Hello,
I own a Polar M400 and it has some smartwatch feature. (showing notifications and beeping)
Currently it is only utilized through the polar flow app.
Has anybody already figured out how to utilize this watch by other/self-programmed apps?
:good: That is an interesting question. I would also be curious about that.
I am looking in to this, as I got some choices on some applications. Like beyond pod. Allows me to pause and skip on the watch. Should be able to create one that could be customised :=

Hi there,
For now, Android Wear only supports swipe gestures on the touchscreen.
It would be awesome to be able to - for example - turn your wrist to trigger actions.
Does anyone have any information to share regarding gesture detection using wrist movements with Android Wear?
If official support won't be available anytime soon, do you think this can be enabled via custom ROMs?
How hard do you think it would be to implement gesture detection from the moment a custom ROM for a certain smartwatch is available?
Considering Android Wear is... well, Android, and Android has all the API functions to get data from the accelerometer (And lots of helpful development sources), I assume it wouldn't be too hard?
Or am I overlooking something?
Best regards
Use asus remote camera app for android wear. If you twist your watch it will take a picture with your smartphone camera!

Thanks for the fast reply!
So wrist gesture detection is perfectly possible it seems?
But can you or anyone else give me some additional background about Android Wear:
Should I see Android Wear as a simple extension of the Android API? By which I mean: can I utilise all the Android API functions related to interpreting smartphone/tablet sensor data, provided the smartwatch has that sensor? (e.g accelerometer)
Since I was looking in this particular section related to Wearables (Remove the spaces: developer . android . com/training/building-wearables.html ) and I couldn't find any information about wrist gesture detection.
Is that simply because everything else from the Android API is automatically also applicable to smartwatch development?
(As one can tell, I'm quite new to mobile development.)

Thanks, will check this out!
Though from looking at the reviews, it seems there is still a lot to improve.
Also, I found the answer to my question in the meantime. In short: yes, you can access the accelerometer on your Android Wear smartwatch using the API functions originally intended for the accelerometer on Android smartphones.

The Bing app uses a wrist twist to activate
Should be possible soon!

Android wear is a new platform and is a hell lot fun to develop though when it packs so good specs then definetly some gestures may come. Even the 2015 launch of the apple watch doesnt seem to deliver a perfect gesture. Leaving the digital crown and the electrode on screen taps but i used the asus remote camera app its a lot easier and upholding the wrist wakes the watch u shuld give it a try!

Hmmmm.... I just created an AccessibilityService that does exactly what you are describing: it gives you the ability to completely control your smartwatch using wrist gestures.
I created it for my own use (I can only use one of my hands, the one in which I wear the watch) and I can fully control it using wrist gestures.

notice that in the current phase I'm not sure if the model that recognizes the wrist gestures can generalize or if it just recognizes my wrist gestures only.
Hello all,
I wanted a information.
I recently bought the following Smartwatch: K88H. The smartwatch works pretty well with IOS and I don't think it can be seen that the restrictions of IOS.
It is possible to update the firmware inside ?
Thanks to all

+1 - I have been reading what I can find on the internet about hacking/updating K88H but unfortunately there isn't a satisfactory amount of resources regarding this smart watch.
It's a great gadget though - if in doubt, just buy it, a great value for the price!
Back to the topic of this thread - There is value in looking for resources that talk about hacking/updating nuclear os as it's operating system that the watch is using.
Hello Guys,

I also have the K88H. I did not like some of the screens on the Notifications. It has a huge "BLOCK" button that if you touch it the screen pops up asking if you want to block these kinds of messages. I blocked all the apps I wanted in the Mediatek SmartDevice app on my Android Phone. So why would I want that second button in the way?
Long story short I used Golem_'s tutorial and found a better firmware. Follow his instructions to the letter. Make sure you back up your existing firmware before continuing. Our watch is the MTK2502A 128MB. My favorite firmware so far is the X-Watch firmware. Golem_ also has a collection of firmware for you to begin with. Engjoy...
Hi,
I'm looking to create an app for a KW88 (KingWear) smartwatch I've purchased and awaiting it to be shipped to me.
As this smartwatch has a sim card, it may double as a phone. Therefore, I wonder, if I create a standalone app for the smartwatch (It is supposed to show the pictures of contacts and then, on press, call them), do I need to make a normal android app or an Android wear app?
(Implying it is possible to have a third party app completely standalone on the KW88 watch in the first place.....)
many thanks for the answers!
Regards,
Wattah

Careful, Wattah!
The KingWear KW88 runs on Android 5.1 and not Android Wear - which means it doesn't support apps made for Android Wear at all...
This standalone app you meantioned won't be integrated and run only if you open it manually. Native support in terms of using this app instead of the built in app will be difficult to work around. (see launcher apks on Google+ forums)
Hope that finds you well
Best regards,
Daniel
Welp, sorry, apparently I've never said anything back.
Thanks for the answer, as it actually made things a lot easier. I've now programmed an app and using a app called Always on, the app is nearly always on. What I intend to create is a skin over the KW88 device which will make it much more usable for elderly people.
What I noticed is that sometimes, using the physical button, the app will close and display the watch face. For us it is easy to navigate through the watch face, but I need it to be as easy as it can ever be and so, i need the face removed.... Is there any way to either: remove the face alltogether or have this app be incorporated in the face (it needs to be able to handle calls and use GPS)....

Hi guys, what a about use kingroot to root it and then use no frill cpu to set cpu as lower frequency to save battery, might be work?
HI there,
I just bought a GT08 smartwatch (what I think it is a clone).
It has a MT6261.
I currently use Mediatek SmartDevice with it, but I have seen I can't get anything else than notification title in remote notifier.
I use a S4 mini with AOKP Android 7.1.
I don't know if it is a problem with the watch firmware not supporting Android 7 or the app from mediatek not supporting Android 7.
By the way, I tested on my other phone, S3 mini, with Android Lollipop, and I can get all notifications which their content, with the same app.
This feature is critical for me because I wanted the watch for reading WhatsApp notifications without taking the phone.
So, is there an app or firmware for the watch that could make notifications to work properly?
I attach a picture of watch version firmware.
Thanks in advance.
in this forum that the Smarty application, really good for what you are looking for
So I just got my first smartwatch, a No.1 S9. Love it, but I'm still learning everything it can do.
One thing bothers me, though. No.1 suggests the use of the Fundo Wear app on my phone, which works, but doesn't let me swap watch faces, and constantly keeps a notification box (saying "SmartDevice Connected") on my phone's lock-screen.
Alternatively, I know I can use the Mediatek SmartDevice app instead (and it lets me swap in new watch faces).
Is there any real reason to not use Mediatek instead of Fundo Wear? I'm not really interested in tracking how many steps I take a day, or how well I sleep.
For that matter is there a third (fourth) contender that's compatible?
