I have a Moto 360 running android wear.
I'm seeing high battery drain from wakelock *sync*/com.google.android.gms.fitness/com.google/eM_ADDR - resulting in up to 8% drain/hour on lollipo (5.0.1 / samsung I9505)
When I view sync settings on the phone I see "google fit" is still syncing. This happens quite regularly. other sync apps are fine, phone has mobile connection etc. Any ideas?
Whilst not necessarily an android wear OS issue, hoping this is an appropriate place to discuss - open to suggestions as to where else to try!
I noticed it too (Sony Smartwatch 3 and Nexus 5 4.4.4). I just ended up uninstalling it. I like Fit, but not enough to try and figure out what was causing it.
It definately is google fit. Just this morning my phone's been unplugged for 90 mins, and for around 60 mins google fit had this same wakelock keeping the phone awake.
I tried clearing fit data & reconfiguring, but the issue came straight back. Very frustrating when this isn't even a third party app, but instead a google app!!!
fit for purpose - not... now wondering if I need to switch to another solution - I did try "my fitness companion" only for it to regularly crash on the watch! Grrrr! Moto Body works, but there's no access to the data off the watch... ideally an alternative client that worked with android wear/moto 360 and synced to google fit would be ideal!
Use greenifiy app and hibernate GoogleFit on your phone. It will only try to sync when you open the app
Connected to moto 360 and Google fit.. Use apps.. Move it, cinch and aqualert which sync with Google fit
No issues on android 4.4.4
Seems to be issue with lollipop

Hi all,
i have updated google goggles with the last version 1.3 last week, and i sow that the app is always in background while the dhd is in standby, ex. in the night, and drains the battery for 20/30% when i wake up in the morning...
Anyone has the same problem? tnx for all
I can confirm I have the same problem. I had to remove it.
Any app that uses the camera, I set up to be killed using Advanced Task Killer after a minute. Otherwise you do get that excessive drain.....
I can't say I've really noticed the problem on mine but I'll be looking out for it now. My DHD spends most of the day sitting on a charging dock, and I've just started using a bluetooth headset so any extra drain would've been dismissed as the BT.
I downloaded the new goggles from the market, I want to see tomorrow morning, after the standby battery itself consumes again, for now the application is not active..
Same for me : it was ok with the previous version, but now it drains battery even with the app closed (can't understand how) =>8% in 10h!!!
When i go to see the detailled usage it shows no CPU usage, app closed, but still 8% of battery...
I may have solved this problem, I uninstalled and reinstalled the 1.3 version of goggles, for now no longer remains in the background.
BTW, when I use googles, first I leave the app and then force close in Applications> Manage Applications, so googles doesn't stay in the background
But now instead I see always "Rate Places running in background as service from Google Maps 5.0, but perhaps this is a bug in maps, i think.
I also had the same problem, I also noticed that 3h after i last used it i killed it via Task Killer and when i did it made the sound that it turned off my camera, like when you use barcode scanner and hear that code when the camera is adjusting, my widget also said that wifi was uploading something... So i dont know if google was spying on us or what happened...
Hello!
I received my nexus on Monday and so far I've only noticed one problem: there's a mysterious "Google services" process draining my battery. Just from leaving the phone unplugged over night the battery is already half drained. Looking at the battery stats I get this data, which I really can't understand. With this wake and cpu times, it makes no sense at all that this is draining the battert, does it? What's going on?

Edit: Don't know how to use thumbnail so I'm just gonna put the raw links
I have the exact same thing google services has taken 43% but battery life had been ok not great not bad but just ok
I've had that.
Fixed by disabling location history.
Are you using Google currents. When the nexus 7 came out many had issues with drain when they had Google currents installed. For me it didn't even master if I had it synced. I uninstalled it and problem solved. Since I don't have mine yet that's the only thing I can recommend.

Thanks.

not fully related, but on my N7, I was getting crazy battery drain from google wallet after updating it. Reverting wallet back to the stock version that came on the N7 fixed it. (even stranger was that I never setup wallet for NFC to begin with, and I keep NFC off)
disable sync from your gg account. gg services include gg book, magazine, music, map, chorme, gmail...
Having the same issue. Didn't start draining till about 4 hours off the charger...
I am also having this issue. Google Service is the number 1 battery eater. Right now it is at 56%.
Did anyone find the cure?
I'm having this problem. Cleared all data, installed a new kernel etc. A ton of Google stuff disabled, currents included. Only sync I have to both my connected Google accounts are gmail to my knowledge.
Help!!

Both are off and have been off.
Also having the same problem - after doing a quick search, seems to be affecting a lot of people. Has anyone found a solution?
I am NOT rooted, completely stock. Had phone about a week, and today was the first day I noticed significant battery drain (down to <10% in 8 hours) under very minimal use at work (sat in desk drawer most of the day)

I have the same problem, I dont know when it started, I think after updating from 4.1.2 to 4.2.x. Anyone found a solution?
I'm just now having the same issue here even after trying turning off those different things. There doesn't seen to be anything definitive out there online when I searched. It's probably something Google will have to fix, or will fix hopefully.
Same here. I went through all of the google settings and switched off everything (Contacts and Calendar were the only things I left ticked). Nothing seems to work...
I uninstalled Maps entirely and made sure none of Google's features were enabled but for some reason, Google Services is still eating its way through my battery.
and its not only on nexus.iam suffering the same drain with my xperia T too
I noticed this after the Google Services Update which includes a lot of new API's.

Hello everyone...
so I got the S4 about a week and a half ago and I really love it. When I first got it the battery life was great and the screen was the top killer of my battery as expected. But over the past 4 days the android os has been taking up 65% of my battery. I feel like it might be an app but then why would an app show under android os? Anyone have ideas or tip?
That happened to me on a custom rom, but not on stock. Which are you on?
I am on stock I have not rooted it as of yet.
I'd personally recommend rooting and then installing both Greenify and Better Battery Stats. Most likely it's an app running in the background and/or waking your phone up. A couple common things to watch out for:
- What are your location settings in both Maps and Facebook? Both are notorious for waking your phone up (sometimes 100 times per hour) to repeatedly report your location. If they are set to report from your device, I would turn location off and see if it fixes your battery issue.
- Google Now (to a lesser extent that Facebook and Maps) tends to search for your location as well. I personally turn Google Now off.

Thanks for the help, i will try that...but would both of those things show up under Android OS?
i think it is normal if you do not use your phone usually , android os should is the opera system of you smart phone.
I tried searching Google for battery drain related to Play Services. Up until my phone had official KitKat, even with CM11, the battery drain from play services was never this horrendous (about 36% battery usage).
The only thing I could find besides version 4.4 was the "fix" for battery drain related to location was that some Sony devices, upon upgrading to KitKat, suffered similar problems with battery.
I've come to the conclusion the RAZR HD/MAXX HD suffer from the same issue.
Downloading BetterBatteryStats I found when GPS was the only way of doing location services, the battery drain is ~1% an hour. When I had high accuracy or battery savings mode, the drain was ~3.5% an hour. This is the EXACT issue that the Xperia devices are suffering from.
So, for all those on KitKat who are experiencing battery drain, try switching to Device Only. This will utilize only GPS satellites to determine location. You will lose location based stuff in Google Now, suck as traffic or weather but your battery will last much longer.
I looked through and didn't see anything about this in any other thread, so I decided to make a new one. Hopefully Google updates Play Services to be a bit more friendly with LTE and WiFi location settings soon (I'm looking at you, I/O).

Another potential way around this is possibly using the Greenify app, if you're rooted. You'll also have to donate ($2.99 USD) but it's well worth it if you ask me. I actually used my Amazon Coins to donate that way.
With a donated version, you can hibernate system apps, but you have to be careful because hibernating certain system apps could cause other apps to no longer work (which is easy to fix - just unhibernate them). But, this is different from freezing apps. Freezing an app means you've disabled it. What Greenify does is prevent the phone from starting up apps when the screen is off (wake lock). But, you can launch the app yourself and it will fire up (albeit maybe a little slower since it wasn't pre-loaded) and then when the screen goes back off, Greenify will hibernate the apps again.
This is another way to stop apps from firing up when you're not using your phone. I've noticed Google Play services going nuts one time. A reboot cured it, but I wasn't sure what apps would have been using it. I've since Greenified some regular apps and I haven't seen it happen again.
But, Greenify is definitely something to look at. The non-donation version only allows you to greenify non-system apps, but even for those, it works really well.
You can get it at Google Play or at Amazon App store.
I haven't got issues with battery drain at the moment but I bookmarked this link of reddit and maybe it help you.

I believe I read that thread, too. It is helpful to understand that Google Now is really what's killing the battery. I've noticed that the battery life is one again incredible on my phone after changing to device only. This allows me to still use navigation if necessary and also allows my weather extension in DashClock to work because the one I installed allows the phone to read GPS location instead of relying on my network location. So for now while I lose traffic updates and weather updates through the Google search app, it's not SO bad. I seriously hope they modify the number of times that Google pings for your location or figure out how to cause less drain on the battery, because I find the location stuff incredibly useful at times.

Notifications sometimes don't work, especially for calls. It stays connected fine with Nougat, though I can't figure out how to track sleep. The specs state that it can.
Until today. I added the watch as one of my "trusted devices" so the phone stays unlocked when they're in range of each other, and it disconnected. Now when I try to reconnect in WiiWear, it crashes and disconnects again. I've forgotten the watch, removed it from "trusted devices," wiped cache, reinstalled WiiWear, etc, and it still crashes. HELP!

Sorry to hear about your issues. I'm considering buying one myself. Do you think this is mostly a problem with the watch (i.e. hardware) or something with the connection between the phone app and the watch software?
Also, if you don't mind taking a minute to tell me, what did you think of the build quality and general usability of the Y3?

I have the Y3, and the connection problem is very real. Until yesterday, I could not maintain any reliable connection between the watch and my phone. The Bluetooth would continually connect and disconnect, and the m2d manager and receiver were very quickly being killed after the the screen turned off. Then I stumbled on the cause. I was checking the app notification log using Google gesture and noticed an app called Battery Master posting silent notifications. This app does not show in the app list and is not accessible in any other settings screen. However, when I tapped on one of the notifications in the notification log, it took me to the info screen for Battery Master and gave me the option to disable the app, which I did. Bluetooth, m2d, and notifications have worked perfectly ever since. So far I have not noticed any significant difference in battery drain but it will probably take a few days to know for sure.
Build quality of the watch is excellent. I love the watch now that the connection issue is fixed. The display is awesome since there is no black band around the outside and no flat tire. I've installed the ClockSkin launcher which provides a better looking interface and allows installation of all the excellent LEM5 watch faces available from the G+ user group. Battery life for me (after disabling Battery Master) seems to be about 10 hours.

That's good to hear. You should definitely make a quick Youtube video about the fix, or even just a thread here on XDA. I bet a lot of people never discovered what was the cause of their connection issues and just returned the watch. One question though, does that fix persist through a reboot, or do you have to disable the Battery Master app each time you start the watch?
Please update us if your connection issues continue to be resolved with that fix (or not).

It's actually really good. It's a solid watch, and it has a lot of good uses. I wish it did work with apps like Google Fit and Sleep as Android though, but it's not really necessary as those work fine with just the phone as is. It is supposedly IP67-rated water proof, but I don't recommend testing that by completely submerging it, or showering with it on. It likely is OK with washing hands, though. Or sweat. Never had a problem even with my original Moto 360 in that regard.
One thing these will never do is make or receive calls over Bluetooth. None of them will.
They are a stand alone watch phone. Never made to call through Bluetooth.

Download the app Google Gesture Search from the play store onto your watch. This will allow you to easily search for settings options that are not accessible through the watch's launcher. Search for Notification Log. In the log, tap on any line that says Battery Master. This will take you to the app info page for Battery Master. You can't uninstall the app but you can disable it. This will allow Bluetooth to stay connected and will allow the m2d manager and receiver to stay running.
Using m2d, the phone will reconnect with the watch automatically if you come back into Bluetooth range.
Be aware that once you disable Battery Master, there is no way to re-enable it because it won't show up in the logs. I'm guessing that a firmware update or a factory reset would re-enable it.

The IP67 rating is a misprint, on the official LEMFO store at AliExpress, the listing for the Y3 states that it is IP65 rated. I took a screenshot because I know a lot of people were confused about that.

That's really too bad. I really would like a watch like my Gear S (which also allows you to use a SIM card) that can simply pass the call through the watch. For driving it is great to keep your hands on the wheel. I wonder why the feature isn't on more watches. It seems like a no-brainer.

Neither Wiiwear or Sinwear will run on my Nexus 5x. I think it's an incompatibility with Android 7+. You can sync notifications to the Y3 using m2d once you fix the Bluetooth problem by disabling Battery Master.
