Keep calm and hope

Hey there, it's been a while since my last post.
This is what happened to me:
my (beautiful, beloved, perfectly tuned, 3-months-old) Moto G decided to shut itself off about 10 days ago and never come back alive.
It's likea brick, no fastboot or recovery mode, just a "blink" of the led the moment I plug it into charge.
I've sent the phone to Motorola, I hope they could fix it.
My Moto is unlocked and rooted, I don't know if this can be a problem for the warranty... I hope not, because I think the issue is absolutely not related with rootingor so.
I'll keep you posted.
A hug from my old phone (Xperia mini pro)
I think that as you are in EU, unlocked bootloader is not a problem.
Knowing how it turns out will be interesting though, as EU legislation is open to interpretation. So yes, please keep us posted, and meanwhile: good luck
I'm sorry to say, but your warranty is definitely void.
Quoted from the Bootloader Unlocked Warning:
"Your device's bootloader has been unlocked, allowing critical software components to be altered in a manner that may cause damage to the device or result in injury to users.
Motorola disclaims any liability for harm to person or property resulting from use of this device. Except for Developer Edition devices, all warranties are null and void."
Will definitely be following your story though. Would like to know what happens next. Keep us posted!
Should've just simply hold power for 2 minutes while plugged in on a power source, the battery is most likely dry.

Same thing happened to mine a while ago... one day i had like 15% battery and put it to the charger during the night, next morning it was shut off.. I tried to start it and the only thing that would show up was the 0% battery screen... eventually i tried and got into the bootloader screen, and pluged it into my pc inhopes to reflash the stock rom cuz i thought it was some kind of software related problem, but by plugging it in during bootloader i noticed it didnt even recognise my pc and it didnt charge up. But now all it does is blink the led when plugged in... and when it is plugged into my pc i can hear the sound of something being plugged in and out over and over again..
I already contacted Amazon UK and got a replacement, didnt even contact Motorola cuz they have no stores in Portugal...
I think it must be some software problem or maybe micro-usb related problem... or even the battery being dry..
Ah by the way i tried lots of thing and none worked like holding power while conected, holding power and vol-down..
So if you cant even get in the bootloader screen i dont think you have to worry about warranty, cuz there is no way to access the phone..
Sorry for my bad english...

That's the motorola warranty, the European warranty over rides that and is for two years.

My dearest,
of course I tried this procedure. No luck.
Hi,
Hope the best for you & your beloved...
Use my tutorial on "android original development" to recover the bootloader, if is loaded like "qusb_bulk" on the pc (check this) the tutorial allow you to recover it
okay i got it working....
plug your phone into charger (not usb pc port).
wait until the display goes black.
press volume-down and power the same time AND hold it for 3 second
release both
If you are now on the bootloader/fastboot screen next step, if not redo until you are
do not do anything just wait and let the device charge // or // press normal bootup
My phone booted after 5 min with 3 % battery.

UPDATE:
HORRIBLE NEWS
They call me, they have fixed the MOTO G, but they found out it's ROOTED and UNLOCKED = warranty void.
I have to pay 91 euros if I want the phone back.
10 euros must be payed in any case.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
91 it's a lot, I payed it 170 three months ago.
It's very very frustrating, Motorola.

I'd pay if I were you 'cus I love my phone. But could you enquire them about the european warranty thing.
Also ask them what was wrong, maybe its something you could fix yourself if they havent already fixed it.
You should have asked around a bit before you sent your phone to moto.
You were one the first ppl to reply to my thread in the moto g section. So, I remember you

They have proofs that damage is caused by root/unlock?
I think not.
The first year is covered by seller. Where you bought it?

Well they specifically warn you that your warranty is void if you ask for the unlock code, regardless of the damage.

I bought it on Amazon marketplace, they cover 3 months, then it's Motorola.
Of course they don't have any proofs, but they play dirty with the rooting thing :/

I'm pretty sure the damage isn't related with the rooting... But you're right, the warranty is void indeed.

Second bootloop

Hi guys.
So i got yesterday my second bootloop.
My phone was repaired under warranty 2 months after i purchased it. And now the exact same behaviour after 1 year and 2 months .
Going to give it again for repair but honestly i am pissed about the poor job LG did....
So no LG for me again. Hope you who repaired it don't get it again, but i know for sure there will be second and third for sure.
P.S: Bootloader locked, stock
My replacement boot looped today. Lasted one month. Same way as the last one, while trying to call out.

Thats the thing. No matter replaced or swapped motherboard the bootloop is around the corner.
Brutal to hear that it's still occurring. I got mine fixed under warranty with a diff motherboard in it now. Seems like nothing is safe at all from LG
I have the bootloop problem too but i can't repair it under warranty because my model is Taiwanese and I live in Europe so I said screw you and I just use my cell without the 2 big cores. It works perfectly until now, and if one day it will not work anymore I'm going to just by a new phone, probably a Xiaomi.
What SN was it? If this was 5xx it's normal that it would bootloop, 6xx doesn't(so far no one reported that his/her 6xx has bootlooped)

Quick update on my phone.
After three weeks i got it back. Not to mention that the repair centre accessed my Google account... That's another story.
I tried to set my phone up but every 2-3 minutes the brightness goes from 40% to 100% and back. The phone didn't detect 2,4Ghz router only 5Ghz.
Losses the setting every time i go back.
After three times of hard reset i gave up.
Send it back again.
Really it is annoying to deal with this anymore.
mine is 602, never bootlooped since the first day i used it. maybe it was a "luck"..

How long have you been using the phone with the big cores disabled? How's the performance after the cores disabled?
Mine bootlooped because I got it too close to the fire. Running on 4 cores too. But using my old reliable Redmi 1S as backup. Not trusting LG G4 anymore.
I have 4 motherboards, I have gone through the 508, 604, 607 and now 609. It is a disaster LG, I will never buy anything from this brand again.

It's been almost 2 months. NO problem so far. They only thing that bothers me is that every time I reboot the phone I have to manually enable the cores, I hope to find a way to make the 4 cores work permanently

How do you manually enable the cores? I have flashed the core disabling fix but haven't had to restart my phone yet. And I still have the first four cores enabled instead of just the first one. Is this the same on your phone too?

When I did the big core disabling fix I had all the 4 cores enabled but when you reboot your phone you'll have only one of the 4 cores enabled. To enable the other 3 your phone must be rooted, and you have to go sys/devices/system open the online file that is located in the folders cp1/cpu2/cpu3 and change its content from 0 to 1
Well, since i had my G4 on service for 2 times now, i actually hope it bootloops again, because than i will recieve new phone (or so i was told last time).

Hello!
Well, that sounds like an issue which can be fixed at a service. In my opinion, you should go with it at Huawei`s service.

Agreed. If your phone is less than a week old, you could possibly have it replaced at the store you bought it from.

Network cutting out issue - two phones in a row

Hey all! Firstly, thanks in advance for any help or guidance. I have had two 6p's, and i love them. I don't even want any other phone.. But there is this issue where the network will cut from LTE down to no service and you cannot fix it without restarting the phone. It starts off slow, maybe once a day.. then it starts happening more and more, till its unusable. Has anyone else experienced this? I have tried returning it to factory and everything. Google store replaced it once, but that was it, now they say they won't replace it again because it's outside the 3 month warranty :/\
small edit:
Just talked to Huawei tech support to try and get it replaced.. Long story short, they wont, but at the end of the call, the guy talked all quietly and told me "If you get another one of these, do not install the updates for it!" he then went on to telling me that it is only suppose to work in Europe right now and the phone is not capable of supporting it for the US. He didn't go into too much more detail other than that, but i found it kind of funny and odd...

i have had this problem too it was always fixed by reflashing the factory image just follow this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928 its guide 10 and 11, also the 6p does not have a 3 month warranty it has a 1 year warranty so you can tell google that also i think it has a 15 month warranty from huawei

the device was given to me as a replacement device. replacement devices are 90 days. Funny part is, huawei pulled up the warranty and the phone google sent me, had an expired manufactures warranty by the time i got it ha.
same exact issues? it would just show no service from LTE and wouldn't come back unless restarting eh? Ill try the guide you posted. thanks!

yes same issue it would show a little x.
but the replacements should not void the rest of your warranty is that a new thing i rmaed my nexus 6 like 6 times over the whole life of the warranty they never reset my 1 year warranty or told me once you get this rma you only have 90 day thats junk i would just tell them your original warranty is still valid if you need rma but reflash will probably fix it
Just wanted to give a small update--I tried going back to factory using the latest factory images found in the link/thread above. That did not work for me, I still had the same issues. So, following the warning from the huawei rep, I tried factory images from the last 6.0.1 version... This worked for me. I ran it for a day with no issues until I thought I would try running an updated 7.1.2 custom ROM (SAOSP) with the latest bootloader but keep the old 6.0.1 radio.... This has been working for a solid day so far. I hope this has been the fix and I hope it helps someone else. I have noticed no decrease in network strength compared to before the issues started .
Last note: it might be in my head, but I have noticed a decrease in phone temperature (physically) , since using the old radio.

Just flashed back to the old radio not not because of losing signal but the cooler running you mentioned. Playing videos in chrome makes it go nuclear hot, been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why hopefully this helps. Thanks

Sounds like you have Sprint

Screen went 1970's ....

Ok The MZF is not mine but my dad's I've got a normal Z from the EU, he got his direct from Moto USA ... Any ways this is the third time his MZF has gone bad the screen goes all white static like back in the day... The first two Moto fixed but now they say the Garantie is up from when he first baught the MZF... Dad don't mess with root or anything so full stock and he takes good care of it . Anybody else have or seen this issue ? I've had no probs with my eu version Moto z ...
Thanks 4 any info...
