hi all,
You all may know that Galaxy S20 series has a 120hz display refresh rate but into the code it was found out that the S20 lineup also supports 90hz display refresh rate.
Now it is also an adb command to switch from 120hz to 90hz and also an application to do so.
Also, Oneplu8 has a 90hz display refresh rate but the Oneplus 8 Pro has 120hz display rate.
As both have the same software, i guess that the Oneplu 8 Pro is limited by software to have only 120hz refresh rate.
But 99% i am quite sure that, because sharing the same software with Oneplus 8, it also has a 90hz display option which can be enabled.
The question is now HOW TO ENABLE IT?
https://www.91mobiles.com/hub/oneplus-8-pro-120hz-punch-hole-display-image-leak/
Here it appears to have 60hz or 90hz or 120hz option. And it was before the launch!
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...n-oneplus-8-pro-and-night-scape-mode.1214778/
So please, if anyone has the knowledge and means to check, please do so.
Imagine 4510 battery with 90hz refresh rate and software as Oneplus 8 Pro, what could it be?
Thank you in advance and waiting for your responses and maybe solutions.

No that's not true mate. The OnePlus 8 Pro has a different panel..it's a hardware change..
That being said, a 90Hz refresh rate should be possible.
The s20 ultra users had a similar question and a 96Hz mode was created, by Samsung iirc not 90.
It would be a nice addition to the device. Personally I don't need it, I've been hitting 8-9 hours each charge with FHD 120, but I'd certainly try it if it was available.
Why don't you try the ADB command and see if it works.

I tried the same command as for S20 and it enables the 60hz.
If you have some adb command to try for the 90 or 96hz, please write them here.
I am not changing phones between Oneplus 8 Pro and S20Ultra because the Oneplus 8 Pro camera is way better than S20Ultra, unfortunatelly for S20Ultra which has the flat display which I do like.
I think the flat display is where the good times end.
I wouldn't swap for the ultra if I was paid to.
As for 90hz the option actually has to be there initially or is not going to work, I think Samsung added it because of the QHD 120hz Saga.
Maybe it'll be enabled in the future, I'm not sure.
Could be a way to force it, I used to use an app on windows calls CRU, principle is the same I suppose.

The PROS for S20Ultra:
- flat display
- Samsung OneUI
- Samsung shortcuts
- Samsung Themes
- Samsung apps compatibility
The CONS for S20Ultra:
- Exynos chipset
- Bad camera for both pictures and videos
- Quickly heating up
- Poor performance and lags when it's heated up
If OnePlus have had flat display and actual theme engine, it would have been rock solid..

Oh you've had a nightmare mate, what are you talking about?
One UI? Compared to OnePlus launcher? Cmon man, that's insanity to even breath that it's anywhere close to better.
OnePlus hands down.
Shortcuts? Nope.
Themes? Lol nope
Samsung apps??? Why would you want to use Samsung apps? The only one worth anything is the browser which I'm using with sync to Firefox.
OnePlus doesn't need a theme engine, plus you have a little app called substratum, if you can't make a theme from substratum then you need help.
I'm not going to comment on the other things because they speak for themselves.
To put it plainly, anybody anywhere in the world who would finance Samsung when they practice ripping off half the globe whilst the other half gets a superior chipset and then pass it off as being pro active is a part of the problem, Samsung deserve to be hit very very hard for what they've been doing since the Galaxy S3, the Exynos is horrific and always has been and always will be, I would love them to release another device with the Exynos in it.
I wouldn't think of comparing that turd of a device in the same sentence as the OnePlus 8 Pro.
They're not in the same league.
I'll give the ultra one pro, the zoom on the US version, that is it.

hi,
I already did this there too.
no luck so far.
We have one global setting which controls this:
oneplus_screen_refresh_rate
It's set to 1 when you run 60hz, and 2 when you run 120hz.
I haven't found anything else in settings that differ when you change refresh rate. :/
Try 1.5
Nice spot though.

Not blind, just spent more money on phones than the average household and felt more of a pinch when phones didn't deliver, like the ultra.
I have a right to be annoyed, when you've had 2-3 phones a year for a decade perhaps you'll feel the same or appreciate how I feel.
Until then, I'll just put my middle finger up and drink this beer.

I also spend way more than I should on phones (8 Pro is my 3rd) this year so far ? I have the Ultra and very much like and enjoy it, however for me OxygenOS is better optimised than OneUI, the 8 Pro is better designed, has well structured features in terms of the OS.
So I paid £800 for my OnePlus 8 Pro & £1200 for the Ultra, so does the Samsung offer £400 worth of better quality or features over the 8 Pro? Yes & No....it just depends on what you want. Is the 10-30x usable zoom worth it? Are the added baked in OneUI features worth it? Like Dex for example?
Each of us have our own opinions, and it's fine to express without a label being attached........:good:
For me I'd say the 8 Pro is the better option to if I'm being totally honest and the device I would recommend (despite the fact that I like the Ultra).

Mini review
Camera: poor. Nearly every photo looks like an oil painting
Screen: lovely
Speakers: great but a tad boomy
Battery: on average I'm getting 6 hours after each charge which is great compared to my 3 on the Nexus 6p
Speed: no issues at all
---------- Post added at 09:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:44 AM ----------
Forgot to mention that the charging speed is incredibly quick
Camera: love it, in pro mode you can do whatever you want tho, and also shoots in RAW
Screen: good colors but i hate pentile grid, and usable for vr but 1080p or FHD+ is not enough
Speakers: good stereo effect when is on orizontal, but losses fidelity at max volumes
Battery: very good, similar to my old Mi MIX (4400mah)
Speed: Fast AF for real
Storage and Memory: not "PRO".....
6GB ram is good but other flagships have 8GB,
128GB storage is good too, but again, my old Mi MIX have 256GB.
Design: love it
USB-C: FULL support, you can plug whatever you want there, docs, hdmi, another phone, pendrives, mini fan, other charger, mouse, keyboard, name it. ( my Mi MIX dont support hdmi over USB-C for example)
Honestly I absolutely love this phone. I've got a Mate 10 pro BLA-L29 international on T-mobile.
Pros:
Battery. Check my post in the battery thread, fantastic. 8.5-9+ hours SOT with light-moderate usage, 6.5+ on the conservative side for heavy usage.
Screen is really pretty. Honestly the 18:9 OLED 1080p screen is super nice regardless of the normal mate 10 having a QHD panel. I'd say it is a very well built screen
Quick. The kirin 970 has been fast and haven't had any glitches or even odd stutters
Having oreo is great, and MIUI has been pretty swell in my experience. I've seen a lot of hate on it so I was a bit nervous, but honestly it just gives you a lot of different options in the settings I feel like. Personally as someone that likes to tinker with their device but doesnt feel like rooting, I like being able to tweak every aspect of the phone to the extent of the vast number settings.
Cons
Really the only one I can think of currently is software stuff. I hate not being able to expand notifications from the lockscreen and idk why it doesn't let you do that. Idk if it'd an oreo thing or a MIUI thing but I hope it gets fixed in an update because I'd hope that wasn't intentional.
Will add more as I think of them
Things I don't have enough credibility to critique :
Camera. I don't take a ton of photos apart from things like snapchat or the occasional normal photo of my pets, but in my usage the cameras have been great. I'm not going to say I'm am avid photographer though so I won't pretend I know more than I do with how good it is for someone more into professional photography
Coming from note 8. Actually usinf both as daily drivers and Huawei really have a loooong way to go
I am not talking cameras or battery but user experience, smoothness and UI. It's like comparing an iPhone with a 2015 Android phone

I have the mate 10 non pro. I'm getting 8-9 hours SOT, very speedy, love the size and feel.
it's truly a homerun. Sound out of the 3.5mm headphone jack is GREAT.

Yes I agree. Battery life. Camera maybe speakers
But I am talking about UI smoothness and user experience. Note 8 is much smoother in animation and the UI is much useful. As in the miniapps the apps windows. The applications are much better optimised for example TubeMate.
The default apps In general, calendar calc phone messenger files etc are much much better on Samsung
By the way where I live mate 10 pro is more expensive than note 8

Its for both mate
I have had my mate 10 for over a month now and to be honest I think my mate 9 is a better phone, I really don't think the front fingerprint sensor is anywhere near as good as the mate 9 rear one and the phone is just not as smooth to operate with random delays in apps opening or freezing.
Mate 10 pro has the best battery you can get right now in my opinion. The camera can take good photos. It is very fast and has plenty of ram. On the other hand it has bad video, bad audio and old fashioned ui.
Just tried the Emui desktop by connecting my M10PRO to a TV with a USBC-HDMI cable. It works quite well.
Nice to be able to watch Netflix on a hotel room TV directly from the phone.
Will try other out more apps/stuff on the desktop interface to see if it's useful for more than media.
I hope that Huawei will develop a system similar or similar to Knox ™ or Secure folder, since the Mate series is a direct competition to the Galaxy Note, which are 100% focused on work and also have a user focus with BYOD
Just got the Mate 10 Pro the day it hit Best Buy, a few day ago. Haven't bothered rooting yet because truthfully it doesn't need it.Im impressed with the overall quality.Extremely fast and stable. High 212k Antutu score. Thumbs up on this one.
mate 10 , very good camera , good battery , nice design , incredible fingerprint , very good price

The phone looks stunning, most beautiful phone I've ever seen. Camera is amazing, tho I haven't got a clue on how to use most of its functions and there is no tutorial either which sucks. Having the Global Model was a surprisingly disappointing buying experience since it did not come with headphones nor back cover so I had to buy one. The icons are very large as is text. That was also surprising, as I'm used to small icons and text. Despite changing both to the smallest possible it's still huge.

It is worthy my money¿
I think the phone is great (5 stars) but I will give it 1 star because it's been out for 6 months and even after contacting Huawei through various means including twitter, Huawei can't/doesn't care about fixing the f*ing weather app so that my town is found in the search.
All phones I have ever used can find Guildford, England, including all other Huawei phones but this one doesn't.
It's 6 months to fix a bug that would probably take 5 minutes if anyone bothered so f*** off Huawei you are too arrogant to ever get my money again.
my current phone is honor 10, i love it very much, so for my next phone i will also choose honor, honor 20 should be much better.
Surprising Phone
I got mine as part of a downsizing of my contract costs, so this cost me £20pm for a 24month contract.
For the money, it simply is incredible. Considering the phone launched at £579 (I got the 8/256GB model) the drop in price to get a 2GB/Unlimited everything else contract for less TCO than the RRP is pretty great.
The screen is bright and somehow better in sunlight than my old S8 despite the latter officially having a much better sunlight contrast. The phone performs great with a 300k+ AntuTu score, and no apps phase the thing. With a bit of work getting a consistent dark theme helps a great deal too in terms of usability and the UI feels fine to sue although I instantly switched to the familiarity of the Microsoft Launcher.
The main camera is so much better than I expected for a budget flagship. The AI Ultra Clarity mode is stunning when used outdoors. Need to test video mode but compared to the S8 the main camera is a massive step up. The selfie camera is average but I'm not too worried about that.
Overall, yes you lack stuff like a periscope zoom camera and wide angle, but considering a S10e would cost me £200 more TCO, come with 128GB less storage? It isn't enough of an upgrade to justify the expense, despite the AMOLED screen being undeniably better. Design wise, the View 20 is more than a match and the back pattern on the Phantom Blue is amazing.
Overall, so far, so good.

The 'If Only' phone of the year.
The things that Huawei have removed in comparison to the pro ruin what could have been one of the phones of the year especially at the price.
I love the reduced size and flat screen but I always get a sense I am using a compromised device when I pick it up. The model that Samsung adopted with the S10 IMO makes more sense.
Shame.
....humm, do you need 10x zoom? in real life No. Time-of-Flight(TOF) for Ultra Boken effect, No. Wireless Charge.... Cool, but No. And IP68: I never broke a smartphone in my life because of water, but broke too much on the ground!!
Saving 200$ USD and I have better battery life, all the main spec of the Pro and I can Hook and use it in ONE hand!!
I compare with Samsung S10 and try it. But, cost me 300$ USD more than the P30 and battery life pain to last one day... No. Hole in the screen not compatible to many app... and Bixby!!!
If someone speak french, there's a link here: youtu.be/5yCJ8o85fXI
I've been using the P30 for a month now.
I need the headphone jack more than wireless charging or 10x zoom. I also prefer the smaler form factor and I drop my phone every now and then and I don't think curved displays like this a lot.
I am coming from a Galaxy S7 so it was a bigger jump and I am completly happy with this phone. Great performance, great screen - but the two most important things are for me - impressive camera and impressive battery life. The Galaxy S10e was an option but then I read about its mediocre battery life, and to my expierience Samsung always looses in this department.
No faults or bugs so far. I've been using Nova Launcher for years so I am not bothered with EMUI. I like the dark mode and the gestures, though. The Huawei software seems a bit too nosie for my taste so I deactivated most of it and I did not activate the Huawei-cloud. But in general I consider this phone the best deal for me at the moment.

I need the headphone jack more than wireless charging or 10x zoom. I also prefer the smaler form factor and I drop my phone every now and then and I don't think curved displays like this a lot.
I am coming from a Galaxy S7 so it was a bigger jump and I am completly happy with this phone. Great performance, great screen - but the two most important things are for me - impressive camera and impressive battery life. hi!
same situation , s10e was an option, but battery in samsung is something annoying, same with not symmetrical front camera...
p30 is great choice for me!
Just got my P30 2 days ago. It's also my first Huawei phone. No regrets. I absolutely love this. I'm coming from a Pixel 2, and although I prefer stock Android any day, I found it so hard to ignore the hardware innovation from other manufacturers. I didn't want to wait for a miracle and hope Google would design their next Pixel up to modern standards and have more than 4GB of RAM.
EMUI isn't perfect, but it's honestly not as bad as YouTube and tech reviewers say it is. To me, slapping on Hyperion Launcher made it so much better.
Don't even get me started with the battery life of this thing.

Did you notice a blue tint when going into the recents screen? Happens to me when using ANY third party launcher, right now i'm using Smart Launcher. Had to remove Huaweis Launcher to get an older, unaffected recents screen back. Quite annoying.

Yes, I did notice that. It's likely how EMUI handles app switching, so any third-party launcher we use will always have that effect.
Though I wish it didn't have to happen, it doesn't bother me very much.
Hello,
I got this device for free. I had a Oneplus 6t , and a Mate 10 Pro before.
I can tell, scrolling on this phone is smooth as hell. Compared to the Mate 10 Pro, this is really a complete different level. Oneplus is known as one of the fastest and smoothest phone out.. But really, this phone beats Onplus 6t in scrolling smoothness... Really amazed and surprised after having Mate 10 Pro... Huawei has done its job well! This phone is really fast
The camara is nice and is probably good enough for most of the people out there... but the camara of the Pro model is the way to go if you want to have the best.
I thought battery would be to small for me after having Mate 10 Pro with 4000 mha and Oneplus 6t with 3700. But i m really pleased by the battery life of this phone.. its comparable to the other devices! Nice!!!
Emui isnt that bad as everyone says... And it has improved a lot compared to my Mate 10 Pro. I m sure you wont regret it if you buy this phone, i prefer it over my Oneplus 6t.
Good job!!

Whats gonna happen to the P30 now with Google pulled out.....Just happened, like today! Google is done with Huawei.....It says the only way to get google on it now is through open source (AOSP) but do this mean we will still be able to sign into our goolge accounts and get play store updates???

Okay. It really boggles me how they implemented it in their launcher. I guess it gets closed by their aggressive RAM management and that causes this issue. Pretty dumb and a problem for atleast a year now. I did contact them though so they know about this issue and explained it as thoroughly as possible. They told me that they don't need any further information for now, maybe they'll have a fix ready for the next update. That's the only downside to Huawei phones for me: Their UI and software changes aren't really done well, causing issues that shouldn't exist.
Between P30 and P30 pro, for me, my biggest concern is losing is OIS which is helpful in night mode. Having 5X optical would be nice, but not at the expense of suffering with digital between. The 3X optical is probably more useful. Gaining the headphone jack is great and I prefer not having a curved screen. And I prefer a smaller phone. Though at that point, I start to wonder if I should get a S10.
I owned P20-pro and P30.
Except for battery life and camera, everything else is better with S10.
Camera quality is good enough, but battery life is not good.
Sent from my Galaxy S10 using XDA Labs
Well, they are both OLED's and I think the resolution is "good enough". Both are better than my current phone so I guess I wont know what I'm missing. As for one UI vs EMUI, I'm not certain how much it matters. I use nova launcher + lineage right now. I'm unsure how much I'd be affected by the mfr skin. One HUGE thing is that the S10 series can be rooted, the P series can't even be unlocked let alone rooted. So If I don't like EMUI, I can't just install lineage. More importantly, after 2yrs, if it hasnt been unlocked, I won't be able to prolong the life of the phone by installing a newer UPDATED rom. That is probably the big thing that is making me lean towards the S10 series. The other things all seem minor.
But P30 vs P30 pro, its mainly the camera. In reality, I'm not sure how important all the night shooting is to me. I just know that the most frustrating thing about every past phone camera has been its inability to take a phone when lighting is poor so I'm tempoted to go towards the P30.
P30 is probably the best phone I've ever had but it has few downsides. For example scrolling lag in youtube while watching video, while searching for bluetooth devices(probably software bug that will be fixed in near future). That doesn't bother but autofocus is pretty bad compared to my old s8+. I often get blurry images when taking shot on the go sometimes even on steady shots. It's strange that 2yr old samsung phone can do better autofocus. Phone is super fast with amazing battery life(I don't remember ever getting 7hours SOT on 48hours usage with 10% left), the photos that are not blurry are super gorgeous. Call quality, wifi connection.... are excellent. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase.

128gb, 6gb ram, resolution auto, brightness auto, location on and disabled almost every gestures except do a screenshot with knuckle. System firmware: 9.1.0.178. Mostly using instagram, facebook(and messenger), snapchat, spotify and some not heavy games.
Ok
Do I love this phone? Yes!! It has the performance of a flagship without having an out of this world price. Unfortunately, Huawei support is a cluster****, you need to register your phone with Huawei ID for warranty purpose but there's no link on their Canadian webpage. Also, they advertise support for Huawei Cloud backup but it's unavailable in Canada.
Worst Android device I have owned since 2011, possibly ever
Some phones exhibit choppy scrolling, especially when navigating long web pages when multiple apps are running in the background. Rate this thread to express how you smooth scrolling feels on the OnePlus 7 Pro under such conditions. A higher rating indicates that scrolling is always buttery smooth, even when you're reading a 10,000 word article on "how to kiss a girl".

For those who have a pixel 3 XL and this phone, has the Oneplus 7 Pro reached the fluidity and smoothness levels of Pixel? I know in the past, Oneplus phones have had problems with stuttery scrolling or just not being as smooth as Pixel phones. Is this different with the 7 pro bc of the 90 hz display? Specifically is there an improvement in profile gpu rendering?
It is perfect. I really cannot see any stuttering. And I am veeery picky about that.
I came to this phone from a Razer phone which had a 120hz variable screen.
This screen is great! Best of both worlds, smoothness of 90hz and coloura and brightness of OLED.
It's been the smoothest phone I've seen honestly.
I currently have Pixel 3XL, Samsung s10+ and OnePlus 7 Pro. This 90 refresh rate works wonders.

Easily the smoothest phone I've seen, even compared to the mighty S10. Oxygen OS is seemingly a great version of Android that I'm loving.
This a dream come true...Smooth as Silk!
I've owned every Pixel phone out and this is my first OnePlus device. Honestly, I'd say that OnePlus knocked the stock android experience out of the park. It's as smooth as my Pixel 3 XL, but with 8gb of RAM, there is no stutter or delay. Even when having multiple apps open in the background, then opening the camera to snap a quick photo. I've had my Pixel 3XL straight up take around 8 to 12 seconds to open up the camera app when I attempted to either take a photo or record a video. One time, I had actually started recording a video of a friends surprise birthday party and the video was around 20 seconds in when the camera app just decided to closed out completely, while I was recording, and when I opened it back up, it never saved the video. Needless to say I was pissed. The the overall OS is better than the Pixel. You have native screen recording, scrolling screenshot (something Google claimed could not be implemented in Android Q so it would be put in Android R), and extreme customization options. Honestly the ONLY things that I miss from my Pixel 3 XL are the camera, the smart replies, and the dark themed Google App on the left home screen. the camera alone, is the reason why I keep my P3XL in my work bag. Also, since my OnePlus is the T-Mobile variant, I even have "Chat" functionality in the stock messages app, something that I'm still waiting for to roll out to my Pixel device.
totally. This 90 Hz screen wipes the floor with my Pixel 3 its insane. The experience is way smoother than on a Pixel.

You can get the dark Google app to the left back with rootless Launcher from the play store, just install the "bridge.apk" from the description and then enable the settings by long pressing on the home screen and opening "home settings"

While that's true. Let's not forget its a next gen phone compared to the pixel.
I've had all Pixel and OnePlus phones over the last few years. Let's not forget the Pixel is beast when it works right witch I'll say for me has been just part time. As for OnePlus I haven't had that problem. I've always regretted giving up my OnePlus phone when the Pixel comes out. I can't say the same for going to OnePlus. I have to be fair and say that Pixel camera though? when it works right
Oops I forgot I didn't own the Oneplus 5 or 5T. I also didn't own the smaller Pi El devices just the XLs

In my experience OnePlus phones have kept their performance way past the Pixel phones. Hardware has held up great compared. I can't tell you the frustrations I've had with bugs and returning phones. If you read up in many forums you'll see what I'm talking about. OnePlus lack of a great camera pales in comparison to my frustrations with the Pixel series. I have no brand loyalty either by the way. I've had most flagships including iPhones. Shoot I have the iPad pro and sold my XS Max and Pixel 3 XL recently.
@Reuben_skelz92
yeah, the newer soc probably helps, but I think the 90 Hz screen contributes the most to the buttery smooth scrolling experience. I hope there are more devices in the future with this refresh rate and that they are soon be able to build smaller screens with this tech.

Without the 90Hz i Take it over the #XL or even the 4. Google hasnt shown that their phones are beyond beta projects. I had almost every single phone from them Nexus line- Pixel. as far as I'm concerned Google hardware exists to make other phone manufacturers raise their game.
Hmmm dastest updates but takes forever n a day to address major bugs and to me has more than most others. How can the people that make the OS and do the least modifications be so bad at it. You would think they would run laps around everyone. I think they get a pass in the public because of camera and the fact that reviews go up before these major problems pop up. **** theres been major crap with the cameras going back to the original XL. I.d rather have relaible overall than when it worls right half of the time. It sucks but ill take a crappy camera over that.

I wish I could say the same. I know it's not everyone but to me it's enough people and I've been knee deep in tech before the smartphone boom. You see this from so many people like me and the YouTubers/tech people so many tune into. You don't get a rep for no reason. I never thought I'd be so accepting of a crappy ass camera having 4 kids. Google hasn't given me reason enough to stick with them after a decade of support. I think OnePlus will fix their cameras before Google gets a clue. We will see. I've had over 60 flagships and don't want to keep switching anymore.
As the people who make the os for everyone their phones should be leaps and bounds better in reliability software wise. Hell as big as Google is they need to get hardware problems in wraps too. These aren't the old Nexus days.

Ok so ive always been a Nexus/Pixel guy, Had the Galaxy Nexus Nexus 5 Nexus 6P and Pixel 2 XL (current phone)
Mainly for fast updates
Always get new "Google" features first
Easy Root / Substratum
Buuuuuuut the Pixel 3, 3a Especially the 4, 4A were all a huge MEH and the 5 looks to be the biggest MEH ever.
So ive been looking at the OnePlus 8 Pro looking through the forums it reminds me of the Nexus days with ROMS and Kernals MODs etc.
A few questions though before i pull the trigger (still trying to come to grips with a $900 price tag for a OnePlus)
Ill probably try to use the phone without rooting but most likely end up rooting.
1. Netflix L1/L3 Widevine. Can someone give me a definitive answer as to if we can get HD with unlocked bootloaders. I am getting conflicting info going though the forum. Some posts say NO. Some say they got it working through certain root methods.. Some say they have it working running certain custom roms or custom kernals or Magisk moduals such as XXX No Limits. And them some say that after a certain OP official update that it now works.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8-pro/help/bootloader-widevine-l1-t4092027
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8-pro/help/custom-rom-allow-hd-netflix-rooted-t4092093
2. Notification Light
All my Nexi/Pixels had a notification light and i used Light Manager to make them flash different colors and speeds depending on the app etc.
I know that the OP8 and most phones now a days dont have the light. But i see things like AODNotify do these apps work well? I dont really like AOD and always had it turned off on the pixel.
Any info is appreciated.
I sold my pixel 4xl for the OnePlus 8 Pro. Honestly, I regret it.
Even with gcam the camera doesn't come close. 8 should have waited for the pixel 5 ? I feel like the pixel phones are very simplistic, bit you get a very solid experience with them. I can't stand the curved edges of the op8pro and the camera is worse that what I had before, which kills me. If someone makes a pixel experience ROM I'll be happy but even then I won't be able to install my banks app due to root. The grass isn't always greener, friend.

Yeah the P4XL to me was a step backward. I NEED a finger print reader. Faceunlock is dumb. SOLI or w/e it was called was a huge let down. And it was really the only "new" feature of the phone.
I would normally get a Pixel 5 but sorry a Snapdragon 765G really? And it will still cost probably $800+
I ditched the 3XL for the 8Pro before the payoff date and I don't have regrets. Yeah, the camera was nice but I had other reasons.
I see PE has built a ROM for the Nord but not the 8/8Pro, maybe one is coming......

I had exactly the same thoughts like you, but I came from the Pixel 1.
I didn't regret it one second going to Oneplus 8 Pro!
The updates are quick and much more easy to flash then I used to. Indeed, the phone is larger, but I knew that when I bought it.
First I thought root wasn't necessary but I ended up rooting and, again, it's much easier to do then with the Pixel.
I don't use netflix L1/L3 widevine but there's a thread about it somewhere on this forum
Notification light: there are moreapps but I use aodNotify and it works like a charm. (I have 3% battery consumption over the night, several colors eso) But: that's my experience.
Conclusion: for me it was and still is a go.
I hope it helps you with your decision.
Have already given my thoughts about moving to OnePlus from any other phone from the past or even currently available.
In short, it's a resounding yes.
Nice im sooooooo close to pulling the trigger.
It looks like according to what i can find. That as of update 10.5.10 (i think it was) that with a unlocked bootloader and proper Magisk Hide that you can get L1. And that was my biggest concern.
Sure the camera isnt as good but i dont think i use it enough (or enough where i would really look at the quality of a pic) to worry THAT much. I mainly use it to send a pic via MMS or RCS when i see something interesting at the store and send it to a friend or family member lol.
And i think a Snapdragon 865 and a larger 120hz 1440p display and super fast storage/RAM will suit me better then not those things but a good camera (Pixel 5)
This badboy OnePlus 8 Pro is the sweetest ride... especially on XDA!
I have pulled the trigger and am looking forward to it.
I bought the IN2020 version and was wondering if I'll be missing anything that the global IN2023 has?
Any thoughts?
