Oneplus 8 Pro (IN2020) - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

I don't seem to have VOLTE anymore since upgrading from the 7 Pro and I believe its because the IN2020 (Global rom) is missing one of the 4G bands, does anyone know if flashing it to a UK rom would enable it or is this a hardware thing?

Chinese Version

Hey,
I'm thinking about buying the chinese version of the OPT because it's invite-free. My question, apart from fewer LTE bands and no dual-sim support outside of china, is it exactly the same hardware? Meaning, will it for example support the same ROMs that will run on the EU or NA version? Because, since I heard some people having trouble updating their chinese version OPT, I would not want to stick with Oxygen, but install a Custom ROM instead.
Its completely the same (apart LTE / Dual Sim).
A friend bought the chinese version and I flashed successfully oxygen OS. Also the custom kernels and CM 12.1 is no problem.
I'm using one now no problem just that it didn't come with a UK charger but no biggy
I'm also using the Chinese version here in Pakistan without any issue used the LTE without any hassle.
Sent from my ONE A2001 using Tapatalk
Its fine but i had to switch to ee and manually change to band 42

Unlocking LTE band 20 in chinese version

As far as I know, there are 3 versions of the Axon 7:
A2017 (Chinese Version)
A2017U (US / North American Version)
A2017G (Global / European Version)
Only A2017G has LTE band 20 which is very important here in Europe.
Unfortunately the more powerful hardware with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB Flash is only available in China.
Of course I can buy the phone from aliexpress or similar website in Chinese Version. But is there a way to flash a A2017G ROM (including modem) to the A2017 version and get a fully functional European version including full LTE bands but now with more powerful hardware?
i would also like to know. i have the A2017 bought from aliexpress, and i live in Japan. I need to upgrade to the A2017G modem, as my reception has gone to **** since the B15 update. Marshmellow firmware had much better reception. Its that or wait until the next flashable firmware update.
Good luck to us both
I would also like to know too! But after searching on xda and other sites. I don't think this is do-able. T_T
I started to try the qcn method but it does not work for me unless someone can share the original qcn file of axon7 A2017G or A2017G
In my case I need to activate band 8.
My axon is Chinese only has FDD LTE band 1,3,7

can you flash T-Mobile Version with international firmware?

can you flash T-Mobile Version with international firmware? if so does that change what the imei reports when you go sign up for service and put in imei, like if i flashed it with international will imei still show as T-Mobile or will it show International model? or is all imei,s on a database that tells them what it is? reason i ask is they wont allow tmobile version of 1+ but, they allow the "UNLOCKED" ones you buy straight from 1+

You can't flash to international...
the imei doesn't change when you flash so the other carrier would probably still see it as a tmo phone, even if you could change to international...
who doesn't allow it?
the prepaid verizons yahoo mobile and visible they were like all 1+ except tmobile versions

You have the HD1907, which is the T-mobile version of the 7T. It can be converted to Global firmware, but you are in the wrong forums. You need the 7T forums

This forum is for the T-Mobile 7T Pro 5G Mclaren variant, (HD1925 only). The other Mclaren editions of the 7T Pro (without 5G) are the same as the regular 7T Pro, except for how it looks, so you should be in the regular 7T Pro forums.
So it isn't possible at all to flash the global firmware on the T-Mobile mclaren? I understand that you wouldn't have 5G, but if I didn't care about that, could I still flash the global firmware and use it on 4g? I use AT&T service anyway.

No, not possible. The T-mobile 7T Pro 5G Mclaren edition (HD1925) can NOT be converted to the global firmware because there is no global edition of the phone. It was ONLY sold in the US and ONLY by T-Mobile.
Now, for example, the T-mobile 7 Pro, and the T-mobile 7T (along with the T-mobile OP 8 and 8T and virtually every other OnePlus phone that T-mobile has ever sold) can be converted to Global because there exists a global variant with identical hardware and therefore global firmware can be used for all of those models. But the OP7T Pro with the X55 5G modem (which is what the T-mobile 7T Pro 5G Mclaren edition is) was only ever sold in the US by T-mobile. So no global variant or firmware exists.

Okay. That definitely makes sense! There's nothing to convert it to lol! Sorry. I'm kind of an idiot sometimes! I'm still learning! The one that I bought from eBay turned out to be a demo mode, and wasn't able to take any OTA updates... I returned it for a full refund, and I'm waiting for a regular 7t pro Chinese version flashed with the global ROM. Unbranded, so should be a lot easier to tinker with!

Sorry,I know this is an old discussion but, I’m very confused. you say there is no global firmware for the T-Mobile version of the 7T pro, but then you turn around and say that it can be converted to global. My issue is this, I know there was more than one version of the op7Tpro mclaren edition. Is there a difference between the none carrier version and T-Mobile variant?

Yes.
I never said the T-Mobile version of the 7T Pro Mclaren could be converted to Global. And it can't be. I listed other models of T-Mobile variants that can be converted to Global (which is every one except the 7T Pro 5G Mclaren).
Only the T-Mobile variant (HD1925) has the X55 5G radio. As this variant was only sold by T-Mobile in the US, no global, non-carrier, non-T-mobile firmware exists for it and updates are only available OTA thru T-Mobile and cannot manually be downloaded and installed.
Any other variants of the 7T Pro Mclaren (besides HD1925) are identical to the non-Mclaren 7T Pro variants (except for the color of the phone). Therefore, if you have a 7T Pro Mclaren without 5G, you should look in the regular 7T Pro forums. These forums are for the US T-Mobile variant, HD1925, which was never sold anywhere else in the world (again, the difference is that the HD1925 has the X55 5G radio)

Thank you, I get an answer. So I’ll stay away from the T-Mob version of the phone.

Unlock LTE Band 28 in OnePlus 8 Pro IN2020

Hi, I was wondering if there is a way in which I can unlock LTE Band 28(700) in my OnePlus 8 Pro, I installed the global ROM from the U.S.A. support site but it didn't resolved my issue, I came here because I heard that you guys are the best solving this kind of things, is what I am asking possible? If so, how can I achieve it? Thanks in advance!

Oneplus 8 Pro IN2020 5G (CN Ver. with flashed OS)

Hi,
Has anybody bought a chinese version with flashed OS? If so is there any issues with using it in the UK/ Europe? Is there a chance there could be spyware preinstalled on it or should it be safe? Will there be issues with OTS updates down the line? Any help would be greatly appreciated
I have the IN2020 version with global/international firmware. I'm not in Europe though. If it comes with Oxygen installed already then you don't have to convert from Hydrogen OS to Oxygen OS. The phone may or may not support all network bands in your area. So 5g may or may not work. I don't think this can be changed either. Updates will still arrive according to what version of the OS you are running, but there's always the Oxygen Updater App. One thing you should be aware of is where you are getting the phone from. If you are getting the IN2020 version, being the China version , and you have an issue with the phone OnePlus will not warranty it as it was intended for China not anywhere else. If you are buying from a reputable seller they may help you out if something goes wrong, but not all sellers do. And as for spyware I am pretty sure you are going to be safe.
