Galaxy S10+ (Exynos) Moisture has been detected error - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Been facing this issue for over a month now, tried every solution available on the internet, drying, cleaning the port, alcohol, clearing cache, etc etc etc
Even after i recieved the update to android 10 it didn't fix the issue...
I asked samsung they told me backup the device and leave it, and they will try changing the charger port and format it and see if it works (yes they are guessing), and since my warranty had expired i will be paying for it of course..
Glad i have a wireless charger for now ...
But had anyone faced the same issue ? And what have you done to fix it?
Should i try hard resetting the device?View attachment 4981413

Don't worry !
1. Turn off your phone
2. Plug the charger
3. Turn on the phone with charger connected
?

Tried that already didn't work

Had this error on my S7, S8 (Both Exynos if it matters). Ended up selling both because of same issue. Now I fear same for My S10+ Exynos.
S7 one plainly refused to work no matter what I did.
S8 one however used to work fine If I placed it on charge during safe (boot) mode. Have you tried doing same for S10+?

Tried that also, didn't work

I had the same error. It won't let you charge or do anything else with cable. Like you I tried all the solutions mentioned in the internet. None of them will work. This is a software bug that is delivered to my by Feb Update. There are ways you can charge the phone via USB Cable if you turn off the phone and and plug in the cable while holding power and volume down key. My problem was bit strange as well even in Download mode, My PC/ Mac would not detect the phone. Even when the phone was working in normal mode PC would not detect it. I has to uninstall the third party apps which solve the PC problem.
I did go through Samsung online chat help. All they do is tell you the same thing that you can on the internet and what you have already done.
If you can install the Stock Rom version that was released recently that has solved my problem. For carrier specific updates I believe you have to wait a bit longer.
Here is my forum post for which I sought help for.

Has any one actually verified that there port is clean. Type C ports are tendant to collect pocket lint and debris then get pack in daily. This debris will actually retain moisture.
The bottoms of the ports should be silver metal. If you can't see metal plating it's dirty. I would try cleaning my ports with say a fine sewing needle and check that as well.

Try this hopefully it works.
To clear the warning
Go to settings
Go to apps
Click the three dots in the top right
Click show system apps
Scroll down to USB settings app
Once open click on storage
Click both clear storage, and clear cache
Restart your phone
Moisture warning should be gone.

I literally tried everything on google, youtube, this thread, xda
Nothing worked until i got the update 2 days ago

Nothing helps for me, I have moisture error 4 months all the time. I tried everytyhing:, vol down power and cable combination, clear usb settings, system android etc, I opened the phone, tried to drying usb port and all motherboard with dryer, nothing helps, also i changed firmware by odin, still no results.

If this error does not go away after cleaning the port, then you need to have the port replaced. No other way around it.

I'm having this "Moisture detected" problem with my S10e for about a month. Tried every solution I found on the web and nothing worked.
What worked for me: Connecting the phone to a USB-C PD charger (or USB-C on PC) this didn't make the annoying alarm to sound but also won't charge, reset the phone while USB-C charger connected, "moisture detection error" disappeared. Connect USB-A charger and it will charge.
I don't know why now it charges only via USB-A. Probably because USB-C uses another charging algorithm.

Big voice talk problem and car mode notification

Ok so maybe I spoke too soon. Yesterday I was telling my brother that the Note is the most reliable phone I've ever owned.....then....
I started having issues with charging. My Note would not charge, then it would change after several resets. It would charge, then stop, then start again etc etc....making a lot of beeping noises.
Now, it seems to be charging, but Voice talk keeps loading, and I've turned off the home key activation option. I also get the notification icon saying to disable car mode.
I really hope someone can help, thanks in advance.
kris
Great, now it's not charging, again!
Actually when I get the notification issue from Voice talk, the battery starts charging for a second until the notification disappears and stops charging....
Now factory reset my phone again and charging worked while restarting and restoring but when loaded the voice talk app keeps coming up and going off, so I have a black flashing screen constantly....gonna try restarting/reset without restoring...
Hi leicashot, this shouldn't happen. Which firmware version are you currently running? I recommend installing the latest LB1 stock, unless you have AT&T Note.
Some users have reported similar symptoms when there was dust in the mini usb port. Try cleaning the device, and if all else fails, you should send it back to Samsung for repair.

I'm using the latest 2.6.35.7. Any idea how to try clean the port? Definitely seems like something is wrong with the port....
No charging issues for me but my Note started doing the driving mode thing at about 3am today and has been doing it on and off all day!
Exceedingly annoying!
are you trying to charge from a PC or a wall outlet?
I usually charge via mains but it wasn't charging or even plugged in at the time this started happening. It was just sitting on the table by my bed. I even powered it off but it switched itself back on!
Here is how to fix it.
Take out the battery and take a plastic edge like credit card or even a regular tiny small screwdriver and push the pins (strip) inside the phone. I mean, to take the screw driver and push in the pins back inside the phone, in inside the usb charging port. your problem will disappear. make sure your plastic flexible after-market phone cover has a big enough hole at the bottom to allow you to connect a usb cable easily to the phone, or else, cut open a bigger hole on the cover.
Good luck
so here it is again: you have to push in the usb port pins back inside the phone, straight in without bending them. you can also buy a usb charging port from ebay for 22 bucks and change it yourself in 10 minutes. its a hardware problem so stop resetting your phone.
Nop bro i dont think so, cuz it happened same with me sometime after i bought galaxy note same thing happened with me too. I mean exactly same. So before i didnt knew rooting and flashin roms and all so i gave to service centre and they put newer version of ron in it and my problem was fixed after that.

Indeed. I remain convinced this is not hardware and is software related. The main reason for my thoughts there are that as well as the driving mode thing it seems that some piece of software is trying to load up as it asks me if I want to run whatever it is in either Clock or TuneIn Radio. Bizarre. Also, the first time it happened it was bang on 3am. Everytime I turned the phone off it would come back on exactly two minutes later.
The second night it started doing it bang on 1am.
I'm waiting to see what time it starts tonight.
It doesn't (so far) do it at all during the day.
Going to give it a couple of days to see what happens then go figure out how to go back to a factory ROM rather than the the Rocket 22 I have on here now.

Same thing is happening to me. I tried pushing the USB pins in slightly. I'll let you guys know if it helped or not.

I've been having the same problem for a few days now.
I've just pushed the pins in with the corner of my charging cables connector and the problem stopped.
There was also a notification that flashed up saying something like: USB connector or device removed.
Voice talk is still managing to launch itself, even after pushing the pins in. I'm on stock LB2 so maybe I've finally found a reason to flash a GB rom?
Happened to me yesterday. Got a toothbrush and cleaned usb port on phone. Now seems ok

USB_OTG - Help Please

Hi Guys
I have suddenly started to notice a process called USB_OTG that is killing my battery. It is taking up to 90% of the charge and I don't know how to stop it. I have tried doing a android backup to a time that this wasn't causing an issue yet it is still there
I can't connect my device to my pc/mac to transfer files and most of the time it won't even recognise that I have plugged a charger in
Can someone please help as this is driving me insane
Turning off your phone, then on, should be enough to get rid of it. It's a known bug of the system, it goes berserk at times after using the USB connection.

I have had this for over a week where i have turned off, done a battery pull and still can't seem to shift the issue
is it possibly kernel related?
Just done full wipe and installed a rom i have never used before and still have the same issue. cant connect to usb, won't transfer data when debugging is on or off. does it sound like a warranty issue and should be put back to stock?
don't want to use odin and increase the counter though
gone back to stock and still having the same error. is my phone officially knackered?
Look into the USB receptacle in your phone. Is there dirt or are the pins twisted and in contact? From what you described, it might be that your Note thinks there is a USB device connected, and that might stem from some kind of contact from pins...
Ernesto de Bernardis
[from my Galaxy Note]
USB on the go mode is when your phone is trying to change from a USB "slave" to a USB "host".
A normal phone should always be in "slave" mode, that is when you plug it into your computer you can do kies and all that stuff.
If you plug in a special cable, your phone will detect this and try to go into "Host" mode where it can connect to a USB stick or a USB mouse.
This special cable works by shorting two of the pins on your USB connector together that normally aren't shorted.
So in short, with what you describe it appears that dust, corrosion, or debris or other hardware failure has caused the phone to incorrectly think those pins are shorted together when they are not.
Look at it under good light and magnification. Clean it with alcohol. Good luck.
everything looks fine, can't see any debris or damage on it. don't think the usb will be covered under warranty either looks like i may be phone less

If you are desperate and it is not covered by warranty, you should in theory be able to open up the phone and cut the trace / wire that leads from the ID pin back into the USB chip. You would lose OTG capability forever but it would solve your battery problem.
David
Why? USB OTG is an advertised feature, so I guess should be covered by warranty.

i've also run into this problem. Phone wouldn't be able to go to deep sleep after using usb otg. Turned the phone off and back on fixed it. Kind of annoying.
running franco 9 on checkrom 6
I had this problem as well. Cleaning and pushing pins were only temporary fixes for me. And it just got progressively worse after awhile. So I went back to the place I bought it and they sent it in for service. It was covered by my warranty apparently, one week later I got it back, fit for fight. Remember to go back to stock though

think it will be a warranty job. will have to send direct to samsung so hope it isnt away too long. will call them tomorrow as still wont charge when turned on and sometimes sits there saying its charging even with no usb in it

That is further evidence that USB is screwed up and should be covered by warranty. Good luck.

Not sure if this link will work since I'm a new member here, but you could try this :
add a http here: forumDOTxda-developersDOTcom/showthread.php?t=1329360. Disregard this link if you didn't use that method to root it though. As you might suckerpunch your phone into oblivion
Also, I cleaned the usb port with alcohol/Nail polish and a toothbrush to temporarily enable it to connect to my computer(Let it dry for at least 20 mins after). I am no expert at any of this though, so before you trust too much in my advice, you should go search around the forums for confirmation.
Any more ideas how i can unroot as my phone wnt connect to a PC via USB so need to do it all on the phone. Think I am screwed

[Q] Note 3's note charging/connecting to a PC

Hi,
My brother has a Galaxy Note 3 (the LTE version. N9005) which has been brilliant up until just now, where it can't charge nor connect to a PC.
He's tried using both the microUSB 3.0 cable that came with it - both connecting to a computer and to charge - as well as a microUSB 2.0 cable to charge... Neither has worked.
He's on stock, no rooting whatsoever (not that kind of person).
Is this a hardware problem or is there anything that could solve this before we send it off to warranty?
Any answers are greatly appreciated...
UPDATE: Its suddenly charging again... But we'll see what happens... In the meantime, can anyone offer an explanation?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk HD
I have the same problem with the phone not being recognised by the computer or charger. Strange thing is that the computer recognises the phone in download mode via odin (an kies for a while). And it has been charging while in download mode connected to kies or odin.
I initially thought it was a bad third party rom i had downloaded and tried to change to another rom. It was back to charging for a bit and then after a day stopped again. Tried to reset to factory rom and bricked the phone in the process (as stupidly checked reactivation lock and clicked a wrong button when titanium backup asked if I wanted to restore the previous id - spent 2 days to unbrick it.....
But now I'm back to the phone not being able to charge or being recognised by the computer. Even the OTG cable isn't recognised. HELP pleaseeee someone. First issue with a Galaxy since the S3/S4/Note1/Note2.
Any thoughts as to what the issue could be? Someone mentioned that it could be a setting in phoneutils menu (if USB set to modem it wont recognise - has to be set to PDA). But the *#7284# command doesnt seem to work on the Note 3. Does anyone know how to invoke the phone utility menu?
I might have to take it back to Samsung - only that I have rooted it and knox shows it!!
Update :
I sent the device into the service centre this morning and explained the problem. The guy at the counter didn't bat an eye while telling me its likely a usb port problem and that he would try to check it and get it turned around within a day. When I asked him if others had similar problems, his response seemed to indicate that it wasn't an uncommon problem. They even had plenty of spares for the port.
I got a text within 2 hours telling me that the unit was fixed. They didn't give me any hassle about the unit being rooted but I guess with a hardware issue, it shouldn't have mattered anyway.
So far so good with the unit. Just thought I'd update you guys.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but is it just a hardware problem then?
The phone suddenly started charging again shortly after your reply, so we didn't have this problem for months.
The phone got repaired after quite a bad incident, and now its not charging or connecting to a PC again.
There's a Samsung service centre down the road from where I am so we're planing on going tomorrow. Just wanted to see whether it was hardware or software related...

Galaxy S8 will not connect to PC to transfer files / USB debug / ADB

Following on from another thread I posted about problems after updating to Android 8.0.
I have now discovered that I cannot actually connect my device to any PC / laptop.
When I do, it either doesn't register as being connected, on either the laptop nor the S8 (doesn't charge) or I get a pop up telling me its slow charging and I do not see it within Windows.
This means I cannot transfer files from device to device nor run any adb commands, which, oddly, id like too.
Has anyone else seen this?
Ive tried many things, including:
reboot S8
clear caches on S8
tried different USB cables
tried different usb ports
tried a different windows machine
changed settings in S8 developer options (set to MTP transfer)
update windows drivers
uninstall and re-install Samsung drivers on windows machine
Nothing seems to work anymore.
Occasionally if I plug it into my Windows machine, Windows gives me some sort of error message about the device not working correctly and so cannot be used?
Any help would be much much appreciated, as my device is no bordering on being completely useless.
And the Samsung customer / tech support is literally THE worst I have ever experienced.
Thanks

and today I woke up to a moisture detected notification...so cannot cable charge at all now.
My S8 has never even been close to liquid of any kind, always kept in a fitbag sleeve case, inside my pocket.
F**k this phone and F**k Samsung and their crappy Android update.
A crazy expensive device that is now rendered pretty much useless due to their last update
to summarize, following the Oreo update:
- cannot cable charge at all now
- previously could only slow charge via cable, fast charge would not work
- cannot connect S8 to any other PC / laptop to transfer files
- battery life is absolute garbage - need to charge 2 times a day at least
- WiFi is laggy, slow and drops connection
- Some of my Cast devices (Google Home and Chromecast) are not seen by the S8 - have to disconnect and reconnect to Wifi several times
- pretty sure the phone is randomly rebooting (every so often I'm asked for my PIN rather than biometrics)
Last update 10.05.18 - G950FXXU1CRD7
Im sooooo glad I have 1.5 years left on my contract with this phone....

Took it into my providers (EE in the UK) store, and they were about as useful as a chocolate fireguard..."have you tried turning it of and on again innit"....
after lengthy discussions, in which I explained more than they did, it has been sent for repair.
Could take up to 14 days, depending on the fault.
From what I can gather by Google fu, the moisture alert is a common fault, and ive come to the conclusion that Samsung f**ked up the Oreo update / roll out, but are burying their heads and forcing the carrier providers to take the brunt of the complaints from the end user.
Bad form Samsung, BAD FORM
I think this S8 will be my last Samsung device. Ever.

How can I fix my phone?
Do you know what is my problem?

The issue is solved only partially because if you restart the phone it shows Firmware Update screen and only when you spray alcool into plug charger and you try many times plugging the charger that you can boot the phone fine.
Anyway I get many errors and I can't create sms and WhatsApp backups...
Anyway I think that it's a hardware failure...

My one is AME. I have the same problem and the hand sanitizer fixes the problem for temporary amazingly.

Do you say for truth? Even if you use the battery of phone? I'll try it too....
Edit: well done my friend! Now that I've just arrived on my house I've tried to spray a parfume on charging plug and when I've plugged the charger I saw battery icon, then "Erasing" and now I'm in Android is upgrading!
I can't believe it!
Thank you a lot my friend and when you come in Italy you've a good pizza paid!

What causes this to work? I just tried this and it worked
How do you even figure something like this out? Insane.
First of all i didnt belive it at all but after flashing and reading 2days give it a try. Procedure is simple put usb type c cable in some alchohole connect chager in wall and connect phone and voila erasing and restarting thanks everybody on this trade.
This is one of the strangest technical things ever happened to me and I'm an engineer - the spraying works! After many hours of trying to solve the problem in whatever way offered or conceived I said what the hell let's spary. I suspect that maybe the spraying shortcuts the connectors or adjacent circuit for a short time and makes some effect otherwise I have no logical explanation to the fact that it works.

but finally I found the solution >> just by applying a spray or perfume on the site of charging plug and it work every time

I wonder how did you find about this. Not having the issue, just interested.
Lol! I have an LG tablet that was stuck on 910k b0 firmware update screen. Tried 3 shots of hand sanitizer spray, did the shut down with POWER + Volume down button for 5 seconds, plugged back the power, and now it is charging properly. Either the connection was dirty, either the battery was so dead, i dont care, the spray worked... I thought it was a joke but i was so desperate that i tried it. Thanks for posting that solution !
Just made an account on this random ass website (I've actually seen it before but I have no care to be here...) to say thanks and that this trick worked for me.
I left my phone outside in the cold and I came back to this exact error. In WTF mode i searched it on google and found this post. This worked. Not exactly sure what's going on here lmao. My battery is dead though I am charging it now, I suspect this is part of the reason why.
I am a regular person and this random trick actually worked. What are you smoking LG?????
