I've recently bought a Fire HD 10 (9th generation) so a newbie with these devices. I have set up my Gmail account in the built-in Email app. Email and Contacts both sync and work fine. But the built-in Calendar app doesn't even recognise that there is a Google account, let alone sync it. All I get is the Amazon Cloud account calendar. Endless Googling suggests the Calendar app should sync automatically. So help please!
I've tried a factory reset several times but the issue persists. However, I had also installed Google Play and associated services, then uninstalled them as I prefer to sideload from APKMirror.
1. Is this a known issue with the HD 10?
2. Should I reinstall the Calendar app - if so how?
3. By installing/uninstalling Google Play & services did I inadvertently overwrite then uninstall an Amazon version of a calendar component? If so, how might I restore the full functionality of the Calendar app (factory reset didn't work)?
4. Is there some setting in Google Calendar I need to check/change to allow it to sync?

Hi,
is it possible to create a local calendar on defy without creating a google account or add a google account in android?
So we can use the android calendar 2.2.1 as a local calendar?
Can we create the database an use it or must there be a google account insert in android?
Andy ideas?

dont think you can effectively use it without a google account as the android market requires one, for the minimum.
however, you can disable calendar sync so it essentially becomes a local calendar.
if you rooted, you can even remove the calendarsyncadapter.apk to make sure it cannot sync with google.
Try Jorte instead of Google Calendar. It have local database.

I know this is quite old already. Yet this suggestion is quite useless to me, so the question of the TO is still not quite solved: To get Jorte you need a google account again (to access the market/play store). Any solutions? There is no market on my device/rom, and I'm not eager to install one either.

i try to sync my new Fire HD now for more than 2 days. I have done multiple factory resets and started again.
My problem is that i can't get a stable sync with outlook.com.
If I use the amazon apps all my mails and calendar items get duplicated. Contacts are fine. I can't find anyting about this problem in the web. I use the exchange configuration with eas.outlook.com.
If I use the google apps the sync works for a few minutes, and then only the outlook calendar disapears. I can read much about this in the google support forum but i didn't found a solution. I use the exchange configuration with eas.outlook.com.
If I use the outlook app, everything works fine, but I don't want to use the app.
Someone here with a solution to use the amazon or google calender and mail app for outlook.com?
Is it possible to sync my Google contacts on my 2020 Fire 8 HD tablet? I have Gmail working which will fill in a contact. However, the Google contacts application won't sync.
From what I read, it seems doable if I was rooted.
Any suggestions?

I downloaded and installed Google Contacts sync 9. I now see my Google contact in the Google and Amazon contact apps.
I have a new Fire HD 8+ 2020 with (luckily!) Fire OS 7.3.1.8. I have the Fire Toolbox ver 27 installed and almost everything works well. The built in Google calendar app is synced with my Google account and shows all appointments from the 3 different calendars I have loaded in the Google account. But any other calendar app I add from the Play Store does not recognize or sync with the Google calendar. On each app, after installing, when I go to the "Calendars" section of the menu there are no calendars available. Pressing athe Sync button does nothing. Examples of apps I have tried are DigiCal and CloudCal.
Before Fire Toolbox I did have CloudCal installed and initially it synced. But after Toolbox installation one by one the synced calendars disappeared. I have uninstalled and reinstalled CloudCal and tried other different calendar/planner apps too. NONE will now sync with Google calendar.
On every other Android phone and tablet I own (several of each) this has always been easy and automatic. I have googled this with no success.
Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I have modified the tabet using the fire toolbox. Installed the play services and installed multiple apps from the app store.
My calendar, contacts and emails dont pull down from google. Gmail i have to manually refresh, and calendar and contacts are not there (the apps are, the content isn't)
Any suggestions? TIA
