Hello,
I have a fossil Q 4th gen. But I have one question about the gps.
I want to know if it's possible to use google maps into the smartwach without using the smartphone ?
For exemple, how can I set an itinerary in my watch, without using the phone. Because, when I don't connect my watch to my phone, she can't find my position, to find it, I must activate the gps into my phone.
Thanks a lot

Attached Google.
This is freeware
thx for reply. But isn't this the same that came pre-installed with the HD.
I tried Google Maps but that uses the data connection. I heard on google navigation you can save maps on storage and the use it "offline", so no need of data-connection, only GPS reciever.
Sorry, I should have read your thread properly, been a long day.
Google Navigator attached
I haven't used this application to be honest, but just installed it and a data connection appears to be required. I'll play with it and let you know if this can be disabled.
I have also downloaded the trial from http://www.pdafun.net/
and first time I started it I saw it downloded dato. I then used HD tweak to stop all data connection, and went in to Google navigator and changed som settings.
I can still start the prorgam wihtout any problems and activated GPS. It find my postition(still noe data connection used, yet). But don't know how to get a map. I only see a "world" map.
SO would be nice to know how we can download offlien maps so we can use with GPS and not need to use dataconnection, since it says it's possible
Without sounding flipant, the CAB is 1.73Mbs so I would expect it does not contain map data, bearing in mind that TomTom Maps are in the region of 1Gbs.
Maybe you have to download from somewhere else though.
<double post>
The map are downloaded using Data connection, they are download on demand by the software.
Google Navigator
the meaning of offline Navigation in this Software is that you can specify an interested area and tell the program to download the related topo, road maps, etc to the device over a data connection at a a given Zoom level. (wifi or gsm)
once the download is complete you can switch off the data connection or remove the sim and use the application to locate/Navigate your self in the downloaded area. The purpose is to enable you to use the phone to navigate yourself in a area without network coverage and/or to cutdown on the data download cost over GSM.
FYI
Google Navigator works fine on the HD except for the 3D view. it creates some areas of the map to disappear. I wrote to the developers on this bug and they said they will correct that error in their 4.9V but till the latest version the problem is still there.
is it just me or is the trial version of this completely useless? what is the point in disabling the only features that actually make this different to google maps? surely a time-limited version rather than feature-limitedwould make more sense?
I for one will certainly not be shelling out for this unless I know it works (and on my phone too).
this is most unlike google, who's software (until now)I have always been most impressed with. google maps is simply phenomenal, but does lack the turn-by-turn voice commands necessary to operate it whilst driving.
the data, for me (and many who own this type of device - why on earth would you have a device this capable without some data included?!) is not an issue. but i need to see it in action before I can abandon Tomtom properly...
is this software actually from google or just based on google maps? I still can't work out why I have to pay for this when everything else google is free (and this looks decidedly shoddier)?!
kindregards

Apparently Google Navigator has nothing to do with Google. The developers are just using the name "Google" because it taps into the Maps database. Caveat emptor.
Google Navigator is one of the worst PDA Apps I've ever seen.
Not only do they #1 -- Use the FREE google maps service, and charge you for their crappy front end, but #2 -- Put the name "Google" in the title of their product, so you think it's actually from a reputable source.
Google really needs to put a stop to this company because they are basically ripping people off.
Hey, I'd like to know some apps that you install using the phone, but which can be used when the phone is disconnected (not with you), so run natively on the watch.
Like, I install app A when I have my friends android phone, when I go home, I still want to use app A. I know there is a possibility for this as google said it. I know of the 2 apps: wear calc and wear compass. But surely, there should be more right? Anyone know some Watch-specific/native/standalone apps?
Thanks!
Have you seen this list

Hi, I recently got a Moto 360 as a present. But sadly, I soon came to the realization that you can't run Android Wear without GAPPS installed (I'm running CM10.2). I'm not going to install Google's spyware just so I can use a watch.
Are there other Apps that work with AndroIid Wear Devices? My smartphone does support Bluethooth 4 and BLE. A little bit digging showed me that some dedicated people got some functionality to work on their Iphone without Google Services. Alos when I install the Pebble App it recognzes my phone (but can not connect)
I really just want to get notifications to my watch, control music , set an alarm and maybe get my pulse data on my phone. Are there third party apps that can do that?
The person who ported the Android Wear functionality to Iphone has a Github repository of his Iphone app under shiitakeo/android_wear_for_ios . If there is no option I will have to write my own app and I'm going to orient myself on what he did there.
So you are looking for an app to connect your android phone to the iOS wear connect app on moto360? And not android wear app?
I'm looking for a third party android app that lets me connect my Moto 360 with my Phone aCyanogenmod 10.2 without gapps installed.
Without gapps I can't install the offical Android Wear app. Taking a peak in the IOS world shows me that it' s possible to do that with a device that supports Bluethooth 4.0 and BLE. The Pebbles app also recognizes my watch but does not let me connect it, this tells me that they must use a similiar protocol or maybe even the same. My question is, if someebody already did write such an App, that lets you connect your Android phone with your smart watch (without installing gapps!), or if I have to do this on my own. (I'm a software developer but never did anything with Bluethooth or much in Android.)
I'd also like to find a non-gapps solution for this. Have you found one?

Hi All,
I recently treat myself to an A-Sure AS-S3OVB (Running android 5.1.1) headunit for my UK Spec Vauxhall Zafira. I am very impressed with the unit and making a few tweaks has made it into a very impressive piece of kit. I don't know if its MTCB or MTCD or even anything to do with those two things, so Im afraid I can't reliably post inside another sub-forum.
However, I now have a few final things that I would like to TRY to make the unit do...
1...
I want my Notifications from my phone (Not ALL notifications, just ones from SMS to appear on the HeadUnit (BIG CENTRAL SCREEN notification would be ideal) and perhaps read the message with TTS?
Is this possible, and does there exist any software to make this happen?
Essentially, i want my HeadUnit to do all the things it normally does, but also behave in a similar fashion to a smart watch for mirroring notifications.
I have looked at things like PUSHBULLET and the such but have had little success...
2...
I would like to set one of my steering wheel control buttons to fire up google voice search, so as I can tap a button and then say "Play <generic song name> on spotify" - and thus said song will play.
Is its possible using the onboard software, or with a 3rd party app?
3...
I would like to change what the external display says when i am using certain apps (its done through an external CANBUS box but I believe controlled by the software in the HU). For example, at the moment when I am running spotify, my external in car display shows "MP5" - Would be much prettier if i could make it say "Spotify" or "Streaming" or something similar.
Is this possible at all?
4...
Finally, is there any way to get Google TTS to work with my mapping sortware? I use Co-Pilot Live which works 100% in every other way, just it doesnt work output and voice instructions when set to Google TTS. I have a feeling this is more to do with thge funky version of android thats installed as standard on the HU, less so than co-pilot itself.
Can anyone advise? Thanks in advance - I know someone will have an answer as this is seemingly the greatest forum on the whole of the interwebs!!!

1) try automate or Android auto to bring your phone notifications onto headunit
2) enable "ok Google" on every screen
3) not easy. you have to decompile the app used by mcu and modify it.
4) I don't know if copilot could use Google tts voices (or you have to install own copilot advanced voices). Sygic can use Google tts

Thanks for quick reply,
1) I dont use Android Auto, can it be used via Bluetooth, or Wifi, or does it HAVE to be connected by USB cable?
2) I dont have the options to enable "ok Google" on every screen, I know the options SHOULD be there, and I know where they should be... But they are absent!
3) Sounds like a challenge for a project in the future
4) Copilot can use Google TTS as it works just like that on my phone - it just behaves a little differently on the HU, which is why I was wondering if they had left some part of the TTS system out of their build of android or something?

Hi
A friend gave me a Amazon HD Fire 10 (2021) tablet and asked me to "Put Google on it."
With a little luck and a bit of Google-ing, I managed to get Chrome, Youtube, Gmail, etc. working but I have an issue with Google Maps in that it works fine while online connected via Wi-Fi - It finds my location and lets me navigate, I can even download maps for offline use....but as soon as I turn off Wi-Fi, Maps looses my location and I can only view the "steps" needed to get from "Point A" to "Point B".
Any help would be much appreciated.
PS: Fire OS version is 7.3.2.4
So as it turns out, Amazon Fire tablets doesn't have built in GPS, or not according to gsmarena.
There is an article somewhere on XDA that mentions the contrary but to my understanding, the built-in GPS isn't activated out of the factory. (I just can't find the article right at this moment.)
I ended up using this app from the Google Play store to share my phone's GPS location to the tablet via Bluetooth.
Obviously, you need to mod the tablet and install Google Play for this to work. I found that the Fire Toolbox method didn't work for me spesifically...so I used this guide instead.
Well, I hope someone finds this useful!
Cheers.

Hi
I don't have the tablet with me anymore but I will make a guide with screenshots using 2 android phones as soon as I get a chance.... I might be able to do it a little later today but don't hold me to a promise.

thanks bro... I spent like 12 hours researching to no avail, also i am kinda new on this forum but looking for this specific information makes me want to kill myself in videogames. Googling doesn't help either because 99.9% informations out there are just trash and they don't exactly deal with this specific issue. I am just getting frustrated almost wanting to throw this tablet to the trashcan already because literally that's all i want to have and I can't do it.
There's some guys on youtube that succeed having their fire tablet doing gps navigation but it is either the old version or they just gloated they managed to do it without telling us anything how to do it.
This is just mind boggling to me, why the hell amazon not implementing gps system on tablet? sorry I am ranting cause I am truly desperate and don't know what to do anymore.

I know how you feel. I also battled with this for a while.
I promised you a guide with screenshots....the problem is I cannot replicate the results using 2 android phones that have built-in GPS
The best I can do is guide you through download / setup of the app from memory:
1) Open Google Maps on the Fire HD 10 while it is connected to Wi-Fi and download an offline map of your area. Turn off Wi-Fi afterwards.
2) Download the GPS Connector app to the Fire HD 10
3) Enable "Developer Options" on the Fire HD 10 and set "Mock Location App" to the "GPS Connector" app (This step is pretty much the same on all Android phones or tablets -
Open Settings
Open Device Options
Tap the Serial number seven times
Swipe to the bottom of the Device Options menu
Developer Options should be the last item
...from here, open "Developer Options" and scroll down a ways until you see something along the lines of "Select mock location app.)
4) Pair your phone** (the device that will be sending the GPS signal) to your Fire HD 10 via Bluetooth
5) Open the "GPS Connector" app on the Fire HD 10 and click the "Settings" cog-icon
6) Click on "GNSS Device" and then click "Bluetooth"
7) On the next screen, select "Paired device" and then select your phone's ** Bluetooth name
8) Backtrack one screen and turn on "Set GPS Mock Location"
9) Now, turn on your phone's** location
10) Go back to the main screen of "GPS Connector" and you should see the time as well as Latitude and Longitude coordinates on the screen
11) Minimize the "GPS Connector" app into your "Recent Apps" and open Google Maps
12) If you don't have location right away, click the small circular button with the red "?" inside, this should prompt you to turn on "Location Services".
If all goes well, you should now be able to navigate offline within the area of the map that you downloaded. For example, from your house to the local grocery store.
If you have an unlimited data plan on your phone, you could also setup your android phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot and tether it to the Fire HD 10.
Let me know if you manage, if not I will try and find another app to do the GPS sharing.
Good luck
