Photo quality - Realme 7 Pro Real Life Review

Camera performance in day light is amazing. Low light photos are average.
And I feel flashlight brightness is little low, does anyone of you feel the same?
Is it hardware probs or software flaw?

Hi,
May I ask you about outdoor visibility........ on a sunny day of course. And in general how would you rate screen brightness and screen reflection?
Sorry to barge on you with questions but I'm on the verge of ordering the phone but can't go check it myself (Covid lockdown)
Thanks

I find it quite bright, though haven't tried in sunshine, as most days are cloudy at the moment.
I think the screen is very good - the fuzzy parts are more to do with audio in video. and for me a slightly unfocused shot at times (gcam is ok though and you can customise lib settings.
I've heard the UI 2 (android 11) - beta which should be out sometime soon - has deteriorated the photo experience overall.
some are asking to downgrade back to 10. you can read the realme forums.

Thanks,
My experience is, mostly, updates are meant to force you to buy new phone. I haven't done system update on any of my phones in last 8 years. My 2 year old Redmi note 7 is still on Android 9 and everything works perfectly. But I'm looking to switch back to Amoled.
Are there some other Realme 7/Pro forums, cause here I saw barelly any comments?

i have a similar pattern, i just moved from lg v20/oreo after 3 years. root and customisation are the must have.
i moved to RM7 pro because of price, no bloat, rootable (soon) and wanted to try an amoled.
not much of interest about RM7P around the web. so i come here or peek at the realme board or google/reddit. i'm assuming things will move once the bootloader and kernel are released.

It only has single tone flashlight, any phone with dual or even quad can outmatch 7 pro's flash brightness

Good.
Colors is natural.
Good, but not so good compared to the Nexus 5X. The photo tends to be a little to dark in the mid-tones, and does not seem to be very sharp.
I think the camera really stinks.
The auto focus is slow, and taking pictures indoors is a waste of time.
Capturing anything moving is hopeless.
Came from a Galaxy S7, and compared to the old Samsung , the Nokia 8 falls apart at least at the camera.
I tried the google camera yesterday and it seems to do a better job than Nokia stock camera. Pictures are sharper and heaps better with auto HDR+ always on.
What settings do you have in goole cam?
Google camera hdr+
Can someone please put few images they shot? (like the park, outdoors on nice weather etc)
There
In low light
Some pictures taken with google camera and some opencamera.
See how google camera app makes wierd stripes on left side of picture.
Awesome thanks for the images, I am not really impressed with them :/, I hopped for something on par with the latest Lumia's dang, well hoping for a miracle (either an update, or Nokia 9) ^^.
I think its compressed quite bit when uploading, i noticed that pics are not same quality.
Looks better when i move it to pc.

Can you please show a very low light photo with long shutter speed? Thanks mate for other photos.
Here you go, dont know why shutter speed did not go longer.
Better one...
Wierd, cant go exposure +1 seconds.
Maybe update will fix that.
Is the long shutter speed hardware limited?
Have a Galxy s6 right now. In a comparison between the Galaxy S6 and the Nokia 8 what would be better in the camera department
If the Indian version had 6GB RAM i would have gotten the phone immediately.
I think i cannot give neutral response for that...i say nokia, as you can see.
The native camera app is not so good but maybe oreo update will fix that i hope.
When using google camera port or opencamera the images are better than honor 8.
2 pics

A pretty decent photo quality, however if you do not use the "Vivid colours" your images can appear quite washed out.
I am excited about this

Okay - article pumps up the phone... but then LOOK at the PHOTO sample v the iphone...... why is it that bad? I don't want to go near this phone, if this is its output. Who do we trust though? All reviewers saying it is amaaaaazing... Reminds my how I got sucked into my last huawei - Nexus 6P
The hundred or so (seemingly that amount) of youtubers who got the free trip top London and the early release, or the mainstream media? Or what?
That image comparison though - can't get past it

Judging from the small images I would assume that the Mate 20 had bokeh-effect on, the flowers seems to be pretty sharp and focussed but the background looks delibarately out of focus.

I'm on 122 and there were camera improvements as well as new camera features. I've found night mode to be inconsistent but when it works is glorious!
Coming from the p20 pro to this the seflie camera on the mate is terrible looks like we gone back a few years on the front camera almost makes it unusable for me...
Hi all,
I am on my third day of HM20 Pro.
Love it all and the photos sure, great
Have you guys tried to take photos from the messaging apps? Signal, message, whatsapp?
I cannot believe the... Worst quality ever!! Is there any config I am missing?
Just try it.. Send an MMS via the messaging (not taking the photo before, but actually from within the app) and let me know....
About to pack my new phone and return it....
Thanks for your comment!
The camera is awesome... Maybe not as good as the P20 Pro though at night time
i just stuck a Vodafone sim in for a few seconds to get the 122 update - camera is definitely a bit better! not had a chance to test much yet though, but from the few I have taken shots are appearing less grainy now.

I feel with software it will beat the p20p. So far I'm satisfied as it's leaps better than my 10p I sold.
Automaticmode by Fog
This phone camera is a complete missery!
I've switched from Samsung Galaxy S7 and completely disappointed. I feel like my S7 did better photos than Mate 20 Pro. Here is a list of issues (aside of Gluegate - which affected my phone).
Front camera:
- overexposes selfies in almost all conditions
- HDR mode is quirky and either doesn't make any difference or renders too flat results
- This silly toast "please hold camera steady whike your photo is sharpening" pops up almost all the time, regardless of light conditions
Rear camera
- HDR mode is just useless
- there is no "auto HDR" settings and switch HDR on is taking too many clicks
- and yet again... toast from hell "please hold camera steady whike your photo is sharpening"... THIS IS RIDICULOUS! Even in super bright conditions, where single lens camera would do perfectly well, Huawei asks me to hold my camera steady for 1 sec? Come on!
I really hope Huawei fixes all of that because it's a complete joke.
Good luck
From what i read it seems that Mate20pro is same as p20pro release and it will need few months before the software is actually as good as the hardware .
P20pro release was a disaster, photos looked like a cartoon .

Actually, I did some test with rear camera, multiframe stacking is always on in photo mode, so you have your auto HDR on all the time and that's probably why it asks to hold steady. I think it's merging 4 pictures.
The camera app is just too complicated, with different modes that do basically the same things.
It ends up being inconsistent when you leave everything on auto.
Sometimes it will be flat and washed out with no vignetting, other times it will have ton of constrast, oversatured colors and vignetting.
So now I did choose one mode and color parameter that consistently give results I like and stick with it.

Completly agree with this either the software is ruining it or just poor production ?
One big reason for getting the phone was the camera. I had the LG v30+ previously and I loved it for the ultrawide focal length. I'm glad that mate 20pro added this. I'm really enjoying the big sensor also. The dng files look great so far. The LG v30 always had grain/noise in the raw files at no matter what ISO. I'm not seeing the grain being so intrusive with the mate20pro

So I don't have the phone yet (obviously), but I noticed in-store that the new camera app seems to use (or at least has the option to use) a "sweep" panorama now. In my rudimentary time at Verizon, it seemed to work well! I think they still have the traditional panorama shot options through a photosphere menu, but quite like before.
Had anyone exciting this yet, or see any reviews that cover it?!
If anyone cam post some jpeg & rae files taken together that would be awesome.
Even more awesomer would be the same shot taken with both p2 & p3
(Delete, wrong thread)

Is it just me or does it feel like the camera on the Pixel 3 lags a bit when you take a photo compared to the Pixel 2? Same scene, taking with the 3 has a slight pause before the circle shows up and shows the picture taking animation. The Pixel 2 is able to take 3 shots in the same duration...
I'm not as impressed as I am when I went from 5x to pixel first gen . I just went from pixel one to pixel 3 and I'm not getting what all the hype is about. The photos are slightly better, the performance is not noticeable, the sot is a half an hour more with the same usage. I should have gone to Huawei mate 20 or something else.
This is the best quality camera I've ever seen on a phone. Its too bad I'm going to have to return it, because the phone quality is garbage. The camera is what is making the decision really painful (I don't think any other phone will compare), but I need a working phone.
Hello, I just bought the p3xl but I'm not really happy whith photos in low light , especially on Moving subjects (my daughter)... Indeed it's not possible to adjust manually aperture or Time... Do you have solutions, or maybe do you think I would be more satisfied by p30 pro or p20 pro... ? Thanks

I am not sure you can take low light photos of moving subjects with any phone at the moment.
The pixel 3 is amazing in taking low light photos, but you do need some light, too
This is a nice upgrade over the pixel 1
Super rez zoomed in all the way
I have the p30 pro

This thing is great. I tested it right pointing to the bright sunlight and still gets a great photo. Love it
Just dropping this here if it helps anybody. I've had the P3XL for about 6 months and I was happy with it BUT I was also curious about the Note10+. I had for 2 days and took it back lol. The note has a lot of things going for it however I consider myself a casual user. I value the camera too much. I took some photos of my 18mo old daughter and maaannnnn it's not even close. So if anybody is curious or debating between the PXL3 or the Note10+ and photos of your kids, pets or moving objects are of importance to you, go with the Pixel. Alot of YouTube reviewers only show comparisons of STILLS.

No, 2 days was enough for me to know. And I'm only speaking about point n shoot auto mode, my fault, should've been specific. In those 2 days I took a lot of pictures of my daughter (who refuses to sit still) and MOST pics were blurred(outside daytime, inside w/lights on, no lights, with selfie camera). I really did wanna keep it. Maybe for those that know how to use Pro mode*shrug*

I hear you, that's a problem with the software on note10/10+. From what i've seen so far it uses minimal ISO to reduce the grain, but then the shutter speed is not optimal.
In pro mode it would have been enough for you to lock speed outside to whatever is comfortable to get a sharp shot on a moving object or person (say, 1/250 for a test outside for example on your baby) and let ISO on AUTO (and all other settings AUTO as well). Outside day light most of the time AUTO mode uses ISO 50 and reduces shutter speed... which is great for landscapes and stills, but not for kids.

Random tries in nightmode/48MP....
Have the phone since yesterday and used a Pixel 4xl before. Will post some comparison here later but till now I would say that for landscape the oppo is superior but for portraits the Pixel is by far better. Skin tones and also the perfection of the bokeh is just amazing. Playing around with gcam produces good results for portraits but still not on par.
Any recommendations for ports and configs for the Find X2 pro?
does gcam work with the Oppo?

Today I made a photo comparison between the oppo find x2 pro and the huawei p30 pro. Daylight and at 21:30. I find it frightening that in many cases the Huawei easily keeps up and sometimes takes better photos. The Oppo often has a red cast in low light. Even the wide angle of the Oppo is not superior, despite the imx586. I can only hope that Oppo will improve the software.

I compared it quite a bit to the P20 Pro, where detail is superior in the oppo most of the time, but also not extraordinarily better. HDR scenes and color reproduction are way better on the Oppo though.
In lowlight or even medium light(shaded forests for example) it casts the whole frame in the most prominent color it sees. You can try this at dusk in front of a TV for example. Nightmode increases this problem quite dramatically. Of note, GCam nightsight doesnt do this, so it definitly is a software thing.
In bright sunny conditions, lensflare is also quite apparent in certain angles. Most of the time you can tilt the phone a few degrees and get rid of it without messing too much with the shot you want to take. For stills this is ok, but in video you get really bad lensflares in sunny conditions for which you cannot correct.
I also contacted Oppo support for some of the things, but they dont answer so far.
Has anyone noticed lense flare or pictures looking like they've been taken behind a screen or window? So disappointed with the camera, considering sending it back.
Oppo is a selfie expert mobile. Obviously, the photo qualify is awesome. But I don't know the radiation to take photos. That's the first thing we have to know. Is it omits many radiations when we take photos or videos? Can any known person please share the details here
Stunning
Best camera iv had on a smart phone!
HDR blows out quite a bit compared to competitors.
I often try to catch some views of the night sky. Since I got the Find X2 Pro I just played along with night mode and not with the pro settings - I think this would increase quality massively.
Attached you'll find some night mode photos and a photo that was shot directly towards the mid-day sun.
Btw: If you have some special settings for astrophotography with Oppo Find X2 Pro, it would be nice to know.
To be honest: Don't buy this phone for camera quality.
The sensors are great, they should be able to beat most other phones quite easily or at least compare to them but that's not the case because of some serious software problems. I don't want to go in depth but this phone isn't about camera or battery. It's about performance and display but even there is lacking. The Display problems from the 8pro also affect oppos devices. It's a shame and makes the whole phone pointless.
