How do I get rid of this "Call Ended" notification which pops up for a number of seconds after either I or the other party hang up?
My PH-! had the latest FEb 2020 update, and this started happening. The carrier is Verizon who of course never supported the PH-1.
A Screen shot is attached. You can see that it blocks access to some of the apps on the bottom of the screen, while it exists.

Can't do anything about it on stock...
And no... It doesn't block access to the screen... Just visually... Toast messages do not affect usability below them

Android has had these toasts for ages, you probably just haven't noticed them as they are normally brief. As Rignfool says, you can't stop them on stock. If they are more noticeable now is that because they stay on screen longer eg 5sec maybe the setting has somehow changed, you can go settings> accessibility> time to take action, and ensure it is set to default fur the shortest possible time, but that's it.
Thank you, I'm giving that a try. Found that it was set to 30 sec. Don't know how that setting got changed.

Driving me crazy. The screen lock insists on activating immediately after a call, necessitating a swipe to make a follow on call. SE support says that the phone does not do this. Am I missing something simple? Screen timeout is set loooooong.
mine does it too very annoying.... dont think anything can be done
You could switch the time out off completely.. that might work (I haven't tried it.. it's just a theory)..you can still lock the screen manually with the button on the top.
No it does not - set screen not to lock and the lock happens after the call . What bugs me is that SE says it does not happen! I wonder if they have the same phone
yes, it's an annoying issue. i tried a few apps including "no lock", "lockbot" etc. None worked well with my X10.
i have the same problem. after a call the screen locks. sometimes the screen even locks DURING a call
WTF!!!!!!!!!
Same over here. Lockbot latest version claimed they handled the issue of not opening the notification bar, but that's not true. After installing their latest version it was still not working. Ashame, because further on the program works quite well, and I really liked some themes of them.
So I am stuck to with this problem...
(Sorry for the not very helpful post, just wanted to know I am not happy with this too...)
Cheers,
Arnold
Hi - I'm not having this problem.. (so you're wondering why I'm posting? is it just to show off??!!)...
No.. I was wondering how many of you have task managers running? I've stopped using them, about 3 weeks ago and my phone has run much more smoothly since..
Something to try perhaps?
No task manager just a bleedin' scree lock that operates at the end of a call!!!!!!!!! VERY annoying - almost as bad as no bluetooth phonebook protocol but I have got over that for now.
Ice, if your phone does not do this what settings have you got in display eyc that may have affected the situation. Is it a branded phone? could that be it?
try "no lock", it works well on my X10i.
Except it appears to make the phone 'live' in your pocket as accidentally pressing a button lights up the screen and enables dialling to New York (other places are available) Not convinced.

'Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson support centre.
Unfortunately there is no way to stop the handset locking when you have finished on a call, we offer apologies for any inconvenience this may cause'
Thank you SE. This after a month of telling me that it does not happen and that my handset is faulty!
Every once in a while for the past month or two, when I receive a call, my X10 will vibrate and ring as normal, but the screen will be blank rather than presenting the caller ID and call answer buttons. Sometimes when this happens, it'll eventually show up, while other times I simply get a FC message regarding the phone app.
In the time since I first experienced this, I have upgraded my stock 014 firmware to 016 through SEUS via Rogers, and then this past weekend I rooted the phone to R2BA023, and yet it still happens.
I have disabled both Facebook and Twitter sync in the settings panel, and have tried changing my ringtone all to no avail.
Has anyone else experienced something similar, and maybe know what may be causing this?
I'm going to attempt some testing with various 3rd-party apps uninstalled, to see if it may be some sort of conflict, but I find it odd this has persisted through firmware updates and complete OS re-install (root).
Hi - Yes I've had this happen too.. not very often, but seems to be when I'm in the middle of doing something else.. Think it was when I was in Handscent SMS when it happened today.
Same it happen to me, i just beat on it until it blink up the damn slide. Which 9 out of 10, i will miss the call thanks to the stupid slide still being as slow as before the update.
OT (so apologies)... my swipe is super fast since the update... Are you running any task killers or anything.. (I'm not...)..

I generally do, but it still pisses me off. I have a feeling it's just SE's version of the phone app, but I can't be sure.
I'm using Phonebook 2.0 as an alternate contact manager, but calls still come through the default phone app, and I'm not sure if there's a way to change that without a custom ROM.

Yeah have noticed this issue sometimes. I am on generic R2BA020 uk firmware.
When the phone rings, the screen lights up but I cant answer cause the screen is a Blank blue screen for like 5-8 seconds. After which the slider pops up allowing me to answer. Never had this problem on the older firmware.
I dont use a task killer or handcent.
I Odin-ed the JK6 update and when i look under status, it said "unknown" under Phone number. Does this happen to everyone too?
Another thing i found is that the menu button's vibration feed back is laggy. Like i would press the button then it would vibrate shortly after. For the other three buttons it would vibrate upon pressed. Is this a new thing in Froyo? I dont recall Eclair behave like this.
Also, does anyone having battery issue with JK6? Mine seem to drain a bit quicker than when i was running JI6.
the leak is buggy,
let's just wait for the official one, it should be soon..

Mine shows "unknown" for the phone #. I'm running pure stock JI6, so this issue is not specific to JK6. I don't use key vibrate (seems like a battery drain to me) so can't comment on that.
Edit: I don't check this very often, so took a look and now mine is showing the #. I know it was "unknown" for a month or two after I got the phone at the end of July, but there was a period where it did show the #, then the JI6 update seemed to set it back to unknown. Now the # is back. No idea what would make it toggle like that.
I don't see why this is so "huge" that everyone mentions the Unknown under your phone number...? It doesn't affect anything. MMS isn't affected by this.
Anywho, Slight lag in the applications drawer though but it's very subtle and the issues with MMS picture quality (but hopefully that's fixed after Froyo is "Officially" released.
One more thing, last night I was on EDGE and pulled the status bar down to activate Wifi. It just said "ON" underneath it and didn't do anything, so I went into the settings and looked and stated "ERROR". Tried again to activate it and it didn't do anything, actually locked the phone for a few seconds then the phone started vibrating when I touched the screen. After that I got back to the Settings menu and activated Wifi again and it went through.. weird.
Otherwise no other issues I've run into.
Unknown number is not a huge problem as you can make/receive calls and text. Only thing I've run into is that you can't use the Verizon Fios Remote DVR app since it's tied to your phone number. That ws my only problem anyway.
Off topic, I've tried a lot of the customized ROMs and leaks. Seems I'm always back to stock JI6 which works great for me with the exception of it being a little laggy. Been trying the Voodoo lag fix on it but can't get it to work on JI6. But that's a completely different topic....
Going to stick with JI6 until the official Froyo comes out.
Can you guys send MMS? I get a server error everytime I try?
I have the Phone number unknown as well. My Home button is what is giving me problems. It is very temperamental. Doesn't work most of the time.

Can send and receive mms. quality sucks though as of right now..
Odin'd the leaked *untouched* ROM.
I just odin JK6 and I can confirm my does say unknown for phone number. One thing I have noticed is before if you used to volume rocker to lower the ringer, you then reach vibrate and then silent. Now the phone simply goes into vibrate, nothing lower then that.

Which I like, I never used Silent, only vibrant. I freaking bought the Beautiful Widgets for the button for Vibrant, now all I have to do is drag down the status bar and change it.
I think you can change the function of the button/rocker in the Settings.. as far as what it does, silent/vibrate
Not sure if its a bug, but at one point the web browser kept popping up an error saying there is no Internet connectivity, click retry or ok. I was on wifi at the time. A reboot cleared it out, but it happening was odd.
I was just wondering if it just me or it is the ROM it self. To me, if it said unknown mean there is some issue with the rom, not goin to blame anyone since it is not official.
I can confirm the volume rocker too, it goes to vibrate at the lowest. The silent from the notification just make the phone vibrate as well.
I did have some trouble with 3G this morning. Tried to get on navigation and it just say "getting direction" for a while. When i look back i dont have Edge or 3G icon, check in status it said GPRS. I rebooted the phone andgot 3g back. Kind of weird. I hope the final come soon....
I have the Samsung GalaxyS5 from Verizon. Recently I noticed I have been getting notification sound/vibrate when I don't even get a notification. I have tried what seems to be everything and just can't seem to get it to stop. I also noticed that it happens every 5 minutes - on the dot. Even when I put my phone on silent it still vibrates. I know this in right, I'm thinking I have some type of bug or virus. I have the Verizon Protect which scans for viruses and such. According to that, I have nothing wrong. I had a system update which I installed a week ago. This hasn't been happening for that long, only about 2 days. But every 5 minutes exactly I get the sound of a text, with no text.
If anyone has any idea I am up to all options. I have went through numerous threads on different websites and nothing seems to be working for me.
I just need someone with a bit more tech skills than what I have!!
Please help me out. Thanks a bunch!!!!

It's not so easy to identify an app that make a notification sound/vibration. Just some suggestions:
- If there is any notification message on the notification bar, long tap on it and select "App info" to see it belong to which app.
- Check yourself what apps you have installed recently. Try to uninstall some apps that you suspect.
- Use Permission Explorer to check for apps that have "Vibrate" permission.
Hello all,
I'm guessing this is a long shot, but I know this group will be much more tech savvy than I am and can hopefully point me in the right direction.
I'm being electronically stalked on 2 Pixel 4 phones-- one is used for work, the other is personal. I'm at an absolute loss as to how it's happening. I've gone to the police and they said because it's Android, there are many ways it could be happening, but they can't find out how.
Here are some of the symptoms:
-when I unlock/wake the screen, apps will be open that I am not using, or menus I don't know how to access will be up, for example in Gmail
-phone overheats often/excessive battery drain
-sleeping phone will suddenly wake, background is gone and replaced with a black screen, date and unlock option still present, then it disappears
-stock phone dialer: tapping on the favorites/recents/contacts/voicemail buttons always causes a weird notification when I go from contacts to voicemail. One phone always shows a 'syncing voicemail' popup in the top tray; the other phone shows a missed call notification, and clearly I'm not missing any calls. It happens every time I move between screens.
-At times, recent calls screen shows a missed call. If I tap on it, it never unbolds-- always shows as new
-when phone is locked, using another phone's camera shows that the selfie cam is flashing red like it's in use... Maybe this is normal but it doesn't always happen so I'm not sure why?
-biggest issue is the Now Playing feature: it will show songs on screen and in the Now Playing history that have never been played in my environment. I've actually watched it happen where a song flashes up on the phone and nowhere around me is any song playing. The songs are creepy and yes, lyrically they're meaningful... At times they're love songs, other times threatening. I do know who is doing this, I just don't know how, and I've contacted Google support for help with this. They've provided steps to try to fix the Now Playing issue and nothing helps.
I have heard about malware apps being able to hide behind a partition? So when one phone began with these behaviors I bought another Pixel 4 and got a new email and phone number for it and did not share the number with anyone other than a trusted family member... And yet the stalker found it and is doing the same types of things. I have no idea how.
If anyone has any ideas... Beyond changing my Google password, setting up 2 step verification, or getting a new phone, all of which I've done... I'm looking to find a way to catch who is doing this. I've heard of cloning phones... Does it sounds like that's the issue and if so how would I know? There are a ton of other symptoms I can share... At times I can't place or receive calls or texts at all for hours... NFC appears to have been used... Weird menu overlay that look like fake menus pop up... Website access is restricted... I can go on and on.
Any thoughts on what to do to try to document this and catch who's doing it would be so very appreciated. Thanks in advance.
