Can you explain to me how Dolby sound differs from the standard sound?

Dolby reduces noise in the audio so your ears hear less noise from distortion, compression and you'll hear a clearer audio sound, then it's DTS for better quality. Tried to keep it simple, if you'd like a real in depth look you can go right to dolby.com and read all about it.

Silent Shutter Sound
Sollution to disable Shutter sound on your device:
*First of all download Resco Explorer ( http://www.resco.net/smartphone/explorer/default.asp )
Install this on your device.
*Record with the the standard voice-recorder in windows a wav-file without sound (so simply disable your microphone) make it 5 seconds to make sure it does not have any bad influence on your camera-application.
*Give this file a very simple name starting with an underscore or a number to have it on the top of your list (especially on smartphones the Windows folder is very very long for scrolling) Name it something like "_mute.wav"
* Copy this file from your PC to your device using your windows explorer, put this in the Windows folder on your device
* Now open Resco Explorer on your device, press "menu" , "options" , "browser" and uncheck the "Hide hidden files..." option
* Now browse on your device to the windows folder and locate your mute wav file, now choose "action" , "rename" and give the file the name of the standard shutter sound file (on a Samsung i320 it is "camera_shutter_1.wav" (please do not choose "camera_shutter_ 2.wav" or "camera_shutter_3.wav" because these are first played and afterwards you will get still the "camera_shutter_1.wav"-file)
* You now will get some alert-windows if you are sure etc. just press yes and then.... SILENT SHUTTER IS THERE!
This works for my Samsung i320 so I am pretty sure it works for all devices...

Well for Hermes devices this seems like a heck of a long way round when the camera has an option to turn shutter sound off!!
Mike
and on the phones that dont have the option in the app to turn off the shutter sound there is a reg hack to get rid of it as well...
Well, it's a bit old topic, but I have the same problem. I cannot disable the camera shutter sound! I have the HTC official Hermes WM6 ROM (3.54.255.3)
I've tried altering the HKLM\System\Pictures\Camera\OEM\SoundFile key in registry,so that it points to nonexisting file, after that changing it to existing "silent" WAV, altering few other keys in registry (ForceShutterSound set to 0, ShutterSoundVolume to 1, after that to 0) even "force-renaming" my own WAV into \Windows\ShutterSound.wav... Nothing worked, there still is the sound, even if I switch the phone to silent mode. And of course, it can't be set in the Setting screen of Camera application. Anyone have an idea how to get rid of the sound? Isn't there a way to somehow "delete" the file, even if it has the flag "In ROM", and therefore can't be deleted by Total Commander (for example) ?
EDIT: By doing all of this, I have achieved, that the shutter is silent when the phone is in "Sound Off" or "Vibrate" mode... But it would be really nice if it could be disabled completely, even when in standard "Sound On" mode.

Sad thing is that this is actually true in Japan.....
Actually, now I have the capability of turning the sound off (by switching the phone to Vibrate mode), so if I really wanted to take upskirt pictures, I would be able to LOL
I want to disable the sound in "sound on" mode, because it is really annoying and because I just don't want someone else to dictate me what setting should I have enabled/disabled on MY phone, which I have paid for.
The disappointment came when I use loudspeaker on the Galaxy Note. The volume is so low and easily miss out the conversation.
I search for the loadspeaker test, found that G.Note is really bellow average.
You can find more about the test itself here.

Any software / modification can be done to boost up the volume?
Unforunately this is true...
However, there is a quick & simple solution to this problem which works.
Download 'Equalizer' from the market place, it's an app which will improve and increase sound. Once using the program you will notice an immediate difference in voice calls, games, videos, music, ring/sms and all notification tones, etc...
My ringtone volume is set to 5/7. Why? Because even at 5/7 it's LOUD thanks to the equalizer...
Everytime my phone rings I jump as it's so loud. It is LOUDER than my previous phone which had ''very good'' for speaker loudness...
Best of all you don't need to be rooted to use the app, good luck!

Don't bother with Volume+ as the difference is hardly noticable...
Running Equalizer & Power Amp is all you will ever need...
With regards to battery it doesn't even use 1% of it....
I will give you a short tutorial on how to use Equalizer as it will not work at all if not setup properly.
1 - Type in & download 'Equalizer' from market place.
2 - Install & run app
3 - On the top right hand corner press the power icon, right next to the spanner.
4 - Tick Equalizer only
5 - Press Equalizer which is inbetween Presets & Effects
6 - Leave 60Hz as it is on 0 and increase everything else to about 90%
7 - Once done simply push the back button on your Note & enjoy the LOUDER volume.

Excelent tip!!! The increase of ringtone volume is huge. Does it also affect the calling quality in any way?

Funny enough you mention it, calling quality is the only thing I've not yet tested the equalizer with. My call volume is 9/10 and it's decent so have not tried this.
A very simple way to test the app with call volume/quality is to launch the app, goto the power options and untick equalizer to disable it. Make a phone call without the use of the equalizer.
Then reopen the equalizer and tick equalizer to re-enable it. Make the phone call again to the same person/number and see if you can hear any difference...
As for myself call quality is good, just as it was before and is no way any worse.
My issue is with the speakerphone in a call. Its very quiet. I had an atrix before which was fantastic. Still can't figure out how to get the speakerphone louder

Strange, sure your not closing the program after making your changes?
Otherwise try setting up a custom preset, increase everything to 90% apart from the 60hz setting which you don't need to change.
Once you finish making your changes don't push the home screen button. Instead press the back on the screen till you get to the home screen.
This will close the app but save the settings. Give that a go.

What i have noticed is that , sound does increase everywhere except during speaker calls.
This is the only place i want higher volumes.

Thank you.. now i can notice some difference
There's a free version in the Market, which can save presets, and has simpler controls: https://market.android.com/details?id=org.equalizerapp
Seems to work well with the Note.

Welcome guys, glad it helped.
Does this 'Equalizer' App makes the sound feel hollow ?
I mean the bass gets muffeled tht kind of issue... OR it maintains the original sound as it is and just make the actual volume go up?

With regards to bass increase/increase, these two things will effect it for the better or the worst:
1 - In the app Equalizer the very first 60Hz option will effect bass, the higher you increase it the more the bass. I recommend a 10-20% as any more will over-do it.
2 - This is the main setting which will effect the bass. In your media player, example poweramp that mcatt66 suggested or MixZing Pro which I personally use. When launching your desired media/music player, go to the equalizer that comes with the player, enable it and play about with the settings. If done properly it will greatly improve your sound.
However everyone will have a different setup of their equalizer as people have different opinions of what sounds best! It's really a user preference in which YOU have to play some music and whilst listening to the song go through the equalizer and go through each individual setting increasing and decreasing the bars until your satisfied with the sound. Simply go back into the song you were playing to save your setting. Job done!
You must use ear/headphones when doing this. Reason being the loudspeaker is not so clear on the Samsung Note. This is no big problem since when listening to music or watching movies you will obviously be using your headset and this is what's important. Sound coming through your head/earphones are what you need to look at, not the loudspeaker sound.
In my case sound coming out the loudspeaker is average, not great. However, when plugging in my earphones that's where the sound really shines!
The 31Hz in the equalizer is the main setting for bass increase/decrease & 8k & 16k is the main setting for treble increase/decrease. The ones in the middle you have to play around with to suit your own taste. As for me I've decreased them all slightly. In some equalizers you will see a 'gain' option. This increases/amplifies sound. This is a sensitive option and over-doing it will result in bad distortion.
This is how my equalizer setup looks. Once again do not over-do the settings as in wack them up right to the top or bottom since you will get poor sound.

Is it possible to disable the various SPen sounds? For example the air command popup sound.
Same question for vibration.

Thanks!
Does Settings --> Controls --> S Pen --> Pen attach/Detach Sound --> Off not work?
The rest of the settings is under Settings --> Device --> Sounds --> /touch Sounds/Haptic Feedback. (The Pen attach/Detach Sound sound setting is here, too.)

Hm. Well, you could set System Sounds to silent.
Maybe someone else has a better idea
Hey!
Any solution so far? I'm looking for one as well, but so far only disabling all system sounds seems to help.
Same here the phone is rooted and tried, turning off all vibes and sounds, still same. I think that there might be something that needs to be changed in build prop, maybe? As for the sound maybe it can be deleted from UI folder .I'm not an intensive Pen user but it's a bit annoying to make the sound and vibe, though most likely this is useful if you take it out by mistake or play with the pen in/out and you forget dunno .
If there is a solution to put everything on silent ,that would be fantastic.

Check out my thread on how to disable air command pop up sound (link is in my signature )
I have a problem with the audio of my Tichwatch E.
The watch is updated to Android Oreo.
The problem is that when I receive a notification, there is no sound but only the vibration.
Also there are no sounds even when I try to change the ringtone in the settings (ie, when I click on a ringtone, it does not play).
In the same way I do not receive any sound even from alarms.
The sound is activated, the volume is at maximum and the do not disturb mode (DND) is disabled.
What can I do?
Thank you,
Android Wear has no audio sound
You can use app like "Feel the Wear" to add sound.
Wear has sound for Alarm and Timer but you must setup the sound volume for this in the settings. By defaut it is set to only vibe.

hi, thanks,
but I don't have any sound in alarm and timer (even if in the settings all the volumes are at maximum).
I installed "feal the wear" but it does not seem to work ... I only get the vibration, even though I set the sound from the application.
I solved the problem by setting the language of the Italian vocal output to English.
So the ringtones working (with the app feel the wear) and also the voice output of assistant (in Italian!)
the only thing, do you know how to make feel the wear only play the smartwatch when connected to the phone? otherwise when disconnected make the phone ring?

It is only a notification system for the watch. Otherwise your notification phone works always on your phone, with or without have a watch, so your phone ring.
Okay so...I have all my volume controls muted or lowered completey but when opening a video through BaconReader or a Gif w sound, there is sound that I cannot mute or control...
This has never happened on any other device for me.

Check the slider settings, maybe it doesn't mute media.
Also, a "gif with sound" is called a video.
