[LineageOS] kccat6 bootloop, recovery mode doesn't work - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Samsung S5 Plus (kccat6) (https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/kccat6/).
Previously I successfully installed LineageOS 15, it worked without problems. I also successfully installed LineageOS 16 on a different device (klte). Some time ago, I tried to installed LineageOS 16 on the kccat6, but got into system crashes. These crashes occured when booting LineageOS, in the setup. (I don't recall it exactly anymore, because it's already a long time ago.) I tried many things, but the problem went worse, from crashes in LineageOS to crashing in TWRP.
Now I'm unable to even boot into TWRP recovery. When booting, it only shows the first screen with:
Code:
Set Waranty Bit : kernel
Samsung Galaxy S5
Powered by Android
And it then reboots automatically, causing the same screen again, resulting in a bootloop.
The only thing that still works is download mode, which shows the following information:
Code:
ODIN MODE (HIGH SPEED)
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G901F
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1 (2)
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)
RP SWREV: S1, T1, R1, A1, P1
SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE
UDC START
I tried the exact steps described at: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/kccat6/install which uses twrp-3.2.3-0-kccat6.img, but the problem persists.
I also tried to install the firmware from https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g...e/SM-G901F/PHN/download/G901FXXU1CRH1/234884/ But the same problem persists. (Not sure if the exact "product code" and "pda" and "csc" matches my original device firmware, but the Sammobile firmware does match the model SM-901F.)
What can I do?

Was it the multiple part stock ROM you were trying to flash, wasn't it?
Give samfirm tool a chance as well and check "binary nature" when using.
When flashing a multiple one which CSC file did you use?
Perhaps it's even necessary to repartition it by checking the appropriate box.

I tried official stock roms from multiple sources, such as:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s5-plus/firmware/#SM-G901F
https://firmware.gem-flash.com/index.php?a=downloads&b=file&id=106989
Some are single file, some are multiple files (for bl, ap, cp and csc, and sometimes pit). I also tried via SamFirm, with both "binary nature" disabled and enabled.
When flashing with multiple files, I use for example these from SamFirm:
AP_G901FXXU1CRH1_CL9709634_QB19197342_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
BL_G901FXXU1CRH1_CL9709634_QB19197342_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CP_G901FXXU1CRA1_REV00_CL_2133768.tar.md5
CSC_PHN_G901FPHN1CRH1_CL14008829_QB19202131_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
With Odin 3.13 and 3.14, with the BL_* file for BL, AP_* file for AP etc.
And these from gem-flash:
AP_G901FXXU1CRH1_CL9709634_QB19197342_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
BL_G901FXXU1CRH1_CL9709634_QB19197342_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CP_G901FXXU1CQC1_REV00_CL_2133768.tar.md5
CSC_TNL_G901FTNL1CQJ1_CL12426775_QB15508160_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
KCCAT6_EUR_OPEN_HIDDEN200M.pit
When flashing TWRP in Odin, I select the twrp-3.2.3-0-kccat6.img.tar as BL AP file and keep the rest not selected. I also tried with Heimdall (then I have to uninstall Samsung mobile drivers) in the command line, but that also causes the bootloop crashes when rebooting.

So you didn't do anything different than I would do it.
Although I would choose a lower Odin version as I've read on one of their sites, that for older ROMs they recommend older versions.
Only chance I see right now is repartitioning if the older version doesn't help.
That you didn't do already, did you?

I just tried Odin 3.09 that was shipped with G901F images and pit file from @javilonas, but that also didn't work.
Including repartitioning with a pit file.
Attached is the output of Heimdall print-pit. (Not sure if it can be helpfull for diagnosis.)
Also attached is a screenshot of Odin 3.09 with the images files from Javilonas.
Flashing different versions of TWRP does change the booting screen a bit, for example an old versions adds the red text "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" under the blue "RECOVERY BOOTING ...." text, but the same crash boot occurs on that screen.

I hope i may join the discussion.
I experienced something pretty similar. So i have the following specs:
-Samsung S5 Plus (kccat6)
and installed:
-twrp-3.2.3-0-kccat6.img.tar
-lineage-16.0-20201105-nightly-kccat6-signed.zip
-open_gapps-arm-9.0-nano-20201110.zip
-NO ROOT
It all worked well. Then i installed some apps, modified the settings. Then i did a restart on purpose.
After this, i had the same loop @deoxy had mentioned in the first post.
Code:
Set Waranty Bit : kernel
Samsung Galaxy S5
Powered by Android
And it then reboots automatically, causing the same screen again, resulting in a bootloop.
Click to collapse
I then did a recovery mode restart by removing the battery. I did the "small swipe" in the twrp menu.
I then could reboot again in the lineageOS, but ofc, everything was deleted. Why did this happen? Can i assume that this error will happen again? I don't want to install all the apps, risking to loose everything again.
EDIT:
So it just occured again. Wiping the "data" will solve the issue. Wiping cache/kernel alone will not help.
The phone then restarts into default settings of LineageOS. So what exactly is causing it? I deactivate all Google permissions, is this the fault?

If anyone is interested:
My problem was with the GAPPS package. So currently running only with LineageOS without GAPPS.
No problem or whatsoever. Deactivating any Google services broke the build.

[SM-T550] UnBrick Firmware+Pit Collection for Galaxy Tab A

These firmwares are for the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 Wifi and are mirrored for faster download speeds. This is also an pit file collection incase of any person who has messed up their partitions.
What Do These UnBrick Firmwares Do?Basically, if you ever have an soft-brick or any sort, these firmwares will help get out of that. What makes these different from the rest for say like sammobile or samsung-updates is that these are separated into different tars which the SamFirm Tool provides an option to include binary nature aka PIT and separate tars like Bootloader, AP, CSC and so on. These should help you unbrick your Tab A in most cases and even somewhat worst ones. IF you are in an minor bootloop and just need to get back to stock, use sammobile and download the firmwares from there. Those are the regular ones. You can still use these if your doing the same also but these can help in desperate situations.
How To Use/Flash These Firmwares?!Simply just download the one for your Tab A model and in the zip it contains different tars. Place the tars in the appropriate sections in odin. Example: Put the AP bla bla bla Tar in the AP Tab Of Odin and the BL tar in the BL tab in odin.
In most cases for say like you flashed a bad rom or in a bootloop, you will only need to flash the AP and BL Tars Only. Most times you dont need to flash CSC. Flash the CSC Tar if your Tab A is not booting up after flashing BL and AP Tars. Make SURE YOU GIVE IT 30 Minutes after flashing in odin if it doesnt seem to boot.

PIT FILE COLLECTION
What are Samsung PIT Files?
PIT files contain the Partition Information Table (PIT) for Samsung Android phones. Different firmware versions may require different partition layouts so the necessary PIT file 'tells' Odin how to set up the phone partitions correctly for the specified firmware to be installed. Sometimes odin can't find the pit in results in odin saying "there's no pit partition" or something similar. That's why pits are important.
The PIT file contains all the relevant information for each required partition such as Partition Name, Flash File Name, Block Size, Block Count etc. and also contains some unknown properties that maybe identifiers or flags of some sort.
Note: Flashing Pits can totally brick your device! Most times it not needed! Be extra extra careful on what you do! I or no one else is responsible for damages. You are responsible for that!
HOW TO FLASH PIT
Take that PIT file and place it in the PIT slot in Odin along with the Firmware in the PDA/AP slot and BL Slots and so on.
Click Repartition and Auto Reboot. (Note if first attempt fails with a SET PARTITION error then run it again WITHOUT the repartition checked)

}
Now your data/partitions may not mount. Simply install twrp and reformat the partitions. In twrp, go to "Wipe" --> "Advanced Wipe" --> "Repair or Change File System" --> "Select Partition to Repair or Format" --> "Change File System" --> "EXT4". Hopefully that should fix your problems.
Alternate Option
Simply in the unbrick firmwares I have posted, place the CSC tar in the CSC Tab and flash. That should repartition and get things going again.
PIT FILE DOWNLOADS:

Flashing pits are dangerous so be sure your flashing the right one and is for your correct model. These are untested as I dont own the Tab A. These are extracted from the firmwares and are no way modified. I am not responsible for anything that happens when you flash these.
Want to help out others and backup your pit incase of anything?!
Guide to extract pit : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=56571584
Then upload that to dropbox or mega and send me the link. PITs do not contain personal info and it only contains partitions layout info.
HELP?!
Slow Download?!
Use this tool https://www.dropbox.com/s/iuglifc9cq1y1lm/MEGA Link Downloader v1.7.0_Setup.exe?dl=0
Install it and copy the link, add it the the downloader then start downloading.
Alternativly just install the chrome/firefox plugin for mega
WHY MEGA OMG?!?
AndroidFileHost is great and that but remember goo.im? That went down after a few years and yeah. Mega has been around for a few years now with no problems in which most likely, it will not go down. "Sometimes free things dont last forever" in which i wanted this to last a while
Can I mirror these files to bla bla bla website?!
Yes please! Then post the link in this thread!
Is there a PIT file available for the SM-P550 Tab A 9.7?
Thanks

I use ordin flash my p550 ,in option tab i checked " nand erase all " then I stuck in the samsung logo ?
could you help me fix this problem ?

S5 SM-G900F stuck at android logo after CF-Auto-Root attempt

Hi everyone,
I know similar threads have been opened but since I'm new to all these Samsung/Odin matters I figured creating my own would be better than following instructions that weren't given for the exact situation I'm facing. My english may not be perfect but I'll do my best to understand and be understood.
So here's the problem I tried to root my brand new S5 G900F running Lolipop using the cf auto root methods and now it doesn't boot anymore and stays stuck at the Android logo with the 3 lines at the top "Recovery is not seandroid"...
The problem may be due to the fact that I had Kies installed when I did the rooting attempt. Also I tried a several times :
- The first one with CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900 which had the device off and not turning on unless I take the battery off
- The second one with CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltedx-smg900 which had the device stuck at the android logo with the above message about the recovery not being seandroid
- I then uninstalled Kies and tried again both the above flashing files
The DX file seems to be working a little better than the XX one as the device doesn't turn off on it's own
I've understood reading threads that my device is probably not totally bricked yet and flashing a stock rom would probably have it boot again. So here's my question :
Do I really need to flash a stock rom to have it up and running again ? Could a factory reset have my device boot again or could it brick it ?
Any help is more than welcome
Also I noticed afterwards that your device has to have an unlocked bootloader for the CF AUTO ROOT to work. And I must say I have no idea wether mine is locked or not :s
Your bootloader is unlocked
And yes, flash a stock ROM over the top with ODIN from sammobile .com to get it working again
It won't wipe anything by doing that
If you can't root with CF AR, then flash TWRP 2.8.7.0 with ODIN (AP or PDA section, same as the ROM), then SuperSU.zip from TWRP recovery
Ok thank you I'll try when I get home
By the way I've read that, at some point, Cf Auto Root didn't work with the firmware identified by the 3 following lines :
AP : G900FXXU1BNL9
CP ; G900FXXU1BNL9
CSC G900FOXX1BNL3
Is it still true ? Is there any specific firmware I should avoid ? Is there any I should go for ?
I flashed the stock firmware of the previous poste as I thought it was the one I had before the rooting attempt. The device is now booting but a lot of windows pop up all the time saying different processes stopped :
- android.process.acore
- S Planner
- IU syst
- Weather
Should I be flashing another firmware ?
Try booting into recovery and clearing the caches, but if that fails, you're looking at a factory reset
You did flash the same firmware version as was previously running right? Or at least a newer version?
G900FXXU1BOJ1 is the latest BTU (UK) Lollipop, I'd try flashing that
Choose G900F from sammobile, and from the region/country dropdown, choose BTU
I didn't know what firmware version it was running before and I didn't know if there was a way to figure it out so I flashed a firmware that was free from mobile operator. There were only two Lolipop 5.0 firmwares for my country (France) free from mobile operator. I chose one at random
Anyway I cleared cache and the device is now booting (and that is quite a relief I must admit) so thanks a lot !
Now back to the rooting part I've been over the Chain Fire thread of the SM-G900* and read a lot of SM-G900F users have had issues rooting their phone with the Cf Auto Root so I'm considering doing it via TowelRoot instead (I regret I haven't done that in the first place it would've spared the Knox flag)
Ah you're from France, OK, (Update your profile so it shows on your posts )
Can't use Towelroot on Lollipop, only KK ROMs from pre June 2014
If CF AR is not working, flash TWRP 2.8.7.0 with ODIN, and then SuperSU form TWRP recovery
I have sm-g900f rooted with chain fire. Did you extract odin from the file before using? Should be v7 mine working fine.
Wutt?

Err yes Alman I unzipped Odin and ran it from a classic folder.
Thanks *Detection I just figured TowelRoot is indeed only for KK devices. So I'll try some more with CF Auto Root but I'll try to do it right this time. But to do it right a lot a question need answers :
- First there are two CF Auto Root files available for SM-G900F, how do I know which one is the right one for my device and firmware ?
- Second, there's a great deal about drivers. If Odin recognizes my device, can I consider the installed drivers are ok ?
- Third, a lot of people say drivers should be installed without Kies. But without Kies Odin didn't recognize the phone so I re-installed Kies and was able to flash the firmware that revived my device. So should I really uninstall Kies ? Isn't killing the Kies process before flashing enough ?
The answers are probably already out there so I'll be reading threads in the meantime

This is the version I have used for every single LP ROM ever released for the G900F
http://download.chainfire.eu/397/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.zip
If ODIN sees your phone, and shows a COM port when connected, the drivers are working fine
KIES installs the drivers, and you can also get them separately from Samsungs support site - either way works fine
Yes, try uninstalling KIES, but leave the drivers if it gives the option during uninstallation, I've read a few people saying KIES interferes with ODIN
I don't have KIES installed, it's a useless piece of software tbh
ODIN for updates
TWRP for backups
KIES for the recycle bin

But this is supposed to be used for devices running android 4.4.2 isn't it ? The instructions I followed too said either kltexx or kltedx could be flash on LP devices but following them had my device stopped booting... I'm a little confused... I guess I'll try flashing the kltedx file and if the device ends up stuck at the samsung logo again I'll flash another firmware and try again

Works for KK and LP
Flash the one I know works for my G900F, the one I linked, If it fails, which CF AR does for some G900Fs, then go the TWRP method and SuperSU.zip
(Sigh) It failed again. I got just what I had when I first flashed it. I'll flash your firmware and the KK file tomorrow
Well I flashed your firmware and made another Cf auto root attempt this morning -> fail!
I gotta say I'm surprised, I really thought it would work this time but I guess this isn't a firmware issue. I really have no idea of what's wrong so I guess I'll try to flash another recovery as you suggested.
Some G900Fs just refuse to work with CF AR, something changed in newer hardware revisions, happens to quite a few people here
TWRP & SuperSU generally solves it
Oh ok. Mine is one of these obviously.

I'll try flashing TWRP this weekend. I'll flash your firmware again tonight to check if everything is still fine and get to use my device a little. TWRP doesn't need anything that CF AR did right?
Nah, TWRP is independent of root, root only affects the phone once it is booted into Android
TWRP is recovery

stuck after factory binary firmware flash

Hi guys, I need some help.
I have a Samsung Edge S7 which lost the IMEI Number during some previews flashing process. I tried to recover the number by flashing the Samsung Factory Flash Firmware with Odin. At first all worked fine and it seems all perfect. Odin finish and my phone reset. How ever, once reset the device stucks with the screen attached.

I waited like 15 minutes but nothing happen. when I reset only the same thing happen. I can still enter the download mode again and reflash etc. but always stuck on this screen.
I also installed already TWRP and different ROM but than I am lost without IMEI Number.
does anybody has a tip for me? I would be happy...thx
not work new build combination maybe work !
Not sure what you mean @hasanben35
My main problem is that I can flash TWRP, root the device and install Stock Firmware without a problem. But than I am stuck with IMEI 00000000000.
To recover my IMEI I read that I need to flash the factory binary firmware and rebuild my IMEI (efs folder) but I just dont get the Factory Binary work. If I try to flash works but I stuck on the Samsung Logo with the messages from the screen I posted before (first post here). I circle now since hours between this steps.
I do not have a backup of my efs folder or IMEI and need to somehow recover my IMEI now.
thanks for your help guys,
I have the g930f buy it may work for the edge.
I haven't been able to change iem and Sn yet but I did get into binary. How I did it.
Part1
First Reflash your full stock release firmware.
Reboot and fail.
Download mode and flash twrp untick autoReboot.
Reset and boot straight into recovery.
Wipe data.
Install no_verity
Install su
Boot phone and set up.
Part 2
get the binary fw you downloaded
Extract system. Img from binary. I use 7z.
Use 7z and add system you extracted to archive on its own using. Tar format.
Take the tar you created and flash with Odin using ap, again untick autoreboot.

Reboot into recovery wipe dallying and reinstall no_verity.
Reboot and leave for 5-10 for binary to set up and boot.

Just had this happen. I had flashed and booted factory binary. Once reflashing stock fireware, I got the above picture.
I managed to fix by reflashing the bootloader file in Odin AFTER the stock firmware. Hope this helps!

Thats what i need badly is SM-G930FXXS6 combination firmware for my galaxy s7 g930f can anyone plesae assist or help iv bren stuck for 1 and a half weeks frp on

I put my phone in a bootloop.

Yesterday I tried rooting my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge using Odin CF autoroot with no experience at all. I did something wrong. When it wouldn't work at first and kept giving an error and "FAIL!" message I tried checking for the correct firmware so I googled my model number and found the one for my phone and downloaded it. I'm not sure what I did but my phone is in a bootloop whenever I turn it on and I can't go to recover mode, only download mode. How do I reinstall the correct firmware?
Please help me fix this. Hopefully I won't have to go to a store for repair...
Well u simply
1) go to sammobile
2) find ur model
3) download the latest firmware
4) extract the firmware
5) put the phone in download mode
6) open odin
7) connect phone
8) upload the extracted files to odin into there respective places
9) flash
the phone will automatically reboot after flashing is complete
NOTE: just be sure to flash model specific firmware.
flash stock rom with odin or use samsung software to fully restore original firmware

If I find the correct firmware will it just overwrite or must I remove the current one? I honestly have no idea how this works.
I had this problem once, you need to flash them Individually, one checkbox at per flash. The way to root ur phone should be magisk manager or supersu. First off you need twrp which is 3.2.1.1 that auto root thing in Odin doesn't work. Some custom rooms already have options for root so if ur a beginner it's best u try them.
---------- Post added at 11:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:02 PM ----------
https://dl.twrp.me/hero2lte/twrp-3.2.1-1-hero2lte.img.tar.html
Flash this as ap it's a custom recovery that everyone uses here. Then use the keys power home vol down to force restart ur phone. Then power home vol up the moment it restarts to reach recovery. wipe everything then Flash a custom rom from the forums. I understand ur frustration that the phone has no way to turn off at all
When I try to flash the twrp-3.2.1-1-hero2lte.img.tar.md5 file Odin stops responding.
Don't flash Md5.
Flash the .tar file.

The non md5 download only has a recovery.img file which won't go into AP.
u flash it as a tar file not as the img file, you cant use .img files in odin
do not extract the img just flash the tar.
Btw in Odin the autoreboot and freset time don't matter they don't do anything because if you still don't have an os or recovery it will still send u to dl mode.
once u flash twrp it will automatically boot into recovery no need to hold keys. Then wipe ur phone and install either batman rom (an s8 port with Bixby) or superman rom (stock s7 edge firmware) both have customized installers that allow u to choose addons features and root.
U install custom roms by going to install button then selecting the zip. Also 2 main kernels that most people use are tgp kernel and superstock kernel.
dude, you're so smart, dont know what you're doing and you flash something without any knowledge and preparation...
that situation is fully on you
https://prnt.sc/iyosdg
I can't flash this.
https://prnt.sc/iyot25
Or this.
recovery.img comes in a .zip and nothing else is in it. If I don't extract it how do I flash it?? The .zip doesn't show up as an option in AP.

Now Odin isn't detecting my phone in download mode. When it's in the bootloop Odin adds and removes it repeatedly.

if u flashed it with a green pass, u should be able to boot into custom recovery
power home and volume down for force restart
when phone shows s7 logo, power home vol up to reach recovery
It hasn't flashed. It stays on file analysis for hours.
It does that if your phone is disconnected and reconnected. Download the official Samsung USB drivers.
https://samsung-usb-driver-for-mobile-phones.en.lo4d.com/download
http://prntscr.com/iz109e
I've installed the driver. How long should this take? It isn't saying disconnected.
Flashing a custom recovery should only take 10 seconds. Custom rom 10 minutes. What is the model of your phone check the back of ur phone.

G935P.
It stays on "File analysis." Does this mean I don't have the right driver? If so, how do I find it? I downloaded the one from the link you shared.

Hi folks,
I am trying to flash this firmware onto my s6 edge+
G928FXXS5CRH1_G928FDBT4CRF1_DBT (newest samsung official binary)

I don't know why this happens Please help to find out.
Before I tried to flash the firmware mentioned above, another samsung official was installed:
G928FXXU4CRF4_G928FOXA4CRE1_BTU
Now any attempt to flash former binary will also fail (because older bootloader??)
I'm stuck here Please help!

Which version is currently installed? (you can check it in recovery mode)
Most likely you are not able to install former version because it has an older bootloader.
In my case "S5" ist installed, so I am not able to downgrade to "U4", which was installed before

Use samfirm for your newest firmware and use the region option for your current region. (it should work properly) if you get hidden.img failure, remove from package and repack .tar
Use updato.com to download latest firmware with full speed download.
I'm having the same issue. I wiped everything with TWRP and was going to reinstall the OS, but I'm getting the same fail as you do. I'm trying to flash the same version as I did before wiping everything.
Any ideas?

You just saved me! Thanks a lot! I thought I was stuck on CM 14.1. Just removing hidden.img fixed my flashing issues.
same here always stuck or error on modem.img so after unclick hidden.img use z3x it worked mine is G928GUBS5CRH1
Or you can try with this. Fix the phone is bricked, black screen and more by flash a new ROM for Samsung Galaxy phone. Maybe not the newest firmware, but works perfectly.
