So did you ever figure it out? Having the same problem here, have tried many variations on the instructions above. Nothing I flash for either "RETAIL" or "RETUS" gives me my IMEI back. I've tried several full roms and also firmware only and then lineage.
What even constitutes the "stock firmware" for this device? XT1962-1 is supposed to be RETAIL, but it also says RETUS in several places. RETUS is supposed to be for XT1962-4 is it not? What is the true "stock firmware" for "Model: XT1962-1 Type: M0314"? That's what's inscribed on the back of the phone, but I've been doing
fastboot getvar all

Till I'm blue in the face and it does nothing. I also tried the Lenovo recovery thing on Windows, and it said the device isn't supported (?!)

If you made a backup of your persist partition, flash it with twrp. I haven't had to do it with the g7, but it always worked with the g5+.

Yeah I almost made a disclaimer like "and of course if I had a backup I'd flash that" but thank you.

For the record, I figured my issue out. Had to flash XT1962-1_RIVER_RETUS_9.0_PPOS29.114-134-14_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml

nothing yet, I even took it for technical assistance and nothing solves
does anyone have a suggestion? in addition to the possible motherboard exchange

Stumbled into a product desc. with some band nfo...dunno if it'll help but here it is....

We went through this with the G5+, and it boils down to a permissions issue in the persist partition. This guide should help, even though it is a different variant.

Lost IMEI Numbers XT1685

Hi I tried to flash this to stock (using POTTER_NPNS25.137-33-11_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip) and now my IMEI numbers are lost. How do i get them back?
Can I request your get var info please, see what state your device is in?
To get the info:
Boot your device to bootloader.
Connect to your computer.
In the ADB terminal, type 'fastboot getvar all' without quotes. Press enter on your keyboard.
Copy paste the output here please. You may wish to remove your IMEI if present in the output.
Can I ask what firmware you had on your device before flashing the stock ROM, and where you got the ROM from? Have you tried flashing the non HLOS.bin and fsg.mbn partitions?

I had Lineage OS on there and wanted to go back to stock and relock bootloader. So I followed the instructions to relock from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/how-to/how-to-lock-bootloader-potter-version-t3694952 flashed everything, locking bootloader also worked and when i booted into the ROM everything was good except both IMEI were just "0" and i could not get network.
Anyway I have managed to solve it for now. I had a EFS backup on an SD Card. I unlocked bootloader again and restored the Lineage OS with the EFS partition and the IMEI are back! But I still don't know how to go back to stock. I guess for my model XT1685 there is no stock ROM? it seems I flashed the US ROM. For the first boot network worked but was 3G only and when I rebooted both my IMEI were lost.
Repeated the process and happened again!

At least you got your device working again.
Hmm, the NPNS25.137-33-11 firmware should work for XT1685 retEU (and I imagine retGB too) devices. I would like to see your getvar info to confirm though. There's plenty of reports saying that NPNS25.137-33-11 is targeted towards retEU devices (e.g https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/how-to/update-npns25-137-33-11-august-2017-t3665211/page2)
Did you mean you flashed the US retail stock ROM before though? If so, losing IMEI/network access seems to be a common problem when switching between stock ROMs designed for different territories.
If you've flashed the US stock ROM before, you may have to look into flashing US specific ROMs e.g. NPN25.137-83, which should be the latest US ROM. However, as you've got an XT1685, you may no longer receive OTA updates, depending on what software channel your device reports.

Thanks for the info, so it looks like your device still has NPNS25.137-33-11 (August 2017 security patch) on it.
However, the software channel of retapac gives me concern, as searching for Moto G5 Plus retapac firmwares seems to report that Moto G5 Plus XT1685 models for that channel are on a different firmware path compared to their retEU models.
At least one user, with a XT1685 on retapac, has reported being on the NPN25.137-15, then NPN25.137-67 and now NPN25.137-67-6 (August 2017) firmware. https://www.reddit.com/r/motog5/comments/6zqlkt/just_get_august_update_on_retapac_channel/
If that is the case, then that would be an explanation for the loss of IMEI when flashing the EU firmware, as your device is more in line with the Indian/Brazil firmware paths.
However, I'm having difficulty finding NPNS25.137-67-6 stock firmware, and given you have the August security patch, I do not recommend flashing the NPN25.137-15 (Jan 2017) firmware nor the NPN25.137-67 (March 2017) firmware, else if you take OTA updates you've got a high risk of hard bricking from the cross downgrading of firmware.
The only thing I can suggest is to perhaps wait for a newer retapac firmware than Aug 2017, depending on when/if it'll be leaked from Motorola. However, as I mentioned, cross flashing firmware is risky (as you've found out), so if you can, I'd probably avoid flashing stock firmware altogether. You may wish to look into the TWRP flashables which don't touch your bootloader: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/development/rom-twrp-flashable-stock-builds-t3675616

That is interesting. How do I have a UK charging brick on a retapac? Maybe its a Singapore model? I assumed it was GB as it had the UK plug.
Sorry for the inconvenience, I suffer a similar problem but when I use the command fastboot getvar all my imei and serial number appear, but when I start the device it says "imei 0"
same as here..did you find solution?
I have lost IMEI...below is getvar information..please help me which is correct firmware

Hi I tried to flash this to stock (using POTTER_NPNS25.137-33-11_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip) and now my IMEI numbers are lost. How do i get them back?

Flashing someone else's EFS will not get your IMEI back. Also their EFS contains "their" info and should not be shared.

Bootlooping XT1622 with locked bootloader

As above, my XT1622, running the December security update, is bootlooping, and has been since installing that update. It doesn't boot into recovery either. I recently bought it second hand and hadn't got around to enabling USB debugging, so am limited in terms of what I can do with it. I've flashed the December 2017 Fastboot stock on it, but no change (and of course downgrading to a previous version of the bootloader wouldn't work as things stand).
Any suggestions would be gratefully received! I don't want to give up on the thing because there's obviously life left in it somewhere.
Ok, did you flash the update.zip with stock recovery or twrp?
It was the stock firmware flashable through Fastboot, so just followed that method manually - Fastboot is the only thing I can reach. I can't boot into recovery mode at all, it just loops.
How are you flashing the fastboot stock ROM, are you using a script or flashing each command manually? Can you verify each command is reporting [OKAY] after flashing?
Also, are you performing a full flash on the device (including fastboot erase userdata)?
If you can, it would be good to see a getvar all data, so we have an idea of the state of this device, given it was second hand:
1)Boot your device to the bootloader, attach to your computer via USB cable.
2)Open ADB on your computer, and type 'fastboot getvar all' without quotes into the ADB terminal. Press Enter.
3)Paste the output in a new post here - you may wish to omit the IMEI. The output should contain a list of your device variables.

Try this, this is for flash bootloader and Qualcomm drivers by 0
Thanks for the help, all.
I flashed each command manually on Fastboot (couldn't get script to run, for whatever reason), each was reported OKAY. I included 'erase userdata' in there.

Restore xt1965-t

I have an xt1965-t, not the t-mobile specific version.
I installed Lineage. It currently has the lineage recovery on it. It isn't rooted.
Is it possible to completely restore it to it's factory state? There is no data on it that needs to be preserved.

Seems unlikely you have an XT-1965-T that is not T-mobile.
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/lake/official/TMO/
even if that is the case it should be ok using TMO firmware with bootloader unlocked.
Also there is a Moto G7 Plus Forum
Moto G7 Plus
The Moto G7 Plus is a 6.2" phone with a 1080 x 2270p display. The Snapdragon 636 is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The main camera is 16MP and the selfie camera is 5MP. The battery has a 3000mAh capacity.

You have 2 conflicting lines
Code:
radio: TMO
ro.carrier: retla
If you are in the USA flash the TMO
If you are not in the USA flash the RetLA
If you flash the RetLA and you cannot connect to your carrier
Flash this from TMO
Code:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn

As I understand it the the phone was originally made by Motorola for t-mobile and sold as the Revvlry+. Recently, Motorola started selling them as the US version of the Moto g7 plus. Hardware wise I think they are identical.

So, I apologize if this a silly question since I am brand new to this but what I need to do if I understand from that post is follow all the instructions for flashing the retla and then before issuing the reboot I execute the 4 commands in post #8 but using the file versions from the tmo version. Is that right?

In fact you can just skip these RetLA radio commands
Code:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
Then it shouldn't be an issue.
So...I was just about to start when I noticed that sparse chunks are bigger than my max-sparse-size. Is that something to worry about?
OK, thanks for all your help.
I went ahead and just tried it even with the max-sparse-size mismatch. It seems to have worked. The phone boots, connect to the mobile network and generally functions as factory new. I was also able to relock the bootloader.
The only issue is that remains is when the phone boots I get a nasty looking error message that reads: "Your device has loaded another operating system".
Is there any way to remove that or do I just have to live with it?

Not likely.
You could try LMSA again.
But LMSA may be confused with the RetLA channel and the TMO radio

Hi, I have the exact same device as you.
1) Did you just flash the full RETLA (XT1965-2) firmware from LoLinet? as-is? or did you need to modify radio stuff?
2) There apparently is a method to mask the nag message of "another operating system". It is to flash another modified logo . There a a couple discussions about it. Here is 1. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/bootlogo-modded-bootlogo-from-unlocked-bootloader.3910421/

Bricked Moto G5 - Potter

Hi,
Good Morning All,
I have an old Moto G5+ (Potter, XT1686) which I use for streaming media. The phone was rooted and used to run Lineage / Pixel Experience ROMs and for some time it was rooted with Magisk.
I wanted to remove the root and return to official ROM and I followed all the published procedures but I am unable to get the system to boot.
If TWRP is installed - The phone reboots to TWRP despite installing all variants of Lineage / Pixel Experience.
If I try and install the official rom using fastboot commands the phone goes to the "no command" screen and remains stuck there.
