Hey,
I'm thinking about buying the chinese version of the OPT because it's invite-free. My question, apart from fewer LTE bands and no dual-sim support outside of china, is it exactly the same hardware? Meaning, will it for example support the same ROMs that will run on the EU or NA version? Because, since I heard some people having trouble updating their chinese version OPT, I would not want to stick with Oxygen, but install a Custom ROM instead.
Its completely the same (apart LTE / Dual Sim).
A friend bought the chinese version and I flashed successfully oxygen OS. Also the custom kernels and CM 12.1 is no problem.
I'm using one now no problem just that it didn't come with a UK charger but no biggy
I'm also using the Chinese version here in Pakistan without any issue used the LTE without any hassle.

Umm, the EU model does have capacitive buttons. Not sure where you've got your info from
I'd recommend the US version of the phone purely because of the support from ZTE to that market. The additional features on the 6GB china version like force touch doesn't justify the trouble you may face from a software perspective. Go with the US version if you can.
My bad
checked amazon germany it has Capacitive button
Thanks for your suggestion
but us model doesnt support b40 lte band
this is the only thing backing be from buying this model
else this thread wouldnt have appeared
in 2017G ,stock rom of 2017u can be flashed?
I suppose you can flash the ROMs interchangeably but I've read that some had some functionalities missing . You can follow @DrakenFX ROM thread which has all the info you need. Considering the EU variant doesn't have an unlocked boot loader yet, flashing ROMs isn't the straightforward solution, let alone flashing a ROM not meant for that variant.
On a side note, the EU one albiet costly, has a 3 year warranty. Of course you and me, cant avail that anyway.
The US is suppose to get the 6GB model in the 4th quarter I think.
Are A2017(Chinese) , A2017U(US) and A2017G(Global) three different device model numbers (hardware wise)?
OR
Are they three different firmware numbers that can be flashed on same hardware device?
They are different devices for different regions
And with the locked bootloader they aren't able to be flashed to different region.
Each have different bands for phone too...

Thank you for the quick response.
So I presume the A2017G global firmware cannot be flashed on c Hines model A2017.
I am planning to buy the chinese model A2017 for use in Singapore. I Have verified that it does support the LTE network bands used by Singapore telcos. The seller on aliexpress confirmed that it will work in singapore and has English language and all Google apps
Would that be a wise thing to do or should I buy the global device model A2017G?
Would you happen to know out of A2017 and A2017G, which model has better
Dev support on xda? (From the perspective of rooting, unlocking, AOSP Roms etc)

Both.
Hardware-wise, the three models are banded differently, and support different cellular connections. For example, the US and China models have CDMA support, while the Global model is not banded for CDMA. The three models have differing LTE bands as well (US model tailored to LTE bands used in North America, Global model tailored to bands used in Europe/Asia, etc).
Software-wise, they're pretty similar, but there are some differences. For example, the Global model has lowered audio output (compared to US model) potentially due to EU regulations. On the flip-side, the Global model has a special menu option for "Glove Mode", to make the phone easier to use when you're wearing gloves, which is omitted from the US model. The US model has an included theme called "Stock Android", which is missing from the China and Global models. The China model does not come with Google Play services by default, because China.
Support-wise, ZTE USA has a community forum that employees participate in to answer questions and whatnot, as does ZTE China. ZTE Europe, however, does not seem to, and can only be contacted via phone/email.
Someone here on XDA was able to flash the Global model's ROM on a US model, but had to specifically flash the US model's modem in order to get cellular working. However, it might have been because the US model can be bootloader unlocked, so the US model can be flashed with other ROMs. The Global and China models don't have official bootloader unlock yet (I'm not entirely sure if the unofficial method posted here on XDA works on the Global and China models)
Thank you for the detailed response. Much appreciated.
Does anyone has any pictures with that stock Android theme?

Search for Axon 7 reviews on Youtube. Any review that shows a white Android app drawer icon in the middle of the nav bar is a US unit using the Stock Android theme.
Damn I'd love that stock interface. Now I'm running Pixel Launcher.

From Zte.
Hello, guys.
I have two leeco phones, x722 and x820.
My x820 perfectly support the dual standby (4G + 3G) with EUI indian version. (but not with EUI chinese version).
But my x722 incompletely support like as x820 with EUI chinese version.
In my country (South Korea), there is 3 network vendors (SKT / KT / LGU).
SKT and KT provide 4G and 3G services, and LGU provide only 4G service.
When I use SKT/KT, dual standby of x820 and x722 work perfectly.
But, when I use LGU with SKT or KT, only dual standby of x820 with EUI indian version work.
The cases of x722 with any ROM and x820 with EUI chinese version, the USIMs are activated only one by one. not standby simutaneously. (x720 is too)
What are the differences of network firmware between EUI chinese and indian version for x820?
I think if the differeces be applied to ROM for x720/x722, then x720/x722 can support dual standby perfectly in South Korea.
As I know, there is no EUI indian version for x720/x722.
How to port EUI indian version of x820 to x720/x722?
Have you checked the frequencies for your carrier? Check the product's listing and your carrier's supported frequencies. EDIT: looks like the x722 has all the frequencies required to work with your carriers on HSDPA and LTE. So the issue could be the ROM, or... it could be a hardware issue, OR you have to enter the APN settings for your carrier on one or both SIMs on the x722.
The x722 was only released in China, but was released internationally from Chinese sellers like Gearbest and Geekbuying, with unofficial, modified ROMs containing multiple languages. You should try flashing a custom ROM on the x722 to see if the issue gets solved. Like LineageOS or AICP. Or you can even try a modified version of 26s (AKA custom ROMs by users here). Be sure to go through the thread stickied here before attempting anything though (whatever you do, don't update to stock 26s, only modded 26s found here in the forums).

In that case, it could be a hardware limitation. I don't think the issue would be APN settings at that point. Again, you can try a custom ROM but I don't know if it would help with modem issues like yours. This phone has no official English ROM like other Le phones, which have either official Indian or U.S. ROMs, and no kernel sources have been released for this device, so developing for this phone is already annoying as is.
Since the EU version of the OnePlus seems to work with Dual SIM.
Can we flash the US version with the EU OxygenOS and be able to get Dual SIM working in the US?

Actually, this is what I did. Using US Version (Model: IN2025) and then was flashing with the EU Oxygen OS Version 10.5.4. After the flash, the update to Oxygen OS 10.5.6.IN11BA automatically was retrieved and installed.
Two things are surprising to me:
- I was expecting that after 10.5.6 upgrade, dual SIM should work, when limiting the network to 2G/3G/4G. However it still shows that the dual-sim function is not working.
- I thought that flashing the US device with EU, would also change the model from IN2025.
What am I missing here?
Thanks & Best.
dont think it works like that
you risk bricking it by cross flashing firmware

I was using this post -- and no issues.
OnePlus chat support told me that only configuration and software is different between the regional devices, hardware is all the same.
However it also didn't solve what I wanted to achieve - dual-SIM and (at best) also European bands - like n78 ... :crying:
Hi,
Has anybody bought a chinese version with flashed OS? If so is there any issues with using it in the UK/ Europe? Is there a chance there could be spyware preinstalled on it or should it be safe? Will there be issues with OTS updates down the line? Any help would be greatly appreciated
I have the IN2020 version with global/international firmware. I'm not in Europe though. If it comes with Oxygen installed already then you don't have to convert from Hydrogen OS to Oxygen OS. The phone may or may not support all network bands in your area. So 5g may or may not work. I don't think this can be changed either. Updates will still arrive according to what version of the OS you are running, but there's always the Oxygen Updater App. One thing you should be aware of is where you are getting the phone from. If you are getting the IN2020 version, being the China version , and you have an issue with the phone OnePlus will not warranty it as it was intended for China not anywhere else. If you are buying from a reputable seller they may help you out if something goes wrong, but not all sellers do. And as for spyware I am pretty sure you are going to be safe.
