Hello,
PLEASE, I need some serious help. I received my Mi 9T today. I am DESPERATE with
the lock screen, having the following 3 MAJOR issues:
1. I have a stupid "Swipe up to unlock" screen, before I get to enter my password. I only found how to get rid of it, if I am not using any screen locking method. But as soon as I choose a password, it is back again. HOW do I get rid of it, so I directly get to see the keyboard for entering my password ?
2. I need to use a secure password (containing numbers as well). The keyboard on the lock screen only has letters... How do I get the additional line with numbers ?!? On a 6.4" screen there is PLENTY of space for that !!!
3. I seem to be faster than my phone - when I quickly type in my password, the phone gets stuck after the 5th character and I must type my password VERY SLOWLY for the phone to grasp it !! HOW is this possible ?!? Are we in 2020 or in 1970 ?!?
Many thanks to ANYONE who is able to get this solved !!
Hello,
- Why don't use fingerprint unlock feature if you are lazy to slide to unlock? ^^ EDIT: This option is hidden in "Developer Options", but seems to don't work if one lock method is set... => https://youtu.be/8RNZDZBeRd8
- Beta MIUI 11.2 Android 10 ROM has a better "unlock keyboard" with a digits line on top. Don't know if latest MIUI 11 Android 10 Global/EEA Stable ROM got this change yet.
- Don't have this issue on beta (I'm using latest xiaomi.eu custom MIUI ROM "weekly/beta" version).
OK, then I will try to do this update.
I would just like to ask you, if you could advise how I can install only the MIUI update, without going to
Android 10 ? I am afraid, that going to a higher Android version might cause some problems, as I always keep reading on the internet, how various problems start after updates - wi-fi stops being stable, audio quality drops, battery starts draining, etc.
I really don't have the nerves and the time for such issues...
Many thanks in advance!
You have read about beta releases probably. Just go with stable and you'll be fine
Thanks. Today I installed the MIUI 11.whatever STABLE release...
1) the keyboard for entering the password on the lock screen is still missing the upper row with numbers
2) typing in the password quickly still makes the keyboard stuck
In summary, nothing changed !!! ((

Hi, the T-Mobile Screen Lock Application is really useful, but I miss 1 feature: Auto Screen Lock after x seconds of inactivity, why? : When push emails or sms or notifications coming in, the device wakes up and screen goes on and if the screen was not locked manually before and if it's in my pocket (a lot of ands, I know...) keys are pressed randomly.
So happend to me yesterday, I called 7 randomly persons and I didn't noticed until the called me back and asked me if I'm crazy...
B.
You can put a password on your device that will lock the device after x sec. Then it will wake up, handle the call & still be locked for other functions. Omega One has got a 'Safe' as well. Gives you a nice clock & your appointments as well while the device is locked.
Cheers, M
oltp: Omega one's app is very nice. Have you tried resource hacking it to match your Today theme etc, or add warnings and stuff? It makes it even better!

Hi VJ,
Nope not yet, in fact I ditched all OO aps when I didn't have a BS rom. No I need to reinstall it & find the time to 'alter' One Pass.
Probably spending too much time in solving other people's rom, etc probs. But thanks for the reminder I completely forgot the hacking possibilities. Any tips/links where to find a description to it?
Cheers, m
oltp: Just load it up using any resource hacker and change them bitmaps.
Very easy but slightly hackery. I don't use it either because it screws with buttonmax and similar apps. They're aware of the problem but don't appear to have fixed it when I last tried it... nice app though.
V
Thank you V,
Will try it soon.
Thanx, i needed the same thing and forgot all about the password!
Just set to 0 mins and it will only lock on boot or when coming out of standby
/me is happy now!
Omega One's app is 1-pass?
At Omega One homepage tell that is not WM5 compatible!
Can expalin please?
Thanks
I have a problem when booting my phone in terms of trying to enter the password code for the sim when windows starts up. The screen pops up for this but does not allow you to properly enter the 4 digit code before other screens appear such as the Mobile Shell3 front end etc, meaning I can't make calls straight away.
In order to access the password screen properly I then have to go to comm manager, turn off the cellular radio then toggle it on again so that I am prompted with the sim unlock code, and it then can be input.
This is a bit of a pain & makes the whole soft reset process longer & more messy so if anyone knows how to get round this I'd be really pleased.
Got to admit though I LOVE SPB shell 3 so far. It's like Winterface but much better, especially with the registry hacks that allow you to extend the shortcut screens. Will be buying this once the trial expires (assuming you actually can buy it now...).
I have the same problem. Have to say that your way of resolving it is quicker than mine, though. Until I read your post, I was exiting MS3, enabling then disabling TF3D in order to get the password prompt.
I'd like a permanent solution, though.
Pretty sure I still had this problem before installing MS3 but it wasn't as bad. Beforehand the code screen would appear, then other stuff would appear over it, then once it had nearly finished booting it would re-appear and allow you to enter the code, but now that does not happen.
I know I can lock the screen by pressing the power button.
But is there a widget that will do that same.
One press - LOCK.
Thanks
I'm looking for this kind of application too.. Anyone??
Haven't tried it myself...

I've had tried the software but it is not that good.. it will have a 5 seconds countdown on the screen but doesn't immediately turn off the screen.. I think wat we really want is a widget to immediately turn off the screen.. However thanks for the share...
I Need this too!!!!
why not take the code and modify it?
that's what GPLv3 is for
Well, since this wasn't too complicated (not at all really)
I've changed the countdown timer to 0 so it should display the abort screen and lock the phone almost instantly.
i could probably make it more direct but i'm not well versed in android just yet (just Java knowledge) so thats what you get
Also please note that i haven't tested this past the SDK emulator, since my newly ordered android phone isn't here yet!
This program is not fully work on my desire (original 2.1 traditional chinese without root)
When i press the widget, a message will popup showing "0" for a while and then disappear without turn off the screen.
When i touch the popup message before it disappear, there will be a countdown from 5 to 0 and the screen will shutdown afterwards.
Thanks for your development anyway!

i'll try checking it out soon.. it's a bit of a problem since i dont have access to an actual android device yet (i'm getting my desire in the next 4-5 days)
and the emulator dosen't support this function as far as i know (ran the original and did the same thing).
i'll look up if theres anything specific with the desire

I have installed and run this software in my Desire without problem. The latest version .5 beta support Desire but cannot change the default 6 seconds screen off option. Despite I cannot set less than 6 seconds to turn off the screen, I would thank the developer let me have another way to suspense my device without touching the hardware key.
I do apologize if there is a threat for this but with no good topics (many are wrong or misguided) I can't read all the threats in xda and you know it.
Specs:
Phone: Samsung Omnia II.
OSROM: GC Lite - WM6.5.3
Problem: When boot up it goes to the lockscreen with background of my friend's grandson and the slide to open button.
Sliding the button gives a pad to enter the code.
Entering the code and hitting the unlock button (open lock icon) it does nothing!
It doesn't go anywhere and after few seconds it returns to the slide button front page.
Is there a way of getting in the phone without Hard Reset so the numbers on it or anything else on the internal sd doesn't get deleted?
Thanks!
I have a similar problem. It doesn't accept my usual unlock code and I don't know why. I didn't change anything.
Did you find a solution?
Good:
I apologize first since I am using the Google translator with what I hope you can understand my question, and if the question is already formulated in another thread, but I have not seen it.
I put you in situation:
The blocked phone, I receive a notification (Telegram, GMail, WhatsApp, etc), and the screen turns on thanks to the Ambient Display, but once it's on, and even if I give it a tap, or two, I can not access the notification.
I must unlock the phone (with the fingerprint or the power button), to access them.
In other terminals (Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Mate 9, and even in the Galaxy Note 2), you could interact from the screen of the lockscreen, where, and clicking on the received notification, you accessed the application.
Is it a bug? Is this typical of Nougat ?. Is there any way to solve this?
I have tried having the terminal without pattern, without fingerprint, just with sliding, etc, but it does not let me access them from that screen.
Is that if you have the terminal on the table, to say something, and you get an email, being able to access it without having to pick up the phone, or put the fingerprint, or give the power button to access it, was very comfortable. Two touches on the notification in the lockscreen meant that you could access it.
Thanks for the answers and possible solutions.
Not sure if bug or feature but there is no way to change this as far as i know.
I guess it's a bug, it used to work as OP expects on Nexus 5X 7.1.2. Ambient display on Mi A1 is quite buggy (screen freezing), I don't really recommend using it until fixed.
Thanks to both for responding.

I thought that this problem only happened to me.
The truth is that I do not understand why they can not enable this factory option. The only way I have been able to interact with the arrival of notifications and the lockscreen so far, has been using external programs, such as the Heads Up Notification.
That's right. Without being able to put any kind of security, since if you put it, when you tap the screen, it asks for the pin, since the smartphone understands that you want to unlock it.
o see if in future updates, or with the supposed arrival of Oreo, implement this comfortable action.
Or at least let the end user choose it as being able to open / interact with notifications from the lockscreen.
