Not tab optimized
Er, I hate Facebook. But, can't you just use the browser for it?
Friendcaster works great on the tab!

I have it, I paid for it because it work great but then it was updated and tab optimized and the issues began. Some stuff will not show up on status updates, I can no longer sync to my contacts, which was great because my texting app (heywire) would show a picture of the person I'm texting with. Also if I click a photo someone posted it shows a completely different photo.
All that also happens on my cell phone along with the tab. I check it in the web browser now but sometimes the app was just faster and more easy to used.
Even though it's not optimized, I'm glad they finally updated it to include support for tablets. I was using the Samsung Social Hub before and just installed Overcome's ROM so I can get rid of the Hub now.
I tried FriendMe, Friend Caster, and just found Facebook (official?) apps. I still prefer to use the browser...
Facebook app keeps force closing. Can't check friend list. And it seems slow to load anything. For me the web-based UI is what I am familiar with and the one I seem to keep going back to.
Hi,
I have Nova launcher + teslaunread installed.
Unread count works on all apps besides Facebook messenger.
Tested on few OOS roms and RessurectionRemix.
Odd thing is that when I set unread dot ( android O) or dynamic badge it is working, but not for counter.
Anyone having also this issue ?
Thread resurrection!
I've got the same issue on my Nokia 8. Thought it might be something with the phone/rom (stock Nokia one) but obviously not. There's people asking on the Nova page on Google+ and I've tried the support in the app but I'm guessing they no longer care or can't fix it...
I'd like to bump this thread.
I've tested many different ROMs, Nougat and Oreo, and on all of them unread count works for every app instead of FB messenger.
Maybe someone found a solution.

Have you resolved this issue. I am having the same problem with my 6T. It works on my Samsung with same version of Nova and Teslaunread so I am assuming it is OxygenOS issue. Only with FB Messenger.
Hi,
I got used to it.
I've changed many ROMs but it was the same.
One more thing to consider buying next phone
So my calendar notifications have been weird since the day I got my S8, they only seem to work when it feels like working..
I've just missed an appointment because I didn't get a notifications (I set 3), is there a solution?
Two things I found online, first one worked for a day or two, second one apparently did the trick:
Disable battery saving per app - you have to do this for each app you don't get notifications from
https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/fix-delayed-notifications-your-galaxy-s8-s8-0177437/
Disable Google app - apparently Google app causes problems, so you have to disable it. Just the Google app, nothing else by Google.
Also you have to check enabled notifications: Settings - Notifications - Calendar

I've started a new thread about this one.
Do you mean disable google in settings->applications->application manager->google app (it is now saying disabled on my device).
I'm curious if this is gonna do the trick. I'll try and come bazck if it does not.
I't is strange that there are not MORE people complaining about this, maybe no one uses calendar apps.
I have the same issue on my note 8, I try everything to make the calendar notifications working but nothing seems to work.
I've search for a solution all around the web but there's no way...
I'm having the same problem from day one! I hoped Oreo fw wouldn't have this problem anymore but unfortunately it's still there. It's driving me nuts!
How the hell did Samsung not fix this already? Calendar application should be one of the most important apps in a smartphone. Yet it's totally unreliable and there is no solution for this! It probably has something to do with aggressive power saving.
Anyone found a way to fix this?

My solution to this and whole lot of other notifications is disabling Doze through adb:
Code:
adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable

Well, I have the same problem, and I tried everything with samsung center, because I have J5 (2017) android 7.0 OS, but they did not help in any way. I found solution on forums, that works for me, and it is app on google play named "calendar notifier". It automaticly sinc with your calendar, and it plays any sound you choose for alarming, until you dissmiss it. It may happend that you hear 2 sounds, one from calendar it selfe, and one from calenad notifier, but you will not miss the appointment....
Any updates?
Has anyone heard of a forthcoming solution on this?
My only "fix" has been to disable the Google App except that app is how I launch commands for Google Home. Without it I cannot use my phone to take actions for my smart home devices. So it's a bit of an inconvenience for me. Plus surely there are people out there that like using the native google search capability on their phone while still getting notifications from apps.
I say from apps by the way as it's not just an issue exclusive to my calendar. When I have Google enabled it works for a while, but then will stop and many things stop. Text notification indicators, facebook notification indicators, calendar appointment notifications etc.
Do we need to be contacting Samsung support through their website or have people done this and it just doesn't help?
It's a bug in Android and it will be solved in next big update hopefully. Until then workaround is to use this app:

FANTASTIC INFO. Thank you. Glad to see it's in the works for correction. Seemed like quite a large issue to have even happened and not being repaired quickly. But I suppose I don't know the complexities of what caused this or the best solution to fix it. Just seems like a lot of people rely on calendars and appointment reminders not working would be a big **** storm for them.
Just chiming in to let you know I'm having the same problem on my Note 8! It was working for a few months and then stopped! Tried clearing cache, data, and many other "fixes" that I've since forgotten. Nothing works. Recently got the Oreo update and SAME problem!! Really annoying! Maybe it's Google sabotage?! They are trying to control everything! Btw, downloaded the Google calendar app but I don't like it!
I had used successfully the adb doze disable on command prompt but my phone just "upgraded" to Oreo 8.0.0 and now my calendar notifications have stopped working again!!! I had a functioning calendar finally but now it's gone again!!! I ran the adb command line again (adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable) but still no notifications! I cleared data, checked the app wasn't optimized and reverted to stock calendar but nothing! Does anyone know another command line to stop this doze crap in 8.0.0??? This is why I dread EVERY "upgrade"! How could they take this away from me again???!!! I used to love Samsung but now I hate it!!!
I did the device doze disable using SDK tools and this worked for months then it stopped notifications again... sometimes! Besides making calls this is the number one thing I need from my phone and it still doesn 't work! Anyone ever find a solution to this because I still need one! Using Android 8.0! I was using Calendar Events app, worked for a while then quit. Same with Calendar Notifier and Calendar Snooze app. Plus a number of other apps designed to work with the calendar. I've been relying on my calendar since my Galaxy S2!
I stopped using calendar notifications because of this issue. I have very spotty wifi and mobile data, I found that calendar notifications would only work with a data connection. Typically, I'd set a notification, but remember the appointment anyway. About 10 minutes in the car, data finally connects, the 30 minute old notification finally goes off....
It's a dismal state of affairs when the consumer becomes the software tester with such an essential device.
Well, this is weird. My Whatsapp notifications weren't working. When I set the notification in the app ,you can select the app that chooses the file eg Chomp(SMS), Audio files,Themes,Music.
Intutively, I chose Audio files, and that appears to work, but Whatsapp produced no sound on incoming messages. When I chose Chomp to select the MP3 file, it seems to work OK. I'll play a bit more and report back.
Cheers
Steve
Hiya. So I recently got a J3 Luna Pro on Straight Talk, and it's all been great except for a slight issue with two apps.
Those apps would be Email and Messaging, the navbar on the email has this weird spacing issue and the same issue persists on the text bar in the messages app.
asunaclient,com/i/20180307_163349.png
see the odd gap between the bottom of the screen and the text? yeah, that's what's screwing with my brain right now.
asunaclient,com/i/20180307_163706.png
This issue happened in the Samsung Browser too but I was able to fix it by updating it to the latest version.
I don't know what I need to fix this though. Anyone?
Try to update it by downloading this Marshmallow version.
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/messages/messages-3-0-98-release/messages-3-0-98-android-apk-download/
Might be impossible without root though. If this does not work switch over to Asus Messaging. Can get it from play store. From their Zenui phone series. It's pretty good. If you can't find it on play store here's a link :

I updated whatsapp through the playstore this morning and now it keeps crashing on me. Since i am on vacation in Turkey atm i really didn't want to uninstall it. I could receive notifications and calls but couldn't initiate any. Well i did bite the bullet und tried reinstalling, but now it wouldn't let me even past the initialising phase. So no notifications and no calls. Arghhh...
Anyone else has this problem? Version number is 2.19.244.
I really didn't know who i could ask atm.
Edit : nevermind. It seems that there was a conflict with whatsapp and using a theme built with hex. Was all for nothing then.
Haha yes overlays need to be updated each time you update the app itself. I'd suggest you to disable auto updates (for all apps like me or for the themed apps)
Yap. Will keep this in mind next time. Thanks for clarifying!
