Yesterday I tried rooting my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge using Odin CF autoroot with no experience at all. I did something wrong. When it wouldn't work at first and kept giving an error and "FAIL!" message I tried checking for the correct firmware so I googled my model number and found the one for my phone and downloaded it. I'm not sure what I did but my phone is in a bootloop whenever I turn it on and I can't go to recover mode, only download mode. How do I reinstall the correct firmware?
Please help me fix this. Hopefully I won't have to go to a store for repair...
Well u simply
1) go to sammobile
2) find ur model
3) download the latest firmware
4) extract the firmware
5) put the phone in download mode
6) open odin
7) connect phone
8) upload the extracted files to odin into there respective places
9) flash
the phone will automatically reboot after flashing is complete
NOTE: just be sure to flash model specific firmware.
flash stock rom with odin or use samsung software to fully restore original firmware

If I find the correct firmware will it just overwrite or must I remove the current one? I honestly have no idea how this works.
I had this problem once, you need to flash them Individually, one checkbox at per flash. The way to root ur phone should be magisk manager or supersu. First off you need twrp which is 3.2.1.1 that auto root thing in Odin doesn't work. Some custom rooms already have options for root so if ur a beginner it's best u try them.
---------- Post added at 11:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:02 PM ----------
https://dl.twrp.me/hero2lte/twrp-3.2.1-1-hero2lte.img.tar.html
Flash this as ap it's a custom recovery that everyone uses here. Then use the keys power home vol down to force restart ur phone. Then power home vol up the moment it restarts to reach recovery. wipe everything then Flash a custom rom from the forums. I understand ur frustration that the phone has no way to turn off at all
When I try to flash the twrp-3.2.1-1-hero2lte.img.tar.md5 file Odin stops responding.
Don't flash Md5.
Flash the .tar file.

The non md5 download only has a recovery.img file which won't go into AP.
u flash it as a tar file not as the img file, you cant use .img files in odin
do not extract the img just flash the tar.
Btw in Odin the autoreboot and freset time don't matter they don't do anything because if you still don't have an os or recovery it will still send u to dl mode.
once u flash twrp it will automatically boot into recovery no need to hold keys. Then wipe ur phone and install either batman rom (an s8 port with Bixby) or superman rom (stock s7 edge firmware) both have customized installers that allow u to choose addons features and root.
U install custom roms by going to install button then selecting the zip. Also 2 main kernels that most people use are tgp kernel and superstock kernel.
dude, you're so smart, dont know what you're doing and you flash something without any knowledge and preparation...
that situation is fully on you
https://prnt.sc/iyosdg
I can't flash this.
https://prnt.sc/iyot25
Or this.
recovery.img comes in a .zip and nothing else is in it. If I don't extract it how do I flash it?? The .zip doesn't show up as an option in AP.

if u flashed it with a green pass, u should be able to boot into custom recovery
power home and volume down for force restart
when phone shows s7 logo, power home vol up to reach recovery
It hasn't flashed. It stays on file analysis for hours.
It does that if your phone is disconnected and reconnected. Download the official Samsung USB drivers.
https://samsung-usb-driver-for-mobile-phones.en.lo4d.com/download
http://prntscr.com/iz109e
I've installed the driver. How long should this take? It isn't saying disconnected.
Flashing a custom recovery should only take 10 seconds. Custom rom 10 minutes. What is the model of your phone check the back of ur phone.

It stays on "File analysis." Does this mean I don't have the right driver? If so, how do I find it? I downloaded the one from the link you shared.

Hi. I am really a noob about this. I hope you guys can give me a hand.
I have a samsung galaxy i9505 rooted via ODIN and was able to install the latest non-touch recovery (CWM). Now I want to install a custom ROM. What I find interesting is the arrow ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2349774. Now my question is how do I install this properly? I have android 4.2.2 with baseband i9505xxubmg5. This is considered stock as I got it from a carrier locked phone from Globe telecoms Philippines. Do I install the zip file from Arrow ROM 4.3 under CWM recovery? What about ODIN? Do I need to do something under ODIN before proceeding to flashing a custom ROM?

FLash this modem via odin by selecting phone/cp after flashing the custom rom , or you can do an opposite way flash the Modem/custom rom.

Mate , You need to Download/extract/flash the Link i gave you via odin . (Make sure you install Samsung driver to your computer) Turn off your phone manually and wait atleast 10 sec and then hold and press power+VolDown in order to boot into download mode . now open odin and Select phone/CP (Find the .Tar you extracted) Connect both cables wait until you see the (ID.Com became blue in odin) and click start ! once its done it should reboot automatically then remove the cable . Go to your phone setting and check if the baseband change to FNBE. IF that doesnt work try this one
Use Odin
Untick Autoreboot
Flash modem
Reboot once again into Download Mode using (Power+VolDown)
Flash Modem once more
Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.

SM-N910G, I flashed chainfire's auto root without first using the Dr K/PhilZ forced/submissive whatever kernel first.
I can't seem to find a normal stock rom to push through Odin without encountering a sea of dodgy download sites.

Even any of the other 5.1.1 builds like Simpl, I can't seem to find a tar file.
Any nudges in the right direction would be very handy.

If you want to return to stock.
Download Samfirm from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Then extract the files and run the tool.
Then enter the model as SM-N910G and the region you are in (CSC)
Then tick the 'Auto' box and press 'Check Update' and the 'Decrypt automatically'
It should look something like this, I put INS which is for India.

Download the twrp-2.8.7.0-trltedt.img.tar
https://dl.twrp.me/trltedt/
Flash it using Odin and your phone in download mode.
download stock firmware from sammobile (google it) and flash it with ODIN.
***DO NOT *** download and flash latest 5.1.1 firmware with build number "COJ5" as the latest version of 5.1.1 locks down the bootloader download any version below coj5

Unless you do not care about downgrading to lower bootloaders. It works fine otherwise. But having it locked does suck if you want to downgrade. No way to do it..... Yet.
Thanks for the help fellas, I ended up finding "N910GDTU1COJ3" which I'm flashing with Odin now.

After ODIN flashing, when it hangs, pull battery go into stock recovery and do factory reset.
I can't extract the enc4 files, both 7zip and WinRar don't recognise it...
Tried downloading twice...
I'll go back to my SamMobile download and see if factory resetting will work as suggested by DS...

Check PM.
There seems to be some confusion here, people are telling me, even on other threads, to do a factory reset in the stock recovery tool.
There might be an issue with recovery then, because I've only got a green android logo with "Downloading..." on the screen, nothing else is available to me.
It's not like previous bootloaders I've used where you use the volume key to select options etc, I literally can't do anything except flash from Odin.
Yes I have tried to flash TWRP using Odin, it didn't work...
OMG... By random luck I decided to hold the volume up key instead of down key when powering on and hey presto I have TWRP...

That's how to boot into recovery. By holding Volume UP, Home Button while powering on.
What I did:
Was coming from an old version of OptimalROM, that I'd somehow installed to the main slot in safestrap, but that was a really long time ago. I believe it was an N12 based ROM, as I have an old G900vN12 firmware file in the same folder from when I did it originally.
I downloaded the Deodexed newest Optimal ROM, did a full safestrap backup to SD, and then followed the directions (coming from KitKat) exactly to Odin flash the new ROM. It appeared to work, but I got stuck at S5 logo screen forever.
So, tried again. Same result. Tried with battery pulled, same result.
So I shifted to the directions to restore to stock via Odin, and I can flash Kernels and FW's fine, PIT files appear to work, but every time I get to flashing a ROM, it hangs on the system.img.ext4 install forever. I've left it for hours, it's truly locking, always right there.
I initially tried NCG version, which I think was a mistake, but I didn't know the difference at first and just went with the oldest one. I then tried N12, and still got the same result. I can flash (via Odin) Kernels, Modems, FW's, just not ROMs. Every time, it hangs on system.img.ext4.
I connected via ADB but all I can do is verify the device is connected, if I try to sideload or push anything it just gives me "error: closed"
So I'm lost now. I can boot into download mode and recovery (recovery only if I flash a firmware, if I've tried to flash a ROM it fails.) In recovery mode it tells me that "E: failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)" and I believe that's at the core of the issue here. I've tried to issue commands via ADB to remount, but I get the same error.

I've read some places that people have success loading the correct FW or ROM with the appropriate PIT file in Odin, but I've tried that like 20 times and it doesn't work. I think I just need to find the correct Kernel/FW/ROM to flash, but I have no idea what to try next.
Edit - I also tried booting into Maintenance menu and wiping everything (data/cache) in there before a fresh attempt to install the retail N12 and Oc4 Kernels and ROMs, same issue.
I feel like I've borked the partitions and the PIT file isn't fixing them, and that's my main problem, but I honestly don't know enough to know.
Can anyone suggest anything? I'd be happy to just go back to stock, even - I need a functioning phone. Thanks!
extract the pit file with winrar from the tar file, tick repartition and flash the tar file
Wait, which tar file specifically do I extract it from? I don't see it in any of the main tars or in firmwares either. I'm using 7zip, not winrar, if that matters, but I don't see why it would.
Edit - Nevermind, I found it in the Stock ROM file, I wasn't using that one because it said "Mostly for Dev Edition" but will try it now and report back, thank you.
Well, that didn't really make progress. I did the following:
Tried to flash the ROM with the pit file and the box checked, locked up
reflashed the N12 Kernel/bootloader
Rebooted into maintenance, cleared data and cache, factory reset, rebooted into Odin
tried to flash the stock rom with pit, failed
reflashed the N12 Kernel/bootloader again
Rebooted into maintenance, cleared data and cache, factory reset, rebooted into Odin again
tried to flash the stock FW only, with pit, locks on Modem. (tried with and without battery)
That's it so far. Is it possible installing the stuff for the new deodexed OptimalROM might have moved me past being compatible with N12 stuff in general, even though it ultimately failed? If so, which version on this page should I be trying to restore? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784880
Well, I'm all out of ideas, so unless anyone else can suggest something, I'm going to reactivate my old Galaxy Nexus and pray I have enough in my IT budget to buy myself a 6P this week.
If anyone can tell me a good basic strategy to get a bricked S5 back from the dead, let me know. I can still flash Kernels, and boot into Odin mode and Maintenance. No clue what else to do, I've tried everything I can at this point.
Would still like to know if there's an answer here, I got a 6P but I'd like to use this as a remote or something maybe, instead of a paperweight. Surely there's SOME way to revive it?

thanks for your responce. but i need more accurate details in regards with the process. i read lots if post about rooting note 4. cannot search exact procedure for my note. get confuse on bootloader is locked on my device and need modified kernel. can someone enlighten me please..
Download Odin 3.10.7, from sammobile or any place else. Just use Google.
Download TWRP from their website, latest version, make sure to download for G model, and the .tar format, not zip or anything else.
Download SuperSU zip from chainfire's website, and have it placed on your phone's storage.
Now put the phone in download mode (volume down+power), connect to computer, run Odin, press the Volume up to continue. You SHOULD see one of them tab in Odin saying "connected" in blue that means your phone is connected. Now put the downloaded TWRP .tar image under AP tab of Odin, and hit on start.
Your phone will restart and you should have TWRP installed now. To confirm power off phone, press volume UP and power this time, you should see TWRP booting. From there just navigate to that SuperSU zip you downloaded and placed on your phone's internal/external storage, and select and flash that file. Phone will reboot twice on itself, and you are done, rooted.
To make sure whether root is perfect or not, install Root checker basic app from Play. Oh and install Busybox on rails afterwards too.
Clear?

Yes, that's the website bro, and that's the Note 4 section as well
Hit on the India option, then download the very first tar.img link, so trlte is us
They use different type of model names actually, so when we type in Note 4 we just have to see whether it matches our chipset and not from a different region.

No no, build number, Android version don't matter bro.
Sorry I'm on Tapa, didn't notice you're from Australia, if there's an Australia option listed under TWRP page then please use that.

Hmm, just checked that page again, you've no other option other than India to flash it seems, shouldn't matter at all anyway. They just made India as G versions' default location it seems.
Stock recovery? I don't know how to have it dude. Maybe there's a flashable zip or something, not sure. The only way I know to get stock recovery is if you flash the stock ROM via Odin.

i might have a backup plan before doing the Indian version. thanks for your help bro...
So do you need to update the kernel as well?
On N910G 5.1.1, just flashing SuperSU zip won't work.. It will NOT root the device properly..
You need to flash custom Kernel first to gain proper root.
After flashing kernel flash SuperSU zip...
Try Nameless kernel latest version..
Hope it helps..
Hi guys, I need some help.
I have a Samsung Edge S7 which lost the IMEI Number during some previews flashing process. I tried to recover the number by flashing the Samsung Factory Flash Firmware with Odin. At first all worked fine and it seems all perfect. Odin finish and my phone reset. How ever, once reset the device stucks with the screen attached.

I waited like 15 minutes but nothing happen. when I reset only the same thing happen. I can still enter the download mode again and reflash etc. but always stuck on this screen.
I also installed already TWRP and different ROM but than I am lost without IMEI Number.
does anybody has a tip for me? I would be happy...thx
not work new build combination maybe work !
Not sure what you mean @hasanben35
My main problem is that I can flash TWRP, root the device and install Stock Firmware without a problem. But than I am stuck with IMEI 00000000000.
To recover my IMEI I read that I need to flash the factory binary firmware and rebuild my IMEI (efs folder) but I just dont get the Factory Binary work. If I try to flash works but I stuck on the Samsung Logo with the messages from the screen I posted before (first post here). I circle now since hours between this steps.
I do not have a backup of my efs folder or IMEI and need to somehow recover my IMEI now.
thanks for your help guys,
I have the g930f buy it may work for the edge.
I haven't been able to change iem and Sn yet but I did get into binary. How I did it.
Part1
First Reflash your full stock release firmware.
Reboot and fail.
Download mode and flash twrp untick autoReboot.
Reset and boot straight into recovery.
Wipe data.
Install no_verity
Install su
Boot phone and set up.
Part 2
get the binary fw you downloaded
Extract system. Img from binary. I use 7z.
Use 7z and add system you extracted to archive on its own using. Tar format.
Take the tar you created and flash with Odin using ap, again untick autoreboot.
Reboot into recovery wipe dallying and reinstall no_verity.
Reboot and leave for 5-10 for binary to set up and boot.

Just had this happen. I had flashed and booted factory binary. Once reflashing stock fireware, I got the above picture.
I managed to fix by reflashing the bootloader file in Odin AFTER the stock firmware. Hope this helps!
