It'd be helpful to share experiences about apps that prevent your phone from going into deep sleep.
Hopefully, this thread can help not only the users but the dev side also as long as our smart phones yet haven't been coming with decent batteries.
The deep sleep issue might make your precious apps uninstalled by users no matter how good they're. So, don't forget to take this issue into account when doing development.
* MY SUSPICIOUS APPS *
- Chrome 18.0.1025123 (official)
* A friend here advised that might be solved by disabling auto sync the Chrome in Google Account. But I had never tried before uninstalled it. If you loved Chrome but have deep sleep problem, would give it a chance.
Also you may try other tips from our friends in this thread.
- Vitamio ARMv7+NEON 1.2.8 plug-in for Super Video 1.2.8
* The Super Video itself doesn't cause deep sleep problem. The plug-in does
- IM+ 6.2.4 (with "Go to Push in background" disable)
* Enable the "Go to Push in background" solves problem but will need to log-in(auto) every time you get back to IM+ after leaving it for a while. This waiting's boring sometimes.

My system info: SGN, ICS, Speedmod kernel. I've never waked my phone up before removed it from charging jack. It's just no need to do so. My phone still has good sleeping behaviour.
You can strike Chrome from the list. I have it installed, with sync enabled, and my phone sleeps perfectly. That's on a rooted stock LQ2 ICS ROM.
In fact I have 78 apps installed, according to the Play Store, and deep sleep is working perfectly. I have sync enabled on everything which is syncable apart from Google Currents.
Chrome does for some so it can be kept, with side note
Some tips:
Add stinking Facebook to list
Audio1 service: disable bottom choices in settings>sound
Wifi: airplane mode reboot airplane mode off.
Add link on how to analyze deep sleep and culprits in first case

I found that this method was not reliable as long as there was some app keep triggering phone-wake..sometimes somehow. On the other hand, you don't need to do rebooting if your phone is free from such apps.

That's why you need to be able to analyse it as wel , to many possible causes. This thread is handy in analyzing possible causes and error guessing.

Add IM+
It blocks "deep sleep" if you don't tap...(in the IM+)
Menu...Settings...Push Settings...and than tick the "Go to Push in background"
This may be the same practice for other messaging apps.
I don't have any issues with Facebook and deep sleep but this may be because I don't sync my contacts or calenders.
Screen Filter does stop deep sleep though. At least till you disable it.
Yahoo messenger.... kept my phone awake.... dammm it alll......
I hadnt had any of the deep sleep issues people complained of until around the time chrome went official. I tried full Charging/disconnecting but it didn't seem to restore sleep.
I uninstalled chrome and used the standard charge disconnect reboot method again.
Device went right back to sleep.
Re-installed chrome except didn't sign in (to avoid potential sync issues) phone still sleeping like a baby.
Maybe it wasn't chrome? I will have to "sign in" and re-test play around w syching and recharge...

In the past Skype has been a major issue with me. My phone would not enter deep sleep until I removed it, not sure if this has been fixed though

Same here (no deep sleep issues) BUT with everything disabled in the Facebook's settings.
You can add OkCupid to the list of deepsleep-unfriendly apps.
... uh yeah
Its the location feature that causes the issue. Even though the app allows the feature to be turned-off, it's a lottery whether it works or not. Thinking back now this app probably gave me reason to believe my previous phone had a dud battery.
I have over 320 apps installed including all the so called culprits mentioned in previous posts and my note always goes into deep sleep.
The only time I get the awake issue is when I unplug the phone when charging without first turning the screen on and unlocking the screen. I don't know why it does this but if anyone has the always awake issue should try this before (as i did) you blame it on a app.
I wasnt using fool proof scientific methods but i wasn't getting traditional methods to work w the sleep issue until I uninstalled chrome official...I restored deep sleep and re installed chrome...its still deep sleeping (CpuSpy)
Also looking at settings "battery" tab... it appears that my device is "sleeping" occasionally while charging but "not awake" doesn't necessarily mean "deep" sleeping right? based on what I've read, the system prob considers 200mhz asleep when its connected 2 power...I dunno

The Chrome tips are interesting but now I'm back to Opera Mobile coz the nice Text Reflow feature.
My phone is always at 200 mHz with screen off during charging. There's never been on deep sleep stage in CPU Spy.
Just to chip in the Lloyds TSB app (mostly for UK users) is causing issues for me as of late. Eating away at the battery and preventing sleep.
No luck solving it yet. May just uninstall.
It's been App Lock and App Defender for me, never letting my phone go into deep sleep so I had to uninstall :/
any development on this issue on
a real fix???? particular Rom that's unaffected?
I must be doing something weird w my charger
bc I constantly lose deep sleep everyday
Im tethered 2 the usb charger, constantly have 2 monitoring cpuspy sux and Im not gonna take it anymore lol why do I HAVE 2 wait 4 100% to do the unlock reboot trick
this is a flaw I cant live with...I need 2 be able 2 take a nap wake up & not have lost 75% of my phones charge bc it wont deep sleep
its just getting 2 annoying, its making me want to sell, maybe go back 2 HTC see what's up hear they got HTCx1 or whatever rocking JB...
any idea what I could sell it for?...its SIM unlocked

I can still get rid of all my deep sleep issues by rebooting the phone after I disconnect from the charger. This is the only reliable method I've found (I'm on ICS LQ2).
I'm also experimenting with SetCPU (which I bought for my tablet) to see if that stops the problems - since I'm rooted I can use that!
I am a bit put off by the fact that motorola hasn't implemented a sleep tracker into the motoACTV. Given that they are pretty much all the rage nowadays with fitness trackers (ie. Fitbit zip and one, Jawbone UP, etc).
Im wondering if anyone has tried to use their rooted motoactv to run a sleep tracking app from the market place and how it worked for you? I just downloaded SleepBot (unless you have another recommendation) and am planning to try it tonight. However that app is meant to be ran on a phone, while plugged in and set near your pillow. It uses the phone's accelerometer to monitor your tossing and turning in bed, the phone's microphone to monitor your noises/snoring/sleeptalking and also requires the phone screen to be on during the whole time. That last part is what has me worried. I don't think that the motoactv has the ability to keep a screen lit, albeit the app dims the screen for you, for 8+hrs.
It would be nice to have software built into the MotoACTV like the jawbone UP does. Anyone have some input?
Tried sleepbot app. Didn't work. The screen size doesn't allow the whole app to display once in sleep mode tracking motion. The wake up button gets hidden and the app gets stuck in the tracking mode rendering pretty much useless. Tonight um trying sleep as android. This time I tested it during tracking and confirmed the app fits the screen or can be scrollable.
I was surprised to wake up and have 60% battery left.

The actv has a built in sleep tracker. DPRom has it enabled. The software is in all roms that contain the stock firmware, but the app may be disabled for some as it doesn't come with an icon to launch it. In those cases, you may be able to manually launch it using a file explorer or something. It is called "SleepAnalysis.apk".

Thanks for this! I had no idea. So if its enabled I should see an icon for it? In the android app list or within the listing of activities? I can't wait to test it. Thanks again!
Edit: I couldn't find the apk by searching so I found your post on another thread tht offered it as a downloadable with adb commands to install it. Works perfect! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36528460&postcount=399

Motorola was going to put sleep tracking into motoactv, it was actually in development, before that the project stopped

That sucks. Hopefully they haven't completely abandoned it. I've used it the past 2 nights. It works well. Maybe they're planning to release a new smart watch and launch the finished product of the sleep analysis then. And then xda peeps will port it to motoactv!
A couple of issues I've run into with the current state of the sleep analysis is that you must be at least 80% charge before starting because over the course of your sleep it discharges by about 75%(this might be because of root and rom). The tracker works when screen is off unlike a lot of sleep tracking apps on the market for smartphones. Also it usually states that I'm awake for 1hr and been awaken 7-8 times during my sleep. I don't know how true that is. The graph is hard to read due to screen size as well. I'm sure there was going to be a syncing deal with it. To export to phone or pc.
A few things I want to learn is how exactly the motoactv knows when I'm in deep sleep/ light sleep, and what sets it off to say I'm awake. Also want to know what's the optimum way to wear it. With wrist strap or clip on hip.

Funny, I turned on marathon mode to save battery and tracked my sleep last night (which I only got 4 hrs). Turns out that the 3 second refresh caused me to be in "deep sleep" for all four hours which is bogus.
On the up side it finished the night with 80% battery which is a drastic savings over being on normal battery saver.

Well after a week of using the native sleep tracker, I've gotta say it isn't very good. I was hoping it'll give me me info sheet the initial 7 nights. But nothing. You can't view previous cycles, only the overall score. But this was to be expected because it's largely unfinished. It's a shame though. And the android Market is lacking beyond sleep as andros or sleep bot.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
Are they on the market for another android device? If so, download it to that device, titanium backup, then copy the backed up apk to your computer and sideload it to the actv via adb.

Yes they are. They work but they're heavy on the battery.
As of late, the native sleep analysis application has begun to force close every time.

It does not work very well at all, it tends to drain the battery of the motoactv during the night. The app recommends you plug your phone in during use, so it is pretty power hungry.

I have a Moto 360 running android wear.
I'm seeing high battery drain from wakelock *sync*/com.google.android.gms.fitness/com.google/eM_ADDR - resulting in up to 8% drain/hour on lollipo (5.0.1 / samsung I9505)
When I view sync settings on the phone I see "google fit" is still syncing. This happens quite regularly. other sync apps are fine, phone has mobile connection etc. Any ideas?
Whilst not necessarily an android wear OS issue, hoping this is an appropriate place to discuss - open to suggestions as to where else to try!
I noticed it too (Sony Smartwatch 3 and Nexus 5 4.4.4). I just ended up uninstalling it. I like Fit, but not enough to try and figure out what was causing it.
It definately is google fit. Just this morning my phone's been unplugged for 90 mins, and for around 60 mins google fit had this same wakelock keeping the phone awake.
I tried clearing fit data & reconfiguring, but the issue came straight back. Very frustrating when this isn't even a third party app, but instead a google app!!!
fit for purpose - not... now wondering if I need to switch to another solution - I did try "my fitness companion" only for it to regularly crash on the watch! Grrrr! Moto Body works, but there's no access to the data off the watch... ideally an alternative client that worked with android wear/moto 360 and synced to google fit would be ideal!
Use greenifiy app and hibernate GoogleFit on your phone. It will only try to sync when you open the app
Connected to moto 360 and Google fit.. Use apps.. Move it, cinch and aqualert which sync with Google fit
No issues on android 4.4.4
Seems to be issue with lollipop

i have uninstalled google fit on my phone because of battery drain but i still have the app on my watch and still counts my steps taken.
Need your help cause this is driving me nuts
I got the x play for my wife which is running stock marshmallow and is rooted
We noticed once in a while her alarm wouldn't go off in the morning
I tried various clock apps and same result
We noticed that when this happenes her daydream clock seems to be late a few hours as if it's not updating
I tried a few daydream clocks and noticed the same trend
Seems when the phone is in deep sleep mode sometimes it just does this
I checked the app battery saving features and turned them off for the clock and daydream app and same thinf
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks
Forgot to mention that the issues are occurring with stock clock application as well stock Daydream options as well as 3rd party
SHORT VERSION:
Lf a 1 or 2 smartwatch/es (or other wearables) mainly for sleep hacking/tracking, health tracking and suggestions on how to improve my health and sleep; and maybe another watch/wearable for BP/ECG (better though if they're the same device).
Budget: $100-$200
---------------
LONG VERSION:
I'm looking for a watch with very good sleep and health tracking, preferably one that gives you suggestions on how to improve you sleep and urges you to move when you become a bit sedentary.
I've been doing some research and most people say that fitbit is the best when it comes to sleep, although my further research that huawei comes close and is cheaper.
I'd also like it if the watch has ECG and Blood pressure monitoring (I frequently get headaches and I think it might have to do with my breathing) but afaik, neither Huawei nor Fitbit has any device capable of such so I'm fine having a secondary device primarily for ECG and BP.
I don't mind wearing 2 watches.
Budget: $200 (I'll consider if it's a bit above but I'll prefer if it was within 100-200)
Features:
Sleep(crucial). Helps me get more deep sleep. I'm trying to experiment with sleep hacking.
Health(also crucial). Maybe something that notifies me if it thinks there's something wrong with me.
(Very desirable)I'm a fan of everything cloud so.. Should be very easy to sync with phone, computer (esp for sleep and fitness data)
(Very desirable)Comfy to wear
(desirable) Basic Fitness and encouraging.
(desirable)Good Battery life
(desirable)Headache advice, tracking, etc. (I get a lot of headaches)
(Huge plus but not necessary) Exportable/Importable data (sleep, fitness). i.e. has good support for exporting data should I change my watch to something of the same brand or even a different brand (is this even possible?)
(Optional) I use google calendar a lot so it'd be nice if it could display notifications from google calendar.
Replaceable band (desirable feature but optional)
Regarding smart watches, are they able to accurately read your heart data whether or not the watch is tightly or loosely fitted? I'm a bit concerned that I'll be wearing a watch but I'll have to wear it too tight (uncomfortable) for it to work.
Or maybe you guys could recommend other wearables? (on the ankle, or something to sleep with, etc.)
I'm also wondering if there was an app that's able to collate and correlate data from different devices, trackers, smart watches, etc., that supports manual input (e.g. of height, weight, BP, CBC, doctors visits, conditions/ailments at points in time) and generates recommendations from it.
Would also be good if it has infographics I can show to the doctor whenever I go for a checkup.
I hope if there is, it's free but I don't mind paying as long as it's cheap.
Results for your spec ? = nothing. Otherwise Fitbit Versa.
Which specs are too difficult to find?
It's only the sleep and health features I'm critical about, although it'd be really nice if cloud sync wouldn't be a headache.
Any reason though to choose Versa over Charge 3, Huawei Band pro 3 or Charge 2 (since I've been seeing a lot of negative reviews about Charge 3)?
Any suggestions about a separate watch that measures BP/ECG though?, I've seen some cheap ones online but they barely have any ratings and reviews.
Thanks.
No I think Versa match all your specs just lack of Always On Display. Maybe also export data ? do not know how export is possible with the Fitbit system but it is very complete.
Fitbit is maybe the only system I know with good sleep tracking, all other are not as good.
Versa is better than all other because it have many user faces and some app that others like Charge 2/3 or Honnor do not have. Very good apps for calendar event on versa.
For ECG -> Apple Watch 4, Withings Move ECG
Thanks I'll definitely take that into account.
Could you specify though which features aren't on the charge 3 but is on the versa? I've read that Charge 3 has SPO2 (blood oxygen levels) readings and has a longer batter life (7 vs 4 days).
As for ECG, Apple is too expensive for me and I don't have an Iphone (although I do have an iPad, but I don't carry it all the time), but maybe I'll consider it in the future.
Charge 3 Vs Versa
- No color display and Charge 3 smaller display
- No Calendar feature
- No Checklist feature
- No notes like Google Docs or GTask feature
- No setting Alarm on watch with Charge 3
- Limited Weather info on Charge 3
- No moonphase info
- No calculator
- Not the hundred watchfaces in Charge 3 just a few and not face with date HRM and steps together
and no all apps that exist on Versa....
maybe SPO2 but not active in Charge 3
Versa has little battery 4 à 5 days but normal for a watch with big color screen
Thanks!
