heat issues - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Is anyone experiencing heat issues? My phone gets warm to the touch from light web surfing and twitter use. Yesterday my phone overheated when taking pictures and went into some weird safety mode and disabled some features until it cooled down.

Already a thread for this....

Legend Heating Up issue

Hi all,
With continuous use (even 15-20 mins of web browsing) the phone is warming up. The temperature goes as high as 40-42 deg C.
Has any one encountered the same problem?
It gets very irritating that with slight use the device is heating up.
Yes same problem. Maybe due to metal case.
If you read the manual you will see it's clearly stipulated that when the phone is charging or in use for extended periods of time it heats up. Perfectly normal !
Also the heat will dissipate through the aluminum case, which is why the phone feels hot. I have an iPhone 2G and it doe the same thing. Nothing to worry about .

heat and lag problem

does anyone has this kinda problem?? i noticed that every time the temperature id hot, my HD2 is also warm n then comes the lagging problem. but after i turn it off for a couple minutes or to let it cool down, it's working just fine after it's back on.

Galaxy A5 2017 (A520F) overheating issue

Hi guys and girls,
I've got my A5 a few days back, and at start it worked great. I've messed up with a lot of software, tried everything out, and instead of uninstalling everything I thought it'd be best to do a factory reset. That's where my problems started.
While I set up the phone and installed all the apps (updated) that came with the phone, connected to a 100Mbps optical internet via AC wifi, I lost about 15% of battery. Okay, who knows what the phone needed to do, lets move on.
Next day I was just using Whatsapp, messaging with my gf, and the phone was a bit warm with 20-25% brightness (auto-off). The battery temperature was 32-33C, and I used an infrared thermometer and measured 33.5C on the back of the phone at the Samsung logo. Then I just browsed the settings, setting up my phone a bit more, and it was still getting warm, getting anywhere between 31 to 33C on the battery and around 33C with an IR thermometer. I still can't say much about battery drainage but the phone is getting pretty warm even while browsing the web or doing non-intensive tasks.
Does the A5 2017 get warm or is it just me? Should I RMA it?
Have a520f, 33C is near average. But it's also dependent on the weather. Fast charging or charging with the screen off will raise it. If it wasn't always like that, maybe something in the background is using the CPU, checking for updates or notifications. The CPU/GPU is like a car engine, running at various 'speeds' and 'weights it is carrying', and it does get warm. Only if it gets hot, then it's a problem. Many apps could do those checks once the screen is turned on. Uninstalling/changing settings will only help with battery life (percent drain), the temperature is ok. The a520f (and a510f) also has touchboost, temporarily raising the CPU clock when the screen is touched. Might be noticeable with background tasks while using a keyboard.
Thanks friend. Didn't know about "Touchboost", you opened it up for me a bit there.
While the screen is off, It's perfectly fine. Once I take it in my hands, it starts to get warm around the Samsung logo. It's probably screen + apps + nowhere to dissipate heat, but I wasn't noticing it at start. I've only had it for a couple of days now. I don't know about the battery drainage, with a charge lasting me ~40hrs with 7h SOT I wouldn't say it's draining at all - though my screen is at low brightness, 1/4 max.
Just wanted to see what you other guys are getting as I thought it was high. My ambient is around 24-25C all year long. I've seen tests where people weren't getting more than 30C at all, but as you said, it's the ambient that dictates that.
Idk if this is only with mine but sometimes I turn the phone off completely and put it to charge and it happens that it can reach like 35°C without touching it. Now the phone is plugged, I only browse with chrome facebook.. and it is like 37°c. That can happen when it is not plugged too. Using wifi seems to be better though.
I dont think I have an important battery drain because it can last about 6-8h SOT normal usage.
Onr other thing, when I turn on the mobile hotspot, the battery drains way more than usually and heats up too.

Mate 9 Random Reboots and wrong battery level

Hello all,
Recently, since about a week, i've been experiencing sudden random reboots. Often when starting apps (especially the Camera is a real culprit here, but also Google Photo's). When entering pin-code all seems fine again. and sometimes i can just use the camera like normal. But sometimes it keeps rebooting and the only way to stop it is to quickly turn off battery saver (seems a solution till now for a while)
Searching online didn't really help much, as i found a few people with the same issue end of march also on Oreo update, but no solution yet.
Also the battery indicator seems off. it often drains reaallly slow (85% at the end of the day) and then at a random percentage (like 60%) just turns off. When turning it back on it only has 3%. So it could be battery related.
What i tried:
- Let the phone drain completely, then recharge to 100% overnight.
- Remove all apps installed in the last few weeks + all unnecessary apps.
I don't want to do a factory reset, because our IT then has to set up the Authenticator again which is a pain for them (and i already had them do that a few weeks ago  )
Any tips on how to troubleshoot some more or more people seeing this behaviour?

That sounds kind of like a battery that's failing.
What's the age of the phone? And did you primarily use Huawei's supercharge brick or other methods / chargers? (I ask the second, because charging at 4.5A can be bad for the battery on a regular basis.)
I'd load up something like Ampere and watch the charge / discharge rates. I'd expect a normal discharge rate around 150-350mA, but it depends a lot on what you're doing. (GPS and moderate graphics will keep it up in the 800mA-1A discharge range, the rear camera with just the viewfinder seems to push 1.2A current draw.)
I'll give Ampère a try. I used both chargers but the phone is just over a year old. Nothing to warrant a bad battery already.
Besides that, recent discoveries lead to believe slow charging could actually cause more heat and be worse for battery. But again: it's a bit soon for something like that I think. I'll try Ampère first. But i doubt that's the issue.
I've noticed my phone gets toasty when fast charging. If it's hooked up to any charger other than Huawei's, it tends to stay cool.
And it happened again. More then 50 percent and then it turned off and only had 3 percent
Dead battery I guess?

That's what it looks like to me.
Fortunately, the batteries aren't that expensive to find (Google popped up a bunch for <$20), and actually getting in isn't too difficult either, if you want to swap it yourself.
Just to close this topic properly:
The issue got worse, but i was on holiday. Ordered a new battery with a toolkit to replace the battery for 30 euro's.
When i got back from my holiday i notices the battery had already pushed the screen loose. So getting the screen off was easy. Swapped the battery in just 5 minutes and now everything is working great again. The screen used to have some bright spots and those are gone aswell. I guess it was a giveaway of things to come.
Thanks for the help!

Extreme overheat issues

Hi, I'm experience extreme overheat on times, phone is very hot including screen and glass in the back of the phone. I was downloading just a movie using bit torrent and YouTube. Nothing else. I don't use any background processes apps only basic Facebook, messenger etc. Also with overheat I experience screen burn in, but it fades away after powering phone off. I'm using dot is 2.5 and mods I use is viper for android and Magisk(For root purposes and for Viper).
Also sometimes its just starts randomly heating up in my pocket while using nothing and WiFi, cellular data, Bluetooth etc. off. It annoys me because it kills so much battery.
If feel like someday the battery inside will just explode due to the overheat.
With CPU z I got almost everywere 50-65C° temperature. Is there any solutions you can give me?
Also my warranty is voided due to the drop what cracked the back glass.
I'm also experiencing heat which i don't know why!
