Anyone with experience replacing screen? Light sensor issues - LG V20 Questions & Answers

I can't get the ribbon cable for the light sensor to stay in place when putting it back together.. Not a "huge" problem, but kinda annoying, anyone have tips to get it to cooperate? Maybe some kind of adhesive but what kind and where do i get it?
Thanks for any help

Removing front cover / LCD?

Hey guys I was searching up on the forums about replacing the covers on the Jam after I dropped mine the other day, and after seeing the post by adolfotregosa:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...ays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=housing&start=0
I decided im just going to spray paint the case black.
I found the PDF file about removing the back and side casings to fix a speaker issue, but I havent come across anything that explains how to remove the front cover, and the lcd from the front cover.
Can anyone shed some light on how to do this?
PDF file speaker issue
Can you please give me the link to the
"PDF file about removing the back and side casings to fix a speaker issue".
Cheers mate....

After removing the flat cable as in page 15/16, right under the flat cable there's some clip you need to push towards outside. It suppose to come off completely. When that's off you can pop the screen. I needed to use some force but not as much to break it

HELP! Housing replaced, now orientation doesn't change when keyboard is opened!

I changed the entire housing on my Hermes as it was looking a little battered. All seemed ok but now when I slide the keyboard open the orientation stays in portrait mode. Also the keyboard light stays off. I've tested another keyboard pcb from an old broken hermes and the same problem persists.
Does ANYONE have any clue as to how I could fix this, or if it's even fixable. Not as bothered about the backlight....
Also my internal mic volume has gotten really low. I have to switch to loudspeaker unless i'm in a really quiet room!
there is a magnet in the housing that triggers a switch to swap the screen, did you swap it over?
It'll either be what beermonster65 said above, or possibly the ribbon connector which connects the screen to the mainboard isn't plugged in properly - I had that when I opened mine up to repair the sliders.

As far as I knew I switched over everything from the old housing. What does this magnet look like and where is it? If i've lost it is there a possible fix?
Thank you both for your responses so far.
Any news on the mic issue also?

HD Mini Digitizer Replacement

Well I did it. I dropped my phone and the digitizer is ruined. Does anyone know of a good tutorial on how to replace it? I found this after hours of searching, but it is vague at best. I have removed all parts but the the digitizer. I do not want to take a heat gun to it until I know this is the right process.
If anyone can elaborate or confirm I would greatly appreciate the input.
Thank You

Hi guys. I just followed this tutorial and replaced my digitizer. However, I must have disturbed the proximity or light sensor as now my screen blanks when I receive or make a call (as it did before) but now I can't re-enable the screen whilst in a call. Is there a way to disable the proximity sensor on the phone or another way of fixing this issue?

In-Call: Screen turns off and unresponsive

Hi everyone,
I recently changed my HTC's Aria digitizer because it was cracked.
During the process everything went smoothly however after that I have discovered that when a person calls me or when I call someone the screen turns off and never gets back to normal if there is no other "stimulation" such as putting the phone to charge for example.
My guess was there was a problem with the sensor so under settings I chose to keep the screen awake at all times during a phone call, still, I am having the same problem.
The weird thing is that sometimes when I remove the battery cover everything works fine and the screen keeps on, but sometimes not, so its not a constant rule..
I may have messed up something during the replacement of the digitizer (its just the glass not the lcd) such as removing the sensor and not placing it back correctly but the thing is that I dont really know the components of this device so Im not sure what is what..
If anyone could help me to understand the problem a little bit I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advanced..
Anyone? Please
The sensor is right above the AT&T logo. If the little rubber ring isn't perfectly aligned with the sensor, you will have this problem. My wife's phone has a similar problem and it is fixed (temporarily) by firmly pressing on that corner. The adhesive strips have failed and I am looking for a source besides "Repairs Universe".
Thanks a lot!
I will try to take apart my Aria again and see if I can align it correctly
thanks again
glad that i found this, having same issues with my wife's aria, will give it a shot

I'm rooted but no idea how to disable proximity sensor

I tried installing the xposed framework but that threw a little notice saying it wasnt going to work. I looked for apps ont he app store but that didnt work as well..
Any ideas on how to disable the proximity sensor so when I turn the screen on it doesnt turn right back off?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
the issue might be your proximity sensor's alignment. it might not have aligned properly. there is a small black rubber holder to hold the proximity sensor. may be you might be missing it or might have loosen it. you can easily fix/align it, if you can open the back cover.
you can install a custom rom to overcome this sudden screen off issue. but when you taking a call your screen will be turning off until other user disconnect the call..
I suggest you fix/align the proximity sensor..
P.S:
There is a small troubleshooting step you can do to see whether your proximity sensor has a slight alignment issue. get a torch or good direct light source and point it directly at proximity sensor. if you can turn your screen on while pointing that light towards proximity sensor, you should have a very small alignment issue. there are plenty of proximity sensor test apps on play store too.

Interseting... My screen broke so I had it replaced and its been having an issue ever since. Also, I don't use it for calls. It is just sitting on a mount in my car most of the day running a few car apps. But it is in airplane mode basically all day lol.

that makes sense.. you also replced front housing too right? that's where that rubber proximity sensor holder attached.. if you replace original front housing with aftermarket housing that rubber holder probably won't come with it. most of the repair technicians don't know this.. if you still have the old front housing you should be able to recover it and attach to your new housing..
p. s:
or you should be able to buy it.

Honestly, if its possible I'd rather just disable it completely. I'd rather not open the phone up again if I don't have to and I will never use it for calls anyway.

if you're not using your g2 for calls, I'd recommend flashing a custom aosp rom. so you wouldn't get in to this sudden screen off issue while unlocking it..
