Hi
I have a Joying UO138P4V 4Gb Rockchip PX5 32Gb Android Oreo 8 inch unit. Loving it. But I hate the GPS showing 6% higher speed at all speeds. My old wince unit GPS used to show accurate speed. I have double checked with other ways and confirmed the issue. It’s same in all navigation programs I tried including iGo, ware and Sygic, and also in speedometer apps, so I know it’s an android system issue. Repositioned GPS antenna to windscreen and now have plenty of satellites but didn’t solve the problem.
Does anyone know if the vehicle speed given by android head unit can be corrected?
Thanks

Do you have a CAN bus installed? If so, your speed is derived from your car, never from your GPS.
It’s a 2003 Lexus LS430. It has canbus I believe, I haven’t installed any separate module during head unit installation. Just an ISO harness to connect to the vehicle. Philips WINCE unit that was there before used to show accurate speed. And the speed shown in car speedo is different from the current Joying GPS speed.

If your car speed is different from your units speed, then the unit is not using the car speed from the CAN bus. If you only have an ISO harness without a can bus "black box", then your unit did not come with a can bus. (note that you might have 5-7 CAN buses in your car, although a 2003 model probably not).
How do you know your WINCE unit was correct and your Joying unit is not? Of course it is the same in multiple apps on the unit: they all use the same source.
Did you compare with your phone or some external GPS device?
If I disconnect my CAN bus, my GPS speed is correct. That doesn't help you of course, but I mention it here to make clear it is not a general problem of these units.
Thanks Surfer63.
The wince unit speed accurately matched my iPhone and iPad gps speedometers and Navi programs, and also onroad speed displays - advisory speed displays and temporary slow down boards with speed display at road works. Compared to that gold standard, my previous Toyota Camry was accurate (the wince unit was previously in my Camry), current car speedo shows 3% extra (so I put cruise at 103 for 100kmph) but joying gps will show 106 kmph, way off. It’s annoying as iGo will beep overspeed warning at all speed cameras.

On the Sofias there is an issue with the GPS software. It uses integers instead of floats to calculate the speed in meters per seconds, which resulted in rounded 4 km/hr increasing/decreasing steps.
On the PX5 on the April and June ROM I did not encounter issues, and I have it always on the CAN bus. Only for tests I disconnected the CAN bus.
On which ROM version are you?
This is the device info screen. It’s the stock ROM, unmodified, not rooted.

I have a joying head unit, with the same issue observed. Very annoying! Is there a fix to it?
It seems like tomtom is playing some tricks with our head units.....
3D view won't work on a android 8 head unit anymore.
This issue seems to affect all Chinese aftermarket devices.
My guess is that the app detects the MCU and blocks the 3D view.....
Does anybody know more on this?

Yes, I have the same problem, with an Erisin 7848V , PX5 4gb ram . With the previous Allwinner R16 the same .apk 17.2.1 was working fine.

Hello all,
I have the 1GB AllWinner K2001N head unit. All works good except when using navigation apps, such as HERE by Nokia. No matter the software, the navigation directions get truncated. For example, if the next turn's directions were to go to "908 Sampson Street is in three miles," the unit only say "908 Sampson is in three."
Anyone ran into an issue like this? Even if I connect a CarPlay Dongle to the head unit, the audio still chops off at the end.
Hi, turn to IGO navigation it is much better and sofisticated. You can find maps and other stuff on internet for this.
Download IGO from playstore or other platform that you have.

Thanks for that suggestion. I am still interested in the issue because apparently some music apps stutter like this too.
I have a cheap Android head unit ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09BD1P..._iN7R_OklzorSSvdmoTnLnhAN1JwupQvl9b8feFsMnx-k )
I've installed Agama Launcher which I am happy with however trying to get a navigation set up to work with it is a nightmare. I installed Yandex and that kept crashing, so did some offline google maps and that keeps loosing satellites is there one people can recommend please.

Sorry to say, but you need to accept the restrictions given with this kind of cheap units.
The modern navigation software needs more memory as it is available on your unit.
Igo should be installed on this unit. You really need to stick with it.
Hello,
I have an Erision Android PX5 head unit in my car for about a year now. No problems at all until now.
This is the unit: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Android-Support-CarPlay-Bluetooth-Split-Screen/dp/B09VDCQ4YR
Just to confirm this is all built in to the head unit, I'm not using Android Auto through my phone etc.
On all Sat Nav apps my GPS location is lagging behind by 30secs to a minute. The apps themselves don't seem to be lagging just the GPS location.
What could be causing this? Do I need to clear cache or data?
The GPS unit itself appears to be working OK (finds my location instantly when I open an APP) and hasn't moved the location in my car since first fitting.
I've tried running the SAT NAV apps with no other apps running (I usually only have the radio app on as well) and still the same issue.
Any ideas? Thanks all!
