So I don't have the phone yet (obviously), but I noticed in-store that the new camera app seems to use (or at least has the option to use) a "sweep" panorama now. In my rudimentary time at Verizon, it seemed to work well! I think they still have the traditional panorama shot options through a photosphere menu, but quite like before.
Had anyone exciting this yet, or see any reviews that cover it?!

If anyone cam post some jpeg & rae files taken together that would be awesome.
Even more awesomer would be the same shot taken with both p2 & p3

(Delete, wrong thread)

Heres a a few photos of my Father-in-law's koi pond at night. With a small spotlight on. Pretty good if you ask me

Hmm Tapatalk is working better for pictures I think. Here are a few others

Is it just me or does it feel like the camera on the Pixel 3 lags a bit when you take a photo compared to the Pixel 2? Same scene, taking with the 3 has a slight pause before the circle shows up and shows the picture taking animation. The Pixel 2 is able to take 3 shots in the same duration...

I'm not as impressed as I am when I went from 5x to pixel first gen . I just went from pixel one to pixel 3 and I'm not getting what all the hype is about. The photos are slightly better, the performance is not noticeable, the sot is a half an hour more with the same usage. I should have gone to Huawei mate 20 or something else.

This is the best quality camera I've ever seen on a phone. Its too bad I'm going to have to return it, because the phone quality is garbage. The camera is what is making the decision really painful (I don't think any other phone will compare), but I need a working phone.

Hello, I just bought the p3xl but I'm not really happy whith photos in low light , especially on Moving subjects (my daughter)... Indeed it's not possible to adjust manually aperture or Time... Do you have solutions, or maybe do you think I would be more satisfied by p30 pro or p20 pro... ? Thanks

I am not sure you can take low light photos of moving subjects with any phone at the moment.
The pixel 3 is amazing in taking low light photos, but you do need some light, too

This is a nice upgrade over the pixel 1
Super rez zoomed in all the way

I have the p30 pro

Good.
Colors is natural.
Good, but not so good compared to the Nexus 5X. The photo tends to be a little to dark in the mid-tones, and does not seem to be very sharp.
I think the camera really stinks.
The auto focus is slow, and taking pictures indoors is a waste of time.
Capturing anything moving is hopeless.
Came from a Galaxy S7, and compared to the old Samsung , the Nokia 8 falls apart at least at the camera.
I tried the google camera yesterday and it seems to do a better job than Nokia stock camera. Pictures are sharper and heaps better with auto HDR+ always on.
What settings do you have in goole cam?
Google camera hdr+
Can someone please put few images they shot? (like the park, outdoors on nice weather etc)
There
In low light
Some pictures taken with google camera and some opencamera.
See how google camera app makes wierd stripes on left side of picture.
Awesome thanks for the images, I am not really impressed with them :/, I hopped for something on par with the latest Lumia's dang, well hoping for a miracle (either an update, or Nokia 9) ^^.
I think its compressed quite bit when uploading, i noticed that pics are not same quality.
Looks better when i move it to pc.

Can you please show a very low light photo with long shutter speed? Thanks mate for other photos.
Here you go, dont know why shutter speed did not go longer.
Better one...
Wierd, cant go exposure +1 seconds.
Maybe update will fix that.
Is the long shutter speed hardware limited?
Have a Galxy s6 right now. In a comparison between the Galaxy S6 and the Nokia 8 what would be better in the camera department
If the Indian version had 6GB RAM i would have gotten the phone immediately.
I think i cannot give neutral response for that...i say nokia, as you can see.
The native camera app is not so good but maybe oreo update will fix that i hope.
When using google camera port or opencamera the images are better than honor 8.

1 with opencamera

I notice the F1.5 does improve quality significantly in low light, though I'm not sure if that's enough for people to be convinced. you only see the difference if you zoom in and pixel peep.
I just started an youtube channel focused on camera test and reviews, and my first upload is a low light test between my 2 phones: Galaxy S9 and Mate 10 Pro. I will sell one of the phones to keep new ones comming for new reviews. So wich one would you choose? (daylight review comming soon)

Just one economy bulb 15W (equivalent to a 40-60w regular bulb) bulb above my desk. The other light is coming from the monitor with an YouTube video opened in full screen. The picture was made in auto mode, and has no additional editing. I mention that the picture was taken in the ultra wide mode 18.5:9 f/1.5 .

Good quality :good::good:
I have not had a chance to try the Camera because I just got the phone a few days ago .
The phone camera that I thought was sharpest was Note 4 and those sensors with 16 megapixels as far as trying to use it like a Camera ....everyone seems obsessed with the low light thing but I think despite the larger pixels ...not quite as sharp for landscape or Architectural shots...
What do you think ?
I noticed it averages 4 here...
Audio quality is 5 , best I have heard on a phone and I have been waiting for speakers like this since early cells.

Some amateur shots from me
RAW photo quality doesn't seem as good quality as my S7, taken quite a few to compare and they seem to lose their detail much sooner than the S7
IMHO I think the detail in the photos is amazing.
The camera "Auto" setting and what it does to some of the colors and/or lighting is atrocious. Medium light or mixed light sources are just horrible. The camera does not know what to do and the white balance is really bad. It is worse with LED lighting. I think it may be due to the different temperatures of LED lights. I use "Pro" indoors and I typically set my white balance with the "Kelvin" slider vs the generic lightbulb settings.

S9's camera is AWESOME ! ?
Compared to my LG G4, I think the S9 has a tendency to slightly overexpose normal photos, even with HDR enabled. I find I constantly adjust the EV compensation (dragging the slider after tapping to focus).
As a point-and-shoot camera, it's surprisingly versatile and copes fairly well. The "Pro" mode UI has absolutely tiny buttons though for fairly important things (like toggling the apertures, autofocus or white balance modes) which I wish were bigger.
Here's a bunch of photos I've taken as representative samples. A handful were taken in pro mode (notably the latter London shots) and there's a RAW and JPEG for comparison. The S9's JPEG output is massively smoothed compare to the RAW original (and has some issues with dark areas of moderate contrast, like clouds in the city skyline turning into a blocky mess). Bizarrely, the DNG is almost half the file size of the JPEG version yet looks much better, even with sensor noise.

This thing is great. I tested it right pointing to the bright sunlight and still gets a great photo. Love it
Just dropping this here if it helps anybody. I've had the P3XL for about 6 months and I was happy with it BUT I was also curious about the Note10+. I had for 2 days and took it back lol. The note has a lot of things going for it however I consider myself a casual user. I value the camera too much. I took some photos of my 18mo old daughter and maaannnnn it's not even close. So if anybody is curious or debating between the PXL3 or the Note10+ and photos of your kids, pets or moving objects are of importance to you, go with the Pixel. Alot of YouTube reviewers only show comparisons of STILLS.

No, 2 days was enough for me to know. And I'm only speaking about point n shoot auto mode, my fault, should've been specific. In those 2 days I took a lot of pictures of my daughter (who refuses to sit still) and MOST pics were blurred(outside daytime, inside w/lights on, no lights, with selfie camera). I really did wanna keep it. Maybe for those that know how to use Pro mode*shrug*

I hear you, that's a problem with the software on note10/10+. From what i've seen so far it uses minimal ISO to reduce the grain, but then the shutter speed is not optimal.
In pro mode it would have been enough for you to lock speed outside to whatever is comfortable to get a sharp shot on a moving object or person (say, 1/250 for a test outside for example on your baby) and let ISO on AUTO (and all other settings AUTO as well). Outside day light most of the time AUTO mode uses ISO 50 and reduces shutter speed... which is great for landscapes and stills, but not for kids.
what is the replacement for ultra wide camera for pixel 3 xl

I do have to add, that I tested the fine detail of the 48MP Redmi note 9S vs the LG G6 16MP camera, static shot, side to side and guess what, at the same image width, the LG is sharper and has more detail
48 super mega random pixels LOL
/\ Megapixels was never a comparison thing.. You have to dig into pixel density of the sensor, not quantity of Megapixels.. that's noob.... I'm on iPhone 8 Plus right now and it have only 12MP and is SUPERB.. But I'm planning to buy a cheaper phone.. I would add that Redmi note 9 Pro has 64MP sensor I guess.. It's a little bit better.. the photo is larger and so it can accomodate more pixel density.. I don't know if my iPhone 8 Plus is better or not regarding camera but I won't afford another one if anyone steal it from me.

i just bought the RN9PRO global, i took this picture in 64MP this morning, what do you think of the quality ?
Quad Bayer 48MP means only 12MP after pixel binning. I do not see how choosing one from every four small pixels is better than simply having regular sized pixels without binning (other than being able to market it as a 48MP camera). The photo quality is not crap. It has less noise than my older phones. But that is all I can say about it.
Here is a sample image. It is a set of three images of the same scenary side-by-side. Among the first two (left and centre), one is taken in 48MP mode, the other is taken in default mode. I will not tell which one is taken in 48MP mode. See if you can figure it out. (Hint: You can not, because there is no difference). The last one (rightmost one) is HDR.
https://imgur.com/d66cSqS.jpg
Notice how the HDR mode preserves a lot more details in the darker areas, but everything in the brighter areas get a ton of halo around themselves. The halo is present in non-HDR image too, but its effect is much less.
Overall, this camera is nothing special.
Camera on curtana sucks! I don't like it at all. My old oneplus phone can even do better shots than it.

Honestly, I didn't like it.. It's blurred(not focused) on the center of image.. look likes there's a huge circle unfocused on center..
I guess I will go for S10 Lite or S10+
Well, I have noticed that you can zoom-in deeper with the gallery app on pics taken with 48MP mode.
But the differences on quality compared to pixel binning pics is really small, on the screen of the phone almost not noticeable.
Cam is okay for quick shots, I guess.
But what I'm missing for example are details when zooming into a taken pic. When zooming in, pics becoming blurry fast, will say things that are more in the background are not really as sharp as I wish they would be.
Have also tested different versions of GCam, but returned to the stock cam app. It gives me the "best" results and works most stable.
I have clicked the photo on redmi note 9S/ 9 Pro and edited in Adobe Lightroom

So, I reverted the photo app to ver.7.x.x and even in poor lighting conditions(cloudy, 1/2 an hour to sunset) the pics look better than w/ the latest version.(better details on rocks surface, tree trunks etc...)

what you did not like in v.8? I saw the HDR is always on (on my previous Pixel 3a XL it was a choice)..
I thought the pictures were lacking sharpness and contrast, well it's an arbitrary, subjective opinion, but i think the pics look better after switching the app to older version.

Here's a couple photos of the jupiter/saturn conjunction the other night. I turned on night mode, the camera turned on astrophotography mode automatically. I had the phone resting against the car spoiler during the one minute exposure to keep it as stable as possible.

Missed the conjunction due to cloudy nights, got Orion/Betelgeuse tonight:
