faint lines).
I am confused as to what's causing them. It appears to me to be a graphics-related issue as I have taken screenshots and viewed them on my computer and they appear pixelated on the TF300T but not on my computer. I have cold booted and performed a full factory reset. I have also switched to Safe Mode with no change (lines still appearing). I am using the Jelly Bean 4.2 launcher and am stock. The tablet hasn't been dropped and has been protected. It's only 4 months old and I bought it from Argos in the UK.
It's a shame because I like this tablet
Thanks.

If it were mine I would use App Backup. Be sure to check apps and data and when presented check copy to external sdcard.
Download stock firmware 4.2(10.6.1.8), unzip once and place on internal sdcard. If you don't receive the update notice in three minutes reboot tablet and wait another three. When you get the update notice accept and wait for completion as usual.
Good Luck!
Note: This should help decide whether it is hardware or software.

You can rename it US_epad-user-10.4.4.20 or what ever that previous version of firmware was pretty sure it was that. When update comes up it will say if want to downgrade and accept but it will just reinstall you're current version. Now not sure if your unlocked as when i did this for a random reboot issue i was unlocked but worked for me and acts just like an update everything else should be the same but do backups just to be safe.
Correction thats US_epad-epad-user-10.4.2.20 and us as doesnt have to be that if WW then use that or etc. Hope that works
And as for unlocking may not want to do that as it will void warranty if need to send it in but sure everyone know that.

Exactly what are you trying to do. All you have to do is raname the latest update zip after download and unzipping once from the 10.6.1.8.zip or cant remember exactly but what ever it is to WW_epad-user-10.4.2.20.zip
That the way most use and seems to work. No need to replace the blob file or etc just renaming the latest update zip to that should work and after maybe sometime either rebooting or waiting couple mins for it to show up in notfication bar. Replaceing the file inside the update zip its self may affect the signature or etc and may not work even if option does come up. Another way after placing on root of sdcard or internal storage which is what i do is just remove and replace the sdcard should pop up right away.
Yea just placing the blob file into a zip folder and naming it that wouldnt work as it checks for signatures atleast unless unlocked but not totally sure on that. Try what i had stated if your trying to downgrade take the 4.1.1 update file and name it WW_epad-user-10.4.2.20.zip or just rename the latest update zip to that works every time for me.
Tell you the truth it does sound more like a hardware problem just reflashing the update is a way to be sure. I'd more in the way of thinking of sending it in for service in your case atleast if you still have warranty i would. I've been through 2 seperat device still get random reboot with this new update tried reflashing couple times etc fixes temporarly but seems to come back almost considering sending to asus my self at this point since have warranty. Usually the best bet.

Well like said atleast you know now sucks i didn't fix it but didn't sound like it would. Was worth a try. Hope the new one turns up no problems should i was ok after.
Just before I return it to the store tomorrow I am still questioning the cause of the problem. The strange thing is that it doesn't appear on everything. Just on some gradients and backgrounds. Also, Google Now force closes and so does Email. I downgraded but my data was left intact, so I reset the device but the problem still persists.
Just a last final try before it goes back

Tell you the truth I'm not totally sure what the issue can be. It could be a number of thing but in the case of my old tf300 before i exchanged I had what looked like a finger print under the screen. Just sort of a smudge about the size of an eraser head. On black screens where screen was on like as when it starts up or loading an app it would show but since it was light colored It wouldn't show on most others. Not sure if that's the case for you but when I sent it back to Newegg they determined it was a problem with the lcd screen, maybe dead pixels they said.
In your case if you have option to just go to store I'd just do that and save your self the trouble. If other wise bought it online then maybe worth trying to figure out because also in my case Newegg took about a week of testing it before approving the exchange also I should mention there couple other problems with it. Not sure what else you can try if you had already downgraded which in most cases erases everything not sure whynit didn't for you I'm not sure what else to do. One other thing is to try ,aybe holding down the reset butoon on left side of tablet in the hole under the volume buttons. I posted a link earlier on lcd and pcb problem thread maybe you can try to ask some one there, they probably would know more most of them are fermiliar with hardware issues so might be able to tell you if it is or not but as i said might just he easier returning it and start fresh. Good luck and sorry I can't help more.
Just in case theres the harware issues thread again.

I tried the reset hole but the paper clip just goes straight in?
I've just downgraded to 4.1 and the lines disappeared. I then downloaded an OTA for Android 4.2 for the lines to then reappear.
I am about to downgrade again the then download the 4.2 firmware file instead of downloading the update OTA (in case the update file is corrupted).

You might try hitting it with some circuit cooler (with the cover removed of course) to see if its heat related - an upside down can of liquid air would do it. Problem is, if it is heat related, you need to provide better heat sinking, which likely means ripping your warranty sticker to get access to the IC's underneath the copper heat sink in attempt to provide better heat dissipation with thermal compound or something.
Reseating the video connector to see if its a bad connection is another viable option without creating evidence of tampering and potentially voiding warranty.
Hope this helps.
My phone is bootlooping and I can't access recovery. I can't restore the phone's stock software because I edited build.prop and it's not showing up as a Verizon phone. I decided to bite the bullet and just pay LG to reset it. However, when I contacted them to do this they told me I need to mail the phone in and they will tell me how much it costs after their tech looks at it. I'm worried if I do this that they'll charge me an exorbitant amount to fix it... Does anyone have any idea how much they usually charge to do this?
Sending the phone off to LG should be your last resort. It sounds like you've not tried everything!
Send it in to warranty. As long as there's no physical damage Verizon isn't going to give a rats a$$

Well, in another thread a Sprint tech said that LG did not give them a method to flash the stock software if the model check failed. I assumed this was the case for Verizon as well. I'll call them tomorrow and ask, I may have misunderstood what he wrote. I can't seem to find his post now. I'll update this post after work tomorrow if they can recover the phone.
theoneofgod, what is it that you think I haven't tried yet? If you have a suggestion which would save me the trouble of sending this phone in I would be super happy. To recap, here's what I've tried:
1. Using hard keys to factory reset (on TWRP 2.6.3.1 so it actually factory resets instead of booting into recovery)
2. Hitting "adb reboot recovery" over and over as TWRP loads and performs factory reset (this worked for people on 2.6.3.1 on AT&T but doesn't seem to be working on my Verizon phone for some reason. I've tried it dozens of times and even wrote a batch file which spams "adb reboot recovery" many, many times faster than I could type it)
3. Flashing the .tot file through download mode (Model check fails)
4. Flashing the .kdz file through download mode (Hangs at either 4% or 10% and asks me to restart. Never gets past 10%)
5. Entering my IMEI into the LG update tool, letting it download the software for the phone, and letting it try to flash the software (it fails)
What was the reason for bootloop? i also change my model name to make camera app show pics in menu, but it didn't help, and i returned to stock build.prop. So whats your story? Its good to know what i should NOT do with the phone.
Yea a good idea if you share what you've done so readers can be aware of it. Goodluck to your G2 pal and we're sorry for you..

Np don't mind sharing, thanks for the sympathy this definitely sucks aha. I usually add in qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to get rid of the software keys when I put a new ROM on. It worked the first time I did it on this phone, my best guess is that I mistyped something. I'm not 100% sure why this is making my phone not show up as a Verizon model during the model recovery check...someone more knowledgeable than me would have to explain that.
Melodycd, I think you should be fine doing that as long as you're careful. I was pretty careless and made a lot of mistakes to get in my position. As long as you don't do ALL of the following things you should be safe:
1. Not have the latest recovery
2. Not have USB debugging enabled
3. Mess up while editing a build.prop file so you bootloop
It doesn't matter what they can or can't do with the phone. They don't care what you did to it as long as it's not physically damaged or have water damage. Software issues can be fixed. If they couldn't flash new software they wouldn't have CLN devices to send out for warranty.
I've sent in several dozen phones that I left rooted (for legitimate defect concerns) and none were charged back. They don't need to know what happened to the phone when you call all they need to know is its not working and to send you out a device. They'll receive yours, flash it or send it back to LG to flash, then send it out to someone else as a warranty device.

I'm just sharing my experience. Over the past 5 years I've been rooting and returning. I can't guarantee anything but i can tell you my experiences and what I've been told by vzw people I know.
I had my g2 repaired when it was rooted. My camera wasn't working atall would just show up black when i opened the app. I sent it in rooted w CWM recovery as i stupidly forgot to remove it. And i had a replacement within 5 days no questions asked.
Not sure if this is because i am in UK or not, but they didn't blink an eye.

Yep I was just worried because the Verizon phone explicitly states that it is rooted. Just to follow up for those who are on Verizon and are stuck bootlooping and with no way to flash the stock ROM, what 06stang said held true for me (so far). The Verizon rep on the phone couldn't help me (she said she needed me to put my SIM card in my G2 when I was calling her from my old phone) so I took it to a Verizon store. The dude checked it for physical damage, tried to turn it on, and when he saw it bootloop he put in an order to get me a replacement phone. I'll report back in a week or two after I send in my rooted phone and let people know what happens, it seems like they won't charge me as of right now though.
Hello everyone! So my problem aroused a few days ago when I noticed my phone would randomly reboot and get stuck on the boot screen. I would have to mess around and finally only to get a few minutes of usage. I had King Rom installed which I believe was the issue. Fortunately, while trying to use Odin to recovery to stock, it shuts off in the middle of recovery mode. Now I am getting the screen that says: an error has occurred while updating the device software. please use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch pc software. I have been up all night trying to fix this with no results. I am so upset because I rely on my phone for my job as I am a delivery driver. I can't afford a new phone right now and I don't know what to do. It seems like I am pretty much SOL. I am hoping someone will be able to help me! Thanks so much
Somehow I was actually able to restore it to stock successfully in Odin. But before it will finish the initiation process it reboots over and over and the issue persists. Could there be another factor as to why this has happened?

Well, if you're unlucky it might as well be a hardware related failure.
If you look through XDA, there are more and more people having the boot loop problem right now (me included).
Especially after the latest December FW update.
I would try to do a emergency restore through SmartSwitch, then factory reset.
That's the last thing I tried, although it didn't help me in the end and now my mobile is back at Samsung for repair.
If it still bootloops after these steps I think you're out of luck and have to contact a Samsung repair center.

Well my phone is the International from Kenya and I'm not sure if Samsung will honor the warranty. I am able to get to the point where you add your Google account. From that point, it gets stuck at ''just a sec''. From that point, it starts to freeze. I guess somehow the phone is still messed up. Think I should try flashing it again?
Do you have TWRP or any custom recovery, does it freeze when your in that menu? Do you have an external SD inside?

No I do not anymore and it freezes when the firmware has loaded and it says optimizing apps. And yes I do have a an SD Card
Long shot... have you tired booting up the phone without the card in? It's really sounding like a hardware problem, maybe GPU if it gets triggered reliably...

So this time I actually retried Odin with stock restored from a different website. Then bypassed adding a google account. From that point, I no longer got to the ''just a sec'' screen. I was actually able to fully set up the device. I am assuming it will still have issues occasionally. We will see though. I am very lucky because I go to work in a few hours and would miss out on so much tips! Thanks everyone for your support! If the phone still has problems after a restore how do you get a hold of Samsung if its an International phone. Do you have to send it back to the country of origin?
Samsung may decide that you need to contact the country of origin, I know for example Sony stopped supporting international phones in their repair centers last year... While you have the phone up and running try to get some diagnostic info on why its happening.

you could get CPU-Z from the app store and take screenshots.
Although i dont thing that would help, just call the samsung support line and select to go to phones and explain whats happening. you wont have to send the phone back to the country of origin.

I agree you should call Samsung, However you might* still need to send it back to its Origin... It's totally up to Samsung's current policy on supporting international phones. Due to cost, a lot of repair centers really only keep parts/new phones for the ones locally available. However, It's also possible that they are able to contact their international warehouse for parts... So who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Keep us updated though, other users in your situation would love to know what happens!

Okay so now it is stuck in a bootloop even after restoring to Odin again. I will try to get a hold of Samsung to see what they say. If not, I paid for my phone with my Wells Fargo Credit card and they have insurance. May get a replacement through them if Samsung won't help
So I just called them and they said to go into my local Samsung store within Best Buy to have them reflash the firmware lol. Going to take it their now to see what happens. Wish me luck

Okay so to send it in to Samsung(No charge for software issue as they said) they want a receipt with the IMEI on it. I bought the phone from Amazon and their is no IMEI on the receipt.
Hello everyone,
I've been experience a very ugly issue with my S7 Edge.
SCENARIO 1: When the sensor works (meaning when I can see in the screen what the camera "sees") and I try to take a picture, the camera throws an error message saying "Unknown error occurred", and then the phone reboots:
SCENARIO 2: In other occasions, the camera starts with a complete black screen and immediately throws this error:
One of the two scenarios above always happen, which basically means I'm never able to take a picture.
What I've tried so far:
1) Upgrade from Marshmallow to Nougat.
2) Reset settings.
3) Full phone reset (cache + data).
4) Phone reset from recovery mode (cache + data).
5) The issue are present in safe mode as well.
6) I tried downloading other camera apps. Errors again.
7) Tried changing the storage location from SD to Device. Didn't work.
8) Video recording works!!!!!
Is it a hardware problem in your opinion? How can a software issue still stay after a hard reset? I'm not sure because in SCENARIO 1 I can see that the sensor works, plus video recording works!
Any help is greatly appreciated!
FIXED by using ODIN and flashing Nougat with the CSC file
Maybe try flashing full stock rom through odin or smart switch since there might be a problem to the system files itself.
In my opinion though, this seem like a hardware problem.

I also think it's a hardware problem. I'm just gonna send it back to Samsung.

I've been having the exact same issue for months now. On 6.0, 6.0.1 and 7.0 as well.
Please let me know what Samsung tells you. The problem for me is that I bought the phone from amazon (8 months ago) and live in Argentina.
One thing I can't understand is that camera worked fine for the first couple of months. Also find really strange the fact that I'm able to take pictures with flash ON. Have you tried it?

I tried some days ago with the flash ON, and it didn't work (if I remember correctly). I didn't waste too much time, and as soon as I found out about the issue I sent it to Samsung for repair.
I have it back since today afternoon, and what I read from the attached papers is that there was a malfunctioning piece which they replaced. The list of operations Samsung did is:
- Boardswaping
- Software update (I doubt about this one as my phone was already updated)
I really think you should contact Samsung directly, and not Amazon. Here in Europe they have a good repair program: after max. 3 business days you get your phone back (and they will do the pick-up, and delivery). Maybe it's the same in Argentina.
Good luck!

Do you know which board did they swap? The main board? :S
Argentina doens't handle international devices. I'd have to take the phone to de US .
I'll try to get it repaired here anyways.
