Hey,
First of all, im new here so I have no clue whether I posted this in the correct place, but I have a problem and cant figure it out.
I have the samsung A20e, SM-A202f
So I tried rooting my phone, following: topjohnwu,github,io/Magisk/install.html#samsung-system-as-root, but when I did step 7, odin kept loading on recovery and after some time it said failed and my phone gave the error: an error has occurred while updating the device software.
After this I went to download mode but I cant seem to actually download firmware onto the phone from odin, it doesnt show an ID: COM either.
I think this is because the system put the OEM lock back on, since in the top-right of the screen it says: OEM LOCK: ON(U)
Any ideas how I can fix this?
Thanks in advance
I cant post urls yet so thats why the link isnt working

Hey,
Has anyone here had problems unwalshing the Focus 1.4? I can't even get it into Connect To PC Mode. Not sure what to do.
Thanks,
Patrick Godwin
Hi,
Well, I didn't experience your current behavior but when I 'unWalshed' my Focus in May, I ran into an issue during the process where my phone was stuck in a reboot mode for 10 minutes. I unplugged, rebooted, and then the phone was fine. I had lost all my apps and the phone went back to factory mode. So I thought I had unWalshed it.
However, yesterday, I received the notificate of the 7932 update and when I went through the update process, my phone got stuck after step 6 of 10 - the reboot step. My phone was stuck on rebooot with the Samsung logo displayed. Then when I power down and back up, the ZUNE client said that there was an update error. So, my first inclination was that perhaps my unWalshing was not a success.
I would love to hear (good or bad) of the update to 7932 from an unWalshed device.
Thanks
Did u make any progress ? I'm stuck as well
I don't know the answer to this, but would flashing the OEM ROM to the phone put it back to Stock UnWalshed?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131022
I've flashed the OEM ROM a number of times with perfect results, I just don't know how Walshing affects it.
I've tried to Flash back to the i917ATTJK2 ROM and I always get "This device does NOT match the selected binary. Downloader will do nothing." and then nothing. Is there a ROM for 1.4 out?

Hi all !
I have a Samsung A8 (model SM-A800F) which was working great. I ran Kingo Root to try to install Youtube ad free. The next time I restarted it, it didn't load, and restarted in an endless loop to where "Samsung" logo appears (then restarted again). I booted into System Recovery and chose to reset to factory, but it didn't help. Then I tried flash it using Odin in Download mode. I installed the Windows drivers, downloaded the 6.0.1 firmware for Vietnam (where it was purchased), loaded the file into the AP field, and once verified clicked Start. The progress was frozen when reaching mid-way every time I tried, until it said "an error occured while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software"...
I downloaded Smart Switch and installed in Windows, but the drivers were not able to install correctly, and failed on the component referring to the ID or something... while Modem driver was installed correctly and the phone appeared in Device Manager. Smart Switch didn't recognize my phone and said "unsupported device".
Now I cannot get the phone stay constantly ON, and the screen shuts down and loads in an endless loop, to the "Error occured" screen... When trying to boot to the ODIN Download page, it loads, I press UP for Continue, and then it again shuts down and loads to "Error Occured".
I tried to charge over night but it didn't help. It does the same thing when the phone is connected to the charger...
However it seems that by IMEI it is sill under warranty. I'm not sure if I voided it :/
Here's what the Download mode page says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-A800F
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
FAP LOCK: ON
Secure Download: Enabled
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0
AP_SWREV: 1
Would appreciate any help, this phone is almost new but now it's dead :/
have u try use kise to repair ur phone

Hello guys. I know there are many topics about this, but I need a help about my Samsung Galaxy S8 (normal one, not Plus or Edge) G950F.
I tryed many method and I saw many videos and guides, but still it doesnt work.
My Galaxy S8 is brand with Tim (Italy) so I dunno if this could create issues or not.
I downloaded Combination Firmware 8.0 but I always have the error "SW REV. CHECK FAIL (BOOTLOADER) DEVICE: 2, BINARY: 1" on Mobile and Fail on Odin... this just can mean that the Combination Firmware isnt the right one.
I downloaded the right 8.0 Tim Original Firmware and tryed with Odin. It pass and everything go well, but still ask me for the old Account Gmail to verify the Account etc even if Odin did good.
I guess that I need to use that Combination first and put USB Debug (as I'm seeing in many videos) but I can't put this Combination Firmware for the error I said above.
What can I do? What is the right Combination file for a Galaxy S8 8.0 Tim (Italy)? I can't now naither turn on the device because it says to me in loop "An error has occured while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC Software" in a green screen.
Thanks for any help you can give. I just want use back this mobile.
Did you tried to boot in download mode and then use smart switch ? Smart switch can recognize a phone when you boot at recovery. Then try to repair.
Concerning the combination this error mean that the combination file are too old. I had the same issue long time ago ( Device 2 Binary 1).
What mean the Google Gmail thing ? At boot they ask you the mail ? Why don't enter it then ?
Tell me if something worked. Try to find a newer "combination".

I can't enter the Account Verification because the one who used this phone wont tell me the email and psw for it (he was the partner of my mom, but now they fighted and my mom wanted back her's phone.. but now, for vengeance/spite he wont tell us his data). I knew about Combination was old but where can I find the newer one? I am surfing on internet and can't find the right one I tryed many). My Firmware code is 8.0.0/R16NW/G950FXXU2CRED so I need a Combination Firmware eligibile with that.
I cant access the Device to install Smart Switch etc.
You don't need to access to the device. Just download the Samsung utility on your computer and connect your phone thought the download mode.
The name of the Samsung thing is Samsung Kies or something like that. Search for it.
And actually I never saw a phone asking for account verification ... I can't really help if this method don't work.

Or, flash twrp. Obviously the warranty will trip. And then delete everything, also the system. Then install back the firmware through Odin

The combination firmware needs to match the current firmware of the phone. Example if you have CRC7 then you need combination firmware CRC7
Please help, can't find combination file for sm-g9500 for latest upgrades. Firmware G9500ZHU2CRE1
Hey guys,
im sorry if the topic doesnt fit here. I am new and not a techi. My Son just tried to flash some custom ROM on our Samsung Tab A and somehow bricked it. It is not possible for me to get into Recovery or Download Mode i have already tried all Button-Combinations. It just shows an error saying "An error has occured while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software."
I have already tried with draining the Baterry empty (described in forum thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1478361) and plug it in to get the Charging symbol. But it doesnt happen. It just shows only the Error..
So i really dont have any more ideas how to get into recovery/download mode.. Is there anything i didnt tried??
It seems like the download-mode is not available. Is there a way to "install" a new one??
edit: it seems like this IS the download-mode.. anyways i think i just need the stock firmware for this model T510NZKDDBT. I cant find it via duckduck/google..
Maybe someone can help me with it?
Thank you
nevermind!! i've figured it out. Flashed new bootloader via Odin. Now its working again

I know I'm a year late, and you've either figured this out or moved on, but maybe I can clear this up for anyone else in the same situation.
I stuffed up and got the same message - "An error has occured while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software."
That error message screen is basically the download screen. Windows (and the Smart Switch software) won't connect to the tablet while that screen is displayed, but Odin will.
You can bring up Odin and re-flash the stock software (or whatever you need) while that message is displayed. If you still have trouble, holding power and down-volume will re-initialise the download screen, though it will still display the same "emergency recovery function" error message.
I hope that's enough of a description to get people out of trouble!
Howdy,
I've used the Tab A for a couple of months now as literally a daily driver, since I modified it to fit into the multimedia slot in my car. It was rooted, had TWRP and even Viper4Android on it.
Long story short:
Since it's laggy I thought to test project Treble on it, since it's supported.
I wiped the tablet with TWRP and installed arm64 A/B (since it's Android 10) and it wouldn't boot anymore. It showed "Samsung Galaxy Tab A", shut off, vibrated and repeat. Also tried "Only A". Same result.
I thought to install it via fastboot. Since TWRP effectively replaced Fastbook afaik, I tried to flash the original "BL" downloaded form sammobile for this exact model. Flashed it, it succeeded and then...
It turns on with a blue screen that essentially says "This phone has been modified and is locked" with red letters on top stating "SECURE CHECK FAIL: recovery.img"
I can't get into download, it always jumps to this message. I tried all possible combinations, plugged the tablet into my pc while holding down buttons - nothing.
If I hold the pwr+down for circa 10-15 seconds while in this screen, it reboots and goes to a slightly different message stating: "SECURE CHECK FAIL: boot.img"
My PC doesn't recognize any USB devices, not even in the device manager.
What should I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(I guess no music on the daily commute tomorrow lol)
Tried a Samsung JIG adapter. Still no success
Finally good news!
I tried it again with new combinations.
Turns out, if you hold all three buttons (pwr, down and up) eventually DOWNLOAD mode appears.
Worked here and am flashing stock now.
For rooting on latest bootloader (Rev:4, U4) which is the one you've installed already, you must purchase a subscription on this page and download that file for root:
https://support.halabtech.com/index.php?a=downloads&b=file&id=452768
As you described, it seem that you updated the bootloader and there's no way to get back at Rev:3 U3 bootloader, having the same trouble in rooting terms, I just hope a developer or an advance user that have a subscription in such page can help us and share the file that is on that page
