X Compact - not connecting to computers through USB, port changed - Sony Xperia X Compact Questions & Answers

Hey!
I can't connect my X Compact to computers.
I have tried different computers, cables and I've changed my phones USB port also. Still not working.
Is the motherboard dead? Should I try another port?
I could live with it, but I'd like to install Xposed. Would be safer to have a connection with the device just in case.
Thank you!

If there's no response at all from multiple different computers, seems like some kind of hardware damage - maybe just broken USB port... A phone fix-it shop should be able to fix it if you want.

Unfortunately as I said, I already changed the port once.
Should I change it again or could it be in the motherboard?
I didn't flash it after the port change.

[Q] USB connection not working

Hello everyone, this is my first post and it´s about my Defy, which, for some reason, the USB port does not work to access the phone and/or the SD Card.
1: I did a soft and hard reset and the problem persists.
2: The phone does not show up on the device manager under Windows so not even an error message saying "Device not recognized" or something. Also, it won´t show up in Ubuntu.
3. The "Connect your charger" message shows up all the time.
4. No notification in the phone when plugged to the PC .
5. Even though I can´t access the phone from the PC, I still can´t charge it through the USB port.
6. I can connect/access the phone and SD Card using Wi-Fi (Motorola Phone Portal) but not USB. I can see "Plug in USB to launch" in Phone Portal but cannot press the button, only the one referring to Wi-Fi.
PS: This is my second Defy, the first one got the same problem so I got a new one... sadly, the it happened again.
PS2: I wonder if a USB 3.0 port has to do with anything? It´s the only thing that I noticed before the USB stopped working.
Any help or hint is greatly appreciated.
well, i don't think it's an usb3 problem ...
to be sure you could try to connect your phone with an older usb2 port computer ...
is the phone charging on wall charger and usb-cable ???
if not, it really sounds like a hardware failure ... then i would send it to customer service and tell them that there is the same problem again .. maybe the just repaired something and it's faulty again ... be sure, that they are changing the faulty things ...
if your phone is charging on wall charger, it could be that it is an problem with your pc ... try another one ...

1. I mentioned the USB 3.0 port because it was the only common thing just before the usb conection stopped working.
2. The phone charges normally using the wall charger or usb (2.0, 3.0) cable through the PC.
3. It does not matter what PC is connected to or the OS (Ubuntu, Win7)/
Thanks for the response!
It is possible to brick it. Wtih some phone's it seems to be a common error for usb ports to be blown.
Could also be the cable... My cable that came with the defy was already snatched after a few months. My screen started going on and of when I was charging it.

Is there a way to check for faulty hardware-related issues?
just test different cables, computers or even mobiles ... then you will see, what is faulty

What I meant was some software that check or even some kind of physical device.
Anyway, I know it´s not the cable or PC faulty but the phone itself. But I want to confirm if it´s software or hardware related and if there´s a fix.
Thanks!
Try using USB with logcat open. You might see something in the log that will tell you what's happening

can u explain more
I'm sorry Guy's, but I have to go for a monthly, but thread is open for your comment and solution!
There is an internal ribbon cable that connects the USB port to the motherboard.
I believe this internal cable needs to be replaced if trying different computers, USB cables, and USB 2.0 ports doesn't solve the problem.
I fix my phone problem, a repairman change my micro USB socket.

Samsung galaxy a9 ( sm-a9000 ) unknown device "code 43"

Hi
I seriously need your help. I can't copy files from pc to my sm-a9000 anymore. I did nothing like rom flashing or system modification yet. One day, the pc just don't recognise the phone, even in download mode. I tried differents pc, differents cables and ports...nothing. i tried *#0808#, drivers reinstallation, nothing... when i connect the phone, the pc display "unknown device code 43" and the phone just get charging. When i use an usb drive, the led just blinking and the phone don't notifies the connection. I use the hong kong 6.0.1 stock rom TGY a9000zhu1bpi3 an it's not rooted
Seems like you have a hardware failure. It may just be the USB port itself has some bad connections to the PCB.
I have repaired several USB ports due to issues like this, but it's very difficult if it's soldered to the PCB.
If it's modular like many are nowadays it's a simple matter of swapping the usb port out.

Issue with MTP

Hi all, I recently started having issues with MTP. I can no longer mount or connect my phone using MTP, recovery or fastboot. The phone charges from PC or wall with no issues though. I bought 4 new cables to rule out cable issue and have tried windows/Ubuntu on PC and a laptop.
Tried all available USB ports. The same cables work fine with other android phone.
I have performed a reset on my phone and formatted data.
What other options can I try
I have miui 12 EU rom

Maybe something wrong with type-c connector on the phone, some small dirt in the whole, or so
Try to ventilate by hair-dryer (on cold), try by slighty changing the angle of the cable (its connector)

Thanks for the advise, tried cleaning as well as changing the angle but unfortunately didn't work. Guess the connector is damaged.

Flashiing with USB3 port & cable likely to cause brick?

I've read of at least one person saying usisng a USB 3 port bricked their PH-1. Have seen other posts saying same on other phone threads but wonder if really due to other issues eg poor cable (like Essentials one!), using port not on motherboard etc Just trying to judge risk.
I now only have laptops with only USB 3 ports. i have a high quality 6" (15cm) Belkin data cable.
How many of you have flashed succesfully with USB3 ports? Is it a higher risk than normal?

I also heard about this being a (potential?) issue. However, I have been using a laptop with USB3 ports (Dell Latitude E5440) for the last couple of years without any problems. I successfully flashed my PH-1 from this laptop at least a dozen times. It does have one USB2 port, but I never used it, and always connected to one of the two USB3 ports. I only used USB2-compliant cables, though (4-pin B connectors).
Thanks mate, hopefully I'll not have any issues either!
