Yes we can only try and keep each other safe and happy in this time and that's all that's worth fighting for. :good::good:
https://www.xda-developers.com/viper4android-v2-7-new-ui-profile-management/
That link will give you a bit of information regarding the app.
It needs root so you will need to root the phone - but the good news is it does increase the sound greatly and is very flexible in its features Perfect for my music - under the master limiter option is a slider which increases the bluetooth headset volume
Make sure the bluetooth headphones are paired before
To set it up you need to
1, root device - any help needed with this, no problem
2, Make sure the bluetooth headphones and then install viper4android (v4a) apk attached in next post - it will ask you to accept root - hit "yes" and then install drivers - again hit yes
3, the phone will reboot - when it has booted disable bluetooth for now and start some music on the phone and open the app and go to settings
4, check "compatibility mode" and you should see the V notification pop up - go to main v4a screen
5, tap the small hash icon next to the settings icon and that will bring up a small window titled driver status - if "Neon Enabled", "Enabled" and "Processing" say "Yes" - v4a is processing normally in speaker mode and is fully functional.
6, You should now be able to reactivate bluetooth and play music with v4a fully working and just use the volume gain under "Master Limiter" to give the lil' chap the volume boost he deserves
I use another app called sound assistant (available on play and galaxy market - no root needed) with the v4a app - sound assistant has a graphic equaliser that i crank up on all channels for an extra music boost - this might also help.
Give me a shout if you need assistance.
One love!! :good:

If you download "Power Amp" there is a section in settings called audio. It lets you apply gain pretty easily. It also lets you apply gain without clipping. I think you will need the full version to do this though. PowerAmp.
Once you add the gain there is also a gain slider in the equalizer section. Along with dials to increase or decrease bass treble and loudness. It has album art (it will dl it for you) and some cool visualizations.
Viper is an excellent choice also but PowerAmp works withough root and is super easy to install. It may be the ticket it gets plenty loud. The UI is a little outdated but once you set it you can forget it.
If you need any help with it let me know I have been using it for years.

This is my first samsung. And I think i'm a bit spoiled as a nokia n900 user. But the recorded sound on my samsung galaxy is just horrible in comparison to my n900.
Last night I went to a show of cypress hill here in the Netherlands. And started recording. The video quality is super. Only the noise makes it almost impossible to distinguish any of the songs etc. I mean really horrible.
After some research i found out that users with the samsung omnia had this same issue, and they found a solution wich was adjusting some settings in the hidden menu of the phone.
Is it also possible to adjust these settings in the galaxy s i9000?
Below are the settings for the omnia hd reducing
with phonepad digit *#0002*28346#
then 3) Record
then 04) CamcordARM_AMR (this is volume gain in video record)
Go to
TxMicAmp : 24
digit 18#
and then when you go back will see
TxMicAmp : 25
Then go to
Tx Channel: 18
digit 18#
and then when you go back will see
Tx Channel: 18
To save all changes go back back
6)Backup and will show "Backup OK"
Yeah I noticed the heavy clipping (sounds like static, noise, distortion) in all of the Galaxy S recordings. I haven't really seen anyone else mention it.
However the Omina HD runs Windows Mobile does it not? Totally different OS there..
this should show that menu *#197238640#
Any luck with this? I have opened the service menu, but no idea what to do after that.
i also would like a fix for this!

I got the same problem when I try to run VOIP application. The noise is so terrible. I can enter "service mode", but I don't know how to setup them either.
Same here, video recording is quite useless like this... Went to a concert last evening and video is great but sound is ultimate crap! As in one big pile of noise.
But also when recording a video in the car, with just the radio on, is stretching it... It is at least possible to distinguish different sounds but already distorted.
Such a shame! Any fix for this would be great (and couldn't find much in the servicemode settings unfortunately).
I'm using the JM2 firmware and the sound of recorded videos is poor.
I wish we found the solution, as I had found on i8910
Meh, contacted samsung helpdesk (mail) and got a standard response
'We are currently developing a firmware update, please keep an eye out for it on the samsung website'. (translated from dutch ).
My guess is the firmware update won't fix a thing since it's still present in JM2 but we'll see.

At least there's a new firmware coming up, I think I'll give JP3 another shot and see if things have improved there.

that's a good tip
can more people confirm if this optimization works well?
if so, then we can put this as a sticky / FAQ / wiki
Disregard my post about Diamond solution, it's for headphones. I'm pretty sure some parts of the service menu => audio => handset could be tweaked to make audio recording better, just need someone who knows what means what.
There is a way to alter the recording volume during the recording however it requires adb shell and it only lasts for the duration of the remainder of the recording.

Also I found a quick and dirty workaround if you wanna record some music before some kind of fix appears - just put your finger on the mic hole while recording ^^
Morning all
Sooooooooooo , after putting some of my favorite music on my DHD last night, packed my Sony BIN headphones and set off this morning , only to discover the stock MP3 player is rubbish ! , no volume or anything.
Any suggestions which one is best to use ?
Thanks
Steve
My suggestion would be PlayerPro. After trying many, this has everything I ever wanted from a music player.
thank you for the quick response
That one costs money though
Any good free ones ?
DoubleTwist seems to be the best right now.
Tried , and its great thanks .....
Is there anything I can do to increase the volume ?
It seems so low , even at top media volume
Thanks
Steve
Most custom ROMs have volume enhancements on them, but if you don't want to go down that road and are already running a Gingerbread ROM, then try an app called Volume+ from the market. If you're on Froyo, there is DSP Manager but personally I don't recommend it.
DoubleTwist is a rather complete player. Try it out.
I'd suggest Double Twist or this https://market.android.com/details?id=org.abrantix.rockon.rockonnggl&feature=more_from_developer
Lovly ta
Yep, doubletwist is good, no question there. It's just that since I'm kind of a neat freak when it comes to folder structures with my music, I really appreciate the option to browse by folders; something most players seem to lack. I also liked the album wall display of playerpro, but of course as you said its not free.
Bought PlayerPro also. If you listen to music alot, its really worth it^^ Also theres an option that you can skip songs with volume buttons, thats a great feature in some situations.
Thats all great thanks , but the volume is still low , is there anyway I can increase the headphone volume of MP3's ?
Thanks
Steve

If you downloaded it from the Market and it's called 'Volume+' then you have the right one, but it only works on Gingerbread. When you run the app you have the options of applying volume gain to the speaker or headphone output, and you can also change the EQ. There's a Bass Enhancement option too, but I've never known it make any difference.
Give PowerAMP a shot if you want to browse by folder. There's a trial version on the market. Best player I've seen.

Oh ....... the one I downloaded was Volume Plus, not Volume +
I see its £0.99 , I know its not much but I havnt got a card to pay it with at the moment ..
Is there a free version anywhere ?
Thanks all
Steve
There's no free version unfortunately, but £0.99 is more than a fair price to pay for it if you can convince someone to lend you their card
Someone mentioned PowerAMP earlier. That app has an in built equalizer and some of the presets on that make the volume a bit louder, though if you're playing music for a long period of time then this will take a toll on battery life.

Wow thanks for the prompt reply dude. I agree Dsp isn't perfect, but it would help compared to stock, it's really awful imo.
So, in your experience has Viper improved the external speaker experience? I'm not so fussed with the 3.5, it's the external sounds that are bugging me.

I haven't used it for the external speaker (but it supports this, just as DSP Manager does), but I don't think you'll be disappointed if you were to try it.
FYI: I use the "Lock effect mode" to force my Bluetooth audio profile onto all audio outputs, works a charm.

Yes, you need root to complete the install. It goes something like this: install it like a normal APK, open it, it will ask for root privs, once granted, it will autoinstall the audio driver, and then all you need to do is restart. Job done!

Yeah, heres my profile I use: *lots* of bass via the Dynamic Subsystem module, EQ that brings out the highs, and the "Extreme Headphone V1" listening device.
The profile files go under your SD Card under the viper4android/profiles directory (if the folder doesn't exist, try saving a profile first to autocreate it)

Dude.....seriously?
Bass is driven by the amount of air the driver can push - Base is omni-directional (i.e.you feel it rather than hearing where it's coming from) so it doesn't really matter where you put your bass unit from a surround sound setup.
If you think the external speaker is going to give ANY sort of bass, you're seriously misguided, sorry!
If the frequency is too low then the unit just won't play it, that's why speakers have a frequency range.

Hello fellow XDAers, I was wanting to know if anyone knows where to get good quality .irs files for use with VIPER4Android? I have downloaded some from the internet, but don't see much change in the quality of the sound. Some do and some don't. If anyone has advice on where to find good quality .irs files and don't mind sharing please do so, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

If u tried some and u didn't notice a difference.. chances are it may not be processing .. did u check the driver status to see if it said yes of no on processing .. I know I have been using the default music player with v4a and it is flaky.. only sometimes randomly working .. I'm still looking for a good simple player that will work 100 percent with v4a..

I'm not saying that all of them don't work I downloaded a bunch. Some of them work and I can really tell a difference just not exactly the sound I'm looking for. But there are many that I cannot even hear the difference. I know the setup is good everything is processing and running as it should.
As for you I use Poweramp and I always have. It works really well with V4A. They have some really awesome themes to go with it. I do have the paid version though
.
?If someone helps you, plz thank them?
well I just recently discovered that after I installed v4a.. I went to the priv-app folder.. found the sound alive folder.. I removed it.. essentially forcing v4a to be used by default.. now if works flawlessly with the Samsung player ( which I kinda like) and Google music.. I assume by not giving Android an option on what dsp to use. it has to use viper. but I am an novice and mostly tinker ... break and fix things to learn ..lol

Hello, I've got a new Moto G4 for christmas and I'm really enjoying it, except for one thing => the equalizer :/
- (Android 6.0.1 - all available updates done - no Root) -
So here's what I already did :
Disable from "app" in settings the default "Audio Effects" then installing a new one => the new EQ says that I already have one EQ installed and don't work
If I do the same as before then restart, the new EQ work... but only for Spotify :/
reinstalling the new EQ without restarting don't do anything
[edit] The stock EQ don't work at all
I don't get why it won't work :s I really hope you can help me <3
Thanks for your time, *cough* sorry for the grammar if I made any errors *cough* and merry christmas =3
Hello, but what is the equalizer app name? the stock equalizer works?
Happy new year
Hi :3
I tried these two equalizers (the first ones when you look for "equalizer" on googe play)
Equalizer + Player Volume Boost
Equalizer
And right, I forgot to talk about this x) ... the stock equalizer don't work at all :c
(sorry, i'm new on the xda forums and I can't post links yet ^^' )

The stock works fine for me, by the way, i have tried the second, and works well, even appears the message of "disable audio effects", but works very well, i have disabled the audio effects, rebooted my phone, "enable auto preset detection" is turned off, tried with poweramp and google play music, whit headphones. But you don't notice any improve?
I just tried with Poweramp and your equalizer, while disabling the default one : the EQ spectrometer (or what it is called ) move, it detect the sound but when i choose a profile or anything, nothing change, the audio stay the same.
Maybe I should already think about doing a hard reset ? ^^'

But poweramp recognize the new eq app? no the stock, and have you tried with headphones? Because with the speaker there is not much difference between one and another profile, this is the link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.equalizer
Sorry, where do I see if poweramp recognize it ? :s
[edit] Btw, the Poweramp EQ works within the app ^^ and yes I use headphones.
[edit2] And the Moto G4 bass are nice *w*
I'm bumping this thread (yes, it's not allowed but, but... :c ), it's been one month and I didn't solve this problem :/
There's nothing new btw.
Thank you again, whoever can help me, have a nice day/evening :3
