S5e will not enter data in portrait mode - Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e Questions & Answers

I have discovered that often, not always, my s5e will not accept data input while in portrait mode, but will accept it in landscape mode.
For example, I can enter, say my phone number, in the data box. However, when I press enter, submit, send, etc., the number either disappears, or, the enter button will not process the data.
All of this only in portrait mode, never in landscape mode.
This is a continuing issue for me....it is not isolated.
Any thoughts ?

Try wiping the Cache Partition in Recovery Mode. If that doesn't help then backup your device and perform a hard factory

Please help my phone hates me!!

Anyone have this issue?
Whenever I have a new rom, it works great, as soon as i reboot or a low battery forces a power down, it is buggy and unresponsive upon reboot.
symptoms include:
1. multiple entries on text/numbers - ie when pressing a, it registers aaaaaaa
2. cannot swipe screen, it will open app on homescreen that it presses
3. overall, no accuracy on touchscreen.
4. overall, it really seems to effect the touchscreen and it consistently happens on reboot.
try calibrating your screen during initial setup or in keyboard settings
touchscreen issue
the only thing that works is to reset data on it from the fastboot screen. (skateboard screen)
From there, the touchscreen works, but i have to start from a new device. Really lame.
Right after the data reset, I turned the phone off and on, and it works. Seems like it only wants to happen after i put things on the device.

Crashing home screen after installing AlienAqua 1.0 on Cyanogenmod 4.2.8

For those few unlucky people that are having problems with the AlienAqua 1.0 theme on Cyanogenmod 4.2.8, there is a solution without having to manually update.
First off, the problem:
After phone reboots, the home screen (.ahome) keeps crashing and you need to Force Close it via the popup that appears. It crashes both in landscape and portrait mode, nothing seems to function at all. It even happens in Safe Mode.
The solution that I found is as follows:
Power off the phone
Plug in USB to phone and computer
Power on the phone (not in safe mode...power up normally)
Press Menu to unlock the display
Press the Force Close button when the home screen crashes
Slide the display out so it goes to Landscape mode
Press Force Close once again if promoted
This should give you a functioning home screen with the AlienAqua 1.0 theme. Now open up CMUpdater, and download/reinstall the CyanogenMod-4.2.8. Let it install, and when it reboots, you will be back to normal. There is no need to have to go through the steps manually to install it, the automated method with CMUpdater works like a charm.

[Q] Emergency Calls only

I've removed the SIM from my Motorola Defy so my daughter can use it to take pictures, but after I reset it to factory defaults I can't get past screen to make emergency calls.
I tried to hit power for airplane mode to bypass, but that option isn't available. Only option I have is Power Off.

Stock SM-G900P black screen, functional status bar and car mode only.

EDIT: Resolved by using android device manager to push a factory reset.
Today my phone boots fine and applications like my VPN begin running normally. However, the entire screen is black (besides my status bar) and there is no haptic feedback or lock screen accessibility. I changed my lockscreen and encryption password last night and never properly rebooted; the phone powered off due to lack of battery... I suspect this may have triggered the problem.
- I can pull down the status bar and change settings, activate car mode (which works,) etc. I cannot enter the full settings menu or any applications though. Nor am I prompted to enter my lock screen password after the initial decrypt during boot.
- Removing SD card does not help.
- Booting into safe mode does not help.
- Opening S finder via pulldown menu briefly flashes my home screen or whatever application is open.
Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this?

Screen went greyscale, and I lost most of my settings and access to all my apps

I've had my S7 Edge G935A since release date. I love this phone, never had a problem until yesterday.
So I left work placing my phone in my pocket checked the time after departing since the meeting ran late all looked good on my phone.
walked into my buddy's house wanted to show him a picture, and my entire screen was greyscale, I thought maybe extreme powersave got turned on in my pocket, so I swipe down to access quick settings, and they are all gone, the gear is there. I tap the gear, and settings comes up:
Wifi
Bluetooth
Mobile Networks
More Connection settings
Edge screen
Battery
Help
NO Other settings no way to swipe just access to those settings,
Click my list of apps and only the like the default gapps.
I have not rooted, or done any major things to the phone I did use adb to format the memory card as internal storage.
I searched google and only found options to turn on greyscale, but I had no access to accessibility in settings, no access to power saving mode.
If I restarted my phone it would come up in color then go greyscale.
I took it to AT&T they stared at it for 30 min before recommending a factory reset.
I didn;t want to but I didn't know what else to do.
Has anyone seen this, know what I did, or how to undo it?
It's fixed now I'm just wondering how it happened and how to undo it if I somehow do it again
Lol you just activated ultra power saving mode or emergency mode.

So how do you turn that off without factory wiping it, when it won't give you access settings or apps?
I thought Ultra savings mode too but couldn't turn it off because I didn't have access to settings

Emergency Mode Emergency
mode conserves your device’s remaining power when you are in an emergency situation. Emergency mode saves battery power by:
• Changing the color of the screen to grayscale.
• Restricting application usage to only essential applications and those you select.
• Turning off Mobile data when the screen is off.
• Turning off connectivity features such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ® .
Note: When Emergency mode is turned off, the Location settings may stay the same as they were in Emergency mode. Activate Emergency Mode To activate Emergency mode:
1. Press and hold the Power key to display the Device options window.
2. Tap Emergency mode > Turn on. • When accessing for the first time, read the Terms and conditions. If you accept them, tap the Checkbox, and then tap Agree. Confirm when prompted.
Turn Off Emergency Mode ?
From the Emergency mode Home screen, tap More > Turn off Emergency mode
This is what it was, but somehow I got the Google Now launcher while in emergency mode, so I didn't have the more option to turn it off.
Thanks I knew someone here would know

When you have either of the modes activated, there is a "more" button on the upper right of the screen (the actual screen area, not the notification). Press that and there should be a turn off option.
