Developing an app to access local heart-rate monitor - Other SmartWatches

I'm looking to develop an app that can run on a low-cost full Android smartwatch - like a Kospet or Lemfo - that can take continuous readings from the built-in heart rate monitor (HRM). Does anyone know through experience if these sensors can be made accessible to a third app and if so, how?

Using Polar M400 as smartwatch with own/other app?

Hello,
I own a Polar M400 and it has some smartwatch feature. (showing notifications and beeping)
Currently it is only utilized through the polar flow app.
Has anybody already figured out how to utilize this watch by other/self-programmed apps?
:good: That is an interesting question. I would also be curious about that.
I am looking in to this, as I got some choices on some applications. Like beyond pod. Allows me to pause and skip on the watch. Should be able to create one that could be customised :=

Best China smartwatch for sports

Hello everybody!
It's about two days that I'm trying to find a good smartwatch for my needs without results.
I would like to buy an independent Android 5.1 smartwatch I can also track my activity with. I saw that most of these products (no. 1 d6, kw88, zeblaze blitz, etc) have hr, altimeter, barometer, gyroscope and other useful sensor but they have a dummy app that checks heart rate only when you ask for it and a pedometer (I don't understand if it works continuously or only when you open the app).
Do you know if one of them does support other apps with whom I could monitor my daily steps (without keeping an app opened on the screen) but also run, bike, and maybe gym exercises?
Thank you and sorry for my bad English.
Any suggestions? I'm not sure but I think I read something about some smartwatch that could support usage of sensors by fitness apps as Google fit...

Google Fit works on the watch as does other exercise recording apps such as Wahoo Fitness. GPS works OK, heart rate does not work with any 3rd part apps as far as I can tell. So I use a BLE heart rate strap paired to the watch.

Smart Watch For Continuous Heart Rate Monitoring

Friends,
I need to make a decision on which smart watch to buy and from several models and not clear description, I'm lost.
I need your help/recommendation on this.
My needs are
(1) Continuous Heart Rate Monitoring of course.
(2) #1 should be automatic, so once I put on the watch, it starts monitoring and I do not need to go through any menu and need not press any key to ask it to measure/start monitoring heart rate.
(3) Need to be at least sync to app and be able to download/export the data.
(4) If possible, it should track my running/jogging/walking activity.
(5) Also important, I need time display in large numericals or at least in larger fonts. I hate "fitbits" for their small display as it's harder for me to see small fonts on their display.
On AliExpress, I looked at GW01, X10, X20, K88H, K89 and No1. G5.
Lastly I also read about Zeblaze Blitz.
Now I'm not sure which one I should go for!
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks!

I own both k88h and gw01. K88h does not have continuous heary rate. You need to go into menu, enter the heart app, and press start.
For gw01, it does have continuous heart rate. but you still need to into menu, open the app.It will keep measuring your heartrate, and display live result, but only if you keep the app open.

Thank you so much for guidance. I can have the app open and allow the heart rate measuring from GW01.
Do you think it can connect to any fitness app, if yes, can you please tell me which one is more compatible with this watch?
Thanks again,
DP.

There are 2 main app, which is Mediatek Smart Device and Fundo Wear app.
1. Mediatek smart device only allow you to coonnect your phone to the watch, setting app notification, install vxp to watch etc. But no fitness function. But it said that it can be integrated with Google Fit app. But I never tried this.
2. Fundo Wear app same like mediatek smart device but it already have build in fitness function. It will synchronized your watch data into the app.
I cannot tell much which is the best, because I rarely use the watch for fitness purpose now.

apps for KW88

Hi,
I'm looking to create an app for a KW88 (KingWear) smartwatch I've purchased and awaiting it to be shipped to me.
As this smartwatch has a sim card, it may double as a phone. Therefore, I wonder, if I create a standalone app for the smartwatch (It is supposed to show the pictures of contacts and then, on press, call them), do I need to make a normal android app or an Android wear app?
(Implying it is possible to have a third party app completely standalone on the KW88 watch in the first place.....)
many thanks for the answers!
Regards,
Wattah

Careful, Wattah!
The KingWear KW88 runs on Android 5.1 and not Android Wear - which means it doesn't support apps made for Android Wear at all...
This standalone app you meantioned won't be integrated and run only if you open it manually. Native support in terms of using this app instead of the built in app will be difficult to work around. (see launcher apks on Google+ forums)
Hope that finds you well
Best regards,
Daniel
Welp, sorry, apparently I've never said anything back.
Thanks for the answer, as it actually made things a lot easier. I've now programmed an app and using a app called Always on, the app is nearly always on. What I intend to create is a skin over the KW88 device which will make it much more usable for elderly people.
What I noticed is that sometimes, using the physical button, the app will close and display the watch face. For us it is easy to navigate through the watch face, but I need it to be as easy as it can ever be and so, i need the face removed.... Is there any way to either: remove the face alltogether or have this app be incorporated in the face (it needs to be able to handle calls and use GPS)....

Sensors on WearOS

I'd like to develop an application for a smart watch which will periodically turn on & off sensors on the watch/band, ala microphone/camera/etc, record their activity, do minimal processing and store the result on the watch/band. This result will be uploaded to the mobile phone when a bluetooth connection is established.
To my best understanding, this can only be done with Tizen/WearOS/FitbitOS, not with other watch operating systems such as Huami's ones (Amazfit/Xiami MI/etc). This also means that it's a (big) watch and not a (small) band that is suitable for the above.
Is this correct and how to do this otherwise if it's wrong?
How much of a hassle it is to do this in WearOS for a seasoned professional programmer who is a complete noob in WearOS/smartwatches/mobile devices?
Can we develop a headless app that runs constantly?
Are there any tutorials on the subject?
